Tisha+-3yr old Terrier X Africanis. Alert, energetic, protective, friendly, playful, super clever. Loves the beach! Needs active family. Storm+-4 yr old female Collie X. Storm and her "siblings" (Chlöe, Fluffy and Joko) have just lost their home! Storm is a little underweight, and her coat needs a little attention. She's very sweet, gentle, a little shy at first. Will need some TLC... Gemma+-3yr old female Shepherd X. Adopted from DARG about one year ago, returned for becoming too protective over the family. Gemma is a clever, alert, energetic dog, super loving and very affectionate. This poor girl is very confused and desperately needs to find her forever family. Panjo+-6mth old male Husky X Chow. Panjo was aloof and rather stubborn when he first came in. He's now coming out of his shell and he's turning into a big teddy bear! AngusYoung male Terrier X. Great little guy! Sweet and affectionate. Needs some TLC. Desperate for a lap to lay on. Aunty MaudSenior female Staffie X. Unwanted by owner. This is one loving lady who deserves to have a comfy retirement with a loving family. Good with other dogs, good with kids, just GOOD. Oh and she loves her walks and is quite strong! Bel Amie+-18mth old female Staffie X. Owner wanted to put her to sleep but luckily she was sterilized instead and brought to DARG! She is ridiculously loving, wiggly, playful, just full of life! Her indented skull has been checked out by a vet and it's an old injury... We dread to think what exactly caused it. However, this has not affected her in any way. Buddy+-6yr old male Cocker Spaniel. Owner couldn't keep. Affectionate, lively, friendly. DingoYoung male GSD X. Seen wondering the streets for a while before being picked up. Dingo is a big boy and will be a strong powerful dog once he gains some weight. He is lovable, affectionate and quite active. Florinda+-8mth old female Africanis. Florinda came in as a puppy but she struggled with kennel life and it was affecting her behavior. She went home with Hilary and has been learning manners and getting socialized. She is totally wonderful and is ready to make someone a wonderful companion. Jamie+-6mth old male Lab X Alsation (with a ridge!). Playful, affectionate, bouncy, great personality! Ronaldo is a super affectionate boy, very alert and playful! RoxyYoung female Boerbul X. Abandoned by owners in Mitchell's Plain. Roxy is very friendly and loves going for walks. However the neglect she suffered in the past means she needs a very specific home. She would be best suited with owners experienced with the breed, without other pets and no small children. Preferably with people willing to work with her and give her with lots of exercise, TLC and respect! SuziYoung female Terrier X. Super loving, quiet, a little shy at first. Needs TLC. ThandiMeet our latest abuse victim... This little girl was rescued with terrible wounds on her back, which have now been cleaned up. Now it's just a matter of time before she heals. She would be much better off in a foster home, think you can help? Tyrone+-3yr old male cross breed. This boy came in skeletal and covered in mange. He was been at DARG for a few months now and is finally ready for a new home. His hair will take a very long time to grow back and he'd be better off waiting for it in his new home! Active, super friendly and lovable, house trained, knows basic commands (sit, stay, etc), good with most dogs. Would suit small holding. QuinnYoung male American Bulldog X. Adopted from DARG, sadly owner is emigrating in September. Quinn is looking for a new forever home. Here's some of what his current family had to say about him: "Quinn likes his back scratched and howls with excitement when you come home; he loves affection and will sleep almost anywhere except outside! :) Loves his walks, is playful and loves other dogs so much that he will do anything to get to them... He is so gentle and dislikes loud shouting. Very easy dog to live with, loves his hooves and bones!!" SasaYoung female Pitbull. Owner couldn't afford to keep. Besides, he's happiest if he gets to be the baby of the house. He's a happy, lovable, cuddly, playful boy! Gizmo+-2yr old male Africanis. Found - never claimed. Alert, friendly, fun loving dude! Needs active owners. Jasmine"Jazzie" is a +-6yr old female Greyhound X Foxie (look alike... this one was a tough guess). Owner couldn't keep. Adorable, super affectionate, well mannered, simply the best! Dolly+-2yr old female smallish cross breed. Rescued from a school in Athlone where she was seen being abused by children. A kind lady took her away, as well as Dolly's pups (Dixie and Delta), and brought her to DARG. Dolly is mysteriously missing an eye, but a vet has given her the all clear and Dolly is not bothered by it at all. She is also not traumatized and is super affectionate and full of life. A perfect little lap dog! Farrah+-3yr old female Africanis. Found in Woodstock covered in ticks and skinny. Farrah is super affectionate but is still very shy. She will need gentle owners willing to slowly introduce her to a better world (full of walkies, treats, toys...). Promises to make a loyal companion. Fillet2yr old female Jack Russell. Owner couldn't keep. Affectionate, lively little lady! Desperate to be part of a family again. JewelSenior female. Jewel was rescued severely neglected and it took staff a few months to get her right. She healed, and slowly settled in. Jewel has now been waiting for a few years and desperately longs for a home to call her own. She is an affectionate dog, calm and not very demanding. She loves her treats, long naps and back massages... Faithful+-2yr old male cross breed. Found - never claimed. Very friendly, active, playful, affectionate boy! SparkyYoung male Skippertjie X (med/small and slim bodied). Rescued from abusive owners. Little Sparky is quickly regaining his trust in humans. He loves going for walks, loves a lap to sit on, promises to be a loyal companion if treated with the respect and love he so deserves! Tina+-9yr old female Alsation. Owner couldn't keep due to illness. Tina is a very loving dog, gentle and well mannered, and in excellent physical condition. Lollie was handed in by her owners a couple of years ago.  Due to her seizures, finding a home for her proved to be difficult.  A few people tried, but usually couldn’t take it once they witnessed her fitting.  The past few months were tough on Lollie and staff.  The kennels were no place for such a delicate girl! 

The perfect family finally came along, but just a week later, she had the most intense seizure and by the end of it, vets deemed her brain dead. She was put to sleep on the 15 June 2010. 

May her precious soul finally rest in peace…
