Most common or you can say frequenctly asked questions in .Net interviews for Beginner to intermediate. There are several ways in .Net using C# through which you can reverse a given string.

Lets see one bye one.

Suppose we have input string as : hello then output should be olleh

Method 1: Using inbuild array functions.

So in this method we can split the given string into the character arra using string ToCharArray method and then again we can use Array reverse method to reverse the array and then finally convert it into string. Here is program given which you can execute and see the output.

Method 2: Using Loop.

Using for loop we can add the charatcers of string into another array in reverse order and then we can convert that array to string

Method 3: Using LINQ.

Using System.Linq you can reverse a string in single line. See below code sample

Question : Write a program to print the first 3 and last 3 character in string ?

Common questions, You can use any programming or scripting language to print first n number or last number of characters from string.

You should be clear about the logic to extract characters from the string. If we go with C# which provides many inbuilt string functions through which you can extract as many as characters from any position.

Method 1: Simplest method is substring. Use inbuilt substring method to extract characters from string. See below code and output

Method 2: If you are not allowed to use inbuilt methods, then use loops which is available in almost all languages. I am going to use While loop but of course you can use any available loop to get work done.

Software used to type HTML code

HTML is simplest computer programming which you can easily learn and code. Actually its not programming language but a markup language in which you have to use predefined tags by web standards.

In order to start with HTML you do not need to have any special software. You can use any text editor such as notepad, notepad++, visual studio code etc.

Simplest and easily available software is NotePad which is available by default in all computers which have Windows operating system and in other operating systems like LINUX / MacOS you can find NotePad with other names.

Manage Your SMS on Computer Now

You all will be aware of WhatsApp for Web or Desktop, You can manage your whatsapp from Desktop by installing whatsapp application for desktop or through the whatsapp web.

Now in similar way, google also started managing your SMS through web on your computer. SO you can connect your phone to messages for web by accessing url "https://messages.android.com/" .

With this you can do following operations on the SMS
1. Reply to SMS
2. Delete SMS
3. Compose new SMS
4. Archive SMS

So fully functional SMS application is now available on your Desktop or Laptop.

In order to achieve this follow the below steps

Open SMS App (Messages) in your Android Phone. (see figure 1)
Click on the more options (three vertical dots on the top right) and choose Messages for web. (see figure 2)
After clicking on the Messages for web , it will open the camera to scan the QR code to connect messages for web. (see figure 3)
Now Navigate to https://messages.android.com/ which generate a QR code. (see figure 4)
Now scan that QR code from your mobile and your are done. (see figure 5)

If you are not getting "Messages for web" option in your phone, then you might need to upgrade your Android to newer version.

So you need not to connect it though mobile internet,If both Laptop/Desktop and Mobile are in the same network through Wi-Fi then also it will work. But the laptop or desktop should be connected to the internet.

Tool for Taking Backup of Multiple Databases

Although lots of free & Paid tools are available in the market for Database backup though them you can take you database backups in different ways. You can schedule backups and many things....

SQL Server provides many inbuilt capabilities which can be used to perform lot of tasks. But opening SQL Server tools and performing such tasks take lot of time and also computer RAM.

I have used the inbuilt features of the SQL Server and .NET Framework 4.6.2 to create a small tool (32KB in Size) through which you can take back up of your databases in a single click.

This tool lists all your databases for the Database Server and you can select the database(s) to take backup.

You can also select the file naming through the dropdown which shows the date and time of your backup.

Also if you are selecting multiple databases then this tool will create a zip file of the backups of the database which you can easily transport from one place to another.

Pre-Requesties:

The machine running this program should have .net framework 4.6.2 installed.

How to :

Download the exe (link is given at the bottom of this post).
Click on the exe to execute the program (No installation is required.)
Fill in the server name and credentials (See below picture)
After filling above details, click on the get databases button which will lists all the databases available in the selected Database Server.
Now select the databases for the Backups.
Click on the "Backup Selected Database" button to backup the databases.
After the successful backup, it will popup the message with the path of the backup file.

Also which you will open this application again, all the database servers you have used will be populated in the Database Server Name dropdown, so you dont have to input them again, Just click and save.

Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2017 is used to create this application and tested on windows 10 Pro with SQL Server Express (2008) Version.

If you are XAMARIN developer then you might have encountered this error "The "LinkAssemblies" task failed unexpectedly" in XAMARIN.FORMS projects. something like below

Very irritating error as sometimes you will not get any info in the stack trace which shows the actual error that can be fixed.

If we look at the stack trace :

By looking above error you cant predict what actually happening and what I need to change in order to remove this error.

And this error will not come when you will run your project in debug mode. You will encounter this error when you will go for deployment or run in release mode.

And you will be more irritated when in forums you will see by changing something , other are able to resolve the issue but you are not. You also did the same thing but issue still exists. :p

So, here are the some causes due to which you might face the above issue.

1. You are using file/image having name containing character '-' or '_' . So rename the file to remove any special character and rebuild your solution after cleaning it. Check if error is gone or not. If error is still there, then try the next step.

2. Check the linker option. If it is something other than "Sdk Assemblies Only" then change it to "Sdk Assemblies Only" and then clean and rebuild and see if error gone or still there.

To find the below screen, Right click on the Android project, Select Properties then select Android Options and select Linker tab.

If you still get error by changing the linker option to "Sdk Assemblies Only" then select "none" and rebuild the project and it will generate the apk and app will run in release mode but the size of the app will increase approximately 10 times. So do not try this option until unless no other option works.

3.If you are still getting the error after trying the above options then you need to check the "Minimum Android to Target". Right click on the Android project and select properties, Under Application option check if the Minimum Android to target is selected API level 19 i.e. Android 4.4 Kitkat, if it is not then set it to API level 19 and set "Target Android Version" to "Use Compile Using SDK version".

Save the application. Clean and rebuild to check if the error removed or still exists. If error is there then try the below option

4. The last option you should try to upgrade the Xamarin.Forms to latest stable release version which is 2.3.3.175 (when this post was written). Do not update the other related libraries, updating the xamarin.forms will automatically upgrade other dependent libraries.

I am 100% sure that if you follow above 4 steps then you will not get this error and if you are still getting this error , then write to XAMARIN, they only can help in that case,

Evolving Mobile App Development Tools and Technologies

With the evolution of Web Technology in India, almost every business is moving from manual to automation and they are making presence on internet.

In last 5 years, almost every business made them self on internet through personalized websites. Now almost every startups starts their business with website and mobile app.

With the increasing number of mobile users, almost every business is now moving from website to mobile app. If we go 5 year back then the cost and technology of creating a simple mobile app for Android/iOS/Symbian etc. was very high and difficult. We had only Java for Android apps and objective C for iOS.

With the increasing demand of Apps in many companies comes with out of box solution for creating Apps and they almost removed the technology barrier for creating all platform apps. Now if you are .Net developer, you can write code to create all three major platforms (Android / iOS/ Windows ) Apps.

Today, I am going to make you aware of such technologies/ frameworks using which you can create Apps for all 3 major platforms using the language/technology you already know, you need not to learn new technology.

Although there are many platforms available for creating mobile apps but here I will be discussing only five major technologies/platforms.

1. APACHE CORDOVA

This is the most simple and a HTML developer who knows only HTML/ JavaScript and CSS can develop apps for all platforms.

Its Free and Opensource technology. Target multiple platforms with one code base means you can generate apps for all platform with single code. With single code, using command line commands, you can generate apk file for android, xap file for Windows and ipa file for iOS. Interesting thing is you don't need to create separate app for Tablets also. The same app works on all screen size apps.

2. IONIC FRAMEWORK :

Ionic is the beautiful, free and open source mobile SDK for developing native and progressive web apps with ease.

IONIC framework uses the apache cordova framework to generate apps. IONIC created an UI wrapper over the apache cordova framework which provides built in CSS and controls which can be used to design the apps. Using the IONIC controls / tags you even dont need to design the controls. Almost every icon and layout is created in the framework.

The only drawback of the above two framework is you can not create native apps. The app created with apache cordova uses the web view to render the app which is little bit slower than the native app.

3. XAMARIN FRAMEWORK :

If you are .Net / C# programmer then you will love to create mobile apps using XAMARIN framework.

Initially XAMARIN was separate entity and was paid. There were no free licence available but when Microsoft acquired, they made 2 developer licence free.

You can install the XAMARIN add-on in the Visual Studio and can program for the apps or you can use the XAMARIN Studio for your programming. XAMARIN studio is also available for iOS platform, So you can program apps using Macbook also.

You can Deliver native Android, iOS, and Windows apps, using existing skills, teams, and code.

4. NATIVE SCRIPT :

Native Script uses same technology as Apache Cordova for App development such as HTML/ CSS, TypeScript/JavaScript and Angular but the major difference is it doesn't uses the web view to render the app, it generates the Native App.

Beautiful, accessible, platform-native UI - no webviews. Define once and let NativeScript adapt to run everywhere, or tailor the UI to specific devices and screens.

Currently you can create only Android and iOS apps using NativeScript. As per the NativeScript website, soon you will also be able to create Windows Apps.

It is also opensource (Apache 2 License) and you can create and distribute

NativeScript is backed by Telerik.

5. CODENAME :

Although I haven't worked in this framework but read little bit about this framework. Java developers can now create apps for all platforms using this frameowrk.

Using CodeName you can create native mobile app with Java for iPhone, Android & everything else.....

You can write code in Java(tm) using Eclipse, NetBeans or IntelliJ/IDEA.

Removing Browser Virus from your computer

These days lot of malware available on the internet. Whenever you download some un-trusted applications and you install them then they got install with them and you don't care at that time but it become headache for you when you open your browser and you see lot of unwanted ads and your default search engine got automatically changed to the something else and you delete this and when you reopen your browser then you again see the same url in your browser set as default.

See below image which got installed on my system (Chrome screen print)

When I go to settings and see the default search engine it will show as :

This is one sample, you may got some different name here and some different name may appear on your browser.

Now you will start searching on internet how to remove this and that... and you will find nothing. All sites will show you only to remove it from control panel and then from browsers.

These applications are now no more installed on your system and they will never appear in the control panel or in your browser extension.

This application got installed in your 'Application Data' folder. If you are using windows version 8 or higher then you will find Application Data folder in C drive (C:\ProgramData). This folder is by default hidden and you need to set to show all hidden files.

Go to the Application Data folder and there lot of folders you will get. Do not delete all these folders. Just go one by one and see if the name is looking odd for you then google for that folder name. You may find some result which say 'virus'. Just delete this folder and you are done.

In my case when I opened the ApplicationData folder then I found one folder 'Airtostrong' folder. see below pic

When I googled with this name then I got the below result :

Make sure to close your all browsers before deleting this folder and stop the process which is running currently. If you will open your task manager then you will find a process is running in it . See below pic :

Close these processes and close your browser and then delete the folder.

After deleting these you will still get the application installed automatically. This application got automatically registered in the Registry. So open your registry by going to Run and typing regedit.exe and search for the "Airtostrong" and you will get the below screen. Delete both of the highlighted key.

So it is sure that its virus injected in my computer. Just delete those folders and you are done.

After removing this you have to manually remove the default search engine and home page from all browsers.

After doing the above steps if your chrome is still opening the "http://search.sidecubes.com/" page when you start your chrome then you have to remove one more registry key. If you see the url which is first opened in the chrome and then it redirects to http://search.sidecubes.com/ then you will find the below url :
"http://feed.snapdo.com/?publisher=APSFRec&co=IN&userid=b86e9f25-7680-2d96-08ff-365d6368d332&searchtype=sc&installDate=31/01/2016&barcodeid=50045888&channelid=888&av=windows"

now open the registry editor and search for any keyword in this url such as APSFRec and you will get he registry entry with name "stpro.exe" as shown in the below image Just delete this entry.

There is a service installed which you have to remove. See below pic to remove the service:

Removing Google Ads

You might have seen in your browser specially in your google account such as gmail or youtube, whatever you have searched or opened , ads related to those products are displaying. And google keep displaying these ads until you search for something new.

If you are fed up with these ads and want to remove them permanently , then google provides a way using that you can switch off these ads from your account and you will not get any ads displaying in your browser.

This is applicable only for google ads. If the site you are browsing is displaying ads from some other ad provider, then it will not work.

Follow the below steps to remove the google ad.

1. Suppose an ad is displaying in your browser, if its google ad then at the top right corner of the ad block you will see a cross and circular icon. See below image

2. Click on the cross button and you will see below screen. Select the second option. then new screen will come and then select irrelevant then you will get new screen where you can click on the ad settings which will redirect you on the google ad setting page from where you can switch off all of the ads.

This will work only when you are logged in into your google account.

You can directly login to your account and go to the ad settings and switch off the ads,

Whats New in Visual Studio 2015

A big day for the .Net Developers. Recently Microsoft released the full version of next version of Visual Studio named “Visual Studio 2015”, along with “.NET 4.6 ”. It came up with lots of new features and tools for the developers including the open source community.

I have downloaded and tried VS 2015 and thought to share some new cool features which I personally liked most.

Lets see the newly introduced features :

1. Code Snippets Manager : Although it was in previous versions also but this feature is really cool.In the previous versions you might have seen lot of keywords using which you can write lot of codes in single key press such as for writing structure of "switch" condition simply write 'switch' and press "tab" key twice and your whole switch condition is created. Now you can customize this feature in new version of the VS. You can define your own keywords and put your commonly used code and play with it. you can access this manager from Tools Menu. See below figure :

2. Code Analysis : Improvements in the code analysis tool is really appreciable. In earlier versions lot of rules were added and most of them were of no use in most o the projects. Now in the new version, Microsoft compacted the rule sets and added lot of rules which we think should be in the previous versions.Old rules were separated and can be added if you want to add. Also new categories added . Now we have 5 categories which are Error, Warning, Info, Hidden and None. You are going to love this tool. See below pic

3. Debugging : VS 2015 now made debugging more easy.One nice feature in this version is the Diagnostic Tool which shows up when you debug the project. It will show you how your app performs. Also there is a setting for debugging at the line you are debugging where you can set the preferences for your debugging. See below pics

Inbox by Gmail

Google recently launched a new and enhanced version of Gmail with new name "Inbox". As all we know time to time Google presents new and amazing features to his products. In this series now we have Inbox. I personally using this since last two days.Inbox by google is lauched as Android app and it can be accessed via web also.

I have noticed some new or enhanced features in Inbox by Gmail such as :

1. Compose new mail button is moved to bottom right and is similar to the mobile app.

2. A new action button added through which you can pin your favorite items to home page and switch to other emails.

3. Chat button is moved to top right with new flavor.

4. Remaining menu items are arranged similar to Android app of the Gmail

5. Two new categories added where you can mark your mails as snooze and after it has been completed you can mark the mail item as done. Anything you mark as Done is safely stored in Done category. Emails you've previously archived are also here. Anything you Snooze will go under Snooze until it's time for it to return to the inbox.

How to get Inbox by Gmail

Inbox starts with an invitation. The fastest way to get Inbox is from a friend, or you can send an email at inbox@google.com.

Inbox is currently available for Android phones and tablets (4.1 and up), iPhone and iPad (iOS 7 and up), the Chrome, Firefox, and Safari web browsers on a computer, and Android Wear watches.

Get Inbox by Invite

If your Gmail is automatically upgraded to inbox then you can invite you friends to it. You can invite maximum three friends.

After you get Inbox, you can send invites to your friends. You'll get more invites periodically, so if you don't have invites now, you'll get some soon.

1. Open Inbox.

2. In the bottom right, go to the Create button

3. Choose Invite to Inbox .

Yearly Performance Appraisals - IT industry inside story

Its that time of the year where you will see a lot of actions happening around you; A lot of excitement and nail biting competitions. Hang on, we are not discussing IPL here, rather its about the live matches that will be played in all the corporate industries. Its the YPA (Yearly Performance Appraisal) season.

If we go by the definition "A performance appraisal is a systematic and periodic process that assesses an individual employee's job performance and productivity in relation to certain pre-established criteria and organizational objectives."

Theoretically it may sound like a fair game, but the ground results are totally different.With Manager as the Umpire and HR as third umpire, even DRS doesn't seem to be of much use.The rule is clear: "It doesn't matter, what right you have done for the company, but what wrong have you done with your Manager, is what really matters"

Considering the anxiety, expectations and level of discussion the “Performance Appraisal” must be treated like a board exam.
The entire process can be broken into 3 steps :Pre-Performance , Actual-Performance and Post-Performance.

Pre-Performance :

This is the phase where the employee is required to fill 200 page document, stating all the achievements for the fiscal year and giving self-rating;

Thinking about achievements; most of the employees are found searching the black-hole of their brain, trying to think hard as to; when was the last time they were appreciated.

After the search results of the brain returning ‘No values found’, frustration is quiet visible.

Being a jugaadu employee, Suddenly, finds a smart way to search for it –

Outlook Email.

[Being happy, quickly updates the status on FB and twitter as ‘Feeling Smart’]

Turns to mailbox and searches for the word “Thanks”, Bang!

Unfortunately the results are not that good, Outlook returns all his signature as the search results

“Thanks & Regards”.

Holy Crap.. What next ?

Tries another keyword "Appreciate" , Bang!
This time results are more humiliating:
"Appreciate, if you can get back to us ASAP"
"Your response is highly appreciated"

With such disappointing results, thought he would take a break from work and check his FB again; the status posted earlier had lot of comments like “Lol”,”HAHAHAHA”, “Smart.. Loll”,"#phaakaaaf" "#justIgnore, tumse na ho paayega".

With other alternatives around, he fills all the details of the form ,gives self-rating of 5. [5 being the most highest] and submits it.

Actual-Performance:

Basically this is the result phase, where the results are discussed,you have one-one meeting with your Manager(s) to discuss the overall rating and performance.

The manager of-course has their own perception about the employee.
I have been through such managers, who are very meticulous and they will open their Pandora box only during this meeting.

Believe me this is the time, you feel that you are being snooped around for the entire year

On Jan 15, you came 10 mins late to office.
On Tuesday, you wore Jeans and shirt.
You went for late lunch.
The other day, you took 5 times sutta break.

And suddenly you feel, "Are we discussing performance appraisal or school discipline ?" ,

You look at your ID card to double confirm "If you are working in IT industry or in some Military School ?"

In the name of performance Appraisal, your daily schedule is being discussed

And when you think they are done, comes another bouncer, ~Your Weakness ,Strengths and Future road-map.

Based on my experience the road map is pretty standard:-

1 year in industry :- You are not even considered, your road-map takes you back to your desk.

2 years in industry :- According to road map, you are eligible for tons of trainings.

3 years in industry :- We are looking to promote you to Sr. Soft. Engineer

4 years in industry :- Onsite seems to be round the corner, road-map predicts you to be onsite.

5 years in industry :- Since you were onsite, there isn't any road-map.
6 years in industry :- By this time even the road-map is asking you to leave , in 5 years governments change, why are you even here.

Post-Performance:

This is the most exciting phase, all the employees put their results in “Re-evaluation” phase,
It is as good as you are applying for re-evaluation of your paper to University where you know what would be the end-result. In most cases the results don't change.
This is what exactly happens with the performance results

In this phase the managers meet the employee to understand the dis-pleasure of the employee and provide justification.

They repeat their "routine" answers, “Normalization”, "We have to maintain the bell-curve", "You have to stretch more..", "You need to learn more, improvise"

This is the thing that catches and amuses me the “Bell - Curve” and the“Normalization”.

Bell-Curve reminds me of my first appraisal, i was with my managers in the meeting room, even before i entered the meeting room, my Managers had this diagram ready on the board - ready to go..

As soon as i was seated, they began "Bell-curve is this", "Bell-Curve is that" and it went on; While this was going on, i visualized Organization as the Bull which is imposing the results on me, i knew i was hit hard by the bull's bell curve

Still trying to recover from the bell's tong, which was hit on my head, came another explanation"Normalization" “We gave you higher side of 3, but it was reduced to 2 in Normalization”, this was sufficient enough for me surrender, i knew there is no point arguing.

Six plus years into IT and i still don't figure out the rating system, you can keep on explaining and i can keep on arguing, but the fact is the formulae, the logic is way beyond my understanding

I think both “Duckworth–Lewis” method in cricket and “Normalization” method in Performance Appraisal system were invented with same intent ~ Both are difficult to understand.

There is one similarity between ‘South African’ Cricket Team and All The Employees , former is haunted by “Duckworth–Lewis” method, whereas later by “Normalization”.

In this fast growing informative age, keeping your employees at bay may seem to be difficult task. Every sincere person working will always give more than 100% for the company, so the appraisal done must be done in the same manner - fair, sincerely and unbiased.

Manage Office Communicator Presence on Windows Lock

Although Microsoft had already released the latest version of the Office communicator with new name as Lync but in many offices still Office Communicator is used.

In most of the offices Manager keep eyes on his employees by observing the status of the Office Communicator (after this OC will be used instead of Office Communicator). Whenever you lock your workstation the status of the OC automatically changed to away.

Although OC provides facility to increase the time of showing status as inactive which can be done through the below options but in the most of offices this option is disabled.

To increase the inactive time in communicator , click on the left top down arrows in the OC and then under status section section change the time. See the below image :

Above option is not enabled in many offices so you cant do it.

The last option is to create some program to make your desktop as active and thus OC. Microsoft provides Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 SDK through which you can develop or automate your OC. If you are using Lync then you can use Microsoft Lync 2013 SDK to automate your Lync.

In my free time I just created a small application through which you can control your OC status. This application does not provide much functionality but yes, if you are .net developer then you can extend its functionality and can use in your offices.

Here I am going to provide some info regarding this application which I named as OCManager.

Current Features

1. The status of OC which got changed to away after workstation lock can be changed automatically

2. You can choose the status which you want to be shown after windows lock. It will be automatically changed to the status which you have chosen to be after 1 minute of the locking of the system.

3. It uses OC SDK dlls to communicate to OC so its very light and memory uses very very low.

4. It does not install on your system , so you can keep it in your system and can run by simply clicking on it.

Limitations

The main limitation is it does not run on 64 bit operating system. It only runs on 32 bit Operating system (Windows) due to the OC SDK dlls provided by Microsoft.

Future Scope

It can be extended to provide more features such as not to limit it on window desktop lock only but also make it time based. Also you can add auto reply to someones message when you are not on your desk.

How to

1. Simply download this application from the below Download Link and extract the files in your computer anywhere.

2. Do not delete any file from the extracted folder. Simply click on the DK.OCManager file and you will get the below window

3. Simply choose the option you want to be shown after you lock your workstation and click on the Start Process button and then it will be hidden in your task bar and when ever your system will be locked then it will automatically detect your windows lock event and will change the OC status. You will see the below after clicking on Start Process or Close button

4. If you want to choose different option or close the application then you can go to the tray icon in the task bar and right click on the icon and you can choose Show or Exit the application. Choosing show will open the window and you can select the status which you want and then again click on the Start Process button. On selecting Exit, application will be closed and there will not be any automatic status update for your OC. See the below image

This application is created using Visual Studio Express Edition on Windows 8.

Google Code Shutting Down

Today I got mail from Google that migrate your projects from Google Code as we are going to shut down this service in coming months. I had contributed lot of opensource projects in the Google code repository. So I amazed why Google is going to shutdown Google code which is widely used across the world. It was very easy to use with SVN for check out and check-in codes.

Although we have many other open source project repository hosting services but we (at least I) are used to Google Code.

In recent years Google discontinued its almost 35 services that's what Wikipedia is saying (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Discontinued_Google_services) and 24 acquisitions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Discontinued_Google_acquisitions) . So Google dont you study the market before starting any service or just some one created and or you started a service by own and when it fails you shutdown it?

Now I don't expected Google to close Google Search , Google Analytic and Blogger because we don't have any other good option in market. Although WordPress is giving big competition to Blogger but WordPress is limited and paid and is more used as CMS.

So what Google is saying on shutting down Google Code :

"Earlier today (03/13/2015), Google announced we will be turning down Google Code Project Hosting. The service started in 2006 with the goal of providing a scalable and reliable way of hosting open source projects. Since that time, millions of people have contributed to open source projects hosted on the site.

But a lot has changed since 2006. In the past nine years, many other options for hosting open source projects have popped up, along with vibrant communities of developers. It’s time to recognize that Google Code’s mission to provide open source projects a home has been accomplished by others, such as GitHub and Bitbucket.

We will be shutting down Google Code over the coming months. Starting today, the site will no longer accept new projects, but will remain functionally unchanged until August 2015. After that, project data will be read-only. Early next year, the site will shut down, but project data will be available for download in an archive format."

So Google is saying there are other options available in the market for hosting open source projects such as GitHub and Bitbucket. So in market other services available which competes Google's services so can we expect Google to close those services also in coming next 4 to 5 years? Why you don't compete against them instead of shutting down the services?

Anyway if Google decided to close the service then we can't do anything. Google provides some tools to migrate your projects from Google Code repository.

You can use Google Code Exporter to export your existing Google code projects directly to GitHub and for more other options you can visit https://code.google.com/p/support-tools/. Or you can checkout the exiting code on your computer and upload it wherever you want to, Google don't care .

Nirbhaya Society - Don't Teach Not to Get Raped, Instead Teach Not to Rape

For the past couple of days, Internet has been bombarded with the most contentious documentary"India's daughter".

Social media was gushed with all the types of comments, links, tweets and blogs;

Some of them have had a competition; as to who can share the full video link, "if u don't find on YouTube, then on scoop whoop, else on Telegraph or on BBC" and it went on and on.

Our politicians, in a flash went all out against the documentary, as if someone unveiled their black-money secrets.

Frustration and Anger was clearly visible.

I started watching the documentary,only 10 mins into the video, I gave up, my heart was filled up and a strong sense of emotional feeling went through my brain, my eyes took care of the rest.

A thought went out to the parents of the victim, no-matter how much we empathize, the horrendous act cannot be undone.

Their kid, their hard-work and their shattered dreams, were now just part of protests, documentaries and blogs.

The documentary shows us the second side of the coin i.e. the convicted; rather i would term them- as "the bigots".

I don't want to waste even a single line in this blog to talk about that psycho-maniac "Mukesh", because i consider him as a uneducated, unethical son of a bitch.

The thing that came as a shocker, was the defence lawyers statements.

I totally agree that, it is the professional integrity of the lawyers, no matter who you are, what crime you have done, they have to protect their clients, but I feel these lawyers lacked the basic "Moral Integrity".

Few statements that blew my head off

"Sharma said that the documentary was of 'no legal value' and added that Indian culture was the best culture and had no place for women."

"...if my daughter was having premarital sex and moving around at night with her boyfriend, I would have burnt her alive. I would not have let this situation happen. All parents should adopt such an attitude."

"The girl is partly responsible for the rape because she chose to be out with a man, who was her boyfriend, not her husband.”

"If you are fully covered, nobody will disrespect you or hurt you"

This clearly depicts the thinking of the society that we live in. On one hand we have reached Mars, and on the other hand clothes of women are in question.
On one hand, WHO declared India, free from Clutches of Polio, on the other hand women are still fighting from the shackles of society.

I would rather term them as #padheyLikheGawars

No matter who you are, No matter where you are, there shouldn't be any excuse for Rape and most importantly there should not be any place in this society for rapists, terrorists and #padheyLikheGawars

Populating C# Object in JavaScript

With the evolution of AJAX and async http request and of course jQuery instead of full post back to server , async call to server is most preferred. It is also providing user a better web experience.
So in this post I am going to explain how you can fill your C# object via your client side code. In web market lot of scripting framework available through which you can create a better framework for your project where you don't have to deal with any server side code such as Angular JS which provides an client side MVC framework. But in case in your project which is not an MVC but simple asp.net application, then this blog post is going t be more beneficial to you.
Lets take the case you have an application which is calling a web service method which is written in your page server code or lets take this way that instead of clicking button and post your data to server using full post back you want to achieve this functionality using Java Script async or AJAX call without using AJAX Control Toolkit for ASP.NET AJAX. So in this case lets create a simple class which we will be using for data Transfer. Lets Name is Employee.

Now suppose you have an aspx page which is taking value from the user via from fields and filling into the above class object. If you observe above class then I have taken almost all types such as object ,int , string , list so that everything get clear at this stage without any confusion.
You all know we can not call the simple methods of the aspx page from client via ajax call. So for this we need to add some attributes on the method which is [WebMethod] used in web services which will allow client side code to directly interact with the service side methods directly.
Note : In order to access web methods from client side, method must be static else it will not be visible to client code and will throw run time exception..
Lets create an aspx page with name Employee.aspx and add below method in your page server side code

Lets analyze the above code we have written. I have called a function GetEmpData(); method in which I will fill the Employee object. Now the main things we need to keep in mind that the url which we must use should be the name of the aspx page and then the web method which we defined in the server side code and in data we are converting the javascript object to JSON object using JSON.stringify and passing the object. Also keep in mind that the parameter name should be same as in the method we defined. here we used parameter name as 'emp'.
Now lets create the method to fill the object.

In the above code we have filled the C# object and each data is filled as string whatever the type is in c#. If you will run the above code it will send the filled object to server where you can process your data.

Convert XML and JSON to C# Class

With the release of new version of the visual studio, developers are now getting more and more flexibility.I Microsoft made developer to only think logic and not to worry about the syntax and other manual works during any software development. That's why every 1-2 year we are getting new version of the Visual Studio and other IDE by Microsoft.

So today I am going to show you how simply you can achieve this using your visual studio. Just follow the below steps

Copy your xml/json data (note that it should be in a proper JSON or XML format otherwise dont blame me :) )
Open your visual studio (I have tested it in visual studio 2015 preview) and create a blank class file.
Go to Edit
Select Past Edit, Here you will get the both options

Paste JSON as Classes
Paste XML as Classes

Choose any option as per the copied data in your clipboard.
Now your are done :)

So lets see this screen by screen... (not required for you developers but I am adding it here ..)
I have created a simple JSON data file with 3 properties .

"Address": "Noida",
"Site": "http://www.dkumar.co.in"
}

Above JSON data contains a class having three properties. Now lets create an empty class file in visual studio. see the below pic

Now Lets see how the above JSON will be converted to class file. Now I will go to File Menu and then Paste Special

When you will select the above shown option, you JSON data will be converted to the c# class, see the below image

So a default class has been created with name RootObject which have a property of type User and the User class is also created with all the properties.
You can try this with XML data also.

Note: I haven't seen Paste XML as Classes in Visual Studio 2012 & 2013 Professional Editions. There might be some configuration issue and you may be able to see it in yours. I have shown above examples in Visual Studio 2015 preview edition.

Alternative of Frameset and iFrames in HTML

Frames are very useful in HTML development for loading external contents. using frame set one can load multiple pages into a single web page. A typical use of frame set was to show constant header and footer and load different content in the center of the page. So we create two different html pages for the header and footer and place them in a frame set.

A typical syntax of frame set is

But most of the experts do not advise to use frame set due to below disadvantages :

The major disadvantage of using frame set is that it restricts search engines to index all the pages. Pages embedded through frame set can not be searched through search engines. Most of the search engines will not index pages containing frames as it is hard for them to search for a specific content and move backwards to check to which frame set each page belongs to and retrieve all the pages in the frame set.
User experience will not be to good. Navigational issues will happen. Its hard to navigate through pages in frames when we have more than two or three frames.
Compared to normal web page user can not properly print the web pages containing multiple frames.
Browser compatibility is the most common issue. Not all browsers support frame set, so developer have to code differently for those browsers.

Now we can assume that Frames are of no use in today's era as we have lot of options now available. One of them is iframe which now used most widely in the web world. i-frame is just one "box" and you can place it anywhere on your site where as frames are a bunch of 'boxes' put together to make one site with many pages. iframe is able to "float" within content in a page, that is you can create an html page and position an iframe within it. This allows you to have a page and place another doucment directly in it. A frameset allows you to split the screen into different pages (horizontally and vertically) and display different documents in each part.

As day by day financial transactions and other secure things are going online , security for everyone is must. So if we talk about the security for frames and iframes then both are not up to mark. There are lot of security risks using these two elements in your web page. Lets see how these are dangerous for our application :

iframes have access to certain properties of the parent document, e.g. redirect the parent frame to a new location using parent.location.href or parent.window.location .This is great for phishing attacks when embedding content from other servers (even if you trust that server it might be compromised).
There is no cross domain policy exists means you can include content that does not originate from your domain which leads a great security risk.
CSS and iframes can scan your LAN from the internet!

Now with the introduction of the jquery in the web world , we have lot of flexibility. We can not things now more easily and in more convenient way.

Jquery replaces many old java script and html tags which were hard to write and were a security risk. similar to frame set and iframes you can load html pages into other html page. but the way of loading is totally different. Here pages are getting loaded into the html containers such as div etc. You can find the div element using jquery selector $ where you want to load the page and then use function .load by passing the page url to load the page.

The above code snippets will load a page with name pageName.html in to a div which have id "divid" . You can load any page or image anything using this method. Lets see the difference in this method with frame set and iframe.

This load method does not allow cross domain page loading means you can not load any page which is hosted on google.com to you local page or the page which is hosted on some other domain. ex. the page http://myonlinecoupons.in/flipkart/fdiscount.html can not be loaded into the page which is hosted on http;//dkumar.co.in/mypage.html
Using this method , all the code of the other page is loaded thus you can use a single script / css file for the both pages.
There is no concept of parent or child here, you can easily call javascript methods of each pages into another.

Today's almost all ads provider sites uses iframe to provide their ads. Affiliate marketing is growing and all the affiliates are provided the code within an iframe which may be cause a security risk in coming future.

Winform Preventing Controls Validated/Validating Event when setting focus on it programtically

You might have faced below kind of issues in your winform projects :

You have added some validation on the Leave event of the text box control and at some point of action, you are getting those validation messages again and again which is making it in a dead lock and you have to restart the application by terminating it through task manager.
The same issue as described above is also happening on some other events such as validated, validating etc of the control

There are lot of properties available to these controls which will make you to prevent such actions. The order of occurrence of the controls events in winform depends how the focus is being set to the controls. Suppose you are setting up the focus to a control by using TAB or SHIFT+TAB or other key in your keyboard or by calling the Select or SelectNextControl methods or by setting the ContainerControl.ActiveControl property to the current form, focus events occur in the following order:

Enter
GotFocus
Leave
Validating
Validated
LostFocus

and if your are changing the focus by using the mouse or by calling the Focus method of the control then focus events occur in the following order:

Enter
GotFocus
LostFocus
Leave
Validating
Validated

So while setting these property you need to keep in mind the order of the events.

So the most important thing which I wanted to discuss is to prevent validated/validating event fire on setting focus to the control.

Suppose you have placed a text box control on your form and you have written some logic to show some error message on its validated event based on some condition. When you will set focus of this control in some other action then this validated event will occur again and you will get the message again. So whenever you are setting the focus to this control having validated/validating event then first set the controls CausesValidation property to false and then set the Focus and then set CausesValidation property to true.

If the CausesValidation property is set to false, the Validating and Validated events are suppressed and it will prevent the control to fire these events again.

Important points to be remembered :

If the CausesValidation property is set to false, the Validating and Validated events are suppressed.
If the Cancel property of the CancelEventArgs is set to true in the Validating event delegate, all events that would usually occur after the Validating event are suppressed.
Do not attempt to set focus from within the Enter, GotFocus, Leave, LostFocus, Validating, or Validated event handlers. Doing so can cause your application or the operating system to stop responding.

Windows 10 - New Version of Windows with Exciting Features

Features
Lets see whats new features Microsoft is providing in this version of the windows. As per the new announcement blog of the Microsoft Windows 10 will provide the below features to its consumers.

Start menu: The familiar Start menu is back, but it brings with it a new customizable space for your favorite apps and Live Tiles.

Everything runs in a window: Apps from the Windows Store now open in the same format that desktop apps do and can be re-sized and moved around, and have title bars at the top allowing for maximize, minimize, and close with a click.

Snap enhancements: You can now have four apps snapped on the same screen with a new quadrant layout. Windows will also show other apps and programs running for additional snapping and even make smart suggestions on filling available screen space with other open apps.

New task view button: There’s a new task-view button on the task bar for quick switching between open files and quick access to any desktops you create.

Multiple desktops: Create desktops for different purposes and projects and switch between these desktops easily and pick up where you left off on each desktop.

Find files faster: File Explorer now displays your recent files and frequently visited folders making for finding files you’ve worked on is easier.

Currently Technical Preview is only available for installation. You can download and evaluate this version from below Microsoft web address

A report says that users are now migrating from facebook to Ello. Currently this social network is in beta and only invitee can register on this site. This site was created last year as a "private" social network but now they have open it to public via an invitation basis registration.
