20th Century Fox has struck a preemptive deal for Daniel Suarez's upcoming tech thriller Influx, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The book -- which will hit stores on Feb. 20 via the publishing house Dutton -- centers on a world in which decades of technological advances have been suppressed in an effort to prevent disruptive change.

Author Daniel Suarez's high-tech thriller, Daemon and its upcoming sequel, FreedomTM, have been acquired by the Dutton imprint of Penguin Books in a major publishing deal. Originally self-published under the pseudonym 'Leinad Zeraus' (a palindrome for Daniel Suarez), Daemon achieved an underground success and was eventually featured in a Wired Magazine article in May, 2008.
