Chattanooga Aerials

Grounded High is a troupe of acrobats doing original productions in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They asked me to do a poster for their new show “Many” and I gladly accepted. I shot the aerialist, Amy, Jen and David, is several poses with various props over the course of a couple of evenings. I chose the cube and the dancers in black and placed theme against the warm brick wall. I lightened the windows in a nice gradation to further warm the piece and chose Bauhaus for the typeface to echo the lines of the cube. I rendered the poster using Nupastels on Stonehenge paper. Amy and company are very happy with the poster, it will be available as a print at their performances along with drawings of the individual acrobats. I met Fritz Koch of WayShapeForm while teaching an Advanced Illustrator class at PNCA.
He emailed me one day with a project, create 40 spot illustrations of food types for a diabetes patient guide. The images had to be simple and easily read from a distance. It’s the kind of project that I love and a great way to showcase Adobe Illustrator’s capabilities. The guide was a success and Fritz was a blast to work with. See the thumbnails for more examples.

Part of a series of illustrations commissioned by MarketOne Inc for the eCompanyStore, an online specialty advertising business. The sketches were done in pencil, scanned and placed into Adobe Illustrator and imported in to Corel Painter where the paths were converted to masks and rendered with the pastel tools. The finals convey the feel of traditional illustration.

VTA is a post house in Atlanta, Georgia. I was asked by Fitzgerald+Company to develop a set of marks from three senses, see, touch and hear.
The art was featured in Print’s Regional Design Competition.

Raw Visceralia [an illustration workshop] was series of seminars held at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. This is an ad for Module Three-Visual Duality.
Original art was scanned into Adobe Illustrator then imported into Corel Painter. I used the scratchboard for the finished art.

Hollywood Theatre Poster

Produced for the Illustrators’ Jam at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR. I love old theaters and Portland has many to chose from. The crowning jewel is the Hollywood, the whole neighborhood is named for it. I was able to tour the theater along with my illustrator buddies. We held a contest at the Jam and I walked away with the honor of doing the poster. They still have a couple for sale at the box office. Created in Adobe Illustrator.
