The story seems to be with the AFTER HARRY section of news this week, the main fansites focusing on their own PREVIEWS OF THE HP STUDIO TOUR, which will open Spring of next year in the primary set of the series at Leavesden Studios. Tickets, we will remind you GO ON PRESALE OCT 13TH from here ...my moneybank savings are purely for that!!
The other key story is the first excerpts of the book focusing on the series' progression from 'PAGE TO SCREEN'.

From now on, I will attempt (emphasising that I am very busy and cannot always use a pc) to update this blog with a summary everytime we get news. However some days it will be mainly twitter, which you can follow here .

Pottermore updated with the news that their 1 million beta user limit had been reached.
Snitchseeker updated with news of events attended by Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton and the Phelps twins with pictures.
Leaky reported that Alan Rickman is to be on a play on Broadway.

I was thinking of changing around the backgrounds and the header for here to celebrate 5 years of Danaholics Anonymous...or maybe is it time for a proper full-blown website? let me know your thoughts on the twitter ?

I jst this minute boarded the bus back into Dublin,so will give you all the full lowdown on James and Oliver Phelps receiving honorary membership to UCD Law Soc in Dublin this evening when i get off the moving bus!
UPDATE...much later!Let's just say, It was Arthur's Day and I'm Irish!

I enter the room around 7 (I love being a journalist, got in after only being there 15 minutes and got free law soc membership..nice!), all is set up, water bell and all. The ambiance is of excitement, their image from Deathly Hallows Part 2 promo is on screen. After asking the girl beside me, I find out people have q-ed since 5, long for Ireland,as we are laid-back; NO DRAMA, no pushing which is a first for me at Potter events.
Its half 7, people are still filling in excitedly, the place is so full, people have started sitting on the steps and even on the floor! I spot a gryffindor tie, a few girls with 'Weasley is our King' tshirts, but for the main part these are everyday UCD students.
Shortly after half 7,the president of Law Soc arrives shows a few nostalgic pics, introduces his note-taker,who gives a wonderful Potter-themed speech and he then introduces the boys.

Oliver speaks first, on James' request,thanks us all for being there and lovingly refers to his time on Potter. James does the same and then the floor is opened for questions. Here are some of the best;
THE NORMAL:

Q:If you could play any other character in the series who would it be?
JAMES: George. (laughter all round).
Oliver: A voldemort-type character. ..(more laughter).. or a deatheater of something..

Q:What is your honest opinion of Twilight?
J: Havent seen it...
Oliver: We worked with Rob..glad it's done so well..

Q: Ever laughed on set?
USUAL ANSWER...RUPERT!!!
J: It was Order of the Phoenix...the bit where The Room od Requirement is discovered..and the camera pans over the cast...Rupert goes: (covers mouth and makes su ppressed laughter sound) and then i went (suppressed laughter).

Q:Are you on Pottermore?
O: I tried to register...(laughter)..will try again.

Q: What house do you think you'd be put in if you got in?
James: there's this sorting hat..Burbank Studios..It put me in Gryffindor..
Oliver: (downcast) Hufflepuff...

Q:Do you miss Harry Potter filming?
James: after ten years...it's nice to do something new...we do miss it,it's like you..when in university..you make lasting friends..we still hang out with the guys..Yes and No.

Q:Do you plan on continuing acting?
James:well, we are both in talks at the minute for separate projects. (communal awwww!) we were afraid we'd kill each other... and we have different interests..

Q:OUR READER LAURA ASKED; Oliver, whats the progress with Latin Quarter?
O: Haven't started yet. It keeps getting pushed back and pushed back...hope we start on that soon.

Q:How'd you feel when you knew you were the twin that was gonna die?
J: Let me set the scene...I was in Japan..I'm not being melodramatic,I was! On the fast train..and the ticket guy was coming up to me..and I read the paragraph..was like my best mate had died..and he was talking to me in Japanese..tried to explain I had died!

Q:Take anything from set?
: Nothing..legally..I don't know how it got there, but I do have a bag from Weasley'S Wizard Weezes... (Laughter)

Q:If you could take any object from the wizarding world? what would it be?
O: Portkey...waiting in airports queues is horrible..
J: Hermione's Handbag...(LAUGHTER) not the handbag..just that you can shove as much stuff as you want in..

AND THE DOWNRIGHT...EH...WTF
Q:Are you going to the student bar after?
James:...eh, (turns to security guy) are we? ..maybe...

Q:What opening line should we use if we see you in the pub later?
Oliver: Can I buy you a drink...I dunno, James would know better.. (moves back to let James take the fore)

Q: Can you call Rupert?
James: He's in America at the moment..I can't.

Q:If you had Polyjuice Potion, who would you change into for the day?
James: Like I havent heard that one before...Guess Slash...cause he's a wicked guitarist.
O: Luke Donald. (quiet) He's a golfer.

Q:What's your handicap?
O: Right now its Golf.. (voluptuous laughter and clapping).

Q: How long do you know each other?
J: How long did it take you to come up with that one. (laughter and massive clapping)
O: Quite a while.

Q: How has it changed your lives?
J: we get to travel alot..they let us,Tom and some friends into the Louvre after hours..it was like us (makes thumbs up pose) with the Mona Lisa!

Q: Who is the mechanical head outside Weasley's Wizard Weezes based on?
O: James...

James and Oliver happilly signed autographs after they received their honorary Law Society membership.

DANAHOLICS EXCLUSIVE CONT: FULL DETAILS OF PHELPS TWINS APPEARANCE IN DUBLIN! SUBMIT QUESTIONS

As I previously mentioned, Danaholics have the scoop on a possibly 2 hour long appearance by James and Oliver Phelps, better known as Fred and George Weasley, in Dublin this coming Thursday.
I have since got confirmation from the PRO of UCD Law Society, the host of the event, and have today conducted an interview, via email, with the very same, gaining all the necessary details!!

DANAHOLICS ANONYMOUS: Why did LawSoc decide to hold this event/how was the idea conceived?
Stephen Devine, PRO of UCD LAWSOC: Each year the Law Society of UCD invites guests whom we feel have made a special contribution in their chosen field to address our members and then receive an Honorary Life Membership of the Society. These areas include but are not limited to Politics, Sport, Film, Music and the Arts in general. The current committee felt that James and Oliver we deserving of an award this year.

DA: How does it relate to the Law society?
Stephen: The Law Society of UCD has a proud history of bringing the biggest names from every walk of life to address the Society. Guests in the past have included Jeremy Irons, Bill Bailey, Jesse Jackson, Noam Chomsky and John C. McGinley.

Could you possibly give me a short description of the event?

The event will start with the private business of the society such as corresponds and records after which James and Oliver will be introduced. They will then spend some time talking about their experiences as part of the Harry Potter franchise and their plans for the future. After which it is customary that they would accept some questions from the audience. At the end of the event they will be presented with Honorary Life Memberships by the current Auditor of the Society, Mr Francis McNamara.

DA: How will questions be submitted and who chooses which will be answered?
Stephen: The guests themselves normally pick out people in the crowd who have raised their hands to ask a question. It is anticipated this will be what will happen with this event.

DA: Will it be open to people outside UCD?
Stephen: Access to the event will be limited to UCD Law Society members. Membership is open to all students of UCD and costs 2 euro. There will be an opportunity to join the society on the night.

DA: And finally, how can one get tickets and if there is a cover charge how much is it?
Stephen: This is not a ticketed event and is open to all members of the society on a first come first serve basis. There is no cover charge.

I am currently in talks to cover the event on Thursday and will be taking questions submitted on twitter and facebook. The best will be selected and I will do my darnest to get it asked!

AROUND THIS TIME 5 YEARS AGO...
I was an impressionable slightly ashamed harry potter and Daniel Radcliffe fan living in my own world, but surviving cause I had Potter.
I set up the first form of Danaholics Anonymous on the social site of the day in these parts, bebo.

In those days, I went to the effort of writing a new post on the page for each news story, quoting snitchseeker etc for the few that were fans of the page, few who read it.
Somewhere in 2007 we got all official and went to a few events, including the opening night of Equus and The Order of The Phoenix Premiere in London. These pictures were posted on the site and excitedly blogged on.
The blogspot and youtube were later set up to expand the mini empire and mix up the media being presented.
In the last year or so, I realised how rehashed our posts there were and decided to set up a twitter and retweet all the necessary stuff for you all to save you boredom and me time.
We also have a facebook. All these pages can be viewed,liked etc by following the links on the right side of this blog.
Finally, I would like to ask of you all, as a present to us, to recommend us to your twitter friends so we can up our numbers!!! please?

as a new student in Dublin,I have obtained this EXCLUSIVE news for Danaholics Anonymous;
James and Oliver Phelps who portray Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter series are to grace Dublin yet again with their presence,this time at UCD or University College Dublin in Belfield.
They are allegedly to attend the Law Society on 22nd September according to the poster,which you can view left.

I will of course be contacting the boys,a rep and the uni for further confirmation.

Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch launched this years MS Readathon in Dublin recently, a campaign which both encourages literacy and raises vital funds for the irish Multiple Sclerosis society. MS is a treatable disease nowadays only due to such a charity,whereas just 20 years ago it claimed lives including that of JK Rowling's mum Anne.
Irish showbiz queens of the show xposé,which aires on tv3 here in Ireland, were on the scene to interview to gorgeous co Louth native who recently admitted battling anorexia.

it is important not to panic. Very few people know the answer offhand,and nobody knows exactly when it will open. The best you can do is:
Between the hours estimated by the official Potter blog (2and 6pm bst,ie between 5 mins from now and 4 hours thereafter);
Refresh the POTTERMORE.COM page every few minutes. It seems boring,but only good luck will make you check it at the exact time.
Keep your Goblet of Fire handy...and lets not forget a calculator as the clue is always a number to multiply to another.
Finally when you work out the number, add it to the url http://quill.pottermore.com/ eg. On day one i was lucky enough to catch it on http://quill.pottermore.com/258 .
You will be brought to a very specific page of a harry potter realted website, day 1 was sony Pottermore’s partner, day 2 was warner bros photos..day 3 i wasn’t on for.
LOOK FOR THE MAGIC QUILL, WHICH WILL BE LIGHTING UP. CLICK ON THAT, FOLLOW THE LINK IN THE CONGRATULATIONS AND REGISTER ALL YOUR DETAILS, DATE OF BIRTH, NAME, HAVE YOU READ THE BOOKS AND COUNTRY...you can then choose a silly username.
Be patient yet again as emails aren’t always quick at getting to you. When your validation email comes,follow the link, sign in and you should get the message to the left.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, there are still 3 days left if you don’t get in,and even if you don’t, its NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, It will be open in October anyway, for all, fully developed,free of charge.

JK ROWLING: Who Do You Think You Are

as i'm sure you all have heard, the upcoming series of BBC's popular family tree orientated series, Who Do You Think You Are,is to include an episode on our hero, JK Rowling,due to be aired August 17th.
Previously, Jo herself traced the Weasley family tree forward. Now it is the turn of her own family,which reaches back into French World War history:
her ancestor Louis Volant attempted 'to get weapons to French soldiers besieged by Germans in the Battle of Verdun',but all is not as it seemed.
Rowling honoured her ancestor she has 'always been proud of' when she received her own honorary Légion d'honneur. Yet the episode of the BBC show reveals a different story according to the Irish Sunday Times;

Apparantly,when Joanne was researching,French authorities pulled the wrong files,the wrong Volant. Turns out he didn't receive the Légion d'honneur at all. Rather he got the Croix de guerre.
Not a big deal,in my opinion,he's still a war hero.

TODAY, has become a paranoid furious scroll of the Internet, but the true meaning: Harry was born on the 31st July because his creator, and word mother, was born on this day 40 plus years ago.
Happy birthday to a wonderful lady, who not only created the most complex and wonderful magical world, but beat a horrible depression to get there, while also raising a wonderful daughter and going on the have a few more with the lovely Neil.
Here I honour her, thank her in written words (thank you was screamed enough earlier this month on Trafalgar) for her many years of wonder that helped me with my own depression and for giving me her signature finally :)
Hopefully the formentioned Internet craze will be enough to help us all mourn. As ALWAYS, time will tell.

In 20 minutes time it is Daniel Radcliffe's 22nd birthday. I imagine he'll be off watching cricket if its still on (UK vs India or whatever) and watching some Discovery....now he joins me and my other Danaholic friend Kellie (who took the Dantastic picture to the left) in the arena of being 22. :)

I am well and truly knackered, but I attended the Dublin premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, meeting Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) , Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley) and James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) along the way!! The were all in great spirits,and the Phelps seemed to love Ireland,which is great!
Some pics here of me with them, the rest will be on the facebook and twitpic just as soon as the photo editor lets me rotate them the right way!!!
