What do I want for Christmas? A portable hard drive. These are great for keeping back up copies of important files, pictures, and music. It's always good to back up your computer, it's especially important to have back ups of all your family photos. These valuables are irreplaceable and should be copied to a portable hard drive for safe keeping. That's why I will be adding a portable hard drive to my Christmas wish list.

Volunteer to help those less fortunate

So today my friends and I volunteered to help prepare turkey dinners that will be served to the homeless this Thanksgiving. We spent about 2 1/2 hours peeling turkey off the bones. It was a little gross at first, but we knew it was for a good cause. 17,000 people are expected to be fed this Thanksgiving thanks to the many volunteers, including me and my friends, who helped out this week. It wasn't a huge sacrifice, but it felt good.

I would encourage everyone to spend a few hours, if they can, this week to help in any way they can. You don't have to spend your whole Thanksgiving at a homeless shelter serving food. You can help in other ways either before or after Thanksgiving, and throughout the year. There's always an opportunity to volunteer your time, you just have to be willing to do it. Try to think of all the people less fortunate than yourself this Holiday season, and make an effort to help them out this year. And while you're at it, try to get your friends and family to help too. It will bring you all closer together, and you'll have more fun, however you decide to help.

Regis Philbin Last Show Today

Today was Regis Philbin's last day on his daytime TV talk show, Regis and Kelly. Regis had hosted the show with current host Kelly Ripa for the last 10 years and has been on television for over 45 years. He holds the Guiness World Record for the most hours on television, hosting several TV talk and game shows.

Although I never really watched the show, I am sad to see him leave and whoever becomes Kelly's new co-host will have some very large shoes to fill.

Big Business

So I'm addicted to yet another Facebook game. This time it's "Big Business" I think I like it because it's like running your own city/business in that, you produce, process and sell goods to make money. But you also need to manage people and the environment.

The graphics are good and the game loads quickly. There isn't any lag, or freezing, like with the other games I got hooked on. Namely Frontierville. That game was terrible for load time, and lag. I stopped playing it because of that.

I tried the new Pioneer Trail to see if it was any better, but it was just as bad. So I'm not playing that one either :-(

So my vacation is almost over. Today is my last day off, and unfortunately, I have to return to work tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing my friends at work, but not looking forward to actually working.

Luckily, I am already planning my next vacation some time in October :-)

Zumba

I've been pretty good about working out every week. Last week I did zumba 4 times and walked twice. The week before I did zumba 3 times and walked 3 times.

But now today is Friday and I've only done zumba once so far this week, and walked twice. I have 2 more days to catch up, but I hope it will be enough to keep up. I was hoping to see some weight loss by early next week, since I've been working out consistently the past few weeks.

This week was a bit of a challenge because I worked a lot of overtime at my job and got home late each day. I was too tired to do anything, so I just sat in front of the TV. That was not good :-(

Another Dentist Trip

I have to go to the dentist again tomorrow to get a permanent crown for one of my teeth. That's the last thing I need done before getting my wisdom teeth removed. I need to wait for the referral letter, then I can set up an appointment for a consultation. I want to ask them if it's possible for me to be awake when they take them out. I don't like the idea of being put to sleep, but I don't know if I want to sit in the chair for an hour while they crack and yank my teeth out. I guess I will have to wait and see what the oral surgeon advises.

Iris at Kodak Theater

Cirque du Soleil's newest show to hit southern California is now playing at the Kodak theater in Hollywood. It's a pretty good show, not one of my favorites, but worth going to see.

I don't want to share too much, to ruin it for everyone, but it does focus on Hollywood and movie making.

Zumba

So I'm trying a new workout routine, which includes trying Zumba for the first time. I found a beginner video on youtube which is very easy to follow, and is actually a pretty good workout. So I burn while I learn. lol

My goal is to Zumba at least 3 days a week, and walk 3 days a week. I'm not really into strength training, but I think I should try to add weight lifting a few times here and there. For now, I just want to burn the extra fat around my mid section, and my thighs. After that, I will focus on toning my abs and arms.

I've been working out off and on with the Nintendo Wii game, EA Sports (the first version) and it's been a good workout, but now I'm trying to get some variety so I don't get tired of doing the same thing day after day. With Zumba, there are a ton of dance moves to keep each workout fresh.

Home Warranty Mistake

One of my neighbors' air conditioning broke about a month ago. They have been trying to get it fixed for over a month now. The reason it's taking so long? Their home warranty service sucks. Like many people who buy a new home, they decided to purchase a home warranty offered to them when they moved into their new place. They wanted to make sure they were covered in case something broke down. Well, now their A/C broke so when they called the warranty company, it took some time and effort just to get an appointment. When the A/C guy finally came over to check out their problem, he told them he needed to order parts and would have to make another appointment to come back and fix the problem.

My neighbors made another appointment, only to have the company cancel on them 3 days before. Then when they finally came out again to fix the A/C, they told my neighbors they couldn't do any work, because the machinery they brought was too big to fit in their furnace opening. So now they will have to make another appointment for them to come back with the right equipment and hopefully they will finally get their air conditioning working.

The moral of this story: Home Warranty Programs are not always the best option. Sometimes it's better to find your own repair company and get your problem fixed when you need it.

Dentist Trip

Okay, so I had to go to the dentist again last week. It's been about 1 year or so since my last visit, and I'm trying to go more often. I still haven't had my wisdom teeth taken out. I'm such a procrastinator

I only had 1 cavity, but I had to get a crown on another tooth because there was a crack in it. If the dentist didn't catch it in time, it would have been way worse. I go back in 2 weeks to get the permanent crown and then I need to get a referral to get my wisdom teeth removed. That's going to suck, but it has to be done :-(

My Weight Loss Progress

I have been trying for a while now to lose weight, but I can never really stick to any one program. I try to exercise every week, but it's not consistent. I usually eat pretty good, but again, it's hard to be consistent, and eat well all the time.

My goal is to lose 20 pounds. I haven't lost any yet. Currently, I am at 150 and am trying to get down to 130 so that I can fit into all my cute capri pants. And with Summer just around the corner, I definitely want to fit into my 2 piece bathing suit.

I just need to try harder and exercise more often.

4 Hour Trip to the Dentist

Today I spent 4 hours at the dentist getting a root canal and crown. I started going last week because I had a little pain on one side of my mouth, which I was hoping was just a cavity. But no, it was a root canal.

My first visit to the dentist in 5 years, and I had to have a root canal (which I got today), get my wisdom teeth removed (later on), and get fillings for 6 cavities (one of which is in my wisdom tooth).

So I decided I am never eating candy again, I will try to drink less soda, and I will really try to go to the dentist more often. This last one will be extra difficult because I hate going to the dentist. The last time I went was 5 years ago, but before that, I hadn't gone for over 15 years, since I was a kid. And I only went these last 2 times because I felt pain. Otherwise I would never go.

I hate to be preachy, but if you haven't been recently, do yourself a favor, save yourself hours in the dentist chair, and go see a dentist ASAP.

Facebook - Mafia Wars

I'm really obsessed with leveling up on Mafia Wars. I keep adding points to my energy, and nothing else. I even changed from Mogul to Maniac in order to replenish energy faster. I'm almost at level 300. And my mafia is over 300+ strong. I'm catching up and passing most of my friends.

Need Help - Looking for a legitamate Work at Home job

I'm trying to help my friend find ways to make money from home. She's going through a divorce, and will soon be a single mother, raising a 2 year old. She doesn't make much money and is having trouble making ends meet.

She works 40 hours a week at her "real" job, and works 1 day a week at a part time job in the mall. She can't really spend too much time working outside the house since she has to take care of her 2 year old.

If anyone out there know of any legitimate work at home jobs that she could do, please comment here so I can let her know. She's willing to try anything (almost anything), so don't be shy.

Facebook has kept me busy

I haven't blogged in a long time because I discovered Facebook, and have been hooked on it. I love playing the games and building farms, towns, and especially playing Mafia Wars. That's my favorite. I'm on level 230 and I'm trying to get my mafia to grow to over 500.

I'm obsessed with collecting and vaulting each collection from each city. I have most of NY and Cuba collections done.

Currently, I am trying to finish with New York jobs so I can move on to Cuba. I kind of started Cuba and Moscow already, but I've really been focusing on NY to get that done ASAP. I've got my Bangkok passport, but I'm not going to do any jobs until I at least finish NY.

Computer infected with a virus

I haven't been keeping up to date with my blogs because I'm trying to fight of a computer virus. I think I might have isolated it but I won't know for sure until I completely remove it and reboot my computer. I'm scanning it right now, and I hope this will solve the problem.

Apparently I didn't have one of the patches installed on my computer and I think that's what made it vulnerable to the virus.

I'll keep you updated as I try to fix it.

My Nintendo Wii Work Out

It's time for my Nintendo Wii Jillian Michaels workout. It's been about a week and a half since I started the Jillian Michaels workout. I'm trying to workout at least 3 times a week, but so far I've done it 4 times last week and 4 times this week.

According to the game, I burn about 200 calories each session. I don't know if that's a lot, but I really feel the burn while working out. At the end of each session, I'm totally sweating, and it's only 30 minutes. I never worked out that hard with my other work out routines.

So far, I'm still stuck at 147 lbs. At least I'm not gaining weight... Right?

Going Out Tonight

Tonight I'm going out with my best friend. We haven't gone out in a while, we've both been really busy with work, and other stuff.

She's been trying to have a baby, but hasn't had any luck yet. I know she wants to tell me in person when she does get pregnant, so I'm hoping she'll have good news to tell me tonight. I don't want to nag her about it, so I really don't ask her about it. Her family does enough nagging, with her sisters and mother asking her every month if she's pregnant or not.

I really hope she gets pregnant soon. I know she really wants children and she's getting older so it's definitely harder for her. And I know she will make a really great mom.

Michael Jackson Memorial

The Michael Jackson memorial today at the Staples center was so sad. I lost it when his daughter Paris said how much she missed him. It was so sad. He's really going to be missed by a lot of people.
