It just fits on the bed rollers. I think it will wonder side to side when I’m pulling a print, so I may have to build some guides.

Not sure how well it will hold up, especially when I start doing prints that require higher pressure like etchings. Still for the cost if it lasts a year I will be happy.

Frame and bed guides assembled on my Wright Combination press.

When the press was originally disassembled 25 years ago by the original owner, instead of properly removing the motor wiring they just cut the wire. They cut it in the worst place too.

I had thought of rewire the entire press but instead decided to splice the cut with some 12 gauge electrical wire. It isn’t pretty but it functions now.

Now to figure out the size and material of the press bed.

All the other bolts to fasten the bed guides and motor are missing, so off to the hardware store.

Next step is to bolt everything together.

What I need to do now is build a base for it and cut a piece of plywood for the press bed.

Wright Combination Press – Disassembled

Last weekend I bought myself a slightly used, slightly disassembled Wright Combination press.
It is in good shape but missing the scrapper bar for lithography. If I can’t find a replacement part I’ll have to make one. I don’t think this will be a problem and my first priority is to clear room to set the thing up.

Always Document Your Work

I was looking for paper to do some monoprints, I opened up one of my sketchbooks and there I found this print. The problem of course is that I have no recollection of creating it – yet  I know I did. I didn’t date it, title it or sign it. Bad practice, very unprofessional.
