I’d like to share the 9 steps you will want to follow to forum marketing success; this is basically a primer on indirect forum marketing (the only approach I fully endorse).

Find a forum in the niche you want to market to
Check to be sure the site allows you to create a forum signature with a link to your business
Set up an account
Create a forum signature that includes the following information: your name, website/business name, web address, contact info (if any), description of the website/business (DO NOT USE A SALES PITCH – e.g. The Best Car Parts Shop Around – that stuff is useless). Be descriptive!
Find the forum introductions section (most good forums will have one) and tell people about yourself. Talk about your business, but don’t just drop a sales pitch. Let people know what your interests are in the topic beyond your business.
PARTICIPATE! Become an active member of the forums. Help others on the site. Get involved in the debate. POST, POST, POST! In time, the members will see you as an expert in the topic. With more posts, your site/business will have more exposure, and you will see results.
If the forum has an area for members to advertise in, use it. (if not, don’t post ads on the site; just use your forum signature and your knowledge to do the selling for you)
Volunteer to become a moderator on the site (forum administrators will often be willing to trade advertising for good moderators). In addition to the opportunity of getting more exposure, moderators are typically given more respect and looked at with even more authority then other members. With this comes more clicks and more business!

Find other forums in the same area of interest and repeat steps 1-8.

Mr. Lucky Uduikhue is The Chief Executive Of Data-Point Microsystems Limited. He is also the publisher of Contact Sports Newspapers and The Executive Director of other establishments.

His exploit as a young Nigerian has distinguished him from his peers. He studied Computer Science at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2002. While in school, he was busy nurturing his training outfit –Data –Point Computer Institute In Lagos.

On graduation in 2002, Lucky did not wait to suffer the pains of being in the Nigerian labor market, what many graduates go through. Rather, he focused on his computer training mandate, which has today expanded to four branches after seven years.

Today, the difference is clear, as my four computer training outfits have trained thousands of youths and afforded job opportunities to graduates. More than 35 workers are under my payroll. Not only that, I am grateful to God that he provided means for me to survive, without waiting for a paid job”.

Aside Uduikhue’s contributions in the computer literacy of the youths, his keen interest in sport made him to invest in the sports newspaper of national standard called contact sport. The newspaper is presently making waves in proper dissemination of sports news and information.

I am also into Newspaper Publication. I own the Contact Sport Newspaper, a Lagos based media outfit, which is today a name in sport reportage across the country and beyond.

My aim of establishing the sport newspaper is to give sport lovers a voice and medium of awareness, encourage the young generation to sports.

We have local pages in the newspaper to encourage our readers at the grassroots and give them a sense of belonging, as well as making local club more attractive, like others outside the country.

I do not see our people supporting local football league in Nigeria instead, they fancy and promote European leagues. Therefore, contact sports newspaper is working towards changing the mindset of Nigerians towards supporting local sporting activities.

Uduikhue also observe that sports newspapers in Nigeria sell like any other good products in the marker due to the need for information and entertainment. He notes that an uninformed society remains undeveloped.

He also revealed that the challenges he faced in school forced him into entrepreneurship. Due to his zeal to create more jobs for the youths, Uduikhue expanded his business to include consultancy, advertising, telecommunication. etc. his words for the Nigeria youths is not to depend on paid jobs , but try to be self employed in other to reduce the spate of unemployment in Nigeria.

If you’ve been involved in Internet business for several years, you’ve probably seen your fair share of firesales. Some companies do it before going out of business; while others do it as a part of their normal sales cycle.

If you’re in a bind and need some cash fast, then holding a firesale is probably one of your best options. Of course, if it were easy or obvious how to do this, then everyone would do it successfully; and there would be no need for a guide such as this one. But this isn’t the case. Here’s what I personally suggest you do to ensure that your firesale is successful:

Step #1: Pick a Demographic Before You Start

Before you even begin, it’s a good idea to pick a demographic to sell to. If you don’t know who your target audience is before you get started, then it will be impossible for you to select the right things to sell to them; and it will also be impossible for you to pitch to them in a relatable way.

Step #2: Develop a Truly Attractive Firesale Package

If you currently have a large product line, then this stage shouldn’t be terribly challenging for you. All you’ll have to do is select a handful of your products, bundle them together, and then sell them for a fraction of the normal cost.

On the other hand, if you don’t have your own product line, then this part could be a little more challenging. You’ll have to actively seek out products that offer some type of resale license, bundle them together, and then sell them at a tiny fraction of the normal combined price.

Step #3: Compute the Savings

Once you’ve assembled a large package of goods and have selected the firesale price, spend some time to determine how much it would cost an individual buyer to assemble all of these products (with normal—not resale—licenses). You can then present this figure repeatedly in all of your advertisements.

Step #4: Pitch Your Firesale

Again, if you have your own product line, website, and autoresponder list, then this step will be relatively easier. In this case, you should start by pitching your firesale to your existing customers. As an added incentive, you might offer to make it even cheaper for people on your email list.

A good place to start is by creating a sales page for your firesale. Be careful to detail exactly how much buyers will save, so that they understand exactly how good the deal is. Also, include full descriptions of every product they will have access to after buying.

Again, the idea is to avoid something that appears too overtly salesy. Instead, you want to pitch it casually as an opportunity, but with a time limit and an associated sense of urgency.

On the other hand, if you don’t already have a list and a line of products of your own, it’s still a good idea to start by creating a sales letter; however, your approach here should probably be different.

One good way to create a firesale sales letter for products that are not your own is to setup countdown clock on the page; and then incrementally add the items that will be part of your sale over time. For instance, on day one, you could add three pieces of software that will be included in the firesale to the page. On day two, you could add a bundle of 200 ghostwritten articles that will be included. And so on.

The goal of this exercise should be to get people in the habit of returning to your site daily, so that your firesale successfully builds anticipation until the final night, when your sale will begin. By this time, if you did a good job, hundreds of people will have seen your sale; and will be ready to buy.

As far as the actual promotional process goes, you have several options if you don’t already have a mailing list:

Adwords. Since your goal is to raise money fast and since the firesale will only be available for a limited window of time, Adwords is probably one of your best options when it comes to marketing. Remember to use multiple campaigns, to carefully write your text ads, and to limit each campaign to narrowly-focused set of keywords and key phrases.

Joint Ventures. Find other business owners who have large, active lists.

Offer them a very high commission if they participate (i.e. on the other of 50% or 75% of each sale). This will not only help you from the sales that they bring in directly, but it will help you indirectly by raising your status by association.

Post on Forums. While most forums will prohibit you from directly marketing your products through a thread, most will allow you to include a signature that markets your products. You can do this in all large, relevant forums that you frequent; and when you do, make sure that you include the date of the firesale in your signature, so that forum members gain a sense of urgency.

Summary

A firesale can be one of the easiest ways to make money fast online; however, if you don’t manage it correctly, you could find yourself spending hundreds of dollars on products without any real return to speak of.

Ideas Rule the World-The Coca Cola Example

Why would I want to write on a topic that says: "Ideas rule the world"?

Well, that would be because everything you see and touch was once an invisible idea in someone else's mind until it was brought into being. Like a dream, an idea sprouts up in the mind, flies around in our brains till its used or naturally fades out. The uniqueness and power that set apart any successful businesses or individual, starts with the kind of ideas they come up with (usually influenced by their state of mind, environment and situations).

There are several instances in history where great ideas were born and have made success. I would like us all to look into the origin of the world famous Coca Cola:

Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink sold in almost all the countries of the world. Coca-Cola is manufactured by "The Coca-Cola Company" and is often referred to as Coke. Coke is one of the most recognizable brands in the world, yet, not too many of us can tell the story of how it started.

THE COCA-COLA IDEA

In May, 1886, Coca Cola was invented by Doctor John Pemberton a pharmacist from Atlanta, Georgia. John Pemberton concocted the Coca Cola formula in a three legged brass kettle in his backyard. The name was a suggestion given by John Pemberton's bookkeeper Frank Robinson.

Being a bookkeeper, Frank Robinson also had excellent penmanship. It was he who first scripted "Coca Cola" into the flowing letters which has become the famous logo of today.

The soft drink was first sold to the public at the soda fountain in Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta on May 8, 1886.

About nine servings of the soft drink were sold each day. Sales for that first year added up to a total of about $50. The funny thing was that it cost John Pemberton over $70 in expenses, so the first year of sales were a loss.

"Hmm, it could be risky! Isn't it?"Well, proceed...

Until 1905, the soft drink, marketed as a tonic, contained extracts of cocaine as well as the caffeine-rich kola nut.

"But surprisingly what happened?" A man built a business around the idea...

In 1887, another Atlanta pharmacist and businessman, Asa Candler bought the formula for Coca Cola from inventor John Pemberton for $2,300. By the late 1890s, Coca Cola was one of America's most popular fountain drinks, largely due to Candler's aggressive marketing of the product. With Asa Candler, now at the helm, the Coca Cola Company increased syrup sales by over 4000% between 1890 and 1900.

Advertising was an important factor in John Pemberton and Asa Candler's success and by the turn of the century, the drink was sold across the United States and Canada. Around the same time, the company began selling syrup to independent bottling companies licensed to sell the drink. Even today, the US soft drink industry is organized on this principle.

Until the 1960s, both small town and big city dwellers enjoyed carbonated beverages at the local soda fountain or ice cream saloon. Often housed in the drug store, the soda fountain counter served as a meeting place for people of all ages. Often combined with lunch counters, the soda fountain declined in popularity as commercial ice cream, bottled soft drinks, and fast food restaurants became popular.

"But the idea did not end there!" Because...

On April 23, 1985, the "New Coke" formula was released. Today, products of the Coca Cola Company are consumed at the rate of more than one billion drinks per day.

In Peru, but it was purchased by the Coca-Cola Company Inca Kola in 1999. In India Coca-Cola bought Thums-Up, a local drink, which had more sales than Coke.

Coca-Cola has been an Olympic sponsor since 1928, when it was the first-ever sponsor of the Olympic Games. Coca-Cola also sponsored the Summer Olympics held at Atlanta in 1996. From 1978, Coca-Cola has sponsored every FIFA World Cup and other competitions organized by FIFA.Coca-Cola is still sponsoring this year's Beijing Olympics.

It is not enough to have an idea, but it is a good start. Like I mentioned in the previous post, "To create a business, you need to come up with an idea". Then,you have to build a business around your idea;and once you're in business, you need more ideas for design,engineering, capacity building, marketing, creative problem solving, customer retention, etc.

Day in day out, you would need to think and generate new creative ideas to sustain the existing ideas.

In the information age,the accelerated pace of change and current ease of new entrants to new markets due to technological advances leaves no time to be sluggish in generating and nurturing ideas. The success or failure of a business depends on just one idea as well as the timing of the idea.

Most companies are not short on new ideas, but they are short on ways to assess, prioritize, and execute those new ideas. For example, IBM existed when Dell took advantage of the Internet and started online computer sales.

Dell Computers had "an idea" IBM lacked and developing that single idea at that time, made Dell money and a strong brand name. Dell's idea was to produce and sell Computer Systems based on Customers' requirements and specifications. Ideas don't just bring you out of your shell; they possess the power to creatively stand you out.

New ideas are also born by combining/modifying existing ideas to form an invention (e.g. "car" and "kitchen," = "mobile restaurant,"). Firms must enthusiastically welcome new ideas and suggestions. If an idea is given proper attention, it may become the hero in town, the next great marketing campaign, or even the perfect incubator for your next innovative product or service.
