NIT Championship: Dayton Wins!
In a game that the North Carolina Tar Heels did not belong in the Dayton Flyers win the 2010 NIT Championship. Dayton was actually favored to win the game by 3 point. The posted total for the game was 139 points. The total for the game actually had opened up at 136 points at most online Sportsbooks. Dayton pretty much dominated the entire game.

When looking back at how North Carolina made it to the NIT Championship they were very lucky. It also proved so since Dayton led almost the entire game. North Carolina did beat some good opponents making it to the final game but if you look back at how they won you would of bet against them tonight. Dayton also beat some quality opponents but unlike North Carolina this Dayton team was here to win.
Dayton was extremely solid defensively through out the NIT tournament including the NIT Championship game. We all know that defense wins championships. You might just want to take a lesson from this game and bet Butler in the 2010 Final Four game. Butler has also played extremely good defensively through the 201 NCAA basketball tournament. Butler is currently favored by 1 point in the NCAA Final Four game against Michigan State just like Dayton was favored in the 2010 NIT Championship game.

Jim Joyce-Controversial Call

2010-06-02T23:58:00.000-07:00

James A. Joyce III was born October 3, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio.He is an umpire in Major League Baseball who has worked in the American League (AL) from 1987 to 1999 and throughout both major leagues since 2000. In Green State University,he had attended bowling. He wears uniform number 66 while he wore a uniform numbered 6 in the American League). he was similarly like to that of now-retired umpire Bruce Froemming whose strike call is extremely loud and enthusiastic,.

Joyce has umpired the following: All-Star Game (1994 and 2001), the Division Series (1995, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003), the League Championship Series (1997, 2004, 2006), and theWorld Series (1999 and 2001). After graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1977, he umpired in the Midwest League (1978-1979), the Florida Instructional League (1978), theTexas League (1980), the Pacific Coast League (1981-1986, 1988), the International League (1987), and the Dominican League (1983).

when Nolan Ryan recorded his 5,000th career strikeout ,Joyce was the second base umpire and was the first base umpire when Robin Yount reached his 3,000th hit.

Below are the list of his crews dated 2008-2010

2008 season included crew chief Tim Tschida, Jeff Nelson, and Mark Carlson.
2009 season includes crew chief Derryl Cousins, Bill Miller, and Brian Runge.
2010 season includes crew chief Derryl Cousins, Marvin Hudson and Jim Wolf.

Controversial call

Joyce made a controversial call at first base on June 2, 2010, ruling baserunner Jason Donald of the Cleveland Indians safe. Had the call gone the other way, pitcher Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers would have completed a perfect game, who had retired the previous 26 Indians batters without allowing a single base runner. It was shown in the replays that the call was incorrect, and that Donald had in fact been out at first.

"The Tigers' fans have been cheated out of the greatest pitching experience in Tiger history."said Tigers' color commentators. Joyce had spoken with the media following the game and admitted he had committed a mistake:James stated that "I just cost the kid a perfect game. I thought he beat the throw. I was convinced he beat the throw until I saw the replay. It was the biggest call of my career." Joyce apologized to Galarraga following the game after he saw the replay. A perfect game by Galarraga would have set a Major League record of three perfect games in twenty-three days.
So whatever it is,we really coommit mistakes that would twist most of our lives events.

Hubble Telescope and the Hubble Images

2010-04-24T05:23:00.000-07:00

Have you ever wonder what the view of the vast universe? What about the stars that light up in the sky, have you ever ask yourself how and what's happening with in it? NASA has released a recent image that shows a star factory in actionIt was the Hubble telescope marks two decades in space this month, where it has captured stunning images of the Carina nebula that have had a profound effect on our understanding of the universe.
New York University Paul Delaney said the image of the Carina nebula, one of the largest star formation regions that exists, captures "the wonderful interplay between dust, gas and stellar embryos."
Although the way stars are formed has been known for some time, there was no way to get a front-row view of the action until Hubble.
Delaney told CTV News Channel this week "Hubble has been able to peel aside some of the veils which have always annoyed astronomers and gotten right into the deepest parts of star formation areas," .
"It's a vindication of the stellar evolutionary theories, and that's really what Hubble has been about," he said. "It has been able to confirm, deny and advance the theories of astrophysics in such a wonderfully pictorial way."

In another photo of deep space taken by Hubble with an exposure of one million seconds, or four and a half days, nearly 10,000 galaxies are visible, Delaney added. Some of the galaxies are younger than one billion years old, which means the image allows scientists to see back 12 million years in time.
Hubble looks through many different filters -- including ultraviolet and infrared ones -- to capture "the full breadth and beauty of the image," Delaney explained.
Aside from being admired for their beauty, the images Hubble has captured have also proved useful. They have helped scientists determine the age of the universe and how planets form -- and has even supported the idea that there is a mysterious form of dark energy in the universe, holding everything together.
But the clarity of the images used to be a lot worse.
When Hubble was first launched into orbit on the space shuttle Discovery on April 24, 1990, the initial images it captured were distorted due to an improperly ground mirror. In 1993, corrective lenses were installed on the telescope by astronauts to fix the problem.
Also, the technology of the telescope has been updated and maintained over the years through five servicing missions, each of which has increased its power. On the last Hubble servicing mission in May 2009, it was made 100 times more powerful than when it was launched.
Earlier this year, the telescope captured images of Pluto that surprised colour astronomers -- the planet's colours were changing and its ice sheets shifting.
Over the years, Hubble has looked at more than 300,000 celestial objects and built an archive of more than 500,000 images, according to NASA.
Hubble, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble, is the first major optical telescope to be placed in space, a location that affords it an unobstructed view of the universe.
The telescope is about 13 metres long and does not travel to any of the celestial objects it captures images of. It orbits the Earth at a height of about 570 kilometres.
Hubble will eventually be replaced by its successor, the larger James Webb space telescope. The Webb has a planned 2014 launch date. The Webb has a much larger mirror than that in the Hubble space telescope, and means that the Webb will be able to look farther into space.

Easter sunday-Rising from the dead

2010-04-04T06:50:00.000-07:00

Easter sunday-Rising from the dead

The story of Easter is one of hope and of good triumphing over evil. His message of universal love is why so many Christians are so happy and so optimistic even in the face of immense adversity.

Chapter 28, the Book of Matthew, King James Version:

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Gmail Ninja Features

2010-04-01T22:05:00.000-07:00

Restoring privacy. This will not only disable Buzz in Gmail, it will also delete your Google Profile and Buzz posts. It will also disconnect any connected sites and remove anyone you are following. Google will give you a chance to change your mind—but don’t do it! Get rid of the sucker.
Monitor multiple accounts. Gmail will not allow you to have multiple accounts open in one browser. To get around this limitation, you could open your second Gmail account in a different browser. For example, if your main browser is Firefox, you could open your second Gmail account in Google Chrome or Opera. If you’re using Firefox, a more efficient and elegant way to do this is to install an add-on such as Gmail Notifier or Gmail Manager, which will let you monitor several Gmail accounts at the same time and alert you when you get new mail. If you’re running Linux, you can install an excellent program called Check Gmail and run an instance for each Gmail account you wish to monitor.

Organize inbox. A cluttered inbox makes it difficult to immediately see important messages. Create and use colorful labels that can work like folders. Combine these with filters (in the Settings menu) to automatically label messages as they come in. For example, I’ve created a label called “Personal” and get Gmail to automatically apply this label to messages from my family members and friends.
Archive old messages so they don’t crowd your inbox. Don’t worry if you no longer see them in your inbox; they are still accessible from the “All Mail” link.
Select one or several messages and choose “Move to” to label and archive them all in one operation.
Checking out what’s new. Gmail Labs, which is part of Google Labs adds some cool, experimental features to Gmail. To turn on Labs, simply go to the Lab preferences panel in the Settings menu and choose the features you want to activate.
For example, you can set Gmail to give you automatic previews of photos from Picasa or Flickr or documents from Google Docs. You can also enable an Undo Send feature that delays the sending of a message by up to 20 seconds, giving you time to cancel an inappropriate e-mail, even after you’ve pressed the “Send” button.
One Labs feature I find useful is the “Mark as Read” button, which saves you the trouble of going to the “More actions” drop-down menu.
Enabling the “Superstars” feature in Labs will give you 11 more ways to highlight important messages.
To get a quick glimpse of your appointments on the left side of your inbox, enable the Google Calendar gadget.
Log out other sessions. If you’re not sure if you’ve logged out of a Gmail session at some Internet cafe, don’t worry. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Details” link next to the “Last account activity” indicator. A pop-up window will give the last five sessions using your account, and give the option of signing out all other sessions except the current one. This feature is also a good way to verify that nobody else is accessing your Gmail account.
Use Gmail as an online drive. Google bumped up the free storage on Gmail accounts to about seven gigabytes.Use some of that to store your files using a Firefox attachment called Gspace. Call up Gspace in the Firefox tools menu. You can’t save a file larger than Gmail’s maximum attachment size, which is 20 megabytes. Files saved to Gmail drive appear as attachments in messages sent. Use filters to automatically label and archive such files so they don’t clutter up in inbox—just like a good Gmail ninja should.

CIVIL RIGHTS LEGEND -Dorothy Height Celebrates 98th Birthday in D.C. Hospital

On March 24,the Civil rights legend Dorothy L. Height celebrated her 98th birthday while recovering from a brief illness at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.,

Deemed as the “godmother of the civil rights movement,”She has received many significant national honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom award, the Congressional Gold Medal and the NAACP Spingarn Medal.

Dorothy Height was the only female identified as an equal among the “Big Six” in the United Civil Rights Leadership with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., A. Phillip Randolph, Roy Wilkins, Whitney H. Young and Floyd McKissick.

While serving as president emerita of the National Council of Negro Women, Height is also the driving force behind the Black Family Reunion, an annual celebration that honors African-American family values.

West Side Story-Dole Philippines School Played

2010-03-27T06:16:00.000-07:00

Dole Philippines School,Located at Polomolok , South Cotabato played the West Side Story.

Westside story is the award winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliette. The feuding families become two warring New York City gangs- the white Jets led by Riff and the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo. Their hatred escalates to a point where neither can coexist with any form of understanding. But when Riff's best friend (and former Jet) Tony and Bernardo's younger sister Maria meet at a dance, no one can do anything to stop their love. Maria and Tony begin meeting in secret, planning to run away. Then the Skarks and Jets plan a rumble under the highway - whoever wins gains control of the streets. Maria sends Tony to stop it, hoping it can end the violence. It goes terribly wrong, and before the lovers know what's happened, tragedy strikes and doesn't stop until the climatic and heartbreaking ending.

It is also a musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in New York City, where rival street gangs (the Jets and the Sharks) battle for territory and respect. Is the love affair between former Jets leader Tony, and Maria, sister to Sharks' leader Bernardo, doomed to failure?
This movie transplants the classic tale of "Romeo and Juliet" to New York City in the 1950s. The two feuding families are replaced by brawling street gangs. The Montagues become the Anglo Jets, led by Riff, and the Capulets become the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo. At a dance, Tony, former leader of the Jets and Riff's best friend, and Maria, Bernardo's little sister, see each other across the room and it's love at first sight. With opposition from both sides, they meet secretly and their love grows deeper. However, the gangs are plotting one last rumble, a fight that will finally end the battle for control of the streets. Will Tony and Maria's love carry through a battle that threatens to destroy the people they love around them?

Feinstein, 20, a University of Pittsburgh junior from Valley Forge, has done this for members of both political parties. And that taught her something."
