Pepsi and Sony have partnered with the Michael Jackson estate to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s seventh artist album, “Bad.” Along with a series of cans featuring an image of the late pop icon, Sony Music has plans for a revamped album that will feature re-mastered tracks, unreleased songs, and remixes from the likes of Afrojack, A-Trak, and Diplo. The first offering comes from the Dutch hit-maker, Afrojack, who, contrary to his usual stylings, takes a softer approach on this rework. In his attempt to maintain the integrity of this legendary record, he uses his signature bleep sound as an added boost, while keeping the original elements intact. The untouched vocals coincide flawlessly with the usual Afro-synth and drum work, and make for quite a modest remix. “Bad 25″ will be available for purchase on September 18th.

Last week, after we wrapped up day two of EDC New York, we headed to Pacha NYC for the official after party. The impressive roster featured resident kingpins Erick Morillo and Danny Tenaglia – along with Oscar G, Nicole Moudaber, and tINI. If you’ve ever seen these DJs play solo gigs behind the decks of their 46th street home, then you come to a night like this expecting to stay into the afternoon hours. On this night, however, given we were in the midst of a massive 3-day festival, Pacha decided to go easy on us. We were presented with individual, 1-hour power sets, where DT used the spotlight to clear some rumors circulating the Internet.

Last month, when we brought you news of DT’s resignation, the term ‘resign’ puzzled fans. So at the conclusion of his set on Saturday, he reassured the crowd that he was not retiring – but instead taking time off from his hectic touring schedule, while continuing his residency at Pacha NYC. For die hard DT fans (and there are many), this came as great news.

The scene at Electric Daisy Carnival, NY was a messy splatter painting of lights, neon, and babes wearing daisies but its most important feature was inevitably the music. EDM fans from all over the world flocked to Met Life stadium to hear a variety of DJ’s perform — one of them being Chuckie. He delivered an electro heavy set but also peppered it with his signature dirty Dutch sounds, pop-vocal acapellas, dubstep, and more. Chuckie’s sonic DNA is a definite festival and fan favorite, however, I heavily prefer an eclectic mix to a set dominated by a single sound or sub-genre.

Chuckie’s beats kept the crowd going but so too did his own energy. Rather than stand behind the booth quietly mixing and selecting, — as some DJs opt to do — he chose to amp up the crowd with consistent interaction and declarations of love for both his fans and New York. Hardwell is taking on British boy band, The Wanted, for his next remix endeavor, on their latest single “Chasing The Sun.” Thumping drums and intricate top line make this remix impossible to mistake for anyone other than Hardwell. He takes the big room vocal for a ride, mixing up his own progression and potent leads to create yet another hard-hitting track. This exclusive preview comes before its official debut tonight on Hardwell’s Hardwell On Air radio show.

Dada Life is known to do just about anything they want, and do it well. Look no further than their latest videos of “Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker” and “Rolling Stone T-Shirt,” where the Swedish duo prove reckless and careless in a fashion that we all envy. That attitude has allowed them to pull off a remix for Madonna and now a remix for Justin Bieber. Dada Life asked fans which artist they thought was least likely to remix, the fans voted, and Dada came through – they did service to a Justin Bieber track which would previously be scoffed at by listeners of electronic music. The remix proves big with electro and progression and the only trace of commercial influence is Justin Bieber’s vocal which has been made more than tolerable since Dada got ahold of it. Ignore the 18-year old pop star’s name attached to the title and check out Dada Life’s remix of “Boyfriend” which has been released on Beatport today.

Dirty South’s newest YouTube video brings us behind the scenes as he tours Creamfields in his home country of Australia and reveals festival footage, an inside look of his studio, and a better look at Dragan’s relationship with Alesso. Twitter followers of Dirty South and Alesso may have questions about their quirky relationship, constant bickering, and mother/sister jokes. Reassured, what appear as personal stabs on Twitter is nothing but camaraderie and a special chemistry – most recently resulting in the production of future-hit, “City of Dreams,” which both DJs played at EDC NY last week. We know you like us to bring you great new artists you have not heard about yet. Guy and Howard Lawrence are two teenage brothers (only 16 & 19 years old!) hailing from London. Together they comprise Disclosure and have been making waves with their unique garage and dubstep influenced productions. Delta Heavy, in our recent interview with them, picked Disclosure out as one of the most exciting up and coming names in bass music. “What’s In Your Head” is a soulful garage production that is the perfect track to chill out to. Check it out below and grab it on iTunes on June 4th.

Barcelona producer David Tort, who is responsible for hits like “Jack It Up,” and Norman Doray’s “Kalifornia,” has joined forces with veteran music producer, Giorgio Moroder, on this newest offering. The impressive track features a rhythmic, 303-infused groove that is instantly recognizable as a Tort production. Using heavy base lines and a punchy acid house sound, this track makes for one beautifully crafted installment.

RAC, or Remix Artist Collective have made a name for themselves by remixing countless indie rock tracks and now, for the first time, their own production is getting the remix treatment. The Magician has sprinkled some of his magic music dust all over RAC’s first single, “Hollywood,” and the result is a perfect summer tune. His remix maintains the feel of the original but with minimal layering adds major funk to the indie dance tune. These dance-y, disco productions have been popping up all over the place lately, taking listeners back in time with their old-school sounds, breaking the mold of the usual, archetypal club mixes. RAC, Penguin Prison, and The Magician are the perfect trifecta and we hope to hear more collaborations from them.

It’s true that to most of us the addition of a third day for EDC NY seemed like an afterthought — an entire stage had been eliminated from the lineup and the addition of Armin Van Buuren as the closer felt forced. We asked ourselves “Wouldn’t two closing sets cheapen the Armin experience?” The answer after two days at EDC NY is a resounding “HELL NO!” Armin Van Buuren is the world’s biggest DJ for a reason — he is one of the few left whose sets are true artistry. He masterfully mixes tracks to create an atmosphere rather than a party, taking listeners on a journey with peaks and valleys and highs and lows. While many popular artists play nearly identical sets at every big festival, Armin’s is always a surprise.
