Well..Where do I start?

I know a few of you will be familiar with my story – but some may not.

I started my first website on the 17th Feb 2009, after becoming bored of my job as an trainee accountant. I never wanted to be an ‘employee’ and always knew that one day, I would work for myself – I just didn’t expect things to happen so fast.

After starting my fist site, I struggled for months and months – wasted over $3,000 on ebooks/video courses that I did nothing with. You have probably been there yourself (and you may still be there) – the only advice I can give is put your credit card AWAY!

In June of 2009, I was told by a friend that Alex Jeffreys was reopening his coaching program, and with an investment of $997 – it was going to be the most I had spent in one go, and it was a massive commitment for me. I was actually on holiday in Zante (Greece) when the coaching went live, but I still made sure I was by a computer to book my place.

A few weeks after starting the coaching, I had met loads of like minded people, and 4 guys in particular I now consider to be my ‘inner circle”. They are Josh Bartlett, Matt Wolfe, David Walker and Joe Fier. I have had so much help off these guys, and I can honestly say that these relationships I have built are worth a lot more than the $997 I paid for the coaching.

Moving through the coaching, things started to click into place for me and on 2nd November 2009 after a bad day at the office – I quit my job. It was a hard decision to make, support from friends and family wasn’t great as they didn’t completely understand what I was doing online, and in some cases I think they like the idea of me being an accountant.

I was now at a stage where I was making more online than I had done in my job, and in December 2009, I was asked to help out on a product launch as affiliate manager. After speaking with Josh Bartlett (thanks for the advice) I decided that this was an avenue I wanted to pursue, and I am currently Josh’s affiliate manager for his upcoming launch of Easy Video Player.

So that is a brief overview of 2009, what I want to do now is tell you about 2010. My goals and ambitions. Why am I doing this? because if I post it here for the world to see. then I am accountable to all you guys, and that is a powerful mental trigger, plus – I’m pretty competitive and don’t want you to see me fail!

So – My goals for 2010.

Business Goals

Build my subscriber base to 30,000. I will do this by using adswaps and also through various product launches.

Build my income to a consistent $20,000 per month.

Build my own free affiliate training community.

Work on at least five 6 figure product launches as affiliate manager in 2010.

Redevelop my blog with a redesign and more content updates (at least 1 per week), as I’ve been slacking somewhat!

Go to at least 5 networking events in the USA.

Have my own 6 figure product launch.

Personal Goals

Travel to Mexico, New Zealand, USA and China during 2010.

Buy my own house (I’m still living with my parents).

Lose 1 1/2 stone (21ls) in weight.

Go to the gym at least 3 times a week and also get a personal trainer.

Spend next new year in New York with my girlfriend.

This final goal I would say is a personal and a business goal. I want to give at least one person the power to do what I have done and earn a full time living online.

So there you have it – I’ve told you what I want to do in 2010..I challenge you to tell me what you are going to do!

My goals may look quite intimidating to you – Hell, they look intimidating to me, but I will achieve them all in 2010. I guarantee it.

Your goals may be earning your first $ online, or getting 1000 subscribes, it doesn’t matter how big, or how small they are, you just need to make sure you have them and that you work towards them everyday.

That is the secret to success. Create goals —> Take action.

A guest article this time. Sheffield based Jonathan Senior owns an online training company aimed at business and managers. He runs two blogs, the Sharp End Training blog and Learn on Demand. He has some expensive product creation software and is looking for internet marketers to partner with. Contact him through either blog.

A lot of business’s & marketers have switched onto facebook for marketing & promotion. After all, alexa shows facebook to be the 3rd ranked website in the world after google and yahoo and according to it’s own stats, there are 65 million regular users. That’s a big market place.

But most marketers miss a vital trick. In these days of mass automation and bulk processing, it’s easy to forget that behind each profile is a real person – not just a prospect.

Treating people’s profiles on facebook like printouts from any other automation or bulk processing tool is a good way to send your online reputation going the wrong way.

Why?

If you were selling something in the street, you wouldn’t systematically go through them asking them one at a time “Do you want to buy this?” and if they hesitated or said no – you moved onto the next one.

No you wouldn’t

That’s not very efficient or a good use of your time or resources.

The facebook danger (and admit it – we have all done it…) is going along to someone’s profile or a group and posting something like

“Hello I am [your name] and this is what I sell [link]” and then left.

You have never visited that page again. What you have done is just polluted the internet. It’s like graffiti spraying someone’s facebook profile.

There is a better way

It’s called actually getting to know people. You remember – you did it on your first day at school…

You find out what they like and don’t like (you do find out what your customers don’t like… don’t you?)

You ask them how they are; take an interest in what they do. (You might not be interested in swimming with sharks but they might be…)

And after a while, something magical happens – they begin to like you and even better, they may even trust you – so when they have a problem or they actually get bit by a shark they are likely to ask people they trust for advice. THEN it might be sale time.

Of course this is a longer lead time but something else magical happens – they tell their entire shark swimming mates who then seek advice from you. Now isn’t that better than selling one at a time ?

Thought you would agree?

So, my advice is – if you are building your online business using your own name, brand or image – then you CANNOT afford to be seen as an internet polluter. Whatever you are selling. You MUST be seen as someone people can trust.

Jonathan and his team have developed a video training course called “How to market your business on facebook”

Here is the link but subscribers to my rss feed will shortly receive a voucher worth 15% discount.

I should really apologise! I have been out of touch for a while. I’ve been really busy, and also took a weekend off. It was bank holiday weekend in England (basically a day off work), and I promised my girlfriend that no computers would be switched on for 3 days! It was hard, but i did it!

As I said, I’ve been really busy over the last month. I have had my most profitable week since I started my journey to make a full time living online.

Product Creation

I have officially now created and sold my first product – and I have about 3 more on the way!

Product creation, in my opinion is the best way to start making a living online. It can be difficult, but I’m sure that you know something that comebody else would pay to know. Just think about it for a second..how much more do you know now, than you did 6 months ago?

My product was a system I used to make some cash as I was getting started. I still use it now, but I am more focused on product creation, and developing my ideas at the moment as my time is really limited.

The system I used was leveraging Yahoo Answers. It is pretty simple to so – and I created a step-by-step report on what I did.

So, it’s simple, learn something – master it, put it into your own words – or add your own twist on it and you have a product!

Where did I sell it? Basically, I put up my product as a WSO on the Warrior Forum. It is a great way to get your product in amongst targeted buyers.

Many people have problems developing their own products, it can be pretty tough, If that’s the case then just hit me up – I would love to talk to you about any issues you are having – and maybe have a brainstorm and come up with some ideas for you.

Another things about product creation is that you can build your list aswell as make you some cash. over the last 2 weeks I have increased my list by around 80 subscribers, which isnt much, but it almost doubled the size of my list!

Website Flipping

Currently I am working with another one of Alex jeffreys 2.0 students – and we are in the process of building a website to flip. This in itself, can earn you a full time income, but can be pretty labor intensive if used as your sole income stream.

What I prefer is flipping actual businesses. This is something I picked up off one of my friends, Steven Walk.

Basically, you build yourself an online business – with some sort of continuity involved – so to keep it simple, you develop a coaching course on listbuilding, which is 6 months long and content is drip fed every week.

Once you get some recurring income – the value of this website ROCKETS.

People love geting their hands on readymade businesses, it takes all the hassle out of creating your own product and information.

You may think it would be stupid to sell a business which is making you a solid monthly income…

but..what if you kept 20% equity in it when you sold it?

You would have some cash to build another site – maybe something which has a higher ticket value – so more $$$ per customer. You have more cash to advertise and promote, and in turn get more members. When you come to sell this site, as there is a higher monthly revenue, you can ask a higher price.

If you keep another 20% equity in this business, then you are increasing your monthly income – and it will be on complete autopilot.

Now it might be that somebody is not prepared to give you 20% – so you could put a time limit on it. So you have 20% equity for 3 months, and can be used on a consultancy basis if any problems arise. In those 3 months, you can develop your next flip and get ready to sell it.

That way, you always have a monthly income!

Anyway, they are just 2 business models I am working on at the moment. I have tried to keep it simple, and just give you an insight to what I am doing.

It will hopefully give me some capital that I can reinvest back into my business, and grow it further!

If your having any problems, then just shoot me a comment and I’ll be happy to help!

Last year, for my 21st birthday I was given a voucher for a driving day experience. So, I spent Saturday driving a Ferrari 360, Aston Martin Vantage, Lotus Elise, Subaru Impreza and an Audi R8.

I’ve got my eyes on the Audi R8! Although it might take me a while to save up the £80,000 I need to buy one!

I’ve got some pictures, and some videos I think.

I will get them posted onto my blog over the next few days.

I spent Sunday at a BBQ, and just had a few beers and relaxed!

Want to know the best part? During this weekend, I made about $200. It’s not much, but if you think about it, I was getting paid for having a good time!

This is why I am so determined to succeed.

Anyway, just a short post for today. I’ve got some planning to do for me new products, and I’m also planning some new posts on listbuilding over the next few days, as this is something I have been focusing on lately!

Take Care

Internet marketing has a pretty steep learning curve. There is so much to learn… how to create a website, how to FTP, how to write articles, how to do PPC, how to add pictures and graphics, and on and on. You can and will learn all these things, but there are three components you really need to learn about for your internet marketing business to succeed. Without all three of these, you won’t be as successful as you could be. You might make sales, but not near the number you could be making.

1. You have to be trustworthy.

If your website screams “Buy, buy, buy!” and you don’t give them good content and show that you know what you’re talking about, they probably won’t trust you or buy from you. If your site is one big walking, talking ad with the maximum number of AdSense ads, promotion pitch after promotion pitch, and banners stuck all over the place, potential customers are going to run the other way. They need to trust you before they offer you their credit card info. Take a look at your site through the customer’s eyes and see what they see. Pull back on the AdSense, banner ads, etc. and make it a classy website.

2. You have to offer value.

Start with giving away something free, like a report, in exchange for their opting in to your list. That’s your first chance to show off what you know and offer incredible value. You might argue that “free” doesn’t mean you have to give something valuable, but I disagree. How would it make you feel if a carpet cleaning company who wants your business came out and cleaned one of your rooms for free, and did a lousy job? Do you want to purchase from them? After they’re on your list, continue to send them free valuable info. Perhaps a well-researched article or short PDF will make them open their eyes to just how much information you know. The next product you produce and promote and over-deliver on will entice your “free” customers to become paying customers again and again.

3. You need traffic.

This can be tough obstacle for any new marketer to overcome. You can put together the most valuable, crazy, insane offer ever, but if no one knows about it, you won’t make those sales you’re dreaming of. Make a point of studying how to get traffic a priority. Research all the avenues of increasing your traffic and take action. Invest in a course if need be – it’s that important to get traffic. Of course it should be targeted traffic, not just any old traffic. You want people who are looking for what you’ve got; they’re more likely to turn into buyers. There are no guarantees that you will be wildly successful with internet marketing, but if you spending time on these three components, you stand a good chance of getting results you can be happy with.

You will have the business name, telephone number and email addresses or any other type of information you would want. Think of the possibilities!
I won’t talk to much about the mechanics of it, but this thing works, and I’ve seen the results!

So, what can you do?

You can build a list within your target market, by using targeted keywords and the program builds a dictionary of tag words to ensure you get related results returned and you ca ask us to use the dictionary again in further searches

We then give you access to a landing page or you ca develop your own landing page so that people can find out more about you or contact you directly. Remember we comply to all the spamming rules and the program adheres strictly to this and returns statistics we can send to you too so that you can see who has read your mal, how fast and what they did after or, where they went.

Just wait for people to sign up for more information and boost your list numbers!

How simple is that? If you have any questions then just leave a comment and we’ll answer them!!

I have been trying to make a living online for a few months now, and I am still not utilising one tool to its fullest potential! That is SOCIAL MEDIA! This is my rant about the way people are using it at the moment!!

I have been trying to make a living online for a few months now, and I am still not utilising one tool to its fullest potential! That is SOCIAL MEDIA!

It’s not that I don’t have many friends…it’s just that they aren’t people I want to talk to! That’s not me being nasty, it just frustrates me when I log into my Twitter account and all I can see is spam!

I admit, I have been there and done it myself. A few months ago, I bought a product on making money with Twitter, and in my newbie naivety, I started Auto DM’ing affiliate links, automated my Twitter posts with Twitter-feed, and just sent out random affiliate links!

What did I achieve? Absolutely nothing. My twitter homepage just looked horrendous. I hardly spoke to anybody, and didn’t use Twitter for what it was made for. People need to realise that it is SOCIAL MEDIA and not ‘GIVE ME YOUR MONEY MEDIA’.

I think Perry Belcher gives the best analogy on the subject, I’d try to come up with my own, but it would just sound lame!

He says that social media is like a party. You wouldn’t turn up to a party and start selling to people straight away, would you? What would happen if you did? I assume you would maybe get called a few names, and get told to leave.

What do you normally do at a party? You socialise, talk about sport, family…and maybe sometimes about your job! Once you get to know someone, you can then invite them back to your house (your blog) for a BBQ. Again, if someone came to your house and as soon as they came in, you tried to sell to them, they would probably leave straight away!

The key is to wait till you are on ‘the back porch’. This is where you can talk business, but again, don’t push the sale to hard, just do subtle things like have an op-tin box embedded in a post, so people know it’s there, but don’t feel like you are pushing it in their faces!

That is just a short summary of what the analogy he uses, which I think works really well!

So..I have made mistakes with social media in the past. I was chasing cash, which is something you shouldn’t do! BUT I have seen the error of my ways, and I am going to change!

What action am I taking? Well, it’s pretty extreme! As Twitter is the main social tool I use, I am un-following everybody, then re-following the people I want to interact with! I know this will result in my Twitter followers running away – if I don’t follow them, they won’t follow me, but why do I want people following me who have no interest in what I say? They just want another pair of eyes to read their affiliate links!

I know one of my friends, Matt Wolfe has done exactly the same as me, we decided to do it after we got onto the subject, and how annoying the spamming was!

Why don’t you join us in our quest to be social? You can use Twitter Karma to un-follow everybody, it makes things easier!

If you haven’t started using social media yet, then come and join the party, but remember, NO SELLING!

Rant over!

This is a topic some people are pretty scared of. Sitting down, and ACTUALLY creating your very own product.

I have a couple of tips for you if you are trying to create your own product, but have a bit of writers block.

I know how hard it is to get all the things you know down on paper, in a way that people will understand. I sometimes think that people won’t be interested in the things that I know. I suppose these feelings are natural, but they don’t help!

If you are having any problems getting things started then here are a couple of tips tips.

Outsource it!

You can outsource your product creation. Just head over to one of these websites.

www.elance.com

www.getafreelancer.com

www.odesk.com

I have used all 3, and have had good and bad results. The beauty is that if you aren’t happy, you don’t pay!

The way it works is that you post a project, and in this you write a summary of what you want. I recommend being as detailed as possible with this, so that you get EXACTLY what you ask for!

People will then ‘bid’ on your project, it’s kind of like the reverse of eBay! You will get a range of ‘bids’, but remember, the lowest bid won’t always be the best option. Check the person’s feedback and ask for samples of previous work. Once you find someone you are happy with, you award them the project. Now, don’t just leave them to it. Make sure you get updates on their progress. Get them to send you the work that they have done so far so that you can review it, this will make sure things run smoothly, and also save any issues when the product is completed.

I wouldn’t suggest just using the book produced as your finished product. You need to put your stamp on it. This can be as easy as telling your story, and putting your picture in it, this will brand YOU, and also people love to hear stories that they can relate to.

You will also need to get yourself some graphics. I recommend Michael Ottman at www.simpleecovers.com. He did my header, just check out his site!

Blog Your Product

You might be wondering what this means. I think it’s a really handy tip and it kills 2 birds with one stone (not that it’s cool to kill birds).

All that you need for this is a blog, and to be able to convert a word document into PDF!

If you have a blog, then I’ll take a guess and presume you post to it! What you can do, is copy your blog posts into one document and turn it into a book.

So, plan to write say 10 posts on ‘Listbuilding’, for example, and write these over the course of a month (about one every four days). Just to show you how easy it is, your 10 posts could be:

Why should you build a list?

Auto-responders and what they do.

What is a Squeeze page and how to set one up.

Email marketing and what not to do!

Building your list with giveaway events

Building your list with ad swaps.

Building your list with social media.

Building your list with article marketing.

Split testing.

Building sub lists.

This is less daunting than sitting down and writing a full eBook. Once you have written them, just put all the content into one document! It’s as easy as that! You can obviously add screenshots to it if you like. This breaks up the text, as well as illustrates your written instructions, which people seem to prefer. This is a relatively easy task – but again, the images can just be added into the blog post, making the finished product all that more easy to produce!

It may require some editing so that the chapters flow correctly, but you could outsource this if you wanted – as well as get it proofread.

The benefits creating a product by blogging are:

The content is already there. All you need to do is copy and paste.

You have been providing quality content to your reader base.

Blog posts are easier to write, and take less time – plus, you have to post to your blog anyway!

You might be thinking it’s a problem posting this information for the world to see, and then packaging it up into a book, but not everyone who reads the book will read your blog, and everybody people will read ALL of your posts. Even if someone has done, I’m sure they won’t mind getting FREE quality content.

As with the first method, you will need to tell your story and get some graphics done!

So, don’t worry about creating a product, it sounds harder than it actually is!
