I've Moved!

2013-01-06T13:57:00.003-05:00

I've decided to move to Tumblr. Yeeepppppssssss:

My new Blog!

The Mechanical Giant

2012-09-01T21:05:00.003-04:00

Did a creature thingy. Looks okay. It's been awhile since I've taken the time to render something. Ish okay. Funny how you don't like something after 10 minutes have passed since you've fnished it. Time it took to make this was about 3 hours? 2 and a half maybe? It took awhile to get this idea going in my head. Not very good at that. I usually reserve stuff like this for my sketchbook doodles.

EDIT: Sorry but it seems everytime an image is expanded on this site it somehow becomes lighter in colour. Here is an alternative: http://my57.deviantart.com/art/The-Mechanical-Giant-324763271

EDIT EDIT: Funny enough I'm now not very happy with this at all. I think I could have done a better render. I hope this only took 2 and half hours to render. Hate to think I took longer on this >.>

Imaginary Landscape speed paintings

2012-09-01T14:45:00.000-04:00

So here are some landscapes I've done over the past few days. Each taking 15-20 minutes I guess. Ish okay I guess. Critique welcomed. Actually I think the last 4 where done within 10-15. I believe. They look more rushed or maybe I got better after those >.>

Oddly enough, the thumbnails that are shown show a better colour than when they are expanded for some odd reason. They go pale when you make them bigger...

Music to listen to!

2012-07-12T11:49:00.001-04:00

Music that is awesome to listen to while drawing. In my opinion. Check out more of this guys music and support him!

Broken Tablet.

2012-07-09T18:42:00.000-04:00

My new tablet just broke! Yay! Have to go and return it now. Only had it for a month. So kinda disappointing. Something to do with the connection, no idea whyyyyy I have been treating it like Gold and my last tablet is 6 years old and is still kicking it.

-- Had it for 2 months and the store won't return it for me or replace so need to use wacom 2 year warranty. Lame.

Life Drawing! (Kinda...)

2012-07-06T15:01:00.000-04:00

Kinda life drawing. Used a site that gives you pictures of naked people and you can draw them one after another. They're on timers and it's quite fun. Only thing I have close to actually doing life drawing at the moment sadly... Link below for the drawing site.

Quack?

A...duck....

Just something quick.

Robot Designs!

2012-07-03T17:41:00.001-04:00

Fuck ya robots!- Just some quick concepts.

So yah, nothing really fancy or amazing but they're fun. If you want to see more I uploaded more on my concept art page. I just chose the ones I liked the most. Or disliked the least. Whichever.

Environment Quickies!

2012-07-03T17:34:00.000-04:00

Always fun.

All of these took about less than an hour and a half. The thumbnails at the bottom are the most recent environments I have done, each taking about 10 minutes or less. Mainly looking at composition. All of these are Speed Paintings.

If you want to see EVERYTHING I have done in terms of environments you can look at my concept art page. I just chose these as they are my favourites and basically the ones I put the most attention to recently.

I'm alive! Kinda.

2012-07-03T17:21:00.000-04:00

Sooooo much stuff I have to post now ;___;

I'll start with my bug from school:

Yay slightly interesting perspective! Always a plus.

School is almost over

2012-03-22T14:10:00.000-04:00

I'm almost done me second year at college (two more years to goooo) and I just feel bad for not updating my blog a lot. So that being said I plan on updating like a boss once school is over. Also plan on working on portfolio pieces. So hopefully every gets to see my process work for that. Also want to do more book reviews for shits and giggles.

The Forest Of Clouds

2012-01-08T00:16:00.002-05:00

I'll be doing a book review soon. Probably sometime tomorrow evening.

At any rate here is a art thingy I did quickly. Just playing around with brushes I made in Painter. I see some nice potential in them so far. Gonna make some mechanical looking brushes next me thinks...

Happy New Years!

2012-01-01T03:06:00.002-05:00

Yes I'm still alive. Feels good. - *sigh*

One Last figure for the Week!

2011-12-28T15:03:00.004-05:00

I'm not going to update now for the rest of the week. Will update sometime next week probably.

Just another 1 hour study from a coloured photo >.>

Two 1 hour figure studies + Painter 12 hint

2011-12-27T21:54:00.002-05:00

This was interesting because I found out that lowering the Opacity for Artists Oils really makes a difference. I never really tried it before because it didn't really work with Oil Pastels. That being said the one on the left was done with opacity at 100% up until near the end when I discovered it and the one to the right was done with opacity set to 40% when I needed to render. Both were done in an hour. - I personally see a difference. I managed to get more done on the figure to the right as well. Which is nice :333

You see it toooo right????? ;____;

Never really have done photo manipulation like this before. It was fun! Done in Painter 12.

Abstract thing and Figure

2011-12-26T12:00:00.001-05:00

Whooo Update! - Abstract thingy and a figure. Can you tell which is which?

fus ro dah!!!

This took 1 hour. Got really hung up on the ribs for the most part and ended up giving up on them >.>

My Mech Fish

2011-12-24T23:21:00.002-05:00

It's a fish! But only metal. And robotic. And powerd by something that would burn your flesh off.

- It's always happy time in my world!

This took about an hour or so. Just a speed paint and experimenting with some stuff with Painter 12. Freaking fun stuff I have discovered :3

Meh Mech Fish.

Some Artwork! + news

2011-12-24T23:17:00.002-05:00

Left: 15 min or so, Right: 30 Min - both suck.

The last two go as followed: 5min, 10min. - Strangely enough...

Some life drawing I did! ^^^ - I did more but didn't bother to save them all. Did these today.

A marble pear I did from life. Did 2 days ago or so from this post.

A shell that I also did from life! This was for school!

Skull comparisons that I did in school.

- More will be updated

I want to do another book review but the book is taking forever to get shipped to me. Kinda worried to be honest. So on the bright side I'm back kinda. Hurray! *sigh* Let's see how many people actually give a shit! *Dance*

Soon. Very soon.

2011-12-15T00:08:00.002-05:00

Soon I will update with worth while stuff. The holiday break is almost here for me and thus I will have the energy to do reviews and maybe some tutorials. Hell I might even post some fancy artwork. - That being said school drained me a lot (staying up until 2am working and going to school at 5:30am or 6:30am depending).

That being said I'm done bitching :3

Lack of updates yet again!

2011-11-05T21:00:00.002-04:00

School is a busy thing, go figure. So no updates for a while. It's not like it really matters to be honest :P - It's not like anyone really reads this silly blog anyways xD

The Vilppu Drawing Manual - A Book Review

2011-10-24T19:13:00.000-04:00

Well I'm doing something quite strange with this review... The book happens to be free! Go figure right? Wow I'm so awesome *my perfect sarcasm* . So please enjoy this review and feel free to download it (quite literally).

So what is this book great at? Flow. It really understands how a figure moves and how to not make it look static. In essence it is a book for animators (It was created for them). However as an Illustrator in training I enjoyed this book a lot. Again this book is stylized like most other drawing books but this book can really help with drawing models from life and actually make them look like they are living beings rather than a structure made out of stone.

But to be honest there is no point in really reviewing this book, after all it's free from google books and I have it embedded to this post, look through it and download it if you like it. It's a great little book that I cherish deeply and would like to have as a hard copy in my hand.

Now this is where I insert my capitalism intentions. You may buy the book here however it's expensive and I doubt anyone is going to buy them from amazon based on the price they give the book for. Stick with the cheap and free way I suppose. Click here to see the book in Google Books.
