Asteroid Atropos 273

Astronomical data: Atropos has diameter of just 29km and it has an orbital period of approximately 3.8 years. The meaning of the word is “the inevitable”, and what is impossible to put aside. It’s namesakes include the poison Atropo Belladonna or “Deadly Nightshade” and an ominous looking yellow and black moth called Acherontia Atropos or “Deaths Head Hawkmoth” There is even a skull motif on its thorax. It was regarded as an evil omen.

This moth is a thief and opportunist, it steals nectar from the honeybee. So Atropos is a scavenger, like the raven, and associated with both death and magic. Scavengers are looked down upon, but they are  essential as natures  recyclers and  rubbish collectors. Maybe Atropos in the chart burns off once any for all any left over festering karma.

How appropriate then the standout aspect in the discovery chart is Saturn the grim reaper square cutting Mars (Atropos’s evil sheers). The two malefic’s are in a very tight square of just 03’! They are also both retrograde which again suggests the wheel of karma and the cycle of life. Atropos’ chart see’s both the Sun and the Moon attached to Dark Goddesses. We have the Sun conjunct Eris. My “Queen of Chaotic fate.”  This shows the terror of Atropos. Death can be so random and unfair.

Moon is square both Lilith and Ceres too. To me Lilith conjunct Ceres is the potion (or poison)-making witch. Moon square Ceres: “ can turn very easily destroy life instead of saving it, they can love so hard and hug so tightly that they end up squeezing the life out of their loved ones.” There is a parasitic, vampiric element to Atropos. With Moon square Lilith “They may break under the pressure of this aspect and succumb to the temptation of Lilith’s forbidden fruit in the shape of sex addiction or drugs. If they manage to come through then these subjects are a fantastic example of the Phoenix rising from the flames.”

The last sentence is important, because we need to remember that after death comes new life. If your belief system allows you to re-cycle, then you will not be so fearful of Atropos and will see each ending as a new beginning.

As for Atropos herself, she is at 5º Virgo 31’ which puts her in a weird aspect pattern that has her square the God of Hell (Pluto), trine the Witch (Ceres/Lilith), and quincunx the Moon. To me it actually does look like scissors!, but the Hubers call this pattern “The Runner”:
“Reflex mechanisms were learnt back in childhood that could develop into addictions to certain actions and activities. This figure just needs to be nudged at one corner and it springs to life….This one is always getting into conflicts ( the squares V trines) Prehaps one is projecting something into the world (Trines) that does not suit it. Many people react to this by taking refuge in their work (Workoholics), or depending on the planets, sport or sex”[3]

Here the refuge looks more like sex and drugs with Lilith/Ceres/Pluto. Lilith/Ceres are on  Sheratan in the randy ram, this star is makes it subjects “Daredevils and bold, danger is indicated when acting impulsively and in a foolhardy way.” I have seen the dark side of Ceres connected to opiates. Like Atropos, opiates can suck the life out of you and also dehydrate. Mars square Saturn at it’s very worst is petrified, so becomes a zombie. If  the refuge is sex addiction, it will be one of those parasitic relationships that drain you of your money or energy, or both. In worst cases someone literally could be the death of you.

I was surprised how much Atropos cropped up in what I considered decent soulmate relationships, it tended to be in soft aspect though. There is obviously a karmic theme. Maybe the partners become each other’s drug and refuge, or they help each other out of toxic behaviour. Otherwise the hard aspects look particularly tricky, where one partner becomes a drain on the other. Synastry connections to the Davison will help determine which partner is the vampiric Atropos. Another possibility of course is Atropos will show how the couple finally part.

Asteroid Hygeia Discovery Chart

Asteroid 10 Hygeia was discovered by Annibale de Gasparis on April 12, 1849, in Naples, Italy. I could not find an exact time in this link so have set the chart for 10 pm. Mars conjunct Neptune is interesting and must be important in this chart because it is on the degree of the previous Solar Eclipse. Neptune does rule illness and Mars pain, and they make a quincunx aspect to asteroid Hygiea. The quincunx is an aspect of health, usually some imbalance.

Mercury, the messenger of the gods, is also important because it is on the degree of the preceding New Moon, both opposite asteroid Hygeia. So there are opposing forces to contend with, some difficulty in getting her message across. That makes sense, we know what’s good for us but how many of us refuse to listen to good health advice? Mercury conjunct Saturn implies a serious message but also difficulty getting it across. Mercury conjunct Saturn can also mean depressing news, or melancholic thoughts, and that tends to be what we think when being lectured about health issues. This conjunction can also mean we fear knowing something, or fear the worst, in this case hypochondria.

More melancholic thoughts and even fear of poison comes from the North Node on the fixed star Zosma. Venus in The Pleiades is associated with sickness by Robson, and Venus is opposite Chiron, the wounded healer. Although I have guessed the discovery time, it must have been around then as discoveries in those days had to be made at night with a telescope. Within a couples of hours either side of 10 pm, the Moon was on the fixed star Ras Alhague, the brightest star in constellation Ophiuchus (Asclepius), the father of Hygiea. He holds the Serpent of wisdom and healing, and this is how Hygeia is depicted in ancient sculptures and artworks. Ebertin says that this star makes one “especially prone to infectious contamination caused by toxins. People thus influenced are easy going in the use of medical drugs, hallucinatory drugs stimulating foodstuffs, too much good living and overindulgence in tobacco and alcohol“.

Asteroid Hygeia Astrology

As I mentioned in the introduction, astrologers have made the link between asteroid Hygeia and health. Loni Haas say asteroid Hygiea “represents our attitude and belief system concerning health and fitness awareness. Hygeia also rules sanitation and the valuable role hygiene and diet play in health maintenance. She often shows up by transit or appears on a major angle when an individual is experiencing a health issue…Hygeian influence is felt among dieticians, physical fitness educators and teachers, dental hygienists, mental health facilitators who embrace the mind/body connection, holistic practitioners, sanitation inspectors, environmentalists, and preservationists who believe keeping the Earth clean and pollution free.“

Jeremy Neal makes a good argument for Asteroid Hygiea ruling Virgo and the 6th house, “if we are burning the candle at both ends, drinking too much, eating junk food and not washing enough we are offending Hygeia, and her judgement will be handed down in the form of illness, disease, degeneration and habitual instability. This is why Hygeia and the 6th house are a perfect fit; it is why Virgo and Hygeia are very comfortable together. Here is the exact kind of specific, attentive, habitual, nutritional and service-minded concern that is so beloved of Virgo. Virgo is Hygeia“.

Seeing the discovery chart I would have to agree with these astrologers, that there is a link between asteroid Hygeia and health. Some keywords could be: Health, medicine, disease, illness, toxins, fear of poison, fear of doctors, fear of medical results, hypochondria, hesitation to get checkups, operations, misdiagnosis, drug abuse, diet. I’ll add more based on what you guys come up with in the comments.

Personal Experience

Earlier today I went to hospital for a colonoscopy and gastroctomy (probed in both ends), because I had a test a few months ago which was positive for blood in my poo poo. I looked at the charts and there were obvious indicators like Uranus on my Chiron and Neptune opposite my Mars. I included asteroid Hygeia out of interest and it was most interesting. When I had the test, asteroid Hygiea was on the fixed star Ras Alhague (her dad), and transiting Pluto was square my Hygeia. When the doctor told me the results, Hygiea was conjunct Mercury (health news), both on my Ascendant. When I had the operation today, Hygeia was conjunct the Midheaven and sextile my Hygiea.

Welcome to Marinas shadow manifesto

The cycles of the moon are integral to our daily lives, as are the cycles of the pagan seasons. Older cultures in tune with the earth, respected these cycles. Rebirth takes place at the New Moon and the northern spring equinox. The dark stage is necessary to decompose and replenish the earth in preparation for rebirth. It’s unnatural and exhausting to live in an eternal summer. All living beings need hibernation time, just like women need to respect their menstrual cycle and moods. Ups and downs are normal. Unfortunately expressing wild and raw emotions are deemed to be unacceptable in current society and are often levelled out via pharmaceuticals or suppressed with alcohol or illegal drugs.

Since we at Darkstar base our whole astrological technique on worshipping those fixed stars and their constellations, I think it’s important to emphasize the importance of the lunar cycles in a world that has become overly solar (left-brained and linear). There is more than one sun in the sky!

The Moon Phase Cycle

It was the ancient astrologers observations of the moon across the constellations that enabled them to make their predictions. You cannot stargaze in sunlight obviously. In sidereal astrology the Moon is placed above the Sun in importance, the moon is our closest planetary body after all. There is no question that the Sun is hugely influential in our chart, but I’d like Moon atleast on equal footing.

Which brings me to Lilith! It was this Dark Goddess who seduced me away from Illustration into astrology in the first place. I loved the Lilith symbol. It spoke me symbolically when I first pondered the meaning of this enigmatic black crescent moon atop a cross, blinking at me among the more familiar glyphs. I am still unravelling her mystery.

Black Moon Lilith is the position of the Moons apogee when the Moon is furthest away from the earth. As you can see from this article the moon is bigger and brighter when it is closest to the earth. These are known as “super moons”. The apogee is more like super elusive. By being further away from the earth, she is reflecting less solar energy back to earth. The Black Moon is aptly named then, representing the darkest, bleakest, but potentially the most magical Moon phase. Black Moon, like Hekate the witch, is the threshold between worlds.

Dark Moon Subjects

Lunations. I write a Full and New moon report every two weeks which looks at the closest aspects to the Moon, it’s fixed stars and any important asteroids it is tightly conjunct with. I value comments about how the moon is effect oneself personally and discussion about any synchronicity with mundane events: 2012 Moon Phases, Full & New Moons.

Darkstars. Some of the fixed stars have a terrible reputation. These tend to be the most magical and occult stars that Christianity distrusted. I wanted to look into them deeper and see whether we have reason to fear them. What I found was just like Neptune and Pluto can do real damage from within a disturbed soul, then so can these powerful stars. They should be regarded as spiritual scalpels, which can kill, or cure: The demon Algol, the disgraceful Pleiades, the exiled 13th Sign Ophiuichus, the spellbinding Fomalhaut.

Pluto & Psychopaths. Pluto is the transiting version of a dark moon. It is Persephone’s decent into the underworld. This is when we can have breakdowns or suffer an episode of depression. Pluto transits can feel like hell on earth if we try to resist them. But they are ultimately the most empowering transit you can ever have in your life. Persephone eventually became Queen after all:  Psychopath Astrology, Madeleine McCann Abduction.

Serpent Wisdom & Witchery. Empowering women is Lilith’s mission. Lilith’s snake is about enlightenment through the Kundalini experience, but we mustn’t forget the serpent is also a universal symbol for wisdom. Occult means, “that which is hidden”, but it has been demonised. There is a lot of conspiracy and misinformation. I would like to remove the fear of occult knowledge: Lilith conjunct Jupiter 2012, Kundalini Awakening, Astrotheology & Mystery, Worshipped & Demonized.

Dark Goddess Planets: I have started to compile studies of the dark minor planets and asteroids: Ceres, Eris, Sedna, Persephone, Black Moon Lilith, Asteroid Lilith, Waldemath’s Dark Moon, Isis Atropos. In the pipeline; Asteroids Hekate, Medusa, Nemesis, Kali, Circe, Moira, Pandora.

The 8th House. I find this house fascinating. Where else would you find sex, death, obsession and the taboo? It is the underworld of the horoscope and corresponds to the autumn equinox, the season of Halloween and where the veils between the dimensions are thinnest. Of course I’m going to write about it, I have Mercury here natally. Mercury makes a couple of quincunxes to Saturn, but does a karmic quincunx actually cause accidents? I’ll give the dates, so we can do some observation. My theory is this could be when a wrong turn becomes the right turn, and our life changes course for the better. The retrograde may influence Scheat like a double negative. We must not forget there is a positive side to Scheat and that is it has potential for genius. The “troubles through writing”, may just be daring words and rebellion. I think the internet is a modern day vehicle for Scheat and the constellation of Pegasus as a whole, so Mercury here could be cyber fuelled protests. Scheat is far-out thinking and ideas ahead of their time, a very Uranian star. Mercury here may herald some great leaps in technological advancement. Hopefully this will benefit mankind rather than technology  used to control it. Artificial intelligence could also be Mercury on Scheat.

Mercury Retrograde Shadow Period

February 27 Mercury enters the shadow zone. On March 2 it makes its first conjunction to Scheat and we get a grand trine Neptune/Saturn/Moon. Mercury is square that Moon on the fixed star Betelgeuse. That will inflate and heat up matters. As this spot is going to get hit trice, I would pay attention to this day. Whatever happens here will have repercussions later on in the cycle. I also wouldn’t set sail around the Cape of Good Hope in a rickety old schooner on March 2, but crossing the English channel will be fine and you might even have that karmic encounter while sea-sicking your lunch up over the railings. Mercury will be quincunx Saturn this day.

March 5 however we get the potential for intuitive flashes and for those writers among us, the opportunity to plug directly into the collective consciousness. This day Mercury forms a conjunction with Uranus on the fixed star Deneb Kaitos on Cetus’s tail. “With Mercury: Active mind, writer or speaker upon subjects of public welfare, seeks to enact laws of benefit to the community, favorable for social affairs” Uranus will make the sea monster even more restless and volatile, but it’s great for effective, political speeches that move mountains for the common man.

Mercury Retrograde March 2012

On March 12 at 7.50am UT Mercury stations retrograde. Crowning the moment, a magical grand trine that I mentioned in the Mars retrograde post. This is a pretty stunning chart. I have already posted about the effects of Lilith conjunct Jupiter which is at one corner. Retrograde Mars on the fixed star Zosma is victim or saviour at the other corner trine Pluto on the fixed star Facies which is going to be extra ruthless or transformative depending on how you look at it. Grand trines can be surprisingly intert and stubborn. This one will use all its Mars/Jupiter/Pluto strength to dig its heels well into the ground. Maybe a protest? People refusing to budge? This could be very heroic, or with Mars on Zosma, quite extremist, like playing the martyr.

The Mercury retrograde chart is important chart because really it gives the flavour for the whole period including the shadow. I think even the most laid-back of villages will get some raw excitement, but it could be far too dangerous an energy for the worlds war zones. Hopefully, hopefully the effect of Mars being retrograde may just spiritualize the whole energy and that trine will not be as scary as it looks. Its just the combination of the three stars involved worry me. Even Jupiter on the fixed star Hamal isn’t great, it can be brutish and cruel. But Hamals more positive manifestation is that of a heroic maverick and adventurer. It might well save the day.

This Victim/Saviour trine lasts from March 12 -16 with the Moon conjuncting Pluto and Venus conjuncting Lilith at each corner on the last day. What this means for the world is anyone’s guess. But creatives should come out with some wonderful art and it will be a wonderfully romantic and sexy day for lovers.

Retrograde Mercury hits Scheat for the 2nd time on March 24. Mercury retrograde quincunx Saturn again so a repeat of March 2 and some karmic stuff to sort out. The Sun conjunct Uranus on Deneb Kaitos too so lots of slooshing in the whale degrees. This can bring mental disturbance….maybe paranoia while travelling. Try to keep grounded and if your imagination gets the better of you, try writing instead, you should get a hotline to the collective with this one.

March 29 we get a really interesting Boomerang Yod aspect pattern to Saturn comprising Mercury retrograde sextile Venus. Mummy Ceres at the reaction point opposite daddy Saturn. This Yod has a heroic Perseus theme since Venus is on the fixed star Capulus the sword that slayed Medusa while retrograde Mercury is on the fixed star Markab in the wing of Pegasus. Pegasus was born out of the blood from Medusa’s decapitated head.. Seem’s like a resurrection to me, the slaying of our personal demons. Mercury is our mindset. Venus, beautiful thoughts shed purifying light into the darkness. Ceres is food for thought? This exorcist of a yod lasts until April 1.

Mercury Stations Direct April 2012

Mercury stations direct on April 4 on Markab in Pegasus, reminding us of where we were on March 12. Mercury sits nicely here in the horses wing. Quick-witted, a clever mind, diplomatic and fantastic for writers. A good day for debating and should also be very productive with the quincunx to Saturn here not causing any trouble now that the ole devil is within a hairs breath of the lucky fixed star Arcturus. That previously suspicious retrograde Mercury quincunx Saturn can bend karma to a fortunate outcome. The winds of fate blow a warm breeze of relieve while retrograde Mars is preparing to get his mojo back.

But we are not quite finished with Scheat yet! Mercury falls on the visionary equine exact for the last time April 16, the day after the long awaited Mars goes direct. By now he must be chomping on the bit! Mercury leaps out of the whale’s mouth on April 19. Out of the shadow on April 23! We end the whole saga triumphantly with an interesting “Trawler” aspect pattern (Uranus/Mercury/Ceres/Mars/North-Node.) This pattern works like a vacuum cleaner, sucking up anyone that comes near. Hopefully polishing off any scum left off from the demon slaying. And now we are out of the shadow, refreshed, perky and spring-cleaned. Feel free to go make daisy chains!

The New Moon on 21 February 2012

Thank god then we have the female Spock goddess Pallas Athena conjunct the Moon and on Sadalmelik in the metaphysical water bearers shoulder. This new moon is a mash up of both Pisces and Aquarius archetypes. Uranus has even moved off volatile Scheat and onto Deneb Kaitos in the tail of the whale. It’s still another restless star though and has a self-sabotaging, self-destructive feel to it. Uranus is important to this moon also at 2º. Water in one hand then and electricity in the other.

February New Moon Aspects

The most important aspect to the moon is the conjunction to Neptune. This has problems with boundaries, but we will all be feeling a bit more at one with the universe. Those not used to merging and feeling like a psychic sponge, will feel super-sensitive to their environment. Those people could get quite reclusive since they will feel just too stimulated by everyday life.

We are still in the Mars retrograde, so anger is internalized anyway and there is an hint of depression. But I don’t see this as a negative, especially with need to be a hermit from Neptune. This gives us permission to be a little blue, wistful and self reflective. On such a sopping wet moon we can write poetry, play melancholic music and even revel in our misery. Sometimes it’s good to play the tragic heroine. But heroes are never tragic are they? I think Pallas Athena will have something to say about that …

Before you completely dissolve into a quivering mess of tissues, remember the transiting moons nodes are on the very important Antares/Alderbaran axis. Archangel stars no less. Antares loves a bit of drama, but if you spend too long sniveling, this scorpion will make no bones about slapping you back into shape. Pallas Athena is there to help too when your heart is slush. Our totally not tragic heroine will get you to write that logical and brutal list of pros and cons about that failing relationship or unsatisfactory job.

 This moon is liable to make you plant a few totally idealistic, “away-with-the-fairies” seeds, and yes you are allowed a couple. Who knows, this magical moon may even allow an orchid to grow in the snow. But whatever you do, don’t bank on it! A trine from sensible Saturn will stop you putting all your eggs in one basket.

One of the keywords that suits this Moon is temperance, the symbolism in the Temperance tarot card of pouring and measuring water is quite apt for this moon. It also reminds me somewhat of the imagery from Fomalhaut, see the lovely picture by J H Waterhouse in the Fomalhaut post. It is actually of Circe the sorceress, who like Pallas, turned a beautiful innocent girl into a monster out of anger and envy. Pallas and Circe certainly didn’t do things by half measures, but this is the very message of this moon. It is ok to cry a river, but not a tsunami. It’s ok to be logical captain, but not to become a robot. Temperance is not abstinence. For example, you might not need to give up the wine, just mix it with water!

We all know that water and electricity are a lethal combination and that’s really what we get with this moon. As we have seen with Fomalhaut, it is very fortunate and powerful, but only in the most elevated hands. Yet the electric eel manages to live with this paradox, generating up to six hundred volts in defense or hunting. With this moon then, the secret is to be the eel from the inside. Get inside and merge with your problem, try to empathize. Keep in mind that you are still separate however, like Jonah in the whale. The worst thing you could possible do is try to manipulate from the outside. For this new moon then, don’t wrestle with electric eels, merely gaze at the pond and write poetry to your loved one from afar.

Moon conjunct Uranus

Another manifestation of this is that the mother was more of a best friend than a nurturer, so that the child grows up too fast and sees or hears things that were far too adult for them. This can make them childhood prodigies or overly precocious. Some of them reclaim their lost childhood as adults, and are accused of living a fantasy existence. At least this naive fascination with life enables them to think anything is possible and they are often incredibly inventive, ingenious and imaginative. Moon conjunct Uranus can also describe a shock to the infant at a very vulnerable stage in their development, this can leave them feeling rather unhinged. These individuals come across as exciting, electric and quite chaotic unless they have more stabilizing factors in their chart. Both the Moon and Uranus are fluctuating and changeable, their emotions often change in a flash.

David’s upbringing was of such poverty that he was told to hide by his mother when the rent was due, except she never explained they were hiding from the landlord they owed money to and not the boogie man… Instead young David would cower under the bed not knowing why this strange man was knocking and peering menacingly through their windows. Icke says he still gets a shock (Uranus) if someone knocks at his front door (Moon). At school he was a loner, nervous and shy to the point he used to feel faint at assemblies. As a footballer and then sports reporter he had a period of conventionality, but that was only until his enlightening experience in 1991. After this episode he constaintly wore turquoise, allegedly said he was the son of god and then was publicly ridiculed for saying so on the Wogan show in front of millions of viewers. The eccentricities continue, he is famous worldwide for “out there” conspiracy theory and lizards.

So it too is evolving away from it’s bestial past.

It was Ptolemy who put Fomalhaut in its own constellation of the fish. The Southern fish is nothing to do with the Piscean fishes, although Fomalhaut is said to have an influence similar to Pisces. Confusing isn’t it?…This star is already slipping away from us. Fomalhaut has a very mixed influence in terms of how fortunate it is considered as a star. Rather like Neptune, it can be magical and highly spiritual or just a no good, unscrupulous drunk. All the royal stars have the capability for glory, honor, riches and fame, but they also have the greatest height to fall from. Their incredible power must be used wisely and with integrity.

With Fomalhaut on the AC and in good aspect, it is supposed to give one fame that lasts beyond the grave. Fomalhaut is also said to have the nature of Mercury and Venus, so art and writing are well starred. Out of the four Archangels, Fomalhaut is definitely the poetic artist, magician and most probably a pacifist. The others are all beastly warriors. As ever, this Venusian side to Fomalhaut that makes him a little suspect to a dog-eat-dog world, Robson says… “It is said to be very fortunate and powerful and yet to cause malevolence of sublime scope and character, and change from a material to a spiritual form of expression.” 1. Fomalhaut in Astrology

Fomalhaut is enchanted and intoxicated by love and life. This star governs the winter solstice, so like Jesus it contains the hope of being reborn. Fomalhaut has lofty ideals, the kind that believes love will conquer all. Often these people fall hopelessly in love with someone, but the road to them is strewn with trails and obstacles. Romeo probably had Venus on Fomalhaut. However if their hearts are pure then the impossible love is often won. This goes for their everyday life too, these misty-eyed dreamers are often not taken seriously. That is until they are found at  the top of their tree, still gazing wistfully into the clouds, much to the changrin of their contemporaries. These fishes seem to have got there as if by magic, indeed they probably have. I can see why their rivals may be a wee bit suspicious, “by what witchcraft did they get there?!”

For Fomalhaut though, selling it’s soul to the devil is precisely what it cannot do if they don’t want to end up incarcerated. These folk will topple right down into the gutter if they seek fame for their own personal glory. It must all be done for love of their craft and for the benefit of the greater good. Fomalhauts nemesis is hubris, if they have some sort of saviour complex then the immortal name that this star promises will more likely be that of infamy. I think it is interesting that TV Evangelist Jim Bakker has Fomalhaut just 2 mins off his AC and Guru Osho has it on his MC. Both had their halos torn off, Bakker by a sex scandal and Osho by various attempts to debunk him. Osho was constantly hounded by the US Police, (arrested for visa application fraud) and his teachings were rejected by his home country. Both these Gurus serve as great examples of Fomalhaut in action.

One of Fomalhauts traits is finding it hard to keep grounded in the physical world .They have a otherworldly, “away-with-the-fairies” demeanour and may find it so painful to be on this planet that the temptation is to take-off altogether with mind-altering substances or pain-relievers. Some of the celebrities below have had their problems with addiction. John Coltrane’s free-Jazz was spiritual and elevating,but to get their he battled with heroin addiction and alcoholism. In 1957 however, a religious experience was thought to have enabled him to get over his addictions and after his death he was actually worshipped as a deity in various churches in the US. The Full Moon on February 7 is at 18º Leo 31’, it’s closest aspect is an opposition to Mercury and it falls on the fixed star Merak in Ursa Major, the Great Bear. This star is said to bring a love of command and domination if the sign Leo is tenanted, well the Moon is in tropical Leo. Merak also gives one the power to move on in life. The theme of courage continues as the big brave seeds of the Eagle Altair were planted at the last New Moon. We get some signs of what is coming to a head from two weeks ago. All the stars in the bear exude a quiet strength, but raise hell when roused. The Moon aspects may give a clue to what is stirring in the pot. Domestic security is threatened and we know this bear gets pretty vengeful when some one messes with her cubs.

February Full Moon Aspects

Moon opposite Mercury is going to be touchy about family matters. Communications will be difficult because of the blurring of clear thinking with hang-ups that originate from childhood. There is also an internal battle between the logical mind and gut instinct. But the restlessness creates a very driven personality.The state of flux could feel like the tides washing in and out, purifying. But also a time when we will feel rather strung out so there might be the temptation to self-medicate! But do try to resist if you have to make an important decision. A clear head is needed.

As this is a full Moon, we also have Sun conjunct Mercury which can give an over active imagination and odd phobias. People are prone to seeing the bogie men of their childhood under this influence. Anyone taking hallucinogenics at this full moon is gonna see weird shit! Not least because retrograde Mars is on the fixed star Denebola, the lions pissed-off tail and Venus is on…well yes it’s…Scheat “Evil environment, suffering through own acts, danger of imprisonment or restraint”.

Full Moon on Asteroid Zelia

With the full Moon on asteroid Zelia, the paranoid atmosphere from this Moon could indeed bring amply ones worst fears and bring on a psychosomatic attack of the goolies. Zelia is the feminine form of Zelus which “personifies dedication, emulation, eager rivalry, envy, jealousy, and zeal.” Could these goolies then merely be an attack of the green-eyed monster? As we have seen from the aspects, childhood insecurities are clouding rational judgement. The mood is ripe for a crime of passion here. However there is a saviour of a trine between Saturn and Neptune which may help some discern what is real (Saturn) and what is fantasy (Neptune)

This could be a bitch of a Moon for those in its line of fire (18º fixed signs). Mercury’s involvement means some salacious gossip and a media love scandal. I say this because once you stick hellraiser/come seductress Eris in there you also get a repeat quincunx from Mars retrograde. The very same aspect as from the Full Moon of January 9. I wrote “Mars was on the cranky lions tail Denebola, just before the Full Moon – Thaw! This moon also talked about victimization, since we had a grand trine to Sedna. Mars was also revving up Eris too. You will not see the last of the skeletons let out of the closest on this day, they come back to haunt you around the 1st week of February (This Full Moon) and are resolved between June 16-18.” Have a look back at what was happening in your life on January 8/9 to get an understanding of this strange Mars/Eris/Sedna energy.

Full Moon Yod

This revisited quincunx gives us a rather rampant Yod with the Sun/Mercury conjunction sextile Eris, both quincunxing the Mars retrograde. Those who actually have anything at 21º Virgo need to be vigilant. Mars here is vindictive and cruel. If scandal should arise then this star causes public disgrace! It could be something as trite as a spurned lover taking revenge with a kiss and tell or more seriously according to the Ebertins Denebola’s volatility can also cause major catastrophes. Mars was at 22º Virgo opposite the Vertex when the Costa Concordia crashed on January 13. So keep safe people and stay away from trouble. The bitter edge to this moon presses on all our insecurities. Light candles and pray quietly, but do not stoke the fire. Avoid getting caught in habitual karmic cycles of playing the victim. Sometimes the bravest thing is to walk away.

Decan 1 Pisces March 2012 

Pisces Decan 1 has the fortunate Venus sextile from March 5 to 15. This Venus transit makes you feel more affectionate and loving, and you can expect more admiration and attention from others. It can also improve your financial conditions, and this is even more likely now because up until March 15 you also have the lucky Jupiter trine Sun transit. So Venus and Jupiter are together in the sky making this aspect of good fortune to your decan. Lady luck is on your side with both money and love. This is an excellent time to take full advantage of any opportunities, investing should turn out well, and any new relationships made now should be very very loving. Things get a little tougher from March 13 with an opposition from Mars retrograde. Because it’s moving so slow, Mars will be causing you some frustration and anger right through till mid May. The retrograde motion means that the buildup of anger or resentment you feel is likely to be internalized, so it will be important to work this energy out of your system through physical activity or focusing on some work or hobby which you are really passionate about. There may be more opposition to your goals and plans during this phase, especially from dominant men.

Decan 2 Pisces March 2012 

Pisces Decan 2 still has a bit more to go through of the Mars retrograde opposition which started mid February. This frustrating influence will last through to March 13. Mars can bring out opposition from other people as they sense the unbalanced or angry energy in you. You have to choose your battles carefully at the moment and try to tone down any aggressiveness. You do need to express this hot energy which is best done through physical activity. The March 8 Full Moon is in your decan. A Full Moon around your birthday means that your emotions and close personal relationships are in focus for the next two weeks.

From March 8 to 13 you still have Mars retrograde hassling you, so you could be a lot more touchy and prone to temper tantrums. Try to be mindful of this tendency so you don’t hurt the people you care about. Once that Mars transit it out the road, the Full Moon influence turns much nicer because of a Venus sextile from March 15 to 24. This is a great combination for love, you will be much more affectionate and feeling mushy. Others will be really drawn to your loving and balanced mood, so you can expect to win admiration and lots more affection. This Venus influence is boosted because Jupiter is with Venus in the sky. As mentioned in the Pisces 2012 Horoscope, this is a very fortunate influence which starts on March 15 and goes through till the end of April. This is an extremely lucky time, very promising for growth and happiness in love and with your finances. Decan 3 Pisces March 2012 

Pisces Decan 3 gets a break from the action until later this month, when you get two transits together. The stronger influence comes from Mercury Retrograde in your decan from March 23 to April 14. This stimulates your brain and brings a lot of activity, more interactions and more information coming in. Even though the retrograde motion can mean things get a bit confused or rushed, this period should work out very well because you also have the harmonious sextile for Venus between March 24 to April 2. Decan 1 Aquarius March 2012 

Aquarius Decan 1 has a sextile from Mercury Retrograde from March 2 to 23. This is very helpful giving clear and logical thinking and good communication skills. Mercury is with Uranus in the sky so you also have the sextile from Uranus as mentioned in the Aquarius 2012 Horoscope. Mercury is activating this very positive longer term transit giving you great opportunities to expand your horizons. You should have excellent intuition and flashes of insight about this promising future. Dreams could be more vivid and as Mercury is retrograde, you could gain some interesting insights from the past which help in your self awareness.

Interactions with others should be generally fine but with the retrograde motion, there may be a few difficulties especially from March 5 to 15 when you get a difficult square aspect from Venus. This will tend to put some strain on your close relationships. I would be particularly mindful of other peoples feelings for a few days when Mercury stations retrograde, on March 12. Also during these days, be extra careful about making important decisions or signing contracts. Decan 2 Aquarius March 2012 

Aquarius Decan 2 has a Venus square from March 15 to 24. This means you should take more care with money and overindulging. In relationship you may ask to much of others without giving so much in return. This transit is normally not a strong one but this time around it is exacerbated because on March 16, Jupiter starts squaring your decan which was mentioned in the Aquarius 2012 Horoscope. So Venus and Jupiter are together in the sky making this stressful square aspect to your decan. This is a sign that you will be feeling overly optimistic and carefree. Over spending, gambling, and going to excess with food or drugs, are all things you should be careful about for this period, March 15 to 24. Your need for pleasure and more affection will be very strong, but again, care will be needed not to lower your standards and fall for the wrong sort of person. Aquarius Decan 3 still has the Venus sextile which started on February 25 and lasts through to March 5. There should be more chances now of making some extra money and it’s a good time to ask for favors. Spending money of things of beauty, decorating the home, or lashing out on fashion or jewelry should be a good investment. Socializing is favored because you should be feeling and looking your best, people will appreciate your warm and friendly energy so you can expect good reactions. So if you want to get out and party, or go on a shopping spree, do it early this month. From March 24 through to April 4, Venus makes the more challenging square aspect to your decan which mean it’s time to hold onto your money and be a bit more conservative when it comes to spreading the love. You will still feel like smooching and all, but won’t be feeling so outgoing as earlier in the month.
