Song Of The Day: Pretty Lights - The Day Is Gone

2013-03-12T08:26:00.000-07:00

Pretty Lights has just released this new track alongside a Recap Video for NYE 2013. From the video: "This is produced by Pretty Lights specifically for the shows in NYC on December 30 & 31, 2012. We hope you enjoy the recap!" This is the first original track released since "So Bright" was leaked, and the released by PLM. Both new tracks have a dark, soulful feeling to them, and this latest release is sure to stir buzz about Pretty Lights' upcoming album which as of now is still without a release date.

As always, Pretty Lights has a busy touring schedule, and will be headlining numerous festivals including Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, The Governor's Ball, Bonnaroo and Electric Forest. Let's hope sometime this year he drops that new album.

The North Borders will be Bonobo's sixth full length album, and the first since 2012's Black Sands Remixed, a remix album of 2010's well received Black Sands featuring remixes by FaltyDL, Machinedrum, Banks, and Four Tet among numerous others. Green will be beginning the live tour of his immensely successful Bonobo Live project on April 10th at the Black Cat in Washington DC, then moving onto Philadelphia, New York, and Boston as he makes his way across North America and across the pond to England and Europe where he plans to finish in late-June, just in time for Summer Festival Season.

In spite of its massive popularity, many people still hurl the uninformed criticism that most electronic musicians, producers and DJs are mere "button pushers" lacking any real musical talent. These people clearly haven't seen the Brooklyn-based, multi-talented producer/guitarist, D.V.S.* aka Derek VanScoten. VanScoten is a prolific performer, boasting collaborations with Govinda and Space Jesus, and a multitude of remixed tracks from Pink Floyd, Bon Iver, Wiz Kalifa, and many other artists. He has recently made mention of a full length album in the works that would include his first original releases as D.V.S.* since 2011. After a busy touring schedule in 2012, D.V.S.* can be seen at the Ableton NAMM Clinic in Anaheim, CA on January 25th, and at the Cleveland Agora in Cleveland, OH on February 22nd.

Song Of The Day: Moods - Love Is Real

Rotterdam-based producer Moods has released a number of new tracks since his self-released Break Out EP this past August, including the catchy "Love Is Real." Incorporating a relaxed hip-hop beat, R&B vocals and sharp jazz guitar samples, this track is both refreshing, and demonstrative of the style that Moods puts into each of his songs. This Dutch producer is still pretty fresh on the scene and doesn't appear to have any gigs in the works, though he is clearly focused on creating a steady stream of fresh tracks on the regular, so we will be keeping an eye on him.

Today's song of the day is a remix of Bonobo's "Silver" by German remixer/producer Krizz Luco. This eclectic DJ has made a name for himself in the tech-house and deep house scene, having released numerous original tracks and various well-received remixes of tracks by SBTRKT, Feist, Little Dragon and James Blake.

Song Of The Day: Skytree - Quartz Resonance (Space Jesus Remix)

2012-12-26T06:16:00.000-08:00

Philadelphia-based producer Space Jesus (aka Jasha Tull) has just released a 5-track Remix EP, featuring remixes of original tracks by Gotye, Major Lazer, Skytree, Pistol and Freddy Todd & Black Mic, and includes collaborations with fellow producers D.V.S.* and F.L.O.T.E.. Space Jesus' style crosses so many genres between each of his original tracks and numerous remixes, it can be hard to keep up. From Sky-Hop to Psy-Trap, Fidget-Hop to Kumbiathon, it can be difficult to pin down this dynamic artist.

2012 has been a busy year for SPace Jesus in terms of both production and performance, having released many original tracks and remixes, and performed at countless events alongside such artists as Alex Grey, Zeds Dead Ott. and BassNectar. Denver-native Jay Jaramillo is well known in the Colorado scene under the moniker ProJect Aspect, but with dope tracks like "Custie Bear"off his recently released album Automagically, he's clearly shown that he can cast a wider net. According to Jaramillo, "a lot of emotion goes into writing tracks for me. The biggest opportunity to express my rawest of feelings and lay them all out on the table. I write songs to perform them live. Nothing make my heart happier than playing live music and connecting with new people."

ProJect Aspect has performed alongside such artists as EOTO, MartyParty, VibeSquaD and NiT GriT, and at such festivals as Sonic Bloom, Wakarusa and Global Dance Festival. Jaramillo is currently touring in San Francisco with back-to-back shows today and tomorrow at the Icon Lounge with JOBOT, and at Folsom with FreQ Nasty, Wick-It the Instigator, and Sleepyhead, before returning to Colorado for a New Years Eve run.
