I really hate taking breaks from writing music, I just don’t know what to do with myself, and nothing can fill the gaping hole that it leaves behind. But I had to take care of something, and now everything is back exactly where it should be.

I walked into the park at the back of The Crypt and it was as if the universe spoke to me.
I looked up at a huge tree and felt it say, “everything is exactly where it should be, we have work for you to do”.

So as the supernatural one does his warm up exercise of laying a few demonic cities to waste in some alternate reality, I’m rolling up my sleeves and preparing to grab the volcanic fuel rods that give me the power of The Ghost.

I’ve revamped the website, it looks probably the best of any versions, and gets it ready for some label action with Last Known Trajectory.
I will keep on looking for more outlets as there are still some great tracks ready, with more to come from the evil one’s production line.

It doesn’t look like he is thinking of retiring anytime soon, so I am screwed.
I’m just the latest vessel in a long line over thousands of years and many worlds.

So you’ll have to pull my keyboard from my cold dead hand, and after that The Ghost will tap some unsuspecting artist on the shoulder one day and offer him a deal…..

Stress Factor Podcast 034 – Dawl – February 2011 New Electro & Breaks Studio Mix by DAWL

I’ve disconnected a lot of sites, people and numbers after gaining great clarity along with upgraded creativity.
No more Facebook, only an artist page, no more Myspace, Linked in, CD Baby, Reverbnation.

Twitter has been cleaned out unless I learn something from the information, Soundcloud has been cleared, no more “follow me” whores. But I will keep it alive as it has proved productive. Youtube remains for now, but I will cut out anything and anyone that wastes my time.

It’s actually quite liberating to see things for what they really are. There is finally some new record label interest in my new cuts too. It will be a while before that comes out, so in the meantime, looking for a home for the remaining tracks.

The Electro is strong in the first wave and evolving in the 2nd. It’s going to leave a big batch for people to choose from.

Still discovering, still learning how to best tap into the new creative underwold city that I now have the key to. I don’t think I will ever run out of places to explore there…..some days it looks like a brand new cityscape, others like an ancient city a thousand years old, always changing and growing as I walk past every street.

Much more time gets spent on details that I would normally let slide, getting used to this is tough, especially when you’re tired, but accept no compromises and the music will come through for you.

Standards are raised higher than ever, The Ghost on a bad day is better than most, but thats exactly where I should be, plus there are many years of ground to make up, so I’ll earn the right to be amongst the best by working hard at it.

Another warrior begins his training today, ready to go out and battle for the underworld cause. I’m beginning to build quite an army….

I’ve tried to think back, did this extra door in the creative well ever open before, I think maybe, but it was exhausted pretty fast, this time is utterly different.

Sure there are people thinking yeah right, “in your opinion” these tracks are hot, but I always set the bar at the best of the best, and I’m frequently not satisfied. I could stamp anyone’s name on this track, past or present and people would say it was a great track. It’s going to be slightly embarrassing for those that hear this and the big bag of electro with it, and pass it by.

I’m enjoying this feeling very much, it feels limitless right now, we shall see what happens next, but confidence is even higher than it normally is, alpha wolf in full flow. I will see if this can sustain and what wonderful bombs can be exploded over cities worldwide.

The new version sounds much better, always experimenting with the bass to get it deeper, louder and hitting you in the chest. I always want standards to be raised and never to rest. Rest when you’re dead, for now write like a machine.

I’m firing out a very strong 7 track demo to push to get a release soon. I’m looking for an established label, it always acts as a great catalyst to have an outlet, and it’s about time I got enough recognition to get out there and play, not to mention earn a few quid.

It’s always sad the uk rarely can get over it’s politics, it’s always the US or Europe that like what I do. Coming from the outside in, people suddenly like you. They have all had the demos too, but it just spurs me on to write madness that cannot be denied.

The Ghost is someone you want in your corner, and will fight for whoever supports him, not as a mercenary, but as a member of a squad. It’s a shame I haven’t found a squad to fight with long term yet.

Some bad luck with labels over the years, but I haven’t let myself become jaded, that’s just the way the dice fell. I’m writing the best electro weirdness of my life and improving constantly, so someone will want to back it. It so different though, which can put a lot of people off, but it lasts far longer than anything else, because it sounds like nothing else.

Last years 31 tracks for 12 months was a good tally but should have been 40 plus. Hopefully I can push to over 40 tracks in 2012. It will leave a huge bag of tracks to wreak havoc with, wherever they may launch from.

I may just squeeze out track 32 before the 1st Dec, but it proves that keeping going and not stopping is far, far better than taking breaks.

Experimenting with writing straight after I return home, has worked. It makes it the priority instead of starting after screwing with watching TV or getting distracted. It also seems to get better quality results faster.

Seems your mind likes schedule and routine, so now I need to set a schedule for the weekend, with some flexibility built in if I need to go anywhere. It would be very cool to finish each tune in 5 days and take the weekend off, but thats a tall order, as each one can be different.

Some come easy, others take a little while before they come good. But after this length of time, knowing you can do it, and still produce high quality, inventive underworld destruction, I wish I had done this years ago.

Really though, I never could have, you have to understand your own mind and head to be able to train it. Guess I’m making up for lost ground. The advantage I have is that even now, no one sounds like me, I have my own style, and it doesn’t fade heavily over time.

Just refuse to walk away knowing I could be part of something, and be out there playing and travelling, like I should be. I think, or I know I stack up heavily to the competition.

Your mind likes patterns and routines and it can be programmed to fit what you want. I put notes up on doors where I see them in the morning. Telling me what to do when I get home.

This then sinks into my dark subconscious, slowly throughout the day, so it becomes an instinct later in the day, usually 9 hours roughly.

Now I’ve started composing as soon as I get home, something which I never did before, a little food to stop me falling asleep, and it seems to work.
It must be th the first and only thing you do, any distraction at all, and your emotions will make you slack off. No internet, no phone calls, nothing, the first thing you do.

Sleep – something I have pushed the envelope on for decades, now I realize that a decent sleep gives me more energy later in the day to write.
Being tired is also your biggest enemy as it tries to override everything. If you’re too tired it will stop you doing anything at all.

Once December starts I will roll straight into a fresh counter of zero. Think my ratio of 30 tunes in 12 months isn’t high enough, it should be 40. I think I can do that every year, year in year out.

Now all I need to do is to get the best of the crop out there earning and subverting.

The writing break always happens when I move, like a tree being uprooted, it takes weeks for me to settle.Since this is my 24th move, you can understand why.

One of the things that throws my creative monsters into a corner to recharge for a while and lick their wounds.
It has been hard to start again, and slow, proves even more that long breaks do me no good at all, but 30 plus quality tracks is a heavy box full of electro breaks weaponry.

So I shouldn’t beat myself up so much.

When the clock strikes for the 1st December, I will set the counter to 0 and it begins again. I’m curious to see how far I can take the 2nd year of disciplined writing, but none of this would happen without my dark passenger.

It’s not a slave, it’s sentient like a seperate entity, just stuck within your soul. You are the vessel.

Now I understand if you treat it with the respect it deserves, reward it, challenge it, don’t let it get out of shape, it will stay fighting fit, ever growing and morphing, for as long as you need it.

It has no limits and no boundaries, but needs rewards and achievements to continue.
You wouldn’t carry on working like a dog for nothing would you? So why should your creativity.

It’s emotive, so it needs to feel emotion, happiness, darkness, elation, love, thrills, experiences. They will keep it going and your ally for the rest of your life.

Experimenting and pushing what you do creates the challenge and achievement. Improve the mix, bass, motion, feeling, loudness etc all satisfies that beast.

This is track 29 since december 2010, proof that these theories work. These are the best tracks and they go on improving because they’re not the same as what went before.

People always expect the same, which is why people peak and die, trapped in a box by pressure.
The bass and loudness, not to mention the blurring speed of motion created by this tune , wouldn’t exist without experiments. Some experiments have to fail for others to succeed.

After not giving The Ghost enough rewards for its efforts, I finally bought a blu ray player for 60 quid at Sainsburys, a bargain.

30 Days Of Night looks great on it, and the first Hi Definition of any kind I’ve seen. A film tailor made for The Ghost and it looks and feels great to watch. So a few more blu ray discs will keep the creative beast going in future.

Despite a negative job, home , not to mention derogatory observations about my entire life and music, I have had a lot of energy lately.

Stronger than ever actually, which tells me I’m on the right track. It wouldn’t give me rushes walking down the street if I was unhappy or living a lie would it?

Collapse in adversity is not something that will happen, now or ever, there is no way back.
That bridge is a smoking wreck…

Perhaps freshening up my work and home environment will change that, the home will change shortly, and even though the rent will be financially crippling, feels like something I need to do.

So bring on the comments, barbs, hooks, bullets the attempts to destroy, chip away all day and night. You’re just going to end with them dissolving on impact.

I will be walking down the street without a drop of energy drained, and building more sparks by the day.

God help anyone if I learn to fire them into the air…

It has to fit with the Ghost’s deadly game, but I just can’t nail one. Thought of names with Night Train in, Asphixiate The Night, Day Of The Stalker, Obsess and Caress. Just haven’t nailed the right one yet.

It will come to me, just got to send it into my unconscious mind to process and deliver THE Name.
Feels good to hit tune electro 27 and not be writing mush by now. Got a LOT of good energy now.
I really hope it helps draw a new job towards me, and then a decent home as my reward.

The end of November approaches, and after 12 months it’s looking good for hitting 40 tunes.
The quality has been great, and even if you discard a large crop, a very strong bunch of tone warriors are left behind, ready to take on all comers.

Then on the 1st week of Dec, it all begins again…
There will be one serious arsenal of tunes in my hand after year 2. Perhaps it’s like Highlander, the quickening, where each great tune enhances your power and prolongs your life.

What is amazing is my job is changing to be rid of people and the aspects of it that I don‘t like. This is amazing that you can will something to happen and it does.

But it’s not the place I need to be, and life cannot move forward without it. So thanks for the delivery as always, but back to the mind bending and string pulling to pull apart the universe, and piece it back together to form a new golden path to Ghost Walk along.

Smoking Djinn is the 26th tune of my electro breaks workout, and will be polished off tonight.
Tough sometimes to fight through tiredness and emotions wanting to give up, but I fight on, as behind me lies death and a life painted in grey lifeless colours.

Not what The Ghost wants or plans for me, sacrifice for the right reasons as usual, although it seems right now like one big sacrifice with no payoff.

Keep on believing you’re the “one”…

A new base is needed where I can relax, continue my dark experiments, as well as some more privacy.
Tracks can flow under extreme circumstances but that doesn’t mean I should suffer for it.

My new job applications are in and if I land a new role, a decent place of my own to rent, a proper base for the black operations to spread their shadowy fingers from.

The timing would be to the nano second, so just keeping my universal thoughts tuned, and hoping my good karma is about to splay it’s wings and land.

Track number 25, Blood & Lace, a weird blend of techno, electro and dark ghostly speech, is added to the ranks.
Still odds on for 40 tunes by December of this year.
A 3:30 am finish and somehow I am still functioning, running on something, ghost occult plutonium maybe…

It’s as if nothing else matters anymore, and despite having a negative job and too many hours of work, the tracks still flow. Despite having a negative place to live, where I can’t rest and they only want me there for the cash, the tracks still flow.

To top it all off to have the girl you are with tell you are not good enough for her, because you’re not rich, you know it’s time to smash the board and start again.

Throughout all of this The Ghost still continues my training, and we still produce some glorious evil electro breaks experiments.

Now we hit tune No 24, The Beast, another dark , foreboding workout with the Ghost giving it his Underworld seal of approval. Perhaps because he thinks it will get into peoples minds and activate their inner Ghost too.

Everyone should have one, maybe you all do…you just have been living in denial….for the whole of your life…..unplug yourself and start doing something, never look back….
