Dreadlocks, good looks and smooth talking is all that is best suited to describe the contemporary dancehall/reggae artiste that goes by the name TRIGGAR MAN.

Born Bob-Dave Omoaghe to a family of ten children, Triggar Man needed no extra-curricular guidance to nudge him ahead in his musical career than the one provided by his family. With every single member of his family blessed with the talent of music, Triggar Man found his footing firm in the musical world upon deciding to go professional in 2001 after his secondary education.

With a work-in-progress debut album, he has such sensational dancehall/raggae singles like "Rock Fi LIfe", "Follow Me" and "System" which though yet to hit the airwaves are sure reggae-ton flavours that would make all reggae pundits marvel with the smoothness of his patua lingo.

The Edo State raggae star has had the privileged of working with A-List producers in the industry (I.D Cabasa, J Sleek, UC Prof, Kris a.k.a Daddy X, Mo-Kris and Joe-Pee) and also done features with artistes that even if they are not hot now, they likely would be afterward (Oge, I'll Gynx and Guru). He hopes to spar withh such big names like 2face, M.I and Terry G in his forthcoming ten tracker album titled "Real Bad Man".

His smooth flowing dancehall/reggae single Rock Fi Life has a sparkling shot cameo/vidoe expression which was directed by none other than Mannequin Productions in South Africa. Inspired by such reggae icons llike Beenie Man, Movado, Sizzla, 2face Idibia and Rhymzo,
this dancehall/reggae wonder has had the honour of thrilling such mighty audiences as the ones present at MTN 2face & Friends Concert at the Millennium Park in Abuja and the 1 year in office anniversary of his state governor Adams Oshiomhole.

In the years to come he aspires to be among the great dancehall/reggae legends like Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Bennie Man, Movado, Sizzla, 2face Idibia to mention a few. And hope to be in the front line of bringing a change in the Nigerian Music Industry in areas such as

With the recent launch of a book celebrating the silent type, self-confessed quiet girl Andrea Anastasiou discovers how introverts can be successful in a world that applauds extroverts

Throughout my life, I've been given different variations of the same observation. In school, my concerned teachers would tell my mum: ‘she's very bright, but she's too quiet and needs to put her hand up more,' and throughout my working life, my managers have consistently said to me: ‘your work is great, but I feel you need to speak up in meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions more often.' The truth is, I hate brainstorming, I do not like speaking up in meetings unless I have something particularly constructive to say, and I feel that I do all my best work alone. According to my teachers and managers, this is a problem. To me, however, it is simple: I'm an introvert and this is how I like to work and live my life. In fact, it's the only way I know how.

The strong, silent type

Psychologically speaking, introverts are characterised by their preference for lower stimulation environments. So while extroverts are energised in situations where they are interacting with others, such as loud parties and large gatherings, introverts prefer to have a cup of coffee with a close friend or read a book. Nevertheless, despite common misconceptions, this does not mean that all introverts are shy or that they dislike people. Many introverts are known to be very outgoing, but they will also always seek time to be alone and recharge.

"Introverts are typically private, thoughtful, reflective individuals," says Dr Saliha Afridi, clinical psychologist and director of LightHouse Arabia in Dubai. "These characteristics can sometimes make them seem not as savvy in a world that applauds extroverts - people who are quick to make connections, and can think on their feet. But these qualities are actually very valuable because introverts are typically good listeners and great advisors."

An extroverted world

The problem is, however, modern society tends to value the highly extroverted ideals of gregariousness, taking risks, and being comfortable in the limelight, over the quietness, shyness and thoughtfulness of most archetypal introverts. The stereotypical person who gets ahead in the workplace is confident, charming and energetic, while more quiet types are seen as aloof and disinterested. A new book by Susan Cain, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, explores how modern society undervalues introverts. Through her book, Cain argues that introverts are disadvantaged by the bias that is shown towards them in today's society, meaning that their many talents are being wasted.

As Rick Ross gears up for his next album, God Forgives, I Don't, the Miami emcee offered up some details about some of the records on his new project, as well as the next installment in the Self Made series.

During a conference call, the Bawse spoke on recording with Just Blaze, who produced the rapper's latest song, "I Love My Bitches." “I just want to tap back into that ’90s vintage Hip Hop sound… put a spin to it, and bring that back,” said Ross of the producer, notable for his collaborations with Jay-Z, and dozens of other artists.

Ross revealed that he recorded numerous songs with Just for his upcoming release, God Forgives, I Don't. "We cut a couple records," he said. "That particular record, I did those three verses in one take. Real Hip Hop enthusiasts listening to that verse closely all the way through, they can just hear how natural that shit sounded. ...It was just so vintage."

Rick Ross added that he is planning on a sequel to Self Made, Vol. 1, the Maybach Music Group compilation, which he proclaimed is coming "sooner than you think."

DAILY SEX BOOSTS CHANCES OF GETTING PREGNANT

The chances of pregnancy for a couple in a given month will depend upon many things, and some that they can easily control. One of such is frequency of sex. Experts say that having sex daily is the best way to ensure fast conception, reports Sade Oguntola.

Are you worried that you may be infertile? For some women, getting pregnant happens easily. For others, it can take time and may even require medical help. One of the reasons why many women do not get pregnant easily is lack of regular sex between couples. It is hard for some couples to include regular sex in their daily activities. But this is often overlooked in relationships.

Many couples bitterly complain they are not getting pregnant, forgetting that infertility is only thought of medically in a couple that had lacked ability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse. This includes having sex at the right time.

Research has shown that the more sex a man has, the better his level of fertility becomes and thus his chances of becoming a father. Regular sex ensures that sperms of higher quality are produced.

The finding, presented at the 2007 American Society for Reproductive Medicines Annual Conference, and which is of particular significance to couples facing challenges of conceiving, suggested that daily sex could increase the quantity of sperm produced and improve the chances of pregnancy.

The research, which suggested that sperm sitting in the body accumulates damage as it ages, indicated that if sperm is released in a steady stream, due to steady sex, the sperm that is ejaculated contains newer and less-damaged cells.

Australian researchers, looking at the sperm quality in more than 40 men whose wives had either failed to get pregnant through Invitro fertilisation(IVF) or had repeatedly miscarried, found that when the men had no sex for three days, their sperm contained high levels of DNA damage. Ironically, on testing the men after having sex every day for a week, the amount of damage dropped by a third.

Dr Abisola Abisoye-Ogunniyan, an embryologist, in an edition of Fertility Update, a publication by The Bridge Clinic, stated the significance of semen quality in couples facing challenges of conception.

According to Dr Abisoye-Ogunniyan, the amount of semen a man can produce as well as the number and quality of spermatozoa in his semen sample is determined through semen analysis.

Sperm swim in and are nourished in the semen. Once inside the fallopian tube(s), they have a life span of about five days. This means the sperm can be in the fallopian tube for five days in advance of ovulation and still fertilise the eggs. But low semen volume affects the life span of the sperm cells. It is associated, for instance, with the number of days of abstinence from sex.

However, sperms genetic makeup (DNA) can become more damaged the longer it remains in the body, cutting the chances of fertilisation and raising the risk of a miscarriage in the first weeks of pregnancy.

According to the expert, one day of abstinence can cause at least 20 per cent reduction in the sperm count. So the longer the period of abstinence from sex, the poorer the sperm count.

“A study in 2004 found that men with repeated normal results from semen analysis produced abnormal samples if they abstained for more than 10 days. For a longer period of abstinence, more dead sperm cells will be found in the ejaculate.”

Conversely, Professor Ayo Arowojolu, a consultant obstetrican and gyneacologist, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State in a lecture entitled “In search of the causes of unexplainable fertility in Nigerian men”, stated that “if a couple do not have sex at least three to four times a week to ensure they maintain the desired closeness, they cannot be sure to have a child.”

Couples often try to time everything perfectly for ovulation, but do not have sex when they think they are not ovulating. No doubt, sex that is not within the time of ovulation will not result in pregnancy. However, because women do not always ovulate when they think they will, having frequent sex will help a woman not to miss any opportunity to get pregnant.

Professor Arowojolu declared, “the woman ovulates one day in a month and you do not know the day. You might calculate the fertile period and by the time she gets to that fertile period, the man might be too tired or out of town due to work.”

It is a common notion by some men that if they abstain for longer times before say, ovulation, their sperm will be better. Although there may be more volume, there will also be more sperms with damaged DNA.

He added: “But with sex at least three to four times a week, the chances of getting pregnant is higher if they meet that once a week or say at weekends.”

There are, however, other reasons couples are finding conception difficult. For example, a long-term use of contraceptive pill can lead to fertility problems for some women. It will take some time after stopping the use of contraceptive pills for the woman’s body to be normal again, especially when the woman is of an advanced age.

In addition, a pursuance of narcissistic lifestyle for so many years; that is, smoking, drinking, having unprotected sex, dieting, and exercising excessively, can be a cause of infertility in Certain Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, which can affect fertility. According to Professor Arowojolu, infections such as Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia are the major causes of infertility in men in Nigeria. This is because men still practise unprotected sex.

He reiterated: “Unfortunately, Chlamydia, unlike Gonorrhoea, does not show itself until it has done a lot of damage in the body, including blocking the fallopian tubes in the woman.”

There is a general consensus among fertility experts that an optimum weight be maintained when trying to get pregnant. Being over or underweight can affect the regularity of the menstrual periods and inhibit ovulation in women. Too much weight around the stomach can also affect the hormone balance, impair fertility and delay pregnancy.

Smoking deprives the body of essential nutrients for fertility, including zinc, selenium, and vitamin C. It increases levels of toxic substances like cadmium and lead in the blood.

According to Professor Arowojolu, “the Lead content of the Nigerian environment is higher than what is acceptable all over the world. Evidence has shown that Lead is one of the causal factors for infertility in men. Lead affects fertility by destroying the sperm, testes and the prostate. It also affects the kidneys.“

He linked Nigeria’s high level of lead content with the use of leaded petrol, indiscriminate citing of petrol stations, battery chargers activities and foundries and poor disposal of industrial wastes.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Rihanna dished about her acting debut in “Battleship,” saying, “For me, acting was a whole different world. We make mini-movies with music videos, but there's always a song track that's playing, you don't have to speak, so [with acting] you have to tell that emotion with the tone of your voice, and I have an accent, so I had to change it to a bit of an American accent for this movie, so that was different.”

The always busy Kim Kardashian was out in London today (May 19) celebrating the launch of her weight loss management product QuickTrim at Westfield mall.

The reality television star looked lovely in a white cuff-sleeved dress with black heels keeping her makeup simple and tweeting, “Morning London town.”

She also made an appearance at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London to once again, support the UK launch of her weight management supplement, while looking stunning in a a black peek-a-boo dress with slick, straight locks.

In other news, while overseas the 31-year-old beauty appeared on the Fearne Cotton BBC Radio 1 show and dished about everything from her family to her relationship with Kanye West.

“He’s being supportive,” said Kardashian about her new boyfriend, and explained, “He took a little break to hang out with me, then I’ll take a break and hang out with him.”

The brunette beauty also took time to talk about her hit television show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” saying, “I basically get paid to hang out with my family. It couldn’t be a better job.”

This past Monday, Jay-Z took the stage outside of the Philadelphia Arts Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to announce the two-day Budweiser “Made in America” festival, taking place on September 1-2. The Roc Nation honcho says that 70 percent of the acts have been confirmed for the event, but that the lineup will be announced next week.

50 Cent caused a stir this week after tweeting pictures of himself in the hospital after eating a bad hamburger. He later bounced back from the illness without having to go through surgery, but explained how Eminem called him and said that it wouldn’t be respectable if he died from consuming tainted meat.

Last night, Lil' Kim performed at the Bronx's Paradise Theater as part of her "Return of the Queen" tour.

During the performance, the Queen Bee brought out Missy Elliott and Eve to run through the remix for "Hot Boyz." Additional songs performed during the set included "Black Friday," "Crush On You" and "No Time," also inviting Juelz Santana to take the stage to run through his verse from Lloyd Banks' "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley." Completing one of the most recognized tasks around the world, David Beckham carried the Olympic torch to the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall, England yesterday afternoon (May 18).

The British soccer star took part in the torches’ presentation as it begins its relay today (May 19), which will take it on an 8,000-mile journey across England with a detour to visit the Irish capital of Dublin. It will culminate in the flame being brought to the Olympic Stadium for the opening of the Games on July 27.

"This is a big acceleration of the heartbeat," London Mayor Boris Johnson said as he summed up the moment. "This is the final furlong for us."

Although the 37-year-old heartthrob has never competed in the Olympic games, he is definitely interested adding, “Obviously, I'd love to. I've always made it clear that I love representing my country. I've done that quite a few times."

The duo of Van Vicker and Angela Okorie will be hosting the second annual Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA) which holds on September 15 and 16, 2012 in North Carolina, US.

The 34-year-old Ghanaian born actor, who started his active acting career in 2003 with Ghanaian TV series ‘Sun City‘; will be hosting the event with Nigerian counterpart Angela Okorie-a Nollywood actress.

According to the organisers of the event, NAFCA ‘is an award ceremony in North America for the African Movie industry worldwide and it serves as an award of merit for distinctive achievement’. Also the essence of the award is to boost movies and film makers from across Africa.

The two-day event which holds every second week in September will begin with a Nollywood summit, movie premiere and an after party on Saturday, September 15 at the Carolina Museum of Art, US. The awards proper will hold on Sunday, September, 16, 2012 at the Carolina Theatre Durham, North Carolina, US.

Organisers say some percentage of the tickets sales and sponsorship grants will be donated to North Carolina International Mission – a charity organisation fighting hunger and building schools in Africa.
