Tech Gadgets That Should Be Wireless Other Than the iPhone 7

With the wireless revolution in mind, here are some of the tech devices that also deserve a wireless treatment, not just for the sake of making your iPhone 7 experience more streamlined, but to further advance the wireless experience agenda and finally go all out wireless in all the gadgets that we possibly could for our convenience.

Wireless Charging of Laptops and PCs

If its smaller counterpart which is the smartphones are able to do it, how much more can the laptops and desktop computers? Standard computers have a size that tech innovation could easily exploit. So, there's really no reason why it shouldn't happen sometime soon.

Apparently, a tech company finally paid attention to that long-overdue technological advancement and has taken the first step in making wireless charging for desktop computers and laptops to happen. A budding tech company named WiTricity is going to launch its wireless charging technology starting off with Dell laptops. Basically, Dell laptops started this tech revolution in laptop charging, however, it didn't gain as much media mileage as the iPhone 7's airpods or the wireless charging capability of the latest smartphones. The wireless charging for laptops is in a form of a charging matt, which will only transmit the battery's charge if the laptop in placed on it. Pretty much like the wireless charging feature of smartphones.

What would be really ground breaking though is if they make the wireless charging functional even at a distance, much like how the Bluetooth speakers and headsets work.

Wireless External Hard Disk Drives

External hard disk drives have been one of the arsenals to combat insufficient storage space on your laptops or desktops. Most especially to those who run around with Macbooks or Ultrabooks which only carries a limited amount of storage space, not enough to bring an entire movie collection with you. Though external hard drives have remedied most of our storage space struggles efficiently, what better way to make the experience a lot better than to have it done wirelessly.

My Passport Wireless is a next step in the evolution of the external hard drives that we use today. From the name itself, it can sync, transfer, and have your computer read files from it with no strings attached - literally. This state of the art external hard drives utilizes the latest wireless technological mediums which are called the Wireless N and MIMO technology.

To put things simpler, Wireless N is the next generation wireless networking standards that are utilized by WiFi routers. It's basically the technology that picks up wireless signals from WiFi routers. However, Wireless N is just much faster in terms of transfer speed. On the other hand, the MIMO technology stands for Multiple Input, Multiple outputs. It is basically an antenna that allows the device to be a transmitter and the receiver of the data transmitted wirelessly. This technology made it possible for the My Passport Wireless to become not just a wireless storage device, but also a Wi-Fi Hub.

The My Passport Wireless is a bit bulkier than the traditional external hard disk because it has a 3,400mAh battery on board. On top of that, it has a microSD slot and a USB 3.0 port for those who still prefers to have it done with a cord.

Wireless HDMI

Watching a movie from a smartphone or a laptop has already integrated wireless technology into the experience for quite some time now. With that in mind, it's about time that we also get our hands on a Wireless HDMI. This is basically the replacement of the HDMI cord that we commonly use today for our DVRs, Blue Ray players, or gaming console. This technology comes in a form of an adapter, which you can simply plug into the HDMI port of the device where you want to have your display projected. That adapter will then transmit a signal to capable wireless devices such as your smartphone, DVR, laptop, and the likes. Simply sync with it and you're good to go.

Unfortunately, Wireless HDMIs hasn't reached the mainstream market yet for reasons mostly revolving around incompatibility. However, once it's fully developed to fully cater the mainstream market, there's really no reason why you should hold back from getting this. Not only will it untangle you from the necessity of using a cable, but the range of your source device will be a minor factor from then on you're your BlueRay player is in the next room, that wouldn't be a problem anymore.

We now live in an era of wireless communication. Whether it is communication between two people talking or an electronic device functioning together with another. There's no other way for us to move towards further innovation but to go wireless. And, with the release of the iPhone 7, that feat has just been reinforced with the introduction of a jack-free audio experience. Now, with the iPhone 7's wireless everything policy, the more reason there is for its users to should lead the wireless revolution into a full reveal.

nokia 700

2012-03-28T07:09:00.001-07:00

Nokia 700 review
Weighing just 3.4 ounces and measuring 0.4 inches slim, the unlocked Nokia 700 is the most compact device in Nokia's Symbian-powered smartphone lineup. Despite its size, the Nokia 700 is packed with the latest mobile technologies, including a fast 1 GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD 720p video capture, and single-tap near-field communication (NFC) sharing and pairing capabilities. The Nokia 700 is powered by the Symbian Belle operating system, which offers the most personal user interface from Nokia so far and a more powerful mobile Web browsing experience.

The thin Nokia 700 smartphone with 1 GHz processor and NFC sharing and pairing capabilities.
Compatible with both AT&T's and T-Mobile's 3G networks, the Nokia 700 also includes ultra-fast Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking for access to home, business, and on-the-go hotspots plus next-generation Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. (Learn more about this unlocked phone's network compatibility below.)

The 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass on top makes it look almost as the homescreen icons are painted on the surface of the handset. And the ClearBlack display helps reduce reflections on the screen to produce sharp contrasts both indoors and out.

Other features include a 2 GB internal memory, microSD memory expansion to 32 GB via optional cards, integrated GPS with Nokia Maps featuring free turn-by-turn navigation, full HTML web browser, access to personal and corporate e-mail, pre-loaded NFC-capable Angry Birds game, access to the Ovi Store for thousands of apps, and up to 4.7 hours of talk time (see full specs below).

Symbian Belle Operating System

Symbian Belle is the latest in a series of planned software updates to the Symbian platform, which will continue into 2012. Symbian Belle increases the number of home screens from three to six, providing more room to display applications and services.

Gorgeous 3.2-inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen.
Live widgets now come in five different sizes, making the home screens come alive and giving you more flexibility to personalize your phone. A new email widget means you can browse your inbox directly on the home screen--tap an email to read it and then reply. And with the social network widget, you can scroll feeds and stay up to date without needing to open an app. It also includes a pull down menu and taskbar to access notifications from any of the home screens and further enhancements to the Web browsing experience.

Near-Field Communication

The Nokia 700 lets you read and interact with near-field communication (NFC) tags. You can share contacts, videos and images with other NFC-enabled devices and smartphones, as well as pairing with NFC-enabled mobile accessories such as speakers and headsets. Gaming fans also benefit from the NFC capabilities of the new handsets with the ability to unlock additional levels in Angry Birds or find a hidden blade in Fruit Ninja just by touching two NFC-enabled devices together.

5-megapixel camera with HD 720p video capture.
Other functionality includes the ability to "touch" or "swipe" an NFC tag that might be embedded in a poster, sticker, or advertisement, then act on the data read from the tag. For example, you could read a tag at a restaurant, store, or event and then rate or register by jumping to a web site whose URL is included in the tag data.

Using NFC technology, the Nokia Essence Bluetooth Stereo Headset can be paired with any NFC-enabled smartphone simply by tapping the two devices together. It uses special active noise cancellation technology to eliminate an unprecedented 99.8 percent of background noise--delivering pure, high-fidelity sound no matter how noisy the surroundings for people who don't want to sacrifice audio quality when going wireless.

Free Worldwide Walk and Drive Navigation

Nokia offers its Nokia Maps walk and drive navigation application free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the U.S.), and safety camera and speed warnings, while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. And unlike other mobile navigation mapping solutions, Nokia Maps works offline--no cellular service is required.

Smartphone

The Nokia 700 is the most Nokia smartphone ever--from its high-quality sustainable materials to its efficient use of energy. Many features work together to reduce power consumption, like the energy-efficient AMOLED display and the fast, Nokia Fast Charger AC-15 that comes with your Nokia 700.

Vital Statistics

The Nokia 700 weighs 3.39 ounces and measures 4.33 x 1.97 x 0.38 inches. Its 1080 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.7 hours of 3G talk time, and up to 450 hours (18.75 days) of standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies plus the 850/900/1700/1900/2100 3G frequencies (compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile).

Nokia 701

2012-03-28T06:57:00.002-07:00

Nokia 701 features a 3.5" IPS-LCD display with the ClearBlack technology, which Nokia claims is the brightest smartphone screen out there in terms of nits. So far that crown had been reserved for the LG Optimus Black with its 700 nits, so the Nokia 701 should be even brighter, which would make for better sunlight visibility, so we can t wait to get one and test it outside. The Nokia 701 actually looks a lot like a more compact Nokia C7 at the front, has the same 8MP fixed focus cam with flash and 8GB of onboard memory, but it is powered by a 1GHz processor, and has a 11 x 56.8 x 117.3mm body with 4.62oz (131 grams) of weight

Nokia 701 will be having faster graphics co-processor inside and the graphics memory inside will be four times more as compared to previous Symbian phones. The new graphics chip will accompanied by a 1 GHz processor for giving an excellent performance. There will be an eight megapixels camera having dual LED flash along with front facing camera for making video calls. This handset will come with eight gigabytes of onboard memory by default and you will be able to add up to 32 GB of memory through microSD cards.

Download - UC mobile-fastest phone browser, free download

2012-02-01T06:20:00.000-08:00

UC Browser is designed to make mobile Web access quicker and more convenient. It's a pretty lightweight application that manages to cram in a number of interesting features without slowing down your browsing experience too much.

Viewing WAP and web sites in UC Browser is a painless experience thanks to its multiple tabs, which allow you to have several pages loaded at once in much the same way as Firefox does. You can flick between the pages simply by tapping tabs, or by using the window icon at the bottom to pull up a pop-up screen listing the tabs you have open.

UC Browser gives you a lot of control over page layout, too. You can choose to view pages in full screen, tweak the font size, zoom images, and tweak image quality.

UC Browser has a number of interesting tools that you don't normally see in a mobile Web browser, such as an integrated download manager, built-in Clipboard for simple copy and paste, and a start page with a number of preset links to a range of categorized web sites. Of course, there's full support for bookmarks too.

There's a simple, yet effective Search tool within UC Browser that facilitates quick searching through Google, Bing or Yahoo!, allowing you to choose which search engine the browser uses. The inclusion of the 'Home' screen makes it easier to get started, because it houses shortcuts to all of your most viewed web pages.

UC Browser is a proxy-based browser, which re-renders and compresses page data on a server before sending it to the client (in much the same as Opera Mini and Skyfire do). This makes it exceptionally quick at loading pages. Unfortunately, it seems that image rendering is sacrificed somewhat in this process, and often you'll find that images won't display properly, which can get annoying.
