This will be our only full band performance of the winter aside from the weekly worship leading at Liquid Church in Morristown.</div><div><br /></div><div>We'll be performing at 6:30pm that evening and will be sharing some new music with you as well as some of the older material. This will be our third year at St. Thomas More Church and each year the attendance has been growing. This year we want to have our largest crowd yet. </div><div><br /></div><div>Aside from hearing some great music, you'll be able to save a life, for just about the cost of a cup of coffee a day.</div><div><br /></div><div>This time of year, there are a whole new set of problems that so many families face. Here's one story:</div><div><br /></div><div>THE KOLONOS FAMILY, ROMANIA:</div><div>It's a typical winter day in the village where the Kolonos family lives. Temperatures are hovering around 5 degrees above zero Fahrenheit, and the eight children of Mihai and Claudia Kolonos have taken refuge in their one-room mud hut. Without warm clothing, they simply can't go to school on a frigid day like this. Instead, they stay home and do chores like caring for the family livestock, chopping wood for the fire, and gathering water from a well. But the hard work of these children can't change the desperate circumstances they face. Their father, Mihai, must venture out into the village to search for work. The meager income he generates from odd jobs usually isn't even enough to provide basics. The hut in which they live has no electricity or running water.</div><div><br /></div><div><div>A cold, harsh reality</div><div><br /></div><div>"Today, I didn't have a bread crust to give my children for school," admits Claudia, their mother, who is clearly embarrassed that she often can't feed her family of 10. It was great to have the whole band together again, haven't played a full on show in a while, actually since June. A christian school based in Manahawkin, NJ. They cater to kids from pre-K through 6th grade. It's so important to support organizations like this. They are building up the next generation of leaders. Last night they had over 100 kids enroll for the next school year. We played in Flemington NJ on Saturday evening at the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.connectionscafenj.com/">Connections Cafe</a>. Had a great night &amp; played for about 40 people there. Played a few new songs as well "Don't Give Up On Me" &amp; "Even If Not". <div><br /></div><div>Sunday all day we were in Morristown leading worship at <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.liquidchurch.com/">Liquid Church</a>, still great stuff going on there &amp; if you haven't checked it out, not sure what you're waiting for. Incredible preaching &amp; just real relevant messages going on...oh &amp; the worship is great too :) Sunday evening we headed out to Newton, NJ and played for a group of about 120 kids from Pennsylvania. These were high school age kids who were in town for a week working on rebuilding homes for those in need in the local area. Very cool how God works through his body, the church, to show his love to people that have no idea about where it's coming from. Great to see kids getting up &amp; putting God's love into motion in this way.<div><br /></div><div>Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday we were down in Ocean City, NJ leading worship for a church youth group based out of Virginia/Pennsylvania. Really great stuff &amp; we really enjoyed leading worship for these kids. There were about 100 kids and they were on a 4 day retreat just learning about God &amp; about how God fits into their lives. It was incredible to see how open these kids were with their feelings &amp; what was going on in their lives. So different from when i was that age. I remember just keeping it all inside &amp; not sharing who i was with anyone. Kids are different these days, i like it. God is moving in this generation in such an awesome way. </div><div><br /></div><div>There was a speaker there by the name of Jim Walker. He gave 4 messages during the week &amp; really hit on some very important stories in the bible. He talked about Peter, about dropping the masks in our lives &amp; about how Barabas felt the night the people set him free &amp; the night they crucified Jesus. Very very powerful stuff. Jim runs a church out of Pittsburgh called <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.hotmetalbridge.com/">Hot Metal Bridge Church</a>. God shows up aand has been changing peoples lives, especially these past few weeks as we've been plowing through the book of Habbakuk. The theme of the series is a "where is God when it feels like He's not there" type of theme, where is God in the dips of our lives, where is God when it hurts....</span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Week three, which was last weekend, kind of brought this all together &amp; the lead pastor at Liquid, <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.bighairpreacher.com">Tim Lucas</a>, &amp; I wrote a song specifically for the day. It's a tune called "Even If Not". Point being, even if it seems like God isn't there, even if the rain is falling hard, even if we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, we will continue to worship God. He is faithful &amp; true to the very end. God has a different system, and if our faith is in Him, we can feel tremendous relief. Christ talked about the worth of an individual. His words are good news to all of us who will never be fashion models and billionaires......".<br /><br />Then they go on to talk about how Jesus mentions in Matthew that God knows the worth of a sparrow, and that no sparrow could fall to the ground without God knowing about it. <br /><br />"Now if God knows the destinies of all the sparrows and cares about each one of them, we can feel wonderful about ourselves, knowing he cares much more for us. If our sense of self worth is derived from God, we don't have to worry about what the world thinks of us or does to us. The fact that God sent his Son to die for us should be an overwhelming affirmation of the worth of each individual"<br /><br />Think about that just for a minute, stop just for a second and think about that. If God sent his Son to die for us.....He truly cares for us. He sent this sacrifice before we were even born, knowing that we were going to need it. Talk about unconditional love....<br /><br />So if you're interested, check out the book, very cool, liberating stuff. Paul Young</a>. at first i was very hesitant to start reading it, i'd heard the hype, i'm not one to jump on bandwagons but actually seek out &amp; create my own priorities in my literary life...this book is phenomenal. i've never read a book that has put such real skin on the trinity the way that this one does. i'll admit the first 66 pages were a bit tough to read for me due to the subject matter....evil truly does exist in this world but then we have the other two thirds of the book that just paints an unbelievably (literally) beautiful picture of the God that we serve &amp; love. here's a quick quote that i just love from the end of the book, this is Jesus speaking:<br /><br />"i don't want to be the first among a list of values: i want to be at the center of everything. when i live in you, then together we can live through everything that happens in you. rather than a pyramid, i want to be the center of a mobile, where everything in your life - your friends, family, occupation, thoughts, activities-is connected to me but moves with the wind, in and out and back and forth, in an incredible dance of being"<br /><br />that just completely blows my mind. how is that possible. This is no small announcement, when God makes an announcement like this he sends not just one angel but it says that a host of angels appeared &amp; started singing.....a host. Not sure how many that is but i think it's a lot. Imagine the skies lighting up &amp; a choir of angels singing "glory to god in the highest".<br /></p><p>God sent his son Jesus to us. Jesus is born. Our saviour is born.<br /></p><p>There is no greater message that we need to hear every day than this. Jesus is born. Hallelujah. We are saved. Forget about everything else for a minute. Focus on this. Focus on this "gift" that God has given us. Forget about the gifts that we're going to get this year, forget about the gifts that we're going to give, the gifts that we think we "need"....<br /></p><p> Jesus is here. Jesus is born. It's a tune that we did a while back for a project called <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.kingshighwaymusic.com">King's Highway</a> but we're going to re-interpret it a bit &amp; make it a little mellower. we're pretty excited about sharing these arrangements &amp; these songs with you. look for it towards the end of november. <br /><br />and as we enter this season of thanks &amp; christmas, keep in mind how unbelievably blessed we are living where we live. this has become so apparent to me lately &amp; is something that i'm really trying to get a hold of. We played at the TGIF Coffeehouse in South Attleboro, MA on friday evening. What a great place, great people, great venue, overall an awesome vibe....Saturday night we played at the Upper Room in West Warwick, RI. Great place with a really cool vibe as well. We played two sets in each of those venues &amp; then Sunday played at the Faith Chapel Assembly of God in Bridgewater, MA. Had a blast at this place &amp; really enjoyed the church.
