A splash of Green on the RED Carpet

Each year as I sit and watch the Academy Awards, I remember what my experience was like the first time I stepped onto the worlds most famous and photographed RED Carpet. What an amazing time the fashions, the Stars and the photographers from around the world.

Sunday all eyes will be on ABC for the 83rd annual Academy Awards. Some of us will have Oscar parties, others will have home made ballots in hand to see if their favorites take home the prize golden Oscar. Yes the fashions, we will all be watching for the latest styles to hit the red carpet. Which stars will shine and which ones will find themselves the talk of the worst dress list covered by the Fashion Police the next day.

This year actor Colin Firth who is one of my favorites has been nominated for Best Actor for his role in “The King’s Speeh“. His wife Livia who is always stylish by his side will be making a statement and being noticed for her Eco Fashion style choice at this years Academy awards show.Livia set out to make a statement by taking on the Green carpet Challenge in wearing sustainable styles. For this years Academy awards show Livia will be wearing a dress made from 11 dresses from the era of the King’s speech. Livia is a style setter in taking old style clothes whether hers or her husbands and recycling them into a new garment. Livia is the owner of an Eco boutique in London called “EcoAge“. Livia is not new to the world of green she has been making headlines for years.

Greening Up my Makeup Bag

I cleaned out my makeup bag and I have too much makeup. Some old, some new it’s just bad. Ladies we all have items in our makeup bags that we love and just can’t live without. My challenge has been trying to find makeup, foundation, full coverage foundation that is eco-green and good for my skin.

As a women of color this has been a challenge for me. Yes I have done the google search, I have sampled and tried products but nothing is working for me so I continue to use my old faithful not so green makeup which I must admit I LOVE!

When it comes to my home facials, I am hooked on products by LUSH. Now this is where I am Green. They are located inside the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. They use organic fruits and vegetables with no preservatives and they reduce their packaging.

So I am putting it out there, if any one knows of a product or makeup line that works well with skin tones for Women of color then please let me know. This is one of my goals in the process of being more green, after all I am the Green Queen.

Let’s face it at the end of the day all I really want is to be Eco-Green and Beautiful like a Cover Girl.
