Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Daily Thought:
Worry and anxiety can been such a detrimental part of  life. Worry is living in the future and hoping that everything will be taken care of. Our clothing, food, and other needs are vital for us to live so we tend to be consumed with worry and anxiety. Jesus tells us not to worry. He is literally saying here, “Think about what you have going on today. Be at peace for today and experience the day for what you have received. Be about today’s business because I am the only one who knows tomorrow and I have it handled. I know what you need and I will care for you. Seek Me and My Kingdom and the things you need will be given to you.”

Today I will be about today. Not looking down the road I can not see but looking at each moment as a gift from God and a joy. Regardless of what is happening around me I choose today to leave the anxieties of future needs in the hands of the Shepherd and will enjoy the blessings, joy, and struggles of today.

My Prayer:
Lord, help me to be in the moment and not obsessed with the needs and desires of the future. I recognize that you hold the future, not me. Help me to be at peace in every situation and to find pleasure and blessing in this present moment. Amen

Daily Thought:
How do I walk in a manner worthy of the the Lord? This verse gives me three ways to do this. First, by being pleasing to Him. That means that all  I do today will be pleasing to the Lord. Next, bearing fruit in in every good work is another way to walk in a manner worthy of Him. To bear fruit I need to be connected to the Vine. And lastly, by increasing in the knowledge of God. Spending time learning and knowing Him.

My Prayer:
Lord, please help me walk in a manner that is worthy of you today. I want to be a vessel for you. I love you Lord and am thankful for all you have done in my life. Amen

Daily Thought:
Walking in the flesh is as easy as taking the next breath of fresh air. We do it without even thinking about it. However, when we walk in our flesh we will ultimately do the things that fulfill the desires of the flesh. I am reminded today that when I am connected to God through his Spirit I will not gratify fleshly desires. In order to be in tune to the Spirit I need to be in the Word and prayer daily. No, constantly… Walking in the Spirit for me is more than just a daily routine of reading the my Bible, it is a moment by moment conscious thing I must do throughout the day.

My Prayer:
Lord, I want to glorify you in all I do and I know to do that I need to walk by the Spirit. Help me to do that today.

Daily Thought:
This verse is a reminder to me that if I know God then I will love others. I know that there are some people in our life that are more challenging to love than others, but God is love. If we remain in Christ we can love like Him and display Hid goodness to all people.

Lord Jesus, help me to love like you love. Show me the things in my heart that keep me from loving like you. Amen…

Daily Thought:
“Since love covers a multitude of sins.” What a great way to start the day, in the love of Christ. When we are sober minded, self controlled, and earnestly seeking the Lord through prayer then we are prone to be more like Him. As we enter the throne room of grace each day our mind is transformed as well as our heart and we are then able to reflect his love to those around us. When we are filled with the love of God we are able to cover the sins of others. This doesn’t mean we condone it or over look them. It simply means that we are able to love others in spite of their sins. Where there is love there is forgiveness.

My Prayer:
Lord Jesus, please help me today. Help me to look at others through your eyes. I want to be a vessel of honor for you and to be willing to forgive others and love them the way you love them. You are an awesome God and I give you praise today. Amen.

Daily Thought:
How easy it is to run ahead of God. Busy doing this thing or that, all the while wondering why you are filled with stress and frustration. Often I have thoughts and ideas and think how wonderful it would be to be able to follow through on them. Ideas about ministry, work, helping others… But they seem to get held up for one reason or another. All things are accomplished in His time and today I am reminded to “Wait on Him!” He is the Lord. His will is perfect… take courage and wait on the Lord today.

 

My Prayer:
Lord, help me to not run ahead of you in my desires. I need to trust in you and your perfect timing and will. I desire to be strong and courageous in you today. Amen

Boasting itself is not a bad thing… The question is, who are you boasting about? God approves the one who boasts in him. When success comes my way – boast in the Lord. When things are going well – boast in the Lord. When glory is due in my life – give all the glory to God. In all things, boast in the Lord.

Lord, help me to take the focus off of me and put it all on you and your glory. You are worthy of all my boasting and I desire Lord to give it to you rather than keep it for myself. Thank you for all you do for me. You are an awesome God! Amen.

Daily Thought:
This message given to Joshua when he was commissioned to take the people of Israel into the promised land applies as much to him as it does to you and me today.

  • Be strong and courageous.
  • Do not be frightened.
  • Do not be dismayed.
  • God is with you wherever you go.

Looking previously in this chapter at verse 3, he tells Joshua that  the Lord has given to him every step he takes. For me today, that brings great security and confidence. Knowing the Lord has gone before me allows me to walk in Him and know that wherever my feet carry me He has been there preparing the way.

My Prayer:
Lord, I pray that I can be confident in knowing that you are walking before me in everything I do. Help me to not fear, be strong and courageous, and to trust you in all things even if they seem impossible. Amen

Lord, help me to remember your grace. Help me Lord to not get stuck in the shame and guilt that comes from being a sinner. You saved me by grace and by grace I choose to live. Thank you for pulling me out of the depths of my iniquities and into your glorious light. Amen.

Daily Thought:
Today as I read through the twelfth chapter of John I am struck by these two simple verses. This chapter has so much I could write about, but the one thing that God really impacted me on was this… Whose approval are you seeking out?

The leaders were willing to deny their relationship with Jesus because of their fear of losing their status in the temple. I often fear what others may think of me. Sometimes I am afraid of being labeled a certain type of person at work if I associate too closely to Jesus. It is a sad but true reality that we too are willing to deny Jesus for the approval of men. I challenge you today to seek Him rather than the approval of men and see to it that Jesus gets all the glory in your life.

 

My Prayer:
Lord, help me to see you as more precious than the praise of men. I desire to please you and see your name glorified in my life at home, work, and in the community. Please direct my path in my work and other areas of my life so you will shine in everything I do. Keep me free from the temptation to deny you, but when it does come Lord I ask that you give me the strength to overcome it. I know you are faithful and promise a way out, please help me to choose the right way. Amen
