Staying Options in Dandeli!

There are lot many staying options in Dandeli. You can chose to stay in a tree house facing the river, a normal cottage in the city, in the jungle, in tents, in guest houses and homestays. Check out options which may suit you the best!

Many of these resorts and homestays are initiated by localites which may lack professional services. These are homely yet needs to be refined. Few of them which have come up now are better.

Check out Wildflower Homestay this is in the city limits and your accessibility is better. If you are a group of 40 people you can chose this as they have ample space and good food. For couples this would be a great place too.

Wildflower homestay is on the outskirts of the city which has a capacity to accommodate
40 persons.

Kulgi is 7kms away and has Nature camp where you can stay in tents, which is well furnished and maintained by the Govt. of Karnataka. Jungle lodges managed resort and its good option to stay there since they provide you all the activities as a package.

There are resorts like Wildflower Homestay, Hornbill River Resort, Bison Resorts, Old magazine house, Dandeli Jungle Inn, Dandeli Jungle camp, Milinds Home stay and many others. You even have an option to stay in State Lodge opp to the main bus stand and avail additional activities you want with your own freedom.

For a complete nature experience you can opt for the nature camps located in Kulgi, but ensure you do not carry any liqor there. Kulgi nature camp is located in the jungle and is well guarded by the fence, they are around 15 tents and a dormitory, you can study about the wild facts. You need to book this well in advance as the no of tourists has increased and is hard to find the availability.

Jungle safari is carried out in the jungle for which one has to take the permission / pass from the forest department.You can find several people who undertake safari in the jungles.

Modes to reach Dandeli.

By Air: Hubli has a Airport closest and is 70kms from Dandeli you get bus from Hubi or you can take a bus to reach Dharwad then you will find plenty of bus to Dandeli, else pick a taxi.
Goa is also close by and you can reach by bus or a private taxi. distance is 110kms.

By Train: Londa junction is 40kms away and you can reach here if coming from Maharashtra, North India, get Down and you have jeeps or bus which takes you to Dandeli.
Alnavar or Hubli/ Dharwar are another option and best for people traveling from the south India.

By Road: From Belgaum Dandeli is 100kms, Hubli its 70kms, Dharwad is 50kms.Bangalore is 520kms and Mumbai is 560kms. Mangalore is 400kms, Karwar is 110kms far,Pune is 430kms, Goa is 120kms.Overnight buses ply from Bangalore to Dandeli via Shimoga as well as Davangere, Harihar, Dharwad.

You cannot expect good hotels in Dandeli, but you can get a few varieties of food you need to taste. Erappa khanavali, specializes the north karnataka food its a full meals here no options to choose from, Shetty Lunch home is good in North Indian and South Indian veg and non veg delicacies, Hotel Santosh is good for veg preference. You can get kachoris, samosas, and vada pav at some of the places you should not miss to have it, they are prepared by the typical north indian families.

Shopping?? You can find shops along the stretch of J N Road and Link Road.Commercial complexes parallel to link road has many of the options to chose from.Mobiles, gifts and electronic stuffs you will find at the Market complex.

Tips: Please try to avoid use of plastic bags as much as possible be environment friendly.Loud music for party purpose is strictly to be avoided, wear cotton clothes and good shoes.Carry torches along and a hat if you are in a mood to trek.A back pack with essential first aid will be beneficial in case of emergency. You should be aware of leeches in some places and its not a thing to worry about. The guide will guide where it would be and you can be careful.

Its been my efforts to give a place in the world map to Dandeli, by promoting it and also creating awareness, among the people who visit this beautiful place not to litter by plastic and instead keep this place more natural.

DANDELI INFORMATION

The number of places you can visit in Dandeli are plenty, so try and keep as much time as you can when you plan a visit. Dandeli is nearly 500km from Bangalore. It is also very close to Goa and Maharashtra and is hence visited by many people from Goa and Bombay.

To reach Dandeli from Bangalore, you can take direct KSRTC buses, but book in advance. But it is preferable to take your own vehicles since the distances are high and you can't rely on public transport. To reach Dandeli, you can drive to Dharwad which is on NH4(via Tumkur) and then take a diversion to Dandeli. You can also choose an alternate route that goes via Shimoga, it is longer but is more pleasant and scenic. You can also deviate a bit and visit Jog falls on the way if you take this road. To take this route, take NH4 to Tumkur, turn left and reach Shimoga and then Sagar which are on NH206: Bangalore - Honnavar road. From Sagar, you have to go via the towns Siddapur, Sirsi and Yellapur to reach Dandeli. Jog falls is a short deviation between Sagar and Siddapur. Expect bad roads in the later part of this journey, but it takes you through forests and good landscapes unlike the Dharwad road.

Bus Starting from Bangalore : Rajahamsa Executive Deluxe at 8:45pm and 10.45pm everyday.

From Bombay/ Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur to Dandeli, you have a option of booking with a private bus service which operates to Dandeli, else take a bus to Belgaum and then you get buses plying to Dandeli. By train the closes rail head would be Londa, you can get access from Londa trough jeeps which ply regularly.
If planning to come from Hyderabad, ideal would be to reach Hubli, then you can take a alternative.

From Goa, you need to either take a bus or a train and you need to change in Londa. As mentioned you will have to take the jeep service to Dandeli.

By Air : closest airport is Hubli and Belgaum and another at Goa.

My Visit to Syntheri Rocks.

It was calm after the rain stopped pouring.We had no idea of going out but all of a sudden we just made up minds to let ourselves out to go to Syntheri Rocks.

The drive was a splendid one as we could find only LUSH green everywhere and our lungs breathed pure Oxygen!!!

We reached our destination finally with a great cheer on everybody's face. Eagerness and enthusiasm filled to reach to the bottom.we made it to the bottom and the water was in its fully roaring spirit making milky waves splashing on us.There were plenty of tourists enjoying the same.

We could sit there for half an hour ad it started drizzling .. it was a wonderful experience which has to be experienced by one.. we were stranded outside without umbrellas and our only shelter for the time was the trees...all of the people present were under the trees.

after some time the rain had drenched us all of them completely we managed to leave.It was indeed a great opportunity for us to get the rain which in turn helped us climb back the steps in a cool manner. We reached on the top and had a realisation of our clothes being dried up to the maximum.

We could make out the efforts by the forest department to keep the place clean and plastic free is not happening as people break these rules according to their requirements.I personally feel it should be one's individual deed to make sure he does not pollute the forest and put in his/her best efforts to keep and maintain our rich nature.
