US, Nigeria strike ISIS fighters again from the air after killing senior leader

U.S. and Nigerian forces launched another strike against ISIS fighters in Nigeria, according to U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), just days after they carried out an operation that killed a global ISIS leader.

AFRICOM said it conducted the additional kinetic strikes against ISIS militants on Monday in coordination with Nigeria’s government. It said complete assessments are ongoing, though noted that no U.S. or Nigerian forces were harmed during the operation.

"The removal of these terrorists diminishes the group’s capacity to plan attacks that threaten the safety and security of the U.S. and our partners," AFRICOM said.

The strikes come after President Donald Trump announced late Friday that U.S. and Nigerian forces killed Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he described as ISIS’s second-in-command globally.

"Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social at the time. "He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans."

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed Saturday that U.S. forces, in coordination with the Armed Forces of Nigeria, killed al-Minuki and other ISIS leaders.

"So, for months, we hunted this top ISIS leader in Nigeria who was killing Christians, and we killed him — and his entire posse," Hegseth wrote.

The announcement also comes after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out multiple strikes against more than 30 ISIS targets in Syria in February as part of a joint military effort to "sustain relentless military pressure on remnants from the terrorist network."

"This case presents only the question of Section 2’s private enforceability, which our decision in Louisiana v. Callais … did not address," Jackson dissented, referencing Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. "Thus I see no basis for vacating the lower court’s judgment."

President Donald Trump returned from Beijing touting warmer trade ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but the summit left unresolved one of the most consequential flashpoints in U.S.-China relations: Taiwan.

"Taiwan is the center of the global technology race," former NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview. "If you want to understand the future of AI dominance, economic power and national security, you have to understand Taiwan."

Former Boston Celtics player and outspoken human-rights activist known for his criticism of the Chinese Communist Party, Freedom, said the lack of progress showed Taiwan remains a major unresolved issue at the center of America’s economic and national security competition with China. Freedom noted in his remarks that, "Trump has always understood that communist China is America's biggest long-term geopolitical challenge."

"I think President Trump has constantly emphasized that peace is preserved through strength. I believe maintaining stability in the Taiwan Strait requires strong American leadership, strategic clarity, and a credible deterrent that leaves no room for miscalculation for authoritarian regimes," said Freedom.

The pending decision comes as Taiwan continues seeking U.S. weapons meant to harden the island against a potential Chinese attack.

Trump has not publicly committed to whether to move forward with a new Taiwan arms package while the talks produced no publicly announced breakthrough on Taiwan or other key strategic disputes, making the pending arms decision a closely watched signal for both Beijing and Taipei.

A senior White House administration official told Fox News Digital that Trump will make a determination in a fairly short time regarding a new Taiwan arms package and also noted he approved $11.1 billion in arms sales to Taiwan in December 2025, which is "consistent with U.S. policy since the 1950s."

"In his first term, President Trump approved more arms sales to Taiwan than any other President in history," the official added. In his second term, President Trump approved more in his first year than all four years under President Biden."

Trump was joined in China by top American tech CEOs, including leading AI executives during the summit, underscoring how the U.S.-China rivalry over artificial intelligence has become both an economic and geopolitical arms race.

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said in a Facebook post Sunday that arms purchases from the U.S. are "the most vital deterrent" of regional conflict.

"This serves not only as a testament to the United States' security commitment to Taiwan but also as the most vital deterrent force against actions that undermine regional peace and stability—a role it has fulfilled for decades."

"Taiwan is deeply connected to America's economy, military readiness, and AI futures. So this is not just about Asia, this is about who controls the technologies that will define the next century. For that reason, I think America needs Taiwan, and Taiwan needs America," said Freedom.

Chips produced in Taiwan are used across a wide range of technologies, including consumer electronics, communications systems, and advanced defense applications.

"The rapid rise of Korea and Taiwan has been due to the long-term megatrend of semiconductors as ‘the new oil’ — the key input to economic activity — combined with the latest price-insensitive boom in AI investment," said Ian Samson, a portfolio manager at Fidelity International to Bloomberg. He added it demonstrates "the oligopolistic nature of leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing."

China has recently increased military pressure around Taiwan through large-scale air and naval activity.

A Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson posted on X Thursday, that "'Taiwan independence' and cross-Strait peace are as irreconcilable as fire and water. Safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is the biggest common denominator between China and the U.S."

A New York judge is expected to rule this morning on whether evidence seized from Luigi Mangione's backpack during his arrest at a Pennsylvania McDonald's is admissible at trial.

A different judge, overseeing his separate federal case, has already rejected the defense team's argument that the search was improper, and the evidence will be part of his federal trial.

It includes the alleged murder weapon, a 3D-printed silencer, the fake ID used to check into a Manhattan hostel and journals purported to rail against the health insurance industry.

Mangione, 28, is accused of shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, from behind outside a Manhattan Hilton hotel on Dec. 4, 2024, as the victim was walking to a business conference.

He allegedly fled the scene on a bicycle and then went to Altoona, Pennsylvania, where customers and employees recognized him from a wanted poster and called 911 five days later.

Authorities searched the bag multiple times after Mangione's arrest in the eight hours before obtaining a search warrant, defense lawyers wrote in a letter to the court. They argued the search was improper because once Mangione was arrested, he wasn't in control of the bag, so police should have obtained a warrant ifrst.

The defense has characterized the search of his bag as a violation of his constitutional rights. They also asked for statements he made between his arrest on Dec. 9 and extradition to New York 10 days later to be thrown out.

A New York judge has ruled that some key evidence seized from Luigi Mangione's backpack during his arrest at a Pennsylvania McDonald's is inadmissible at trial, while some of it can still be shown to jurors, including the suspected murder weapon.

Judge Gregory Carro's written ruling was posted online ahead of a hearing Monday morning. He agreed with the defense argument that a search of Mangione's backpack at McDonald's was unconstitutional because it had been moved away from arm's reach, however, he found that a subsequent search of the bag at the police station was lawful. During that search, an officer found the handgun allegedly used in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50.

He also found that most of Mangione's statements to police in Pennsylvania would be admissible, except for some made about his alleged fake ID after police read him his Miranda warning.

The fiancée of late Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke shared a heartbreaking post about the 29-year-old over the weekend after his death.

The Grizzlies and the NBA announced Clarke’s death last week Clarke was found dead inside his home near Los Angeles on Monday with drug paraphernalia at the residence, The Associated Press reported. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Amber Lorraine was mourning Clarke’s death over the weekend and shared a post on her Instagram account with pictures of the two together.

"There are no words to describe this feeling," she wrote on her now-private account, via the New York Post. "I never thought I’d have to live life without you."

She called Clarke "the most special person, with the biggest heart" and revealed the two were supposed to be married soon. She said the day he proposed to her was the "happiest day" of her life.

"This world isn’t the same without you," she continued.

The Grizzlies released a statement on Clarke’s death last week. He spent the last seven seasons with the team.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke," the team said. "Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.

"We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also released a statement on Clarke’s tragic passing.

"We are devastated to learn of the passing of Brandon Clarke. As one of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, Brandon was a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends and the Grizzlies organization."

Clarke got into some trouble with the law in April, as he was arrested in Arkansas on charges that included speeding and possession of a controlled substance.

He was booked into Cross County Jail on charges of improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing and exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance.

He was due in court last week.

A Santa Barbara County Fire Department helicopter evacuated 11 National Park Service employees from Santa Rosa Island on Sunday as a human-caused wildfire spread across more than 10,000 acres and threatened to cut off employee housing.

"Helicopter Rescue - Helicopter 964 successfully evacuated 11 National Park Service employees from Santa Rosa Island today amid the ongoing vegetation fire," SBC Fire wrote Sunday night on X. "The crew safely transported all personnel from employee housing — threatened with being cut off by the fire — to Oxnard Airport, with no injuries reported.

"This swift operation ensured the safety of our dedicated park staff."

The rescue came as crews battled the wind-driven blaze on the remote Channel Islands National Park island, where officials said the fire had destroyed two structures and remained 0% contained as of Sunday evening, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The smoke from the island fire blew east to the California coast and will be impacting air quality early this week, the National Weather Service in San Diego reported.

"If you've smelled smoke today, you're not imagining things," NWS San Diego wrote Sunday on X. "Smoke from the Santa Rosa Islands Fire has been drifting towards our region. The HRRR model shows near-surface smoke through at least Tuesday, assuming the fire continues."

The agency advised the public to monitor air quality at http://airnow.gov.

The blaze also poses an ecological threat on Santa Rosa Island, the second-largest of the Channel Islands and home to rare plants and animals. Park officials said the fire is threatening six plant species native to the island that are found nowhere else in the world, while the island also supports wildlife including island foxes, spotted skunks and elephant seals.

About 70 firefighters and park rangers were battling the fire Sunday night, according to the Times.

The island, located about 26 miles off Santa Barbara, has been closed to visitors at least through this week as crews continue suppression efforts.

The popular free streaming service Tubi announced on Monday the launch of the 2026 FIFA World Cup FOX Hub ahead of the world's biggest sporting event.

The hub will serve as a go-to destination for fans providing FOX Sports and FIFA programming on the games and athletes, including original and exclusive Tubi content.

Tubi, which is owned by Fox Corporation, will also simulcast the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremonies live in 4K and two matches: Mexico vs. South Africa on Thursday, June 11, and U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) vs. Paraguay on Friday, June 12.

Maryland ballot blunder triggers GOP push for federal review of blue state's voter rolls

A Maryland primary ballot mix-up has renewed Republican calls for a federal review of the state's voter rolls after some of the 400,000 primary voters requesting a mall-in ballot received the ballot of the wrong party this weekend.

Maryland’s conservative Freedom Caucus is demanding that state elections officials release Maryland’s voter rolls to the federal government for an audit after a vendor error forced the state to resend thousands of mail-in primary ballots.

"The Maryland Freedom Caucus is calling on Secretary of the Election Board, Jared DeMarinis, to immediately release Maryland's voter rolls to the federal government so a proper audit can be conducted to determine the sources of the mistake," the caucus wrote in a statement. "We caution against reissuing another 400,000 ballots and we demand to know how the state intends to differentiate between the first and second printing of these ballots."

"The citizens have a right to know the exact process by which ballots will be scrutinized," the statement continued. "With 400,000 double ballots in circulation, we need to be absolutely sure that there is one vote, one person."

WHY DOJ IS CAUGHT UP IN TWO DOZEN COURT FIGHTS OVER VOTER ROLLS

The group claimed that he mistake undermines confidence in the June 23 primary, pointing the finger at Democrats and the State Board of Elections.

"The Maryland Democrats and the bureaucrats over at the Board of Elections have proven once again that they are the biggest purveyors of voter suppression tactics in the state of Maryland," the statement read.

"After it was brought to light that roughly 400,000 mail-in ballots were sent out incorrectly, voters who received these flawed ballots will now receive a second ballot, according to the state. Many people's mail-in votes could be erroneously submitted using the old ballot and their vote suppressed because of the negligence of the Maryland Board of Elections and the Maryland Democrats."

MARYLAND DODGES SPECIFICS IN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT VOTER-ROLL CASE AS CONGRESS VOWS TO KEEP DIGGING

Maryland State Administrator of Elections Jared DeMarinis said Friday that the state was "diligently working" to eliminate doubts over the accuracy of the process.

"Mail-in voting is an integral facet of the electoral process," DeMarinis wrote in a statement. "With over 500,000 voters requesting mail-in ballots, we want to eliminate any doubt in its integrity or accuracy; that is why I have arranged the sending of replacement ballots."

"Please be assured that we are actively answering phones and responding to emails and will remain transparent as we navigate through this situation," he added. "We will make every effort to ensure that everyone affected knows the situation and how to cast their ballot. Every vote matters, your voice will be heard, and our elections will remain verified, open, transparent, and secure."

POSTAL SERVICE THRUST INTO MAIL-IN BALLOT FIGHT AS TRUMP ORDER GETS TIED UP IN COURT

Taylor Print & Visual Impressions (TPVI), Inc., the vendor, admitted the error and apologized.

"A portion of voters received ballot packets intended for a different voter segment," the TPVI Election Services Team wrote in a statement. "We understand the seriousness of this matter and the importance of accuracy and trust in all election-related communications."

Notably, "all ballots will be remailed by 5/29/2026," according to the vendor, which is leaving it up to the recipients to destroy the first ballot they received: "Voters should securely discard or destroy the original ballot materials they received and use only the replacement ballot sent in the new mailing."

HOUSE OVERSIGHT PROBE PUTS MINNESOTA ELECTIONS UNDER SCRUTINY OVER NONCITIZEN VOTING CONCERNS

"There is no risk of duplicate voting as a result of this issue," TPVI added in a statement. "Election officials have safeguards in place to ensure that only the corrected ballots included in the replacement mailing will be accepted and counted."

The error affected ballots requested and mailed before May 14, more than a month before the June 16 deadline for voters who want a ballot mailed to them. Voters who requested web-delivered ballots — which can be downloaded, printed and mailed — were not affected.

This latest issue only increases Republicans' election integrity scrutiny in the state. The Republican National Committee had already been active in pursuing the state's voter rolls, suing in December for Maryland failing to properly maintain voter rolls and comply with federal transparency requirements, pointing to registration figures the plaintiffs say are implausibly high.

"Marylanders deserve to have confidence in their elections and to know that their state is properly maintaining its voter rolls," RNC Chair Joe Gruters wrote in a statement. "The State Board of Elections has failed to do its job and remove ineligible or deceased voters from its rolls. Marylanders have a right to accurate voter rolls, which is why the RNC is suing today."

The complaint also alleged that at least two of Maryland’s most populous counties have more registered voters than adult citizens over 18, while other counties report registration rates above 95%, despite Census data showing Maryland’s statewide registration rate at about 75.6%.

The RNC argued that federal law requires states to update voter rolls, remove ineligible registrations and allow public inspection of voter list maintenance records, alleging that Maryland has repeatedly fallen short. The suit followed similar action in Hawaii and New Jersey and public records requests sent last year to nearly every state.

Fox News reached out to the RNC's election integrity unit for comment.

Heel Turn: Chaotic and violent night of wrestling in New York, examining Sami Zayn, Místico entrance and more

The thought of going to an independent pro wrestling show usually brings up images of empty bingo halls and wrestlers who are hoping to make it to the big time.

Awesome Championship Wrestling (ACW) on Saturday night in Poughkeepsie, New York, couldn’t have been further from those preconceived notions. ACW Reckoning took place in front of a packed MJN Center and aired on Triller. There were several matches that featured fireworks, TV quality productions, multiple champions and even a steel cage match to cap the night.

The event came to a controversial and chaotic end.

Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins, the tag team duo known as The Now, defended the ACW Tag Team Championship against Sent 2 Slaughter – Shawn Donovan and Danny Maff. It was supposed to be the end of a long feud that included Donovan and Maff crashing Dalishus’ wedding and Collins’ wrestling school ceremony. The four men were locked in a cage.

Collins and Maff were each on the brink of winning the belts with the cage door open. Whoever escaped first would be declared the winner. However, both Collins and Maff reached the floor simultaneously. The referees argued over which wrestler hit first but the match was seemingly declared a tie. It caused Sent 2 Slaughter to erupt in anger.

The duo took their frustrations out on ACW officials and the referees. Sent 2 Slaughter’s manager then entered the ring with Maff and locked the cage. Collins was beaten down on the outside. Vincent and Dutch, known as The Righteous, came out of the back. But instead of helping, Collins was cuffed to the cage and they stole the tag belts. Collins was forced to watch as Sent 2 Slaughter beat up Dalishus, hitting him with multiple chair shots and hitting a spike piledriver.

Dalishus’ wife emerged and started to bang on the cage as officials rushed to get it open. They finally pried the side of the cage open and she fell on top of Dalishus, trying to prevent further damage. Sent 2 Slaughter was sent off and as they reached the ramp, fans started to throw water bottles at them. Fans were shocked to see how the event came to an end.

Dalishus revealed the extent of his injuries in a post on Instagram.

"Last night’s cage match ended with me being taken from the arena on a stretcher after suffering multiple injuries. Right now, I’m still undergoing evaluation while we gather more information on the extent of the damage," he captioned the post with photos showing the extent of his injuries.

"I want to thank everyone who has reached out with concern, support, and prayers. It truly means a great deal to me and my family during this time. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts as we move forward and learn more in the days ahead."

The night also featured Randy Savage and Mike Bell being inducted into the MJN Center Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and Killer Kross and Shotzi vowing to make appearances at ACW’s next event, Indypendence Day on July 18.

Life hasn’t been fair to Sami Zayn. He lost the United States Championship to Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42, lost his rematch at Backlash and was told he had to prove himself to get back up to challenge for the title.

But over the last few weeks, Zayn has complained about the state of pro wrestling. He took issue with the Gingerbread Man at the Gingerbread Man’s funeral. He’s been unsure of why the fans have been turning the other cheek toward him when he’s done nothing wrong.

Again, with a catatonic Johnny Gargano lying by his side, Zayn went off again.

"Things are changing around here. This place is not what it used to be. You know who feels it the most? Guys like us," Zayn said. "I mean, remember wrestling? Remember when wrestling was a thing? When just being great at this and giving it your all, your passion, your heart, and as long as you did it great, the fans would always be on your side and you were guaranteed to rise because the cream always rises. Remember when that mattered?"

Zayn’s trauma dump appeared to trigger something in Gargano as "Johnny Wrestling’s" eyes followed Zayn as he walked away when the segment was over.

Pro wrestling fans have tried to grapple with Zayn seemingly being pushed out of the title picture. But there is some food for thought to go along with what Zayn has been saying.

Shockingly, it’s been more than 15 years since he debuted on WWE NXT. The veteran has seen it all in WWE. He’s been an NXT champion, an intercontinental and U.S champion and a tag team champion. He’s seen John Cena and A.J. Styles retire within weeks of each other and his best friend, Kevin Owens, sidelined due to a serious injury.

Zayn is the perfect example of anyone dealing with the ebbs and flows of a business. He is still highly regarded in WWE, obviously, but everyone else is clamoring toward the upstart rookies that are doing things he used to be able to do. Anyone who sits in the arena to watch him or sits on their couch to view "Friday Night SmackDown" at home can absolutely relate to how Zayn is feeling if it is put in the context of the WWE Universe.

Hell, Gargano is just as much a veteran as Zayn is and he hasn’t been able to speak in weeks.

The fact is that Zayn’s character development is becoming more relatable by the week. How he deals with time starting to pass him by is going to be interesting to see. SmackDown has had a few call-ups over the last month with Ricky Saints joining Williams on the roster and Carmelo Hayes returning to the fray on Friday.

I haven't talked to Mr. Nielsen yet, but I'm gonna go ahead and file Dover under the "miss" category in terms of things that have worked over the year.

This didn't work. NASCAR tried to play around with the All-Star race, and they got a little cutesy if you ask me. Hell, you don't even have to ask me. You can ask the drivers! They'll be the first to tell you that this "All-Star" weekend just didn't work. You'll see.

Now, that doesn't mean we're rudderless today. We've got plenty to talk about! If I needed a good NASCAR race to keep my job, I would've been fired a long time ago.

OK, four tires, enough fuel to get us to Charlotte for the longest race of the year, and maybe a vacation for Natalie after a long work week ... Monday Morning Pit-Stop — the 'That All-Star Race STUNK, Let's Never Do It Again' edition — is LIVE!

We'll get to Bubba here in a minute, but we have to start with Dover and a question for everyone ...

Did NASCAR do anything right this weekend? I'm serious. I'm all for trying new things. Lord knows NASCAR has done it plenty with this race over the years.

This year, though? It was just miss after miss after miss. Nothing worked.

For starters, they eliminated "The Open," which, for years now, has been the best part of "All-Star" weekend. That was the qualifying race to see which driver(s) not eligible for the main event raced their way into it. They were, easily, the best part of the weekend. And NASCAR nixed it this year.

Dumb.

They also made the actual race a billion laps long. I lost count at one point. I'm serious. I couldn't keep up. When I turned this automobile race on — and EXHIBITION race, mind you — and saw that it was 300(ish) laps, I was floored. I couldn't believe it. This is supposed to be a fun, quick, non-taxing race. They turned it into one long practice for next week's Coke 600.

And I mean that literally. They had a 90-minute practice session Saturday.

Ninety minutes!

And it meant NOTHING. Could you imagine watching a 300-lap race where the points don't matter? Where the winner gets nothing, beyond a measly $1 million check? OK, measly is a strong word, but you know what I mean.

KYLE BUSCH TURNS NASTY DURING VIOLENT NASCAR RACE, F-BOMBS FLY IN WILD RADIO RANT & SPECTATORS WRECK!

Just listen to the two Chases (Briscoe and Elliott) after this weekend's marathon. Does this sound like two drivers who enjoyed themselves out there?

Yeah, they were miserable. Come on. What are we doing here? This race used to be an "event." You had "The Open" in the early evening, and then the main race at night.

Yesterday, we had no real open, and then put the main race at 1 p.m. ET against the PGA Championship. I'm just not sure Dover is the right track for a race that doesn't matter. Feel like it's a bit of disservice to the fans, right?

There is some speculation that Dover could be in trouble entirely moving forward. That would be a mistake. The fans came out yesterday for a race that didn't matter and was inexplicably long. The racing itself was decent.

Again, Chase didn't have the best time out there, but Denny Hamlin won and there were a bunch of pile-ups in the opening few segments. I've certainly seen worse. I just don't need to see it as an "All-Star" race.

It wasn't awful. It just wasn't what you'd expect from an "All-Star" weekend. That's all. It was weird from the minute they unloaded the trucks, and it never got any better.

Oh well. Onwards, I reckon.

Now, let's check in with Bubba Wallace after his pit road confrontation with Christopher Bell last weekend!

So, let me get this straight ... Bubba got wrecked by someone, and then decided to "race the dogs--t" out of the rest of the field for the final 10 laps because he was "seeing red"? Do I have that right?

Okie dokie. Sounds like a plan! Had Bubba wrecked someone whilst "racing the dogsh---" out of them, this would be a bigger story. But, he didn't. He just doored anyone who tried to get in his way. A little childish? Perhaps. I'm sure y'all will let me know about it, one way or the other!

Decker parked her truck during Friday's race at Dover after just 81 laps after NASCAR black-flagged her for being too slow. This was, by my count, the second time this year she's been black-flagged for being too slow. Impressive.

Papa Johns drone delivery skips the pizza

Your next Papa Johns order could soon drop from the sky. Just do not expect a large pepperoni pizza to come floating down yet.

Papa Johns has launched a drone delivery test with Wing, the drone company owned by Alphabet. The first flights are happening near Sun Valley Commons in Indian Trail, North Carolina, outside Charlotte. Eligible customers can order through the Wing app and receive a limited menu of Papa Johns Oven Toasted Sandwiches, including Philly Cheesesteak, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Steak & Mushroom.

Even though Little Caesars is already testing drone delivery for full-size pizzas in Texas, Papa Johns is taking a different route: sandwiches first. For now, the company is using a smaller, drone-friendly menu while it works with Wing on aerodynamically designed packaging that could help future pizza orders fly more smoothly.

UBER EATS TAKES FLIGHT WITH DRONE DELIVERIES

A sandwich box is compact. A pizza box is wide, flat and fussy. Anyone who has ever carried a pizza home on the passenger seat of their vehicle knows the rule. Keep it level or prepare for a cheese landslide. That same problem gets trickier when a drone is involved. Drones have payload limits. They also need packages that fit their delivery systems and stay stable during flight.

That helps explain why Papa Johns is starting with sandwiches. Wing says the companies are also working on custom, aerodynamic packaging informed by both Papa Johns and Wing. In other words, the sandwich test may be the starting point, while the companies figure out how to package food for future drone delivery. So, for now, the sky is open for toasted sandwiches. The pizza has to wait.

The test is limited to residents near Sun Valley Commons in Indian Trail, North Carolina. Eligible customers can place orders through the Wing app and choose from a curated menu of Papa Johns Oven Toasted Sandwiches. Charlotte-area residents can check delivery eligibility and sign up for updates through Wing's delivery page at wing.com/get-delivery

For now, customers order through Wing. However, the longer-term plan is to connect Wing's drone network directly with Papa Johns' own app and its proprietary AI-powered food ordering agent, powered by Google Cloud. That could eventually make drone delivery feel less like a separate test and more like another delivery option inside the Papa Johns ordering experience. Wing says the goal goes beyond one restaurant test. This is Wing's first direct partnership with a national restaurant brand. It also builds on Papa Johns' existing relationship with Alphabet through Google Cloud. The company sees the partnership as a way to build a broader model for AI-powered restaurant ordering and drone delivery.

"This partnership is a true collaboration, bringing together Wing's pioneering technology and Papa Johns commitment to innovation," said Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer at Wing. "Together, we are defining a new blueprint for how agentic commerce and industry-leading operational design will shape the future of food delivery."

Papa Johns says the effort is about building the future of hot delivery. That means more than strapping food to a drone. Workers need to prepare orders differently. Restaurants need space for pickup. The packaging has to survive the trip. The technology also has to fit into a busy lunch or dinner rush without slowing the store down. That last part may be the real test. A drone delivery system only works if it helps during the chaos, not after it.

ROBOTS ARE TAKING OVER UBER EATS DELIVERIES. IS YOUR CITY NEXT?

Pizza seems perfect for fast delivery. It is hot, familiar and often ordered by people who want food quickly. Yet pizza boxes create several problems for drone companies. A pizza box has a large surface area. That can affect stability. The box also needs to stay flat. A sandwich can tolerate a little movement. A hot pizza with melted cheese and toppings cannot.

That is why other companies have been working on bigger drones and special delivery setups. Flytrex recently announced a partnership with Little Caesars in Wylie, Texas, using its Sky2 drone. The company says the drone can carry up to 8.8 pounds, travel up to four miles and deliver up to two large pizzas with drinks. That shows pizza delivery by drone can happen. It also shows why Papa Johns may be taking a slower path.

Drone delivery has been talked about for years, but it still feels rare for many communities. Wing already works with companies such as Walmart and DoorDash, and it has expanded service in several metro areas.

Still, the business has to clear several hurdles. The weather can disrupt flights. Regulations can limit how drones operate. Restaurants have to train staff. Customers also need to live in the right delivery zone. Then there is the money. A drone can look amazing in a promo video. The tougher question is whether each delivery makes financial sense when the system runs every day.

MAN VS MACHINE: PHILADELPHIANS AREN'T TAKING KINDLY TO SHARING SIDEWALKS WITH DELIVERY ROBOTS

If you live near the test area, this could be a fun way to try a faster food delivery option. It may also give you a preview of where takeout is heading. However, drone delivery will probably roll out in small steps. At least at first. Customers need to live in the right delivery zone, order through the right app and choose items the drone system can carry safely.

The bigger shift could come later. If Wing's system connects directly with the Papa Johns app, customers may eventually see drone delivery as one more option at checkout. That would make the experience feel much more normal than opening a separate drone app just to order lunch. For customers, the biggest benefits could be speed and convenience. A drone can avoid traffic, parking issues and some of the delays that hit traditional delivery during peak hours.

At the same time, there are practical questions. People may wonder about noise, safety, privacy and whether drones belong over our neighborhoods. Those concerns will no doubt grow as more restaurants join in.

Papa Johns flying sandwiches instead of pizza feels a little backwards at first. After all, it is a pizza chain. But once you think about a hot pie bouncing around under a drone, the sandwich-first approach starts to make sense. The company gets to test the tech, customers get a faster delivery option and the pizza stays with the regular delivery crew until the drone setup can handle a hot pie without turning it into a cheesy mess.

Greek officials have unveiled the interior of a massive ancient tomb possibly linked to Alexander the Great as archaeologists continue excavation and restoration work.

Greece's Ministry of Culture announced the news in a statement on May 11.

The excavation centers around the Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis, the ruins of an ancient Macedonian city in northern Greece, about 60 miles northeast of Thessaloniki.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S LONG-LOST CITY LOCATED AFTER NEARLY TWO MILLENNIA: ‘ABSOLUTELY STUNNING’

Greek officials said restoration work at the Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis has uncovered the site's full enclosure for the first time, revealing the massive scale of the ancient Macedonian monument.

The enclosure, built in the fourth century B.C., measures roughly 1,630 feet in circumference. It surrounds a burial mound spanning more than 20 acres, as Cover Media reported.

Pictures released by the ministry show marble-lined passageways, elaborate architecture and fine sculptural details that suggest the structure was built for a member of the Macedonian elite.

Officials removed older metal supports to make the monument's interior fully visible, and future plans include installing the tomb's monumental double-leaf Macedonian marble door and restoring parts of the sphinx sculptures that once guarded the entrance.

"The Kasta Tomb is a unique and magnificent Macedonian monument, which, through the completion of the work of restoring its geometry, but also revealing the entire enclosure, now clearly highlights its historical importance and its value," Lina Mendoni, Greek minister of culture, said in a translated statement.

Amphipolis is "associated with major figures of the Kingdom of Macedon, such as the three generals of Alexander the Great, Nearchus, Hephaestion and Laomedon, who resided in the city," according to the Ministry of Culture's website.

"After Alexander's death, the city’s garrison remained loyal to his mother Olympias and only agreed to surrender the city to Cassander, one of Alexander’s successors, on her orders," the website notes.

"Cassander imprisoned Alexander’s wife Roxana and his son Alexander IV in Amphipolis and ordered their murder."

Alexander the Great, who lived from 356 B.C. to 323 B.C., is known for establishing the vast Macedonian Empire across parts of Europe, Asia and Africa as a young man.

He defeated the Persian Empire — then the dominant superpower of the ancient world — before dying at age 32 under mysterious circumstances, despite never losing a battle.

Researchers believed Kasta Tomb was "built for someone very close to Alexander the Great," such as his mother, one of his wives or one of his friends, National Geographic reported in 2014.

TABLER STATION, W.V. — Virginia’s shift toward higher taxes and new regulations is triggering an interstate economic "brawl," as West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey moves to lure businesses and workers across the border.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger has promoted an "affordability agenda," but a wave of proposed tax increases and regulatory changes from legislative Democrats has opened an opportunity for neighboring states to compete for businesses and residents.

Even though some of these proposals never made it to Spanberger's desk or claimed her signature, the political climate has prompted West Virginia officials to actively target Virginia’s workforce and employers, pitching lower taxes and fewer regulations as a competitive alternative.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Morrisey said he plans to take that pitch directly into Virginia communities, including Loudoun County, to draw businesses and workers into West Virginia.

"We're going to be spending some time in Loudoun County and all across Virginia on making the pitch and the comparison of the direction that West Virginia is moving in [and] the direction Virginia is going in," Morrisey told Fox News Digital on the sidelines of the announcement of a new 275-acre commercial tax district he said will bring $200 million in economic investment to the three-county Eastern Panhandle region.

"The backyard brawl for our state’s future is being won both at the kitchen table and in the marketplace," Morrisey said, noting that the Tabler Station project he unveiled is just one of many similar plans-in-action around the state.

The area is home to West Virginia’s nationally-prevalent apple industry — to the point the local high school team is the "Musselman Applemen." The area also boasts major industrial plants including a major Clorox facility that is advertising job openings to passersby on Interstate 81.

"While Virginia chooses to burden its citizens and job creators with higher taxes, West Virginia is choosing freedom, fiscal responsibility, and a tax climate that makes our state more competitive for business than our neighbor."

Morrisey said he and his allies in Charleston’s GOP supermajority are making all of West Virginia "open for business."

He added that Berkeley and adjacent Jefferson County — which border both Loudoun County in Virginia and Washington County in high-tax Maryland — should be a model for what regional business and tourism should look like.

The governor also alluded to a growing trend of Washington, D.C.-area workers moving into West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, despite long commutes and limited rail service.

The Democratic governor has noted she did not sign several proposed tax measures that never reached her desk, though she did approve a minimum wage increase and higher payroll contributions for family leave.

State Sen. Jason Barrett, R-Martinsburg — who crafted the economic development plans earning Morrisey's signature — said more people are already coming to his area along the Virginia line to "spend money, support local businesses and really help economic development."

Barrett's new law includes a framework for the state to create special tax districts in which a portion of state revenues is redirected to counties — as only the legislature has the power to implement tax structures. It enacts

The law stipulates that redirected taxes may not "adversely effect" the state budget. Barrett's law creates additional economic districts in Harpers Ferry, Henderson, Bridgeport, Princeton, Beckley and Wheeling.

With the new residents and a broader tax base, Morrisey said he hopes areas like Berkeley and Jefferson increase their visibility as a "travel destination" and one for youth sporting events for which the Tabler Station district revenue will be used to create – accruing even more financial benefits for West Virginians.

While Richmond was seeking tax hikes, Morrisey in April signed a 5% income tax cut across the board and brought Charleston’s tax code in line with President Donald Trump’s federal tax-cut provisions.

Morrisey told the crowd in Tabler Station that it won’t be his last visit to the Virginia borderlands on the economic development front, adding separately to Fox News Digital that statewide he projects 12,000 new jobs to have been added in the past six months amid a total of $12.5 billion in private-sector investment.

Spanberger, meanwhile, announced Monday that she would be taking her own "economic development" tour of Virginia, saying in a statement that "from day one, my focus has been building an economy that works for every Virginian and delivers real results for families, businesses, and communities."

Spanberger said her administration has already made tour-stops in Harrisonburg and Fairfax to promote "bringing people together to shape a clear, forward-looking plan."

While parts of West Virginia, particularly in the south, continue to struggle with long-term shifts in the energy industry, population growth and rising state revenues have enabled broad tax cuts — sharpening the contrast with neighboring Virginia’s push toward new taxes and regulations.

Cassidy primary defeat is a 'loss for the country,' Romney says

Sen. Bill Cassidy’s loss in the Louisiana Republican Primary over the weekend is "a loss for the country," former Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said.

Cassidy’s loss comes five years after he voted to convict President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial for his role in the violent Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"The Senate to now lose an exceptionally brilliant and creative mind, an MD who chairs healthcare, and a person of character," Romney wrote Sunday in a post on X. "Bill Cassidy’s departure is a loss for the country."

Trump-backed Rep. Julia Letlow and Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming both topped Cassidy in Saturday's GOP primary. They will advance to next month's runoff for the Republican nomination, while Cassidy becomes the first elected Republican senator to lose renomination since Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana in 2012.

TRUMP SCORES MAJOR REPUBLICAN PRIMARY VICTORY AS CASSIDY OUSTED IN LOUISIANA

After Cassidy was defeated, Trump took to social media to revel in the senator's ouster.

"His disloyalty to the man who got him elected is now a part of a legend, and it’s nice to see that his political career is OVER!" Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Romney, a vocal critic of Trump who voted to convict him during both of his impeachment proceedings in 2020 and 2021, wasn’t the only Republican senator to weigh in on Cassidy’s defeat.

Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., said Cassidy’s loss was expected during an interview on Fox News’ "The Sunday Briefing."

"Unless you're your god's perfect idiot, the result was predictable," Kennedy said. "I mean, ground control to Major Tom. The polls have shown for well over a year that Sen. Cassidy was in trouble."

Kennedy said Trump's endorsement of Letlow "was sort of the icing on the cake."

"Bill knew that, but he decided to run anyway," Kennedy added. "I respect that. I thank him for his service."

Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., argued Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that Cassidy’s primary defeat was a direct result of the senator's 2021 vote to convict Trump during his second impeachment trial, saying Republicans who "try to destroy" Trump politically will face consequences from GOP voters.

"There’s no room in this party to destroy his agenda or to destroy him and his family as a Republican," Graham said. Cassidy said in his concession speech to his supporters that "when you participate in democracy, sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want it to."

"But you don't pout, you don't whine. You don't claim the election was stolen…. You don't manufacture some excuse," Cassidy said in an apparent jab at Trump. "You thank the voters for the privilege of representing the state or the country for as long as you've had that privilege. And that's what I'm doing right now."
