About 5 months ago, Ben wrote to me to inquiry about my wedding photography service. After many round of email discussions, Ben and Kim finally decided to engage me as their wedding photographer. My first time meeting them was memorable and exciting, especially when this is a marriage between two person from different nations. I also feel touch by their love story and how it flourish, and taking their friendship to a higher level.

Last month I had an opportunity to be my colleague’s sister wedding photographer. Joyeen lives in Taiwan has decided to hire me for her big day in Penang. Most of the discussion was with Alvin and he has helped tremendously in the wedding planning and preparation. It’s not an easy task and he did it very well.

Even though this is not a full wedding ceremony photography assignment, we still manage to find time to do a mini portrait session at G-Hotel just before the wedding dinner reception start. This place has many to offer for wonderful portrait photography.

So here are some of the highlights. GB…

Yasmine is my former colleague when I was still working in Johor. She came over to Penang with another 2 former colleagues of mine for holiday and makan-makan (Penang bah). This is where she decided to take the opportunity to take some personal portraits of her own.

We had a lot of fun and I enjoy taking her photos even it’s just an hour portrait session. I am looking forward for another great photo session with her in the future.

About 8 months ago, Kelly emailed me to inquiry about my service and she has special request for it. It will be not the ordinary actual wedding day photography, but a very special one.  Kelly and her sister are getting married on the same day and in addition, they requested me to do their pre wedding photography session at the same time.

The challenge in this photography session is,  Kelly resides in  Michigan – USA,  and will only be back end of June. And their wedding day will be on July 10 (Sat). After many email and phone correspondence between the two sisters, we decided July 1st will be the day for the pre-wedding photo shooting session – beach photography! On the second day, I was assisted by another two photographers for reinforcement Milan Teh and Jimmy Ng. With them, we were able to accomplished all the photo shooting session faster and also providing special and exclusive attention to the couples.

After completing the photos shooting session, the next challenge is to do proofing for Kelly and Libee, so that we can showcase the pre-wedding photos on their actual wedding day in a week time. This including sending the photo to do a high quality canvas print and sending a copy of DVD to the hotel to “test-run” the photo montage. However, I didn’t manage to send the DVD for “test-run” as Kedah state is OFF on Friday and Saturday. Even I ship it out by courier on Thursday, it will only arrive on Sunday morning – the wedding is on Saturday. In this situation, I am certainly confident it will work well, but it is always to have a backup plan what IF things didn’t go as plan.

By far, this is the most challenging lighting condition that I have ever work in, the lights are very dim (when the party starts) – sometimes the camera wasn’t able to lock the focusing point. I tried to keep my camera ISO setting below 3200, sometimes I have to sacrifice for higher noise than a blurry images. But this is one of my most enjoyable wedding photography assignment – I just love the uncertainty and the challenge.

I will upload some of the earlier wedding dinner reception photos in the next post. It was another fantastic wedding – lots of energy and cheers.

I am happy to say that we managed to capture a lot of good photos in less than 20 mins. After that, Mel and I head back home and start preparing the same day edit slide show for the night’s wedding dinner reception.
