Why the Rich are Rich

2012-02-29T17:37:00.001-05:00

Ever wonder why rich people are rich and poor people are poor? It all has to do with their mindset! Here are 17 differences between the rich and poor's mindset.

Rich people believe: “I create my life.” Poor people believe: “Life happens to me.” - Rich people don't blame others for their mistakes. The only reason why that idea didn't work was because of me not the economy. Poor people blame their troubles on the economy or their boss.
Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose. - the rich take more risk so they get more reward. Poor people look for security and are reluctant to make big risks so their reward is not as great
Rich people are committed to being rich. Poor people want to be rich. - Rich people take the necessary actions to become rich and stay rich. The poor only dream about rich but do nothing about it or give up to easily.
Rich people think big. Poor people think small.
Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focus on obstacles. - The rich see the bright side of a problem the poor see the bad.
Rich people admire other rich and successful people. Poor people resent rich and successful people. - You know this is true
Rich people associate with positive, successful people. Poor people associate with negative or unsuccessful people. - True again. If you want to be a mechanic you hang out with mechanics. If you want to be rich you hang out with rich people
Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their value. Poor people think negatively about selling and promotion.
Rich people are bigger than their problems. Poor people are smaller than their problems.
Rich people are excellent receivers. Poor people are poor receivers. - Rich people listen to new ideas and like to learn. Poor people think learning has ended with high school.
Rich people choose to get paid based on results. Poor people choose to get paid based on time.
Rich people think “both”. Poor people think “either/or”.
Rich people focus on their net worth. Poor people focus on their working income.
Rich people manage their money well. Poor people mismanage their money well.
Rich people have their money work hard for them. Poor people work hard for their money.
Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.
Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know.

STOP SOPA

2011-12-26T19:52:00.000-05:00

Why must the RIAA and MPAA censor our internet just because it hurts their business model? Why don't the record companies and Hollywood change their business model and find a way to make money of piracy? Almost all of Google's products and services are free, yet they rake in profits by the truck load. It's like the CEO's are ancient dinosaurs that think we still live in the 1800's. If it were up to them we wouldn't have DVD/BLU-ray players or blank CD/DVD's hell even VCR's would have been outlawed, all because it does not conform to their business model. If it were up to Hollywood and anti-piracy groups we would be living like China or Iran with CENSORSHIP EVERYWHERE. And now they want to create an internet censorship button? SOPA is that button. It will allow companies to shutdown websites that link or contain pirated material. The thing is, under the current bill piracy is a very broad term. Take for example the Megaupload song that was uploaded a few weeks back, within 24 it was taken down by youtube because UMG put in a request. UMG states that it has a "special" agreement with youtube that supersedes the DMCA, yeah right. They also said that the video was copy righted even though MegaUpload specifically signed contracts with the artists in the video. This is just messed up, and if SOPA Passes you can bet we are going to see a lot more of this stupidity. So do your part and STOP SOPA.

Monetize a Blog or Website

2011-12-23T12:46:00.000-05:00

A nice way to get some extra cash flow is by monetizing your blog or website, first of all we need to understand what monetization is. Monetization is the process of converting or establishing something into legal tender, aka, money. There are a bunch of ways of doing this, from advertising to promoting, to referrals to selling a product. The best way to maximize profits is to do all of them.

*Before we continue I would like to say that there isn't any easy way to make a ton of money online but it is possible.

Ads

Say you love dogs, and you have a blog about dogs. Why not sign up for google adsense or any other advertising company and put some ads in-between posts? If you have pictures why not host them on a site that pays per click such as ImageTwist as well. Now you are making money from ads and pictures. One last way to use ads is use a URL shortner that pays such as adf.ly. You put the shortened link in your posts and when someone clicks it they see an ad before going to the destination. Now you are making money from ads in your blog, pictures in your blog and links in your blog.

Referrals

Another great way to monetize is to refer users to a site or company that sells a product. Every time they make a sale you get a commission. Just partner up with a site that caters to you niche. Take the example from before of the dog blog. Partner up with say a company that sells dog toys and write about the company in your blog but at the end include a link to the site or link to a specific product and anytime that product or products get sold you get a commission for referring people there. A good site to look at is clickbank because they partner you up with other company's that you choose.

Promoting

Promoting is similar to referring in that you get a commission from a company that sells a product or service. This usually requires that your site gets a good number of visits and you have a community built up already. Once that is in place ask companies if they are willing to let you promote or review a product of theirs. If they say yes all you do is write about it and, well, just promote it!

Selling a product

This last way might be the hardest or easiest. Essentially what you want to do is create a product or service that people pay for. Then advertise it on a blog or website. Say you just invented this new brush that grooms dogs and doesn't leave a mess. Why not set up a site or blog and advertise it on the internet. Instead of making money on the blog or website you make your money of selling your product or service.

In the end this still takes hard work and dedication if you want it to be your sole source for income. If you just want some extra cash this is definitely a good start.

Here are the links to some sites mentioned in the post:

Google Adsense
ImageTwist
Adfly
Clickbank
