Let’s go back a few months. Just before my last NY trip, we put together new portfolios to take along. Our step one: gathering or printing proof pictures, naming categories and organizing pictures into those categories. Step two: editing out 350 finished images to arrive at the 35 (ish) that will be printed for the book. Step three: paginating those selected images into a cohesive story. Some of our initial selects didn’t flow, so then we went back through steps two and three to find images that did.

One day, we had friends over during the editing process, so we set out cameras for them to get involved and document our work. In these pictures we’re past step one, somewhere in between steps two and three. Thanks to our guest photographers: the amazing hair and makeup artist Omar Rodriguez, and the equally impressive fashion designer Buf Reynolds.

Oh, and of course we did it in the then-un-airconditioned studio on the hottest day of summer. Great timing.
