As a free content website DaTutorials.com is depending on the ads income for maintaining and development. Since the start we are using Google Adsense for displaying text-based ads of websites relevant to the content of the page, where the AdSense ad was displayed.

We are fine with AdSense, but recently a new PPC program was introduced to the Ad marked: WidgetBucks.com (aff).

I’ve decided to check it out (OK, I’m a very curious when earning money is involved ).

So, I’ve signed up for account on WidgetBucks.com. The registration was easy and not only basic information was required, like name, email, website, and preferred payment type - Check or PayPal options were available. Also, upon signup, there is a $25 bonus added to the account I’ve already fall in love with WidgetBucks.com - my kind of PPC program

OK, seriously, you get a free $25 bonus and you can withdraw you funds as soon as you reach $50. Very cool, but there is a little catch - you can withdraw 45 days after the date you reached the $50 level in your account. Fine with me, no problem waiting for the funds a month and a half.

So far, so good! You can choose from various ad formats - 160×600, 120×600, 300×250, 728×90, 468×60, 160×300, 660×330. You can also choose a color for the ad which will fit your website color scheme. The ad design is very cute and eye-catching. Check it at the right side of this blog or at the bottom of each blog post.

There s also a plenty of categories for the ads or if you prefer you can set the ads to be auto-selected by a WidgetBucks module called MerchSense (MerchSense Demo).

OK, enough of the general stuff. Let’s get to the more interesting aspect of WidgetBucks program - the price of a click. Well, so far we are very happy with the program, the lowest click price we have is $0.28 and the highest $0.56 and not a single click for $0.01 like we have from … “you-know-who” Not bad for a PPC program

The only cons is that the payment process is still to be tested. Meanwhile I’ll keep you updated about how things are going on with our new ad program from WidgetBucks.

You can also sign up for an account and give it a try. We’ll be very happy to hear a feedback from other website owners.

This is the final 1.0 version of the AJAX framework, formerly known as Atlas, that Microsoft has developed for using with ASP.NET.

For those of you unfamiliar with ASP.NET AJAX project, here is a brief explanation, made by Scott Guthrie, the main architect of ASP.NET and a dozen of other technologies delivered by Microsoft:

ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 delivers a rich client-side AJAX library that provides cross platform, cross browser support for a core JavaScript type-system, JSON-based network serialization stack, JavaScript component/control model, as well as common client JavaScript helper classes. ASP.NET AJAX also delivers a rich server-side library that integrates AJAX functionality within ASP.NET, and enables developers to easily AJAX-enable existing ASP.NET 2.0 sites with minimal effort.

ASP.NET AJAX is available for free, and can be used with ASP.NET 2.0 and VS 2005. It is a fully supported Microsoft product, and is backed by a standard 10 year Microsoft support license (with Microsoft Product Support available via phone 24 hours a day x 7 days a week).

And this is not all! In addition Microsoft has released a toolkit of over 30 free ASP.NET AJAX enabled controls under the name ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit. Check out a live examples published here.

All this is delivered for free from Microsoft! Here are the links for downloading:

ASP.NET AJAX Extensions 1.0
ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit

And this is the official ASP.NET AJAX website: link

A new update from DaTutorials HQ We moved to a new web host to get more web space, more bandwidth and better support.

Our previous hosting company was Layered Technologies. A good hosting service but very basic support and almost 100% self-managed. And the price was way too high for a non-commercial website like DaTutorials.

Our new host is LunarPages. I bet most of you have heard of it as they have a very good reputation at WebHostingTalk - the biggest web hosting related community. We’ve also signed for the affiliate program of LunarPages which is a good deal and we hope to get some additional income from it and use it to further develop DaTutorials.

On my side the web site is loading prety fast, no complaints by me However I would like to hear some comments from you guys, is it fast on your side too?

Oooops, it also seems that this is my first post this year, sooo … HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU
