Arna Bee has been a dear friend of the family as well as a fearless blossoming inspiration to myself and I’m imagining to herself also. She carries with her a powerful story that seems to give her the ability to be a colorful sparkle even in black and white-Arna Bee Photography. With the experience of her and her parents they have lived many life times. It has created a depth of vision through the lens of her life and a powerful story in every shot of her work at Arna Bee Photography . Always a huge smile warm embrace and positive energy when you collide with Arna.  We have had many visits about risking everything as Arna’s parents have and she has. The result has manifested a young woman that will enrich your life by taking notice of her Arna Bee Photography . Arna has always been an artist at heart. Her pictures tell so many stories on so many levels. She has always been self-motivated and encourages others with her positive attitude. We have shared so much laughter over the years and she continues to make all that meet her smile. Her pictures also make you smile and sometimes laugh out loud. Some of her pictures remind you to live your life to the fullest and be thankful for each day. She has worked very hard and graduated from Brooks Art Institute this past April. She is constantly honing her photograph abilities and shares her knowledge freely. She created Arna Bee Photography and has continued to grow her photography business with integrity and constant gratitude for the hard work her parents have worked daily to allow her to do what she loves. I am so glad Arna crossed paths with our daughter over seven years ago~our families are blessed to have each other in our lives.

My newest bronze “Time to Connect” reminds me so much of the beginning of Autumn. It also reminds me that people with stronger connections to family, friends, and society in general tend to live longer, healthier lives. These 3 fishing buddies seem to have the innate ability to connect and be in the moment.

    The Dreamer’s Dance Bronze vessel was originally created in a water based clay. The artwork and manipulation of the clay shows off the altering of the clay that was pliable at one time. It was then fired in the kiln and the molding process for bronze begins.

This is the kiln heating the bronze billets on top of the kiln, but inside the kiln there is a crucible that will reach peak temperature at 1975 degrees. Once it reaches maturity, the crucible is lifted out to pour into the negative space of the ceramic shell.

Ceramic shell-Bottom of Vessel. This is a lost wax technique in which the wax was burned out at 1700 degrees to leave the negative space of a ceramic shell. This is the bottom third of the vessel and the center open is poured separately and welded separately.

 This is pouring the bronze out of a crucible at 1975 degrees. It is poured into the ceramic shell. There are sprues built into the structure to avoid trapping air and producing a great reproduction. At this point, there is a hour waiting period before you can begin to break off the ceramic shell with a pneumatic hammer or ball hammer. This crucible weighs about 250 pounds and while pouring you should always wear protective gear and especially closed toed shoes! No tevas, crocks, or flip flops!

This is the middle piece of the Dreamer’s Dance vessel that was just poured. The ceramic shell has been chipped off with hammers.It needs to be welded together with a piece on the top and a piece on the bottom. The lid is poured in one piece and the bottom is poured in another, so the total pieces that make up the vessel is 5 pours.

Then the metal tooling begins!

Here we’re using a plasma cutter to cut off the sprues on the bottom of the vessel. Everything looks good. The pour turned out well. We need to do some sandblasting before the metal tooling begins.

The metal tooling is an art in and of itself. To weld pieces together and create a surface that looks just like the original sculpture can be quite a challenge. After that metal tooling is complete, I will look at the piece and there should only be 2 percent more work to complete a flawless masterpiece!

The final step is a patina.

This patina guy, Slim, is an absolute alchemist when dealing with the application of patinas. Check out his handy work in the next photo!

As a boy I remember dreams of flying,  looking back at my tail feathers, they were always iron red. Inspired to develop a symbolic piece that recalls these  inspirational dreams I created This Red-Tailed hawk. My wish is that your eyes will move inquisitively up the wind draft to soaring imagination and ideas.
