At midnight Eastern tonight, it will be exactly 50 years since the death of the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad. 1 February 1968 would be “Merger Day” as troubled twin giants PRR and the New York Central joined their railroads into the Penn Central Transportation Company. Been a while since I’ve posted. To be honest I feel like my N scale PRR journey may be coming to an end. Although I’m still relatively young, changes on my eyesight and fine motor skills are making N scale harder to do. I’m really enjoying working in HOn3…a sort of “homecoming” since I was doing HOn3 25 years ago as a teen with little money and even less skill. Now it’s a whole other ballgame. Deciding whether to sell the layout whole or sell off the pieces. If anyone cares to offer their opinion on the matter that’s fine, but what it really comes down to is whether more HOn3 money can be had by selling it whole or in pieces. The Juniata Division has been great fun and really helped me get to know the modeling community but these days it’s just something I walk around to get to the workshop to build HOn3 stuff. from N Scale Juniata Division Model Railroad http://ift.tt/2aiL3Xc

I acquired a reproduction of a builder’s plate for a PRR class K4s 4-6-2 steam locomotive, one of 425 manufactured for the Pennsy. This locomotive was manufactured in 1918 in Altoona, Pennsylvania at the Juniata Locomotive Shops of the Standard Railroad of the World, America’s Broad Way of Commerce…the mighty and immortal Pennsylvania Railroad.
