Hi all, br / br / I need an urgent help. I am trying to build a dashboard widget which tries to initiate a ssl ajax request to a backend server for retriving a json response. while i test the same in dashcode , in run logs i am able to see the note andquot;continuiningandquot; and nothing else and it keeps on going on. However wen i changed the https url to http version of url it works fine br / br / Can anyone suggest me do i need to do something else or need to enable something br / br / ?

I'm trying to make one myself and it's not going well. br / br / I'm looking for something like an attendance ticker. When I click a button, a value in a number field to increase by 1. And each time I open the widget, it needs to recall the last number. br / br / I think I have the javascript, but I can't get it to work with the interface. br / br / Can anyone help me with this? I feel like it would be easy if I knew what I was doing.....

It's straightforward, but requires a bit of code. Basic idea is to use setInterval() to tick through some src attributes for your andlt;imgandgt; element. There are also functions for this kind of thing in libraries such as jQuery, which will reduce the amount of code you need to write; but for a single use it's probably not worth it. br / br / You could adapt this to use the pngs as background images for a andlt;divandgt;, or use an image map, or whatever. That is a really cool widget but I'd rather just have a real lava lamp sitting next to my computer. You just can't beat their slow, soothing motions and no matter how you try to emulate it with software, it'll never look as good as a real one. Then again, I may just be a lava lamp freak. Hello all, br / br / just thought I'd share the new (not quite ready) ByteCalc-version with you (in case somebody's still interested...). br / br / There are some new things and one of those isn't completed yet. Though the basic functionality should work... br / br / ul br / li There is no Inputfield and no popup anymore. Just enter your number in one of the fields and hit enter. The widget will use the first value (going from top to bottom) that is not andquot;0andquot; and will calculate all the other values from that. br / li The input/output-fields are real html-textfields now and therefore cut/copy/paste can be used as usual. Additionally, the '-sign is removed from the value that is copied to the clipboard. br / li There is a new andquot;GUIandquot;-tab on the back, but this is the function that isn't complete nor convenient to use right now. The final outcome should be that the user can change the look of the widgets behaviour (in terms of different colours for the individual elements). While one can already change them (via chosing andquot;Userdefinedandquot; from the popup and then clicking on one of the strings below), these settings are not saved for now, as I am still investigating some technical things to fully implement that function). Interesting. Doesn't work for me, either, so I think that's that. My memory was incorrect. br / br / You'll either have to fake it Dashcode makes it easy to use resizable rounded-rectangle shapes, or you can design in Photoshop or put up with inferior appearance on Tiger. Latest statistics show around 30% of web-using Mac owners still have Tiger.

Seeing as Dashboard uses whatever version of WebKit you have installed, just like Safari, I'm very surprised to hear it works in one and not the other. To the best of my knowledge, -webkit-border-radius should work fine under Tiger, with recent Safari versions. Which leads me to wonder if you're actually suffering from the cached widget bug; it might be worth rebooting. br / br / If you can't get it working, maybe consider whether it's vital that this element has rounded corners in Tiger anyway. It may not matter if it's different for some users. br / br / I still have one Tiger machine running, if you'd like someone else to test it for you.

I'm developing a widget for both leopard and tiger dashboards. I'm using Dashcode. I noticed that using a CSS with webkit like andquot;-webkit-border-top-left-radius: 12px 12px;andquot; doesn't work in tiger dashboard. I already updated safari to the most recent version (where the widget works fine) but it remains not working in dashboard area, i.e., the div remains a perfect rectangular shape without round corners. How can I solve this problem ? Do I have to update something else related with tiger' dashboard ?? br / br / Thanks!

It sounds like the setup function for your button is getting called twice; perhaps Dashcode is confused (if you've added the buttons using the GUI), or you're repeating yourself somewhere (if you're calling the button function yourself).

I just ported one of my Vista gadgets to Dashboard. It's my first attempt to write a Dashboard widget and I'm using the Dashcode application. I added the Info button on the front and the Done button on the back. When I run the gadget in Dashcode everything is fine. However, when I deply it to the Dashboard, the Done button on the back is being displayed twice, one above the other. Only one button accepts events. br / br / Has anyone else seen this behavior and perhaps can hint at a solution?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no andquot;url objectandquot; in standard javascript. Smells like a proprietary extension (of which there are a hell of a lot in Yahoo Widgets Engine, ne Konfabulator) to me. What are you trying to do?

Sounds like you're looking for a Safari WebClip! I don't know if there's any way that these can be made distributable, though perhaps by modifying the webclip widget itself? br / br / I'm not sure that there's a straightforward way to do this, though; in many ways, widgets are more like apps than webviews. You could look into making your own widget plugin in cocoa which displays a webview; alternatively maybe intercept links in the widget's content using javascript, then load the linked page using xmlhttprequest and substitute it. br / br / I may be overlooking a simple solution here, but I'm not aware of a completely straightforward way to do this.

We're currently looking for someone who can develop a very simple widget for us. br / br / We need a widget to query a url every two minutes and parse the XML output of that url sending the notifications via growl. br / br / It's a widget that will just run in the background and will have no frontend / configuration. br / br / Once it retrieves the xml output from the url it parses the XML and sends specific alerts via growl.
