Since November 2007 I've been keeping a public diary of my life in affiliate marketing but times are changing. Whereas I used to post every few days (okay at least weekly!) I know find myself posting on a monthly basis or even less. So I've taken the decision to follow suit with pretty much most other affiliate blog I used to read often and close my blog.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Guest Post - Quirky Traffic Generation Ideas

I don't tend to run many guest posts but this one from Nisha over at Monetise (whose website strapline reads "The UK CPA network") caught my eye. I like quirky things so an article into quirky traffic generation seemed right up my street. I hope you find it interesting and useful.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Christmas 2012 Thank You's

'Tis the season to be jolly. Despite the doom and gloom throughout the year (mainly thanks to Google and it's animal themed algorithm changes) together with the fact that I've been working on Christmas plans since around June (I actually managed to be *very* prepared this year!), I'm feeling particularly festive. That's helped by receiving one or two gifts from kind and generous merchants, networks and fellow affiliates. As they've sent over some affiliate Christmas presents I feel it's only right to say thank you loud and proud! So here goes.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
7 Things I Have Learnt About In Affiliate Marketing During 2012

It's always helpful to look back over the previous year at Christmas and question what went right and what went wrong. In doing so you usually discover traits that have happened over the year, and can discover aspects to continue or improve upon through 2013. Here's what I learnt during 2012.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Stripping Affiliate Window Bare

It's Christmas (didn't you know?) and that was as good excuse as any for Affiliate Window to produce a Christmas calender to raise money for their chosen charity, the Encephalitis Society. Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain, caused by an infection invading the brain or through the immune system attacking the brain in error. The charity provides support to those affected and their families, as well as to the professionals supporting them.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Not all Doom and Gloom - Affiliate Investment Grows

A report was released yesterday from the IAB with some great news for the affiliate industry - investment from brands in their affiliate programmes has seen a remarkable uplift of 45% according to a recent survey. Personally, I had expected the recession to have the opposite effect and whilst that might be true in some sectors (where commission levels continue to be cut), this survey has determined that's not the overall trend.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Over the past year or so affiliate marketing has gone through a transformation (you might have seen it). Change can sometimes be good or bad (or both) but one thing's for sure, I'm not going to be calling myself a "performance marketer" any time soon.

With more of the larger affiliates becoming suited and booted, the industry seems to be on the move again. From the sounds of it an ever increasing number of smaller affiliates are leaving the industry altogether thanks to dwindling returns, lack of care and passion as well as external factors (such as reams of Google changes).

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
Fancy Winning a Holiday to Rio?

Every year for as long as I can remember, Red Letter Days rolls out a killer Christmas affiliate incentive, outshining pretty much any other incentive run this time of year. It's usually topped off with a prize of a holiday to a far and distant land such as Bali or Beijing. Well, it's clear where the inspiration for this year's top prize has come from (think about the handover ceremony during a certain major sporting event hosted in England's capital during the year MMXII - how was that for not mentioning it by name?!). That's right, this year Red Letter Days is paying for someone to visit Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil!

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
A Weekend Cornish Break Courtesy of Red Letter Days

Back in June Red Letter Days ran a set of weekly affiliate incentives to celebrate their 23rd birthday. The incentive was nice and easy - add a banner to your website and be in with a chance. My prize was an Overnight Beer Tasting Break for Two in Cropton, North Yorkshire. Thanks to the fantastic online system RLD use we (wifey and I) were able to exchange this for a couple of nights in Cornwall instead.

Read the rest of this article and comment on it over at David Fiske.com.
