Over at Bloesem: Black and White Inspiration, we spotted this amazing room photographed by Frederik Vercruysse. With so many simple design choices executed beautifully, we were reminded of other rooms on Apartment Therapy that used the same elements to achieve similar effects:

In the first photo, my eyes immediately focused on the 4 tiny red objects. I think it could use a tad more… seems “balmy”… but love the sofa :-)

Laughing Tiger — check out the link for more views of the living room and the rest of the apartment… there is an AMAZING painting over the fireplace (although I could do without the larger-than-life photo of a nude Carla Bruni in the bedroom, it *does* add a lot of, umm, colour)

I can lay in bed and compose a message from my G1 before going to sleep. It’s 6:27am here, and not an ounce of sleep to be had.

Where else can you post via email and not worry about formatting and xmlrpc!? I don’t even have to tweet about this, Posterous takes care of that for me.

I just purchased one of Canon’s extension tubes (the EF-12 II) to allow me shoot a bit closer with my 50mm lens rather than buying a dedicated macro lens to use with my 5D Mark II (which can’t use Canon’s EF-S crop-sensor lenses, thus rendering my 60mm macro lens unusable). If you are unfamiliar with extension tubes, it’s basically just as advertised; a tube that extends the lens further away from the camera’s sensor, resulting in the ability to focus much closer than you otherwise can with the lens. Prime lenses in particular usually don’t let you focus very closely.

It doesn’t do full macro like a proper macro lens would, but it’s good enough if you really just want to get a little closer. It also doesn’t allow you to focus to infinity with it attached, but I can live with that since I don’t shoot a lot of macro and the extension tube is a fifth the price of a macro lens.

The photo above was taken with my 50mm prime lens, shot wide open at f/1.4 which gave off a ridiculously soft, dreamy quality that my 60mm macro never did. I’d love to make a video shot just like that, I just need an idea first.
