MY REVIEW

You don't really believe it's possible to fall for a drug (Lord) dealer who's also a pimp and who also has killer instincts to keep under control all the time, right? Wrong, of course. Rehvenge is one of the most fascinating characters I encountered in this series so far. And believe me, there are a lot... Still, Rehv has something different that you can't quite picture at first and perhaps not even totally comprehend until this very instalment, but it's always there, you can feel it and, for a reason or another, it won't make you dislike him even if you try hard. After "Lover Avenged"? It's all being crazily lost for him!

I had a rush of strong emotions running in me all the time, and I have to point out how much I loved the whole flirting between Rehv and Elhena. Those two seriously gave me chills, made me grin, sometimes even laugh, but I might have cried a little (too much), too... They're so different and still so very close. A very well match indeed. But if they are so, what can I say about John Matthew and Xhex? Now, they definitely made my eyes burn with tears and I can't imagine how it's going to be with the next instalment I'm about to read...

I loved the whole plot with all the usual unexpected, amazing twists and the cliffhanger here was a real killer! Be prepared to have "Lover Mine" at hand as soon as you finish this one, or you're going to seriously regret it!

MY REVIEW

I read "Father Mine" as part of the Compendium an amazing friend of mine surprisingly gifted me. Z and Bella are two characters I've always loved, so it could have only been a pure pleasure for me to read a novella about them. And now that Nalla has been added to the lovely family picture, how could I not be anything but ecstatic? Of course, to reach the happiness we usually need to follow a long and hard road and this couple was no exception... But then, it wouldn't be Z and Bella if everything went smooth, and the beauty of Z is getting into you every time making you inevitably cry first (possibly more than once) and letting you literally melt for him later (surely more than you think).

I simply loved this novella, it was emotional, sweet and it also had a special tenderness of its own. Another gorgeous story in a series with plenty of outstanding plots and awesome characters!

MY REVIEW

I'll be damned, I would have never guessed! What Gemma James did with this last instalment in her beautiful trilogy was pure magic. She not only revealed something impossible to have ever imagined, she scared me with a fab plot twist and then surprised me with what I would define a very well thought, appropriate finale. See? Magic!

I previously told I was for Gage all the way and I can only confirm you that. He is a very strong character, frighteningly irresistible and with many demons of his own that make him even more interesting... He is what gives the story that powerful intensity that never leaves you but constantly builds a crescendo of suspense and anticipation for the next move. Never predictable, always exciting.

Brilliant! I applaud Gemma James and her creativity. Of course, I suggest to all of you dark erotica readers not to waste more time. Go grab The Devil's Kiss trilogy now and start reading it right away!

MY REVIEW

From what I previously read, I'd never said I would have been particularly into Synjon, but now, surprise, surprise I can't wait for his book to come out! He and Petra are a very interesting match, their strong personalities and different point of view push them to clash with each other over basically everything. But in the end, they're flirting all the way without even realising it. When they do? Fireworks!

Laura Wright's writing is fascinating, she succeeds every time in making you feel first in a certain mood and then suddenly in a very different one. Some times you're on the verge of crying, others you feel hot as hell... But what you will always find in her books (no matter the length) it's the right dose of humour and amazing twists you will never be ready for, but that will leave you beg for more.

MY REVIEW

I didn't have any particular interest in Phury up until the previous instalment, where I found a Phury-oh-my! really of my liking. He's different from the other Brothers, he has a special inner battle with himself because of what he has done or better what he hasn't done right. This completely from his point of view, of course, because he clearly did good and in more than one occasion, but it appears he can only see the worst part of his actions. I'm sure all this could bother someone but, as I see it, the whole struggle was something supposed to happen from the beginning and besides, you can't avoid to fall for the tormenting relationship with the sweet, pure Cormia. Gosh, the deep tenderness I felt for this character is indescribable and I couldn't help myself but think of The Little Mermaid. Read the book and I dare you not to make the lovely comparison and be touched by it.

I must admit I got quite distracted because of certain side stories... But I don't mean this in a bad way at all. How could I, when I'm referring especially to the amazing trio: Qhuinn, Blay and JM? At this point, Qhuinn is dangerously wonderful and, what do you know, I'm totally cheering for Qhuay! Cherry on top, John can't stop driving me insane with his handsomeness in everything he does, or thinks of doing, or he would love to do, or... Damn, if I'm this way now, guess when it's time to read his book (shivers all along). Although this should be enough to declare love, something unpredictable and someone new (perhaps even an old acquaintance?) appearing on the scene made the read even more precious.

Since I don't know how to stop this reading madness (now, why would I ever want that?), next instalment here I am! And, if you still haven't started this impressive series yet, I strongly suggest you to do so, like right now!

MY REVIEW

In Skye Warren's books there's always some kind of I-did-not-see-that-coming revelation that makes the read unique and particularly good. "Wanderlust" was certainly no exception.

Evie seems to have no luck with life, it constantly brings her pain and apparently it makes only the worst of people cross her path. But is it really all darkness and suffering? Or is the dark something she needs to embrace to gain some sort of stability and the so wanted freedom? Can that even be possible? And Hunter, with his depraved actions and uncontrolled behaviour, he's definitely someone you can only despise, right? Keep telling yourself that, it might work, who knows... Otherwise, welcome to the beauty of Skye Warren's twisted world, where very dark characters are disturbingly compelling and the romance shockingly astonishing.

Different from Warren's Dark Erotica series but still not less impressive or dark, "Wanderlust" is extremely naughty, thrilling and, God help me, even touching. I love this author and her way to tell every powerful story, I always can't wait for what's next!

MY REVIEW

The instant chemistry I had with V from the first instalment has become pure love... Like a runaway train! This character is seriously beyond amazing and I don't know what I'm captivated by the most: his dark background, his curse/gift, his complicated and beautiful relationship with Butch, his love for Jane... Sigh, Doc Jane is abso-freaking-lutely perfect for V. In fact, I'd say this couple is the best match in the series so far.

Every instalment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood made me cry at some point, but with this one my vision was completely blurry, especially during the last few chapters... And yes, I might have freaked out a little... But then, a huge thanks to Butch an V for cracking me up so much that sometimes I got distracted and ended having the best of times. And to make the read even more special, on the background we have a glorious John Matthew (who's growing on me at fast speed) and, I don't believe I'm saying this, a OMG Phury... When has he become so interesting? Good thing his book is next, because after certain plot developments my curiosity is killing me!

Full of revelations over revelations, "Lover Unbound" is a magnificent read and V... well, V is undeniably irresistible... So far, this is definitely my favourite book in the series!

After a minute I peeked around the trunk. Not far away a form moved in and out of the shadows. I couldn’t sense if the thing was Vyken or human, but the moment it stepped into the light of the full moon, and I saw its face, I knew it was a Vyken. And by its slender form, I guessed a woman, but I couldn’t tell by the face, which was missing half of its leathered skin. The other half was a rotted skull with a green, moss-like substance clinging to the cheekbone. The bone was a dirty yellow, the same color as her two rows of broken teeth.

She looked around and sniffed like she was searching for something. Her eyes jerked to the tree I was hiding behind. I ducked farther behind it and held my breath, my heart pounding and sweat breaking on my brow. Any other day I would’ve jumped at the chance to fight, but I was still too afraid of what Liam had told me and of what I already knew. Was I seeing my future?

“I smell you, Aura,” the woman said. Her voice was deep and raspy.

I left my hiding spot and ran as fast as I could, crashing through the forest, arms outstretched. I pushed my already exhausted legs hard as I hurdled over, under, and around what felt like an Amazon jungle.

The Vyken chased after me, making a strange sound with her throat, almost like a pig grunting. I looked back at her and saw that the sound was from the wind moving between exposed cords on her neck where there was no skin. The sight and sound of her made me find a second wind, and I sped up.

Bursting through a tall bush, I moved to take a step but found nothing but air. I fell, more like bounced, end over end down a steep hill. I didn’t stop moving until I landed in cold water. I sucked in air and quickly stood up. In front of me was a lake the size of a football field. Moonlight stretched across it like a lit-up road. I looked around. Other than a steep incline around the water’s edge, most of which was covered in trees and bushes, there was no easy way around it.

I thought about climbing back up the hill, but even as I thought it, I heard the female Vyken coming closer. Having no other choice, I moved farther into the cold water until, once again, my foot found no ground beneath me. A sharp drop-off plunged me into the water. I gasped at the shock of it and swam backward to keep my eyes on the top of the ridge.

Just then the hunched-over female appeared. I took a deep breath and dipped beneath the water’s surface. A few feet away I spotted a branch attached to a fallen tree lying at the bottom of the lake. I swam over and took hold of it to keep me from floating up.

Through the clear water, I could just barely make out the Vyken’s form as she made her way down the incline. When she reached the water’s edge, she paused and scanned the surface. After a moment, she turned and began to move back up the hill. Just in time too because my lungs were burning.

I was about to push up when all of a sudden she stopped and turned back around. I bit the insides of my cheek to keep from instinctively taking in a breath.

She returned to the water’s edge, and what she did next had me frantically looking around for an escape. Her black boot slid onto the water’s surface, and as soon as it touched it, the water beneath her foot turned to ice. Another step. More ice. An ice bridge was being created wherever she moved. Ten more steps and she’d be standing directly above me.

Although I was terrified, my lungs no longer cared. I let go of the tree branch and began to float up, but just as I was about to break the surface and gasp for air, something took hold of my ankle and pulled me down.

Her pounding pulse heated Krystoff’s blood and had saliva pooling in his mouth. He swallowed but it wasn’t nearly enough to quench his thirst. Standing behind her, he quickly conjured a pair of jeans and slid them on, then backed away from the inviting skin just below her right ear. This witch’s intense scrutinizing had been quite the test in self-control. One more minute and he would have pinned her against the door and traced his tongue over each and every tattoo decorating her skin.

Krystoff walked around the table and pulled out another chair, flipped it around and sat astride. “Charmer, huh?” He liked the nickname, even though it didn’t suit him. Nothing about his life had been charmed. Blaming Riona would have been easy, but he’d made his own share of mistakes over the years. Something about this witch had him regretting quite a few of those blunders. Perhaps her magick had him ensnared in a spell of remorse.

Her hands found their way to her lap and she sighed. “My sister named you that.”

Red marks in the shape of her fingers marred her pale neck. They would fade, but he didn’t like seeing them at all. He should be the only one marking her neck. What was he thinking? This witch wasn’t his. Nor did he have time for a romp between the sheets—not even a short one. His mother—correction—Riona would be looking for him. It would be wise if he sought her out first. Maybe he’d get lucky and find Riona and Scout in the same place.

His blue-eyed angel stared at him, and he realized she’d been waiting for him to speak. “Sister? Ah, the fire witch.” The witch with red hair had incredible aim. She’d fried many Mistropans with one fireball. How many had she taken out after he’d passed out?

Calliope smiled. “Just one of her many talents. Bevva’s a caster.” The smile vanished.

He watched as she pinched her lips shut and shook her head. “It’s okay. Her secret is safe with me.”

“I doubt it.”

“Don’t.”

She jerked in her seat as if he’d slapped her. He’d never met such a complex being. One moment she looked ready to throttle him, a second later he thought she’d bolt, and yet another blink and the witch appeared ready to join him for a little skin-on-skin action. Krystoff cleared his throat and attempted to soften his tone. “It’s the least I can do. The two of you saved my life. I owe you at least that.” He stuck out his hand. “Name’s Krystoff.”

Wariness danced in her eyes before she sighed again and accepted his hand. “Calliope.”

Lovely. “Suits you.” He skimmed his thumb over her knuckle.

She blinked and pulled away, her movements sluggish. “Does it? I never thought so.”

“You’re made to make music and dance under the stars.”

A blush crept across her cheeks. “If only Bevva could hear you now. She’d laugh her way to the moon.” Calliope picked at the chipped black polish on her thumb. “Charmer, indeed. You use those lines on all women, or just the ones who save you from taking a stroll with the banshee?”

Shoving out of her chair, she stomped to the stove and restocked her cabinets with precision. Each methodical movement captivated Krystoff. She waved a glass bottle in front of her face, then placed it on the exact shelf he’d taken it from. He admired her organizational skills.

Krystoff scooted his chair closer. Her pace slowed and a bottle of dill fell from her shaking hands, spilling onto the floor. “Do I make you nervous?”

Her lashes fluttered open. With a deep breath, she turned and leaned against the counter. “No. You make me tired.”

“I can see that.” Dark circles had formed crescents under her eyes and her shoulders sagged beneath her black T-shirt. “Why?” He’d expect her to be tired if he’d gotten his wish and had some fun in that bed of hers. They’d only had a simple and brief conversation. What could possibly be tiring about that?

Calliope shoved her hair out of her face, exposing the stars around her eye. “It really doesn’t concern you.”

Krystoff rose and flashed across the small room. The kitchen blurred beyond recognition, but it mattered not. He knew exactly where he was going. In less than a second, he stood directly in front of her, then tilted her chin up with a gentle touch of one finger. “Are you sure about that?”

More blinking, followed by, “You need to go.”

He smiled, dipped closer. She smelled of powder and lilacs, sunshine and wildflower meadows. A more alluring combination could not possibly exist. “I’m not ready to go.” Calliope gripped his shoulders and pushed. Krystoff didn’t budge. He held her in place with his body. When she punched him, he laughed. This witch was feisty. If only he had more time.

“What are you?” she asked with one more futile shove.

He considered lying, and then shrugged. “I’m just a soulless half-breed wizard, but I do believe you’re the one who’s cast a spell.” He couldn’t resist. Krystoff dipped his head one more time, touched his lips to hers and became even more enchanted.

MY REVIEW

Subs can't use an inappropriate tone, call their Doms with their real names or question them about whatever they like. If anything like that happens, there are going to be consequences/punishments for the Sub. In "His Alone", Elliott steps back and lets this kind of behaviours go (apart from once). Of course, as the blurb says he has problems of his own and I did expect a change of heart (so to speak), but perhaps more gradually? Months have passed since he and Cleo started it all, but since we don't get to see any of that and Cleo affirms Elliott is a real Master, I would have definitely liked to see him more in control and with a firm hand. At least to start with.

Overall, the plot was fluent and the read pretty quick. Unfortunately, I haven't felt the right involvement with the characters and that put me down. But I honestly wouldn't mind giving other stories by Keta Diablo a try.

MY REVIEW

For most part of "Dark Lover" (first instalment in the series) I didn't quite like Butch, but then Marissa appeared and something changed in him so much that I started to look at our cop with different eyes, and that special sparkle I was so hoping for hit me like a cyclone! In every book Butch was a constant revelation and he quickly became one of my favourite characters in the series, so I was really looking forward to read his book. But believe me, I would have never guessed what Ward had ready for him...

I loved every minute, page, event... Everything. The only thing, or better character that bothered me a little was Marissa. A shame because I really liked her at the start of the series, but here I felt like she lost some of her charm with all the highs and lows with Butch. Anyway, I do still like them as a couple, some of their moments together put a lovely smile on my face and it was then that the Marissa I like was really shining.

Vishous... Sigh, V... I had an instant chemistry with him from the very beginning, so no big surprise I was in awe with everything that involved him in here. And how much involvement there was! The whole Butch/Vishous 'situation' is something you need to read by yourself to understand how things are between those two and see if you like it or not. Personally, I think V gets Butch (and vice versa) in a way nobody else does and I was really touched by them. Now there's definitely nothing that I want more than go ahead and read V's book!

MY REVIEW

I couldn't put this book down and believe me when I say that the events are still pretty vivid in my mind as much as all the strong emotions both story and characters gave me. With Bella taken captive and a desperate Z looking for her, I was already feeling pretty emotional, then flashbacks of Z's past and his tormenting days as a slave started blurring my eyes until I found myself weeping because of the couple, their relationship issues and... well, complications. Painful and touching, Bella and Z's story is extremely powerful.

Truth to be told, I didn't love this book just because of the main couple. Lots of oh-my things happen and for different characters... I definitely had a better connection with most of them and a special mention needs to be done for John Matthew. Boy, I'm growing so fond of him!

Heartbreaking from the beginning to the end, "Lover Awakened" is the best instalment so far! But then, the twist at the end of this book really got me by surprise and I'm thrilled and in a desperate need to go on with the read. So I'm pretty positive about the fact that this series is getting better and better any time!

MY REVIEW

If the first instalment of the series was great, "Lover Eternal" was amazing! It definitely had a bigger impact on me, especially on an emotional level. Action and drama absorbed me so much that I sighed/cried all the time and I'm pleased to tell that I felt a stronger connection with the characters, including someone in the background...

Rhage already got me with his curse in the previous book. We didn't know everything in detail, but just knowing this handsome brother (so handsome that the Brotherhood nicknamed him Hollywood) had a dragon tattooed on his back that was more than a simple gorgeous ink on skin, was reason enough for me to start wondering about and irreparably dream of him. Too bad for me, Mary was the lucky girl! I must say, Rhage and Mary are a great match. There are lots of hot moments going on between the two of them, but also very sweet ones and believe me, their story has such a unique tenderness that really warms your heart... Both beautiful characters, where one is undoubtedly physically stronger, the other is so mentally. But can the last be able to tame a beast?

I'm totally enthralled by this series (not to mention the Brotherhood), and with a turn out of events like the one in here, the only plausible thing to do is to go grab the next instalment and start living another prodigious adventure!

MY REVIEW

I surrendered to the dark side and finally started this highly recommended series. Last year I had a chance to review the tenth book in the series and I didn't have a single problem following the events (thanks to Ward for doing such a great job with her books), but my curiosity to find out everything about everyone was devouring me. I don't honestly know how I survived for such a long time, so here I am with the very first instalment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

I admit I had a few highs and lows during the first chapters, but then both plot and characters got into me so much that I reached the point in which I read like a crazy. Should I point out how hot those vampires are? Perhaps I should warn the audience that we're talking about huge hotness here... But does the heat come just from their handsome presence? Oh, no. Each one of them has a very dark nature, some even a curse of their own, and they're all tortured heroes with OMG what an amazing taste in music! They really give you the perfect soundtrack to keep the reading on the right level and, among other millionth things, they make you laugh.

Boys aside, I must give kudos to Beth, an heroine who brilliantly made her entry in a world I dare you not to want to be in. I liked her a lot and seeing the development of her relationship with Wrath, what at first might have seemed a ~~simple chemistry~~ pure lust, it was great and touching.

Easy to imagine what I am reading right now, huh? After all, when you taste something so sinfully good, you can't have enough of it...
