Melanie Robel got her first taste of acting when she was forced into high school drama class as punishment. She had punched a red headed boy and made her band director cry. That is where she found her love for acting. She was told she needed to become a triple threat, to study dance and singing. She did that. Quit the theatre to focus on ballet, but on opening night as a soloist, she was dropped by her dance partner. Just for fun, Melanie went to an open casting call. It was her very first audition and she got the management contract, took classes and went to Los Angeles. The red hair, the young look and bad timing, made her decide to go home,to have her look mature and try it again later. A few years later, she did a short film called Grieve. Met some great people, did more projects and is still in love with acting.

The Story

The Impact

At its core, this story is about an underdog and the obstacles she must overcome to better her life. This is the kind of story everyone can relate to in the sense that at some point in our lives, we have all felt rejected. In this story, our protagonist, Kate, struggles with being frowned upon by society because she's a stripper. Yet, people want to be inspired by the underdog, and that's exactly what Kate does. This story shows that no matter what kind of situation you are in, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

More importantly, this film is also about domestic violence. I'd like to bring more awareness to the topic by obtaining sponsorship from a domestic violence awareness group.

While trying to escape he accidentally stumbled upon the Lair. He talked his way out of being eradicated by proving his aptitude for communications and weaponry.

· Lavender Grey, MALE 40’s to 60’s, African American or Hispanic. Lavender Grey or Mr. Grey as he is professional known is a former Deputy Director of a classified robotics division of the US government. Makes a living selling black-market weaponry and opened a club called The Pink Mausoleum as a front for his business. Beneath the club is his secret headquarters called The Lair.

· Blue Soldier Captain, MALE, 20’s to 40’s. Leads the Blue Soldier infantry. Wears long leather trench coat, gas mask attached to a long tube carry case. Carries sawed off shotgun on waist/thigh holster.

· Orchid, FEMALE, 20’s. After both her parents were killed for aiding some unspecified resistance movement, the Contessa found her life meaningless. Desiring to carry on in their places so their deaths would not be in vain, she eventually was contacted by the black ops contract assassin cell, LAVENDER who unbeknownst to Orchid were responsible for her parents death, and entered a training program to become an agent.

· Sephia, FEMALE, 18 to 20’s. Spent years decrying the hypocrisy of the American government, becoming an active participant in militant revolutionary groups, eventually becoming a member of LAVENDER.

· Fuchsia, FEMALE, 20’s, Hispanic, Dark, sensual femme fatale whose beauty is matched only by her ruthlessness.

· The Cleaner, FEMALE, 20’s to 30’s. Curvy, formidable, says what she means, means what she says. Head of Super 13's incident and detail squad. Ensures there are no traces of Super 13 activity in the area. Scrubs the area clean, leaves no witnesses.

Karma Cookie Productions Announces New Project, The Dying Hour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA – Karma Cookie Productions is proud to announce the development of its newest project, The Dying Hour, a suspense thriller written and directed by Tom Cudworth.
The Dying Hour is the story of Danny Haven, a former child star who after discovering that he doesn’t have much time to live, agrees to take on a suicide mission to avenge the death of a helpless girl, in order to provide for his young family and give meaning to what little time he has left.

The movie is currently in development. This is a breakthrough performance for actress Amy Campione who also serves as Executive Producer on the film.
The film is also the directorial debut for the film’s director Tom Cudworth, who has already achieved much success as a writer with films including Restaurant and Ten Benny starring Adrien Brody.
The film’s director of photography, Ed Gutentag, has many achieved much success as well, working on legendary films such as Titanic and Forrest Gump. His 1998 film, Cosmo’s Tale, won the Best Picture Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Our Story

Hollywood can be a dark place - a dark place with dark secrets. Mark Mathieson had it all. A child star with a hit TV show who became a multi millionaire before he had reached puberty. It was after he lost his boyish charm that life began to go wrong for the former child star of the successful television series, “The Boy Next Door”. Mathieson is on trial for his life, for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend Rebecca Brennan, the beautiful daughter of a prominent Beverly Hills Cardiologist. Few doubt that Mark Mathieson is capable of committing such a heinous crime. Though proving it in a court of law is far more difficult than it is in the court of public opinion.

Danny Haven was also a child actor, though not nearly as successful as his former costar Mark Mathieson. However, his life is also in peril. Danny is dying of cancer and struck with the sobering reality of leaving behind his wife Hallie, and their young daughter Sammi. Bills are piling up. The fear and guilt are slowly driving Danny and Hallie apart.

After Mathieson is acquitted to a stunned courtroom, a chance meeting of the Haven family and Rebecca’s father, Dr. Brennan occurs, giving Danny an idea on how to provide for his family and give meaning to what little time he has left. Danny offers to kidnap Mathieson, force a taped confession, and then kill him. To avoid prosecution and any evidence leading back to Brennan, Danny plans to take his own life as well. In return the wealthy Dr. Brennan agrees to provide for Hallie and their daughter Sammi.

A suicide mission is underway, where the climactic ending is inevitable bloodshed. As it were in The Dying Hour…

If a leader of a group commands a whole school to beat me up, I would loathe him and would not hesitate to “Bruce Lee-kick” him in the face! Would I fall in love with him though? Boys Over Flowers tells the story of Jan Di (Koo Hye Sun) who goes through an elite school, as fate manages to throw her into hell. She ends up meeting The F4, which is a group that consists of four of the richest boys in Korea; Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho), Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong), Yi Jeong (Kim Bum), and Song Woo (Kim Joon). Based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango by Yoko Kamio, this working class girl challenges the bullies from picking on innocent victims in school, making the boys grow up and become men. As the change starts to turn their usual habits, so do their feelings for her. A beautiful triangle evolves between Jun Pyo, Jan Di, and Ji Hoo, only to bring chaos upon the love that is blocked from their family background as well as their friendship. The music in the soundtrack takes you on a journey… my favorite ones are the haunting melodies that play out during dark moments. My friend and I watched this in one sitting, three days. It made me laugh, cry, scream, and all of the above. I got fat over the three days because I did not want to get off my bum and miss what was going on. Boys Over Flowers introduced me to the world of Korean drama, and I fell in love. I couldn’t get enough and I wanted more. I have yet to see the Japanese version or the Chinese version, but so far, I love what I see.

Playful Kiss… Why would I go out with someone who thinks I am stupid? Why would I want to continue to pursue a guy who keeps turning me down non-stop and keeps degrading me in front of my friends and family? I do have a wild imagination. Everyone does… or every girl in love, including Oh Ha Ni (Jung So Min), who daydreams scenarios with her high school crush, Baek Seung-Jo (Kim Hyun Joong). This girl has a huge heart, and dreams big, based on the manga Itazura Na Kiss by Tada Kaoru. Her brain does not match her actions, so she does everything in her power to prove herself to the boy she loves. The sad thing is, this boy treats her low for not matching his IQ. Too bad he has to live with her… oh no, she has to live with him! If you are into comedy, this is probably a light upbeat turn of events. I love the kisses in the story (I am a HUGE romance girl). However, if you are someone that believes in girl power, you might be pulling your hair out and screaming. I love the acting in this drama, especially seeing Kim Hyun Joong in his leading role, compared to who he played as Ji Hoo in BOF. However, I don’t know if I would see it again, because seeing a guy treat a girl like crap and somewhat gets away with it really gets under my skin. Maybe because it reminds me of how I use to be in high school when I met my beau (You know I love you baby). The music is quirky, and the imaginative artistry is fun and wild! I would smack Baek Seung-Jo, and I would shake Oh Ha Ni to find a better guy. But what I say does not matter, I still love them, and it means they did their job ;)

Life is beautiful when you are answering your call to God in a convent, only to have a music talent manager asks you to join a popular boys’ band and disguise as your twin brother. Angels are found in You’re Beautiful, also known as Hangul. This story has one of the best ensembles. Go Mi Nyu (Park Shin Hye) plays a sister in training who moves into the world of the group “A.N. Jell”. Covering up for her brother, who happens to be in surgery, she becomes “Mi Nam”, and ends up meeting and colliding with the leader of the band, Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk), who hates “his” living guts. The other two members, Jeremy (Lee Hongki) and Shin Woo (Jung Yong Hwa) are unsure of how to react to the new band mate. Craziness unfolds, there is never a dull moment; it always kept you wanting to figure out what happens next. The characters and the script are so well written. Bravo to the actors who brought it to life. I am in love with Jang. He is an actor you should keep your eye out for. They actually considered him for the role of Jun Pyo in BOF, but due to scheduling conflicts, he had to turn it down. He is also a beautiful, talented singer. for his latest single, Let Me Cry. Park does a beautiful job playing Mi Nam and Mi Nyu. The chemistry is so rich. You must see this, even if you decide not to see the other two, you must see this one.

Korean dramas are taking worldwide audiences by force. If you don’t mind the language barrier, are into anime, and love a damn good story with well developed characters, this is for you. Episodes range from 16-25. Each episode is 45 min to an hour long, so it won’t take much of your time. Be prepared to not take a break though, it will suck you in if you let it! I am still checking out more dramas, and started Coffee Prince along with My Girlfriend is a Nine Tailed Fox. Yes, some scenarios are a little “soap-perish”, but the acting is really powerful, the stories are phenomenal, and the characters make you forget and cheer them on. So Korea, gamsahabnida for bringing these nollawo deulama to our world. J
