(FOX NEWS)--An anonymous group has exploited a security loophole in the social networking site Facebook by 'hijacking' hundreds of groups.
Wildly popular social networking site Facebook faces a privacy lawsuit from a Texas woman.
Taking control of the Facebook groups allows them to change the name of the group, bombard members with messages and edit details. The 'hijackers,' who call themselves Control Your Info, insist they will not misuse the data; they want only to raise awareness of the dangers.
The group has discovered that if the administrator of a Facebook group leaves, any user can appoint themselves as a replacement. Hundreds of groups have been affected, all receiving the same warning: "Hello, we hereby announce that we have officially hijacked your Facebook group.
"This means we control a certain part of the information about you on Facebook. If we wanted we could make you appear in a bad way which could damage your image severly (sic).
"For example we could rename your group and call it something very inappropriate and nasty, like 'I support paedophile's rights'. But have no fear we won't."
The renegade group's Web site claims the security side of social media has been "more or less neglected." Control Your Info has posted a YouTube video which warns that gaffes made in real life can be repaired, but "your online mistakes will be there forever."
Facebook said in a statement: "There has been no hacking and there is no confidential information at risk. The groups in question have been abandoned by their previous owners, which means any group member has the option to make themselves an administrator in order to continue communication to the group.
"Group administrators have no access to confidential information and group members can leave a group at any time. For small groups, administrators can simply edit a group name or info, moderate discussion, and message group members.
"The names of large groups cannot be changed nor can anyone message all members. In the rare instances when we find that a group has been changed inappropriately, we will disable the group, which is the action we plan for these groups."

(FOX NEWS)--A man opened fire with a rifle Tuesday at a drug-testing laboratory outside the Northwestern coastal city of Portland, killing one woman and wounding two other people before fatally shooting himself, police said.

The shooter and the female victim were not immediately identified.
The Tigard-Tualatin School District was in lockdown following the shooting at Legacy MetroLab, which was reported at 11:48 a.m. local time.
"There were people running all over the place when the officers first responded," Tualatin Police Chief Kent Barker. "It was pretty chaotic at first."
One of the wounded was taken to Emanual Hospital, while the other was flown to Oregon Health & Science University hospital in Portland, police said. Their conditions were not available.
Witnesses said a woman in a bloodied lab coat ran into a nearby Subway sandwich shop after the shooting.
Alina Kurtavenao, who works at the Subway, said the woman had blood on a leg and on her forehead.
"She wasn't crying, she wasn't scared. I think she was in shock," she said.
Other businesses in the area include a framing store, a bank and a locksmith. The office mall was evacuated when police arrived.
Legacy MetroLab conducts drug and alcohol testing for employers and others, according to company spokeswoman Kathleen Gorman.
"There were probably six people working there," said Travis Bonser, a teller at a Chase Bank across the street. "It's just a regular lab."
With about 26,000 residents, Tualatin is a middle-class community south of Portland. It is also the site of the practice facility for the Portland Trail Blazers.
NEW YORK --(FOX NEWS) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is being treated for a rare form of leukemia, and the basketball great said his prognosis is encouraging.

The NBA's all-time leading scorer was diagnosed last December with chronic myeloid leukemia, he told The Associated Press on Monday.
The 62-year-old Abdul-Jabbar said his doctor didn't give any guarantees, but informed him: "You have a very good chance to live your life out and not have to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle."
Abdul-Jabbar is taking an oral medication for the disease. He is a paid spokesman for the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, which makes a drug that treats the illness.
Citing the way Los Angeles Lakers teammate Magic Johnson brought awareness to HIV, Abdul-Jabbar said he wants to do the same for his form of blood cancer, which can be fatal if left untreated.
"I've never been a person to share my private life. But I can help save lives," he said at a midtown Manhattan conference room. "It's incumbent on someone like me to talk about this."
Abdul-Jabbar became concerned last year after feeling odd sensations. He went for tests at UCLA, where he dominated college basketball in the late 1960s, winning three straight NCAA championships from 1967-69.
"I was getting hot flashes and sweats on a regular basis," he said. "That's not normal, even for my age."
An exam showed his white blood cell count was "sky high" and a doctor quickly diagnosed his condition. At first, all Abdul-Jabbar heard was the word "leukemia."
"I was scared," he said. "I thought it was all the same. I thought it could mean I have a month to live."
"That was my first question," he said. "Was I going to make it?"
A longtime student in martial arts, Abdul-Jabbar said he took the approach of a samurai, to face death without fear.
"I had my face on," he said.
Instead, doctors told him CML was treatable with proper medication and monitoring.
Abdul-Jabbar is a special assistant with the Lakers and said he hasn't had to cut back his level of activity of coaching, change his regimen or adjust his diet. "I'm able to sneak out for Thai food," he said.
"There is hope. This condition can be treated. You can still live a productive, full life," he said. "I'm living proof I can make it."
Abdul-Jabbar recently returned from an academic conference in Abu Dhabi and has several speaking engagements planned. Among the people he regularly talks to about his condition is his son, a third-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco.
The six-time NBA MVP intends to post updates to his Facebook and Twitter accounts and stay connected through www.CMLearth.com, a Web site for those afflicted by the disease.
About 5,000 cases of CML are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society said. More than 22,000 people are living in the US with the disease.
The disease tends to initially be diagnosed by people in their mid-to-late 60s, and usually affects men more than women.
"I want to spread the word," Abdul-Jabbar said.

LAS VEGAS (FOX NEWS) -- Court records identify a 19-year-old Las Vegas woman as the leader of a burglary ring suspected of a series of break-ins at celebrities' homes in Los Angeles.

Search warrant records obtained Friday in Las Vegas show that police seized photos of Paris Hilton, designer jeans, computers, a Korean passport and 204 $100 bills when they arrested Rachel Lee at a northwest Las Vegas home Oct. 22.
Records show Lee was released the same day after posting $3,000 bail. Criminal charges have not been filed.
It was not immediately clear if she was represented by a lawyer.
Las Vegas police told a judge that Lee was the mastermind of a ring accused of burglarizing the Hollywood Hills homes of celebrities including Audrina Patridge, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom and the Hilton family.
LOS ANGELES --(FOX NEWS) Whether it's gun running, drug smuggling or human trafficking, crime has one common currency: Cold, hard cash.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents recently completed the largest cash-smuggling sting in history, a five-day operation involving police in 83 countries that uncovered more than $27 million in undeclared at airports and border crossings across the globe.
From wads of bills in a suitcase to cash stuffed in truckloads of sugar, customs agents have seen it all.
Operation ATLAS short for Assess, Target, Link, Analyze and Share was hailed by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano as an "unprecedented" model of international cooperation and one that snared $3.5 million in cash at airports and points of entry.
"People have to get the profits back (from illegal dealings abroad) and they can't use a bank, and that's what we're trying to go after," said John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
"As you know, when you hit someone in their pocketbook, it hurts a lot.
Under most international regulations, travelers may cross borders carrying over $10,000 as long as the money is declared. But cash couriers for criminal enterprises don't want their names ending up on government databases, which would allow police to track their patterns of travel. So many simply hide the money and take the risk.
From wads of bills in a suitcase to cash stuffed in truckloads of sugar customs agents have seen it all. Criminals have even hidden money in women's tights, or rolled up in packs of lifesavers, or concealed in cartons of cigarettes and platform heels. One desperate man swallowed $2,000 in condom, but the bills eventually had to come out.
"Traditional methods of smuggling in their suitcases as well as on their body is still prominent," says Thomas Winkowski of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. "Operation ATLAS is focused on ten international airports throughout the U.S."
Detroit led the U.S. last year with 128 seizures, followed by New York, Houston, Chicago and Boston. Seizures in Operation ATLAS include silver coins concealed in a rice cooker and cash woven into winter jackets. The majority of cash came in U.S. dollars, but also included pounds and Euros.
And while Southern California may be a gateway for drugs coming from Latin America, sources say most couriers don't head straight from LAX to Mexico City or South America. Instead, they make detours to Hong Kong or Canada to throw police off their trail and make multiple runs with relatively small amounts to protect cartel profits.
All these tricks of the trade, say Homeland Security agents, are reasons the agency has made cutting off their cashflow an international effort.
SEOUL, South Korea --(FOX NEWS) Navy ships of the two Koreas exchanged fire Tuesday along their disputed western sea border, South Korean military officers said.
A South Korean warship shot at a North Korean navy ship that crossed the disputed western sea border on Tuesday morning and the North's ship shot back, said an officer at the Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Another officer said there were no South Korean casualties, though it was unclear whether there were any on the North Korean side. He said that the North Korean ship was seriously damaged and that it turned back toward northern waters after the brief skirmish.
Both officers spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
Navies of the two Koreas fought deadly skirmishes along the western sea border in 1999 and 2002. The clash in 2002 left six South Korean soldiers dead and others wounded.
The two Koreas have yet to agree on their sea border more than 50 years after the end of their 1950-53 civil war, which ended in an armistice and not a permanent peace treaty.
Instead, they rely on a line that the then-commander of U.N. forces, which fought for the South, drew unilaterally at the end of the conflict.
North Korea last month accused South Korean warships of broaching its territory in waters off the west coast and warned of a clash in the zone, which is a rich crab fishing area.
The latest conflict comes amid international tensions over North Korea's nuclear weapons program and expectations that Pyongyang and the United States may soon engage in direct talks.
Meanwhile, there were no signs of tension along the heavily fortified land border separating the two Koreas. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that were no unusual troop movements on the North Korean side of the land border.
At Panmunjom in the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas, an Associated Press photographer said the situation there was normal. A group of Chinese tourists was visiting on the North Korean side.
The area is where officers from North Korea hold meetings with their counterparts from South Korea, the United States and other members of the United Nations command.
GULF SHORES, Ala. --(FOX NEWS) Squalls ahead of a rare late-season tropical storm blew in heavy rain late Monday to parts of the Gulf Coast where residents hunkered down at home and in shelters anticipating high winds and flooding.
Nov. 9: Satellite imagery shows Tropical Storm Ida moving north in the Gulf of Mexico.
Ida had slowed as it approached the coast. It was about 100 miles south-southwest of Mobile and expected to make land early Tuesday before turning east. Tropical storm warnings were out across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, where governors declared states of emergency.
In Gulf Shores along the coast, some streets were flooded and the city was under a 10 p.m. curfew, and Allen Hastings, general manager of The Original Oyster House, was closing his restaurant even earlier. During Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the restaurant flooded despite being elevated about 6 feet.
But Hastings, like many along the Gulf Coast, didn't anticipate Ida to be as bad, and knew it has been a quiet Atlantic tropical season until now.
"We're not complaining," he said as the restaurant's awnings whipped in the wind. "I don't think it's going to be bad, but we just have to see what tomorrow brings."
A low-pressure system that Hurricane Ida may have played a role in attracting earlier triggered flooding and landslides in El Salvador that killed at least 130 people. Near New Orleans, a 70-year-old man was feared drowned Monday when trying to help two fishermen whose boat had broken down in the Mississippi River, said Maj. John Marie, a Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's spokesman. A wave knocked him into the water.
Ida had been the third hurricane of this year's Atlantic season, which ends Dec. 1, but weakened with maximum sustained winds near 65 mph. Its speed had slowed to 13 mph and was moving north.
The storm was expected to weaken further before making landfall. Rain will move well inland before it does come ashore, said U.S. National Hurricane Center hurricane specialist Robbie Berg. Rainfall could be up to 8 inches in some areas, with most of the coast getting between 3 and 6 inches.
The streets were quiet in downtown Mobile, about 40 miles northwest of Gulf Shores, as many of the stores and restaurants had closed early. Stiff winds with gusts up to 50 mph and sheets of rain made driving hazardous, and many residents opted to stay off the roads, although few said they were leaving town.
Doris Moorman, who was managing the Red Cross shelter in the city, said she staffed a similar shelter last year during Hurricane Gustav that housed more than 500 people. She said she's concerned residents weren't taking the threat seriously, perhaps letting their Gustav experience lull them into a false sense of security.
"That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be fine this time," she said.
Earlier, some residents did reflect that attitude.
"We can ride it out right here," said T.J. Covacevich, 50, who wore a "Hurricane Hunter" T-shirt as he tied down his powerboat in a Biloxi, Miss., harbor.
Nancy Box, 68, of Gulf Shores, said she hoped the storm fizzled but did not want to chance riding it out in her elevated townhouse on the beach.
"The last time there was a storm, they came over the berm, and I don't swim," she said.
Forecasters predicted Ida's storm surge could raise water levels 3 to 5 feet above normal. In Pensacola, Fla., the streets were empty as heavy rain fell. The Gulf was rough and building and winds were howling.
Residents elsewhere in the Southeast braced for heavy rain. In north Georgia, which saw historic flooding in September, forecasters said up to 4 more inches could soak the already-saturated ground.
Two Chevron Corp. workers weren't injured but had to be rescued from an oil rig about 80 miles south of New Orleans that was in danger of toppling as Ida churned up high seas.
There were no mandatory evacuations, but authorities in coastal areas encouraged people near the water or in mobile homes to seek shelter. Many schools closed, and several cruise ships were delayed as the U.S. Coast Guard closed Gulf Coast ports.
On Dauphin Island in the Gulf of Mexico south of Mobile, Bobbie Buerger, owner of Ship & Shore Supplies general store, said she was staying.
"I'm going to try my best to hang through it. It's not been bad yet," she said. "There's been people buying candles and bread, the essentials. But there hasn't been anybody leaving yet."
In Louisiana and Mississippi, officials were concerned about hundreds of people still living in federally issued trailers and mobile homes after hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
Fred Everhardt, a councilman in southeast Louisiana's St. Bernard Parish, was frustrated as he counted camper-trailers he worried would get loose and clog bayous or ram into homes elevated and rebuilt after Katrina. He said he feared people were not taking the storm as seriously as they should.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. --(FOX NEWS) Investigators on Sunday captured a man they believe opened fire on a car parked at a gas station, killing three women, including an acquaintance of the suspect, state investigators said. Children inside the bullet-riddled vehicle escaped harm.
All the wounded in Saturday night's shooting outside the Crown Food Mart in East St. Louis were shot several times, mostly in the torso, and died later at a hospital, Illinois State Police Lt. James Morrisey said. At least one victim knew the gunman, Morrisey said, though the precise relationship was not clear.
Jay Makhluf, a co-owner of the convenience store, told The Associated Press he was working behind the counter when he heard what sounded like about 14 gunshots.
"He just emptied the whole gun," said Makhluf, who hustled outside to offer medical assistance but quickly found it was futile. "The women were already dead. It didn't take long for them to die. They were shot in the head, in the chest, in the neck. It's sick."
Makhluf said it looked like one of the women had covered a child with her body to shield the youngster.
Police in neighboring St. Louis arrested the suspect Sunday night at an apartment after an intensive search for the white, four-door 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis he supposedly drove to and from the shooting, Morrisey said.
The suspect's name was not released because charges had not been filed.
Police accounts conflicted Sunday night about how many children were in the car at the time. Morrisey said the children numbered three, one more than East St. Louis police Detective Ken Berry's number reported by the Belleville News-Democrat.
Their ages and relationships to the slain women — Canikia Harvey, 26, Raykel Gathing, 26, Jaimaca McDaniel, 24, all of East St. Louis — were not readily available.
"It's a bad enough tragedy as it is, but I think it's very fortunate none of the children were struck," Morrisey said.
Messages left with East St. Louis police and St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone were not immediately returned.
Morrisey said the women and children were sitting in a car about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the convenience store's lot when the suspect drove up, exchanged words briefly with at least one of the women and began firing with a handgun. The shooter then sped away, Morrisey said.
By Sunday night, Makhluf said, the gas pump where the women were gunned down was a makeshift memorial, adorned with flowers and a teddy bear. The pump was out of service for the day as a sign of respect for the victims' families, Makhluf said.
McDaniel's father, Willie Holmes, told the Belleville newspaper the murdered women were good friends and that his daughter had three sons. It was not clear whether those boys were the children in the car.
(FOX NEWS)--Aerosmith may be looking to replace frontman Steven Tyler, despite the band's 40th anniversary less than a year away.
Tyler's possible departure is reportedly linked to the singer's focus on his solo career. In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, he said he doesn't know what he'll be doing next "but it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler, working on the brand of myself, Brand Tyler."
Classic Rock magazine reports that Aerosmith is planning to meet without Tyler to discuss possibly replacing him or going on a long hiatus.
Guitarist Brad Whitford said Tyler leaves "big shoes to fill" and that no one could imitate him.
"But, if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?" said Whitford.
The 61-year-old singer suffered a fall off the stage during a show in Abu Dhabi, which reportedly put strain on the band that had to cancel the rest of the tour.
Aerosmith formed in 1970 and have released 14 albums. Among their most famous music includes 'Walk This Way,' 'Janie's Got a Gun,' and 'Dude (Looks Like a Lady.)
There's No Business Like FOX Business
The bears were in full retreat Monday as a fresh 15-month low for the U.S. dollar fueled a buying binge in stocks and commodities and pushed the Dow to unseen territory for 2009.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 203.52 points, or 2.03%, to 10226.94, the S&P 500 gained 23.78 points, or 2.22%, to 1093.08 and the Nasdaq Composite added 41.62 points, or 1.97%, to 2154.06. The consumer-friendly FOX 50 picked up 16.08 points, or 2.05%, to 800.69.
The bullish start to the week landed the S&P 500 in the green for the sixth day in a row and the blue-chip index more than 500 points higher in the past week alone, fully recapturing the losses from last month's mini correction. At the same time, crude touched $80 a barrel and gold closed at yet another all-time high above $1100 an ounce.
“It’s been a monetary trade around the world that’s keeping stock prices going," Paul Nolte, managing director at Dearborn Partners, told FOXBusiness.com.
The latest dive for the greenback was fueled by new pledges from finance ministers at the G20 summit to keep stimulus efforts in place until the global economy recovers.
“They are basically saying: ‘We are going to continue to print money,’" said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Jefferies & Co.
Enjoying its second 200-point surge in three sessions, the Dow was guided higher by financial stocks American Express (AXP: 39.01, 1.78, 4.78%) and Bank of America (BAC: 15.75, 0.71, 4.72%). The index's only decliner was Kraft (KFT: 26.53, -0.27, -1.01%), which formally made a hostile takeover bid for British candy giant Cadbury (CBY: 50.7, 0.2, 0.4%).
Now up 56% since plummeting to 6547 in March, the Dow has picked up 455 points in the last four days -- its best four-day performance since late July. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq have enjoyed even stronger gains, surging 61.6% and 69.8% respectively since hitting their bear-market lows. But with so much of the recent gains tied to the currency markets, some analysts are preaching caution.
“This monetary trade can continue for a while but we think ultimately when the music stops we could see a market that could come down 10% to 15% from where we are now," said Nolte.
Monday's gains were fueled by the dollar, which plunged 0.94% against the euro in the wake of the G20 summit. The currency has come under renewed pressure in recent days amid the latest signals that easy-money policies aren't going anywhere despite economic growth. While a long-term worry for officials, a weaker greenback has proven to be a short-term bullish catalyst for the markets by boosting demand for commodities and making U.S. goods cheaper overseas.

MIAMI --(FOX NEWS) A hurricane watch has been issued for coastal Louisiana and Mississippi as Hurricane Ida begins making its way through the Gulf of Mexico toward the U.S.

Ida could reach the northern Gulf Coast by Tuesday.
Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Sunday morning that the watch does not include New Orleans and stretches from Grand Isla, La., to the Mississippi-Alabama state line. The watch means hurricane conditions are possible within 36 hours.
A hurricane warning remained in effect for parts of the Yucatan Peninsula meaning hurricane conditions are expected within 24 hours.
Ida's winds remained at 90 mph, making it a Category 1 storm. It was moving toward the northwest at 10 mph, and was centered about 75 miles northeast of Cozumel, Mexico.

FORT HOOD, Texas --(FOX NEWS) The 13 people killed when an Army psychiatrist allegedly opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, included a pregnant woman who was preparing to return home, a man who quit a furniture company job to join the military about a year ago, a newlywed who had served in Iraq and a woman who had vowed to take on Usama bin Laden after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Here is a look at some of the victims.

Francheska Velez
Velez, 21, of Chicago, was pregnant and preparing to return home. A friend of Velez's, Sasha Ramos, described her as a fun-loving person who wrote poetry and loved dancing.
"She was like my sister," Ramos, 21, said. "She was the most fun and happy person you could know. She never did anything wrong to anybody."
Family members said Velez had recently returned from deployment in Iraq and had sought a lifelong career in the Army.
"She was a very happy girl and sweet," said her father, Juan Guillermo Velez, his eyes red from crying. "She had the spirit of a child."
Ramos, who also served briefly in the military, couldn't reconcile that her friend was killed in this country just after leaving a war zone.
"It makes it a lot harder," she said. "This is not something a soldier expects to have someone in our uniform go start shooting at us."

Capt. John Gaffaney
Gaffaney, 56, was a psychiatric nurse who worked for San Diego County, Calif., for more than 20 years and had arrived at Fort Hood the day before the shooting to prepare for a deployment to Iraq.
Gaffaney, who was born in Williston, N.D., had served in the Navy and later the California National Guard as a younger man, his family said. After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, he tried to sign up again for military service. Although the Army Reserves at first declined, he got the call about two years ago asking him to rejoin, said his close friend and co-worker Stephanie Powell.
"He wanted to help the boys in Iraq and Afghanistan deal with the trauma of what they were seeing," Powell said. "He was an honorable man. He just wanted to serve in any way he can."
His family described him as an avid baseball card collector and fan of the San Diego Padres who liked to read military novels and ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Gaffaney supervised a team of six social workers, including Powell, at the county's Adult Protective Services department. Ellen Schmeding, assistant deputy director for the county's Health and Human Services Agency, said Gaffaney was a strong leader.
He is survived by a wife and a son.

Pfc. Aaron Thomas Nemelka
Nemelka, 19, of the Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan, Utah, chose to join the Army instead of going on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his uncle Christopher Nemelka said.
"As a person, Aaron was as soft and kind and as gentle as they come, a sweetheart," his uncle said. "What I loved about the kid was his independence of thought."
Aaron Nemelka, the youngest of four children, was scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan in January, his family said in a statement. Nemelka had enlisted in the Army in October 2008, Utah National Guard Lt. Col. Lisa Olsen said.

Pfc. Michael Pearson
Pearson, 21, of the Chicago suburb of Bolingbrook, Ill., quit what he figured was a dead-end furniture company job to join the military about a year ago.
Pearson's mother, Sheryll Pearson, said the 2006 Bolingbrook High School graduate joined the military because he was eager to serve his country and broaden his horizons.
"He was the best son in the whole world," she said. "He was my best friend and I miss him."
His cousin, Mike Dostalek, showed reporters a poem Pearson wrote. "I look only to the future for wisdom. To rock back and forth in my wooden chair," the poem says.
At Pearson's family home Friday, a yellow ribbon was tied to a porch light and a sticker stamped with American flags on the front door read, "United we stand."
Neighbor Jessica Koerber, who was with Pearson's parents when they received word Thursday their son had died, described him as a man who clearly loved his family, someone who enjoyed horsing around with his nieces and nephews, and other times playing his guitar.
"That family lost their gem," she told the AP. "He was a great kid, a great guy. ... Mikey was one of a kind."
Sheryll Pearson said she hadn't seen her son for a year because he had been training. She told the Tribune that when she last talked to him on the phone two days ago, they had discussed how he would come home for Christmas.

Spc. Jason Dean Hunt
Hunt, 22, of Frederick, Okla., went into the military after graduating from Tipton High School in 2005 and had gotten married just two months ago, his mother, Gale Hunt, said. He had served 3 1/2 years in the Army, including a stint in Iraq.
Gale Hunt said two uniformed soldiers came to her door late Thursday night to notify her of her son's death.
Hunt, known as J.D., was "just kind of a quiet boy and a good kid, very kind," said Kathy Gray, an administrative assistant at Tipton Schools.
His mother said he was family oriented.
"He didn't go in for hunting or sports," Gale Hunt said. "He was a very quiet boy who enjoyed video games."
He had re-enlisted for six years after serving his initial two-year assignment, she said. Jason Hunt was previously stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia.

Michael Grant Cahill
Cahill, a 62-year-old physician assistant, suffered a heart attack two weeks ago and returned to work at the base as a civilian employee after taking just one week off for recovery, said his daughter Keely Vanacker.
"He survived that. He was getting back on track, and he gets killed by a gunman," Vanacker said, her words bare with shock and disbelief.
Cahill, of Cameron, Texas, helped treat soldiers returning from tours of duty or preparing for deployment. Often, Vanacker said, Cahill would walk young soldiers where they needed to go, just to make sure they got the right treatment.
"He loved his patients, and his patients loved him," said Vanacker, 33, the oldest of Cahill's three adult children. "He just felt his job was important."
Cahill, who was born in Spokane, Wash., had worked as a civilian contractor at Fort Hood for about four years, after jobs in rural health clinics and at Veterans Affairs hospitals. He and his wife, Joleen, had been married 37 years.
Vanacker described her father as a gregarious man and a voracious reader who could talk for hours about any subject.
The family's typical Thanksgiving dinners ended with board games and long conversations over the table, said Vanacker, whose voice often cracked with emotion as she remembered her father. "Now, who I am going to talk to?"

Greene, 29, of Mountain City, Tenn., was assigned to the 16th Signal Company, Fort Hood, Texas.

Staff Sgt. Justin M. DeCrow
DeCrow, 32, was helping train soldiers on how to help new veterans with paperwork and had felt safe on the Army post.
"He was on a base," his wife, Marikay DeCrow, said in a telephone interview from the couple's home at Fort Gordon, Ga., where she hoped to be reunited with her husband once he finished his work at Fort Hood. "They should be safe there. They should be safe."
His wife said she wanted everyone to know what a loving man he was. The couple have a 13-year-old daughter, Kylah.
"He was well loved by everyone," she said through sobs. "He was a loving father and husband and he will be missed by all."
DeCrow's father, Daniel DeCrow, of Fulton, Ind., said his son graduated high school in Plymouth, Ind., and married his high school sweetheart that summer before joining the Army. The couple moved near Fort Gordon about five years ago, he said.
About a year ago, his son was stationed in Korea for a year. When he returned to the U.S., the Army moved him to Fort Hood while he waited for a position to open up in Fort Gordon so he could move back with his wife and daughter, Daniel DeCrow said.
DeCrow said he talked to his son last week to ask him how things were going at Fort Hood.
"As usual, the last words out of my mouth to him were that I was proud of him," he said. "That's what I said to him every time — that I loved him and I was proud of what he was doing. I can carry that around in my heart."

Sgt. Amy Krueger
Krueger, 29, of Kiel, Wis., joined the Army after the 2001 terrorist attacks and had vowed to take on Usama bin Laden, her mother, Jeri Krueger said.
Amy Krueger arrived at Fort Hood on Tuesday and was scheduled to be sent to Afghanistan in December, her mother told the Herald Times Reporter of Manitowoc.
Jeri Krueger recalled telling her daughter that she could not take on bin Laden by herself.
"Watch me," her daughter replied.
Kiel High School Principal Dario Talerico told The Associated Press that Krueger graduated from the school in 1998 and had spoken at least once to local elementary school students about her career.
"I just remember that Amy was a very good kid, who like most kids in a small town are just looking for what their next step in life was going to be and she chose the military," Talerico said. "Once she got into the military, she really connected with that kind of lifestyle and was really proud to serve her country."

Pfc. Kham Xiong
Xiong, 23, of St. Paul, Minn., was a father of three whose family had a history of military service.
Xiong's father, Chor Xiong, is a native of Laos who fought the Viet Cong alongside the CIA in 1972; Chor's father, Kham's grandfather, also fought with the CIA; and Kham's brother, Nelson, is a Marine serving in Afghanistan.
"I very mad," Xiong's father said Friday. Through sniffles and tears, he said his son died for "no reason" and he has a hard time believing Kham is gone.
Kham Xiong was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan, and his sister Mee Xiong said the family would be able to understand if he would have died in battle.
"He didn't get to go overseas and do what he's supposed to do, and he's dead ... killed by our own people," Mee Xiong said.
Xiong was one of 11 siblings and came to the U.S. when he was just a toddler. He grew up in California, then moved to Minnesota with the family about 10 years ago, Chor Xiong said.
He was married and had three children ages 4, 2 and 10 months. He and his wife had moved to Texas in July, Chor Xiong said.
Xiong attended Community of Peace Academy, graduating in 2004, said high school principal Tim McGowan.
"His greatest attribute was his ability to make people smile and make people laugh. Looking back, that's the fondest memory I have — is that smile of his and that smile that he brought to my face," McGowan said.
For his father, the death of the little boy who followed his dad everywhere was hard to take. "I don't think he's dead," Chor Xiong said, then whispered, "I don't think he's dead."

Juanita Warman
Warman, 55, was a military physician assistant with two daughters and six grandchildren.
Her sister, Margaret Yaggie of Roaring Branch in north-central Pennsylvania, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that her sister attended Pittsburgh Langley High School and put herself through school at the University of Pittsburgh. She said her sister spent most of her career in the military.

Major L. Eduardo Caraveo
Caraveo, 52, arrived in the United States in his teens from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, knowing very little English said his son, also named Eduardo Caraveo.
He earned his doctorate in psychology from the University of Arizona and worked with bilingual special-needs students at Tucson-area schools before entering private practice.
His son told the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson that Caraveo had arrived at Fort Hood on Wednesday and was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. Eduardo Caraveo spoke to the newspaper from his mother's Tucson home.
His father's Web site says he offered marriage seminars with a company based in Woodbridge, Va.

Russell Seager's uncle said he joined the Army a few years ago because he was a psychiatrist who wanted to help soldiers returning from war adapt to civilian life again. He taught at Bryant & Stratton College in Milwaukee.
