Applications available

The target date for opening the on-line application process is Feb 14, 2012. The paper applications will be mailed to make them available on/or about the same date.

Deadline for clothing orders

The cut-off date for ordering DALMAC clothing items will be July 1, 2012. This will allow our volunteers time to compile the clothing orders, have them prepared and delivered, and be available to be distributed at ride registration.

Deadline for applications

August 1, 2012 will be the last day to apply for DALMAC 2012. During August, DALMAC volunteers make the final preparations for the ride.

Ride registration

Ride registration is at the MSU Livestock Pavilion, on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, Michigan. Riders beginning late may register with the respective ride leaders at the respective overnight locations.
Early registration for the 5 day routes ( 5 Day, and 5 UP ), will be the evening of Tuesday, August 28, 2012, and for the 4 day routes ( 4 Day West, 4 Day East, and Quad Century ), on the evening of Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Those wishing to do so may register on Wednesday or Thursday morning before 9:00am prior to beginning the ride.

Ride finish

Four of the routes finish in Mackinaw City on the afternoon of Sunday, September 2, 2012. The 5 UP route crosses the Mackinac Bridge on Sunday morning, and finishes in Sault Ste Marie( or DeTour Village?) on Sunday afternoon.

Returning to East Lansing

There are basically three options:

Arrange for friends or family to pick you up in Mackinaw City (or Sault Ste Marie)

Return on the buses provided leaving at 6:00pm on Sunday and arriving in East Lansing between 11:00pm and midnight. OR

"Return" on your bicycle.

DALMAC is on Labor Day weekend

Labor Day is Monday, September 3, 2012. It is considered the last weekend of Michigan's tourist season (schools don't open until after Labor Day). And one of the most popular things for Michiganders to do on Labor Day, is to walk across the Mackinac Bridge on Monday morning. It's the only day of the year that pedestrians are allowed to cross the bridge. The event, and being the last weekend of the tourist season, brings lots of people "up north" along with the DALMAC riders. Ride safely.

The weather featured similarities to many past events. The rain as we departed Central Lake on Saturday morning was very reminiscent of 2010. Fortunately, it wasn't nearly as severe but still a challenge.

Congratulations to all who participated!

Share your own experiences on TCBA's DALMAC Forum. The TCBA/DALMAC websites welcomes ride reports that may be posted on our site(s). If you'd like to post your pictures, please provide a link to a public picture gallery site (our favorite is Picasa, but there are many others). Send anything you'd like to post or suggest to 'webmaster - at - biketcba - dot - org'.

2100 miles, and then DALMAC!

Lois & Doug Crawford have biked from Baytown TX to ride this year's DALMAC! http://www.argus-press.com/news/community/owosso/article_bcc14958-c8da-11e0-83b8-001cc4c03286.html
Well, this blog will be how we do that. A summary of the most recent postings will be embedded on the DALMAC site's home page.

There's a way to be notified when new items are posted that will relieve you of having to continually checking the web site. The blog has a feature where you can "Follow" it, and Blogger will let you know when something has been newly posted. You will probably be required to have a Google Account to become a "Follower".

Bottom line: There is no "INFORMATION ON ANY RECENT CHANGES, SPECIAL ITEMS, AND SCHEDULES..."

Ride Registration for 2011

Registration for 2011 is at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education.
To claim his/her registration packet, each rider must present their acceptance letter and a photo ID to receive his/her own packet.
Late registration at the overnight camp locations will need to be obtained from the route coordinator.
The registration packet will contain a wrist band that will be worn throughout the tour. It also contains two baggage tags specific to the route. Bags may be loaded on baggage trucks during the evening registration hours for each route. See the information contained with each acceptance letter.
