“The Eastern Philosophy embraces an energy model which views the body as a whole, including the invisible energy body which is simply a network of energy fields and systems that receive and transmit information on various levels of frequency. The energy system is like a network of transformers, relaying information from outside our body to the inside of our body. Part of this energy system is the meridian system, which then transmits this information to organs and glands.” “Herbs bring balance to the meridians as easily as acupuncture or food.” “Consuming the herbal remedies supports the physical body. Exploring the emotion related to the herb supports the energy body. Listening to the healing message from the herb offers support for the spiritual connection.” Author, Evelyn Mulders: “Western Herbs for Eastern Meridians and Five Element Theory”

Dress rehearsals

1. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of schedule, dressed and ready to perform.

2. No public viewing. Dress rehearsal is just for parents assisting with the dancers. Please do not bring guests as this is our private time. For those parents who will be working away during the show, we are aware that you will be present.

3. Full costume, makeup and hair are required.

4. If we are running on time, we have rehearsed a group photo shot. We will try to do the photo shot at the end of each piece. If we are behind in time, this will cancelled.

5. Please be backstage ready for your entrance at your scheduled time. Lineups will be posted at the theatre doors and backstage doors to check entrances.

6. We will try to run as close to time as possible. The priority is the preparation of the dancers for their pieces. We will do the best we can to make this happen.

7. Each dance class must have dance parents with them backstage. If you are the designated parent, please be at dress rehearsal to rehearse your own details for the show. Notes will be provided to help you out, and they will be there for you when you arrive.

8. Please label all costume pieces for easy identification – I had 20 pillows left over from Christmas as well as runners, pants, coats and more. Put everything into an easy box to take things in and out of. Practice costume changes with your child to make sure they can do it and they have everything. Make your own costume checklist that they can go through to make sure they have prepared everything.

9. Thank you for helping to clean up everything at the end of our rehearsal and show. Last year I missed the wind up party to clean up what was left behind.

Show Day:

Arrive by 5:30 to place your pieces where they belong. All dressing rooms will be labelled. Boys will be kept together as much as possible so the girls can make their quick costume changes. Please bring water bottles to stay hydrated. No sticky treats or juices that can ruin costumes please. If dancers are in the first half of the show, they need to be backstage by 6:15 in their places, while everyone else can go to the audience to watch. If dancers are only in the second half, they need to be backstage at the start of the intermission ready to go. Dancers not in the second half may go to watch, and will be called back onto the stage for a final bow at the end of the show. The show is about 90 minutes with intermission.

Last week of Classes: May 25 – May 31. For all classes, this is a celebration of what has been accomplished. Beach attire can be worn and special activities will be shared.

Hello Everyone! By now you should have your pieces collected and ready for the week. Parents, please bring your video camera, camera, choreography notes and costume details for class this week. We invite you to stay, enjoy seeing how far the pieces have progressed, take notes or video to help with practicing at home, and ask questions. I will be looking for parent volunteers who will be able to help with dress rehearsals and show time to assist backstage. Thank you for all your attention to details. See you in class this week. Michelle
