Most homeowners commonly approach me and ask, “What is my home worth?” There are a few ways for you to find out. Today, I will discuss a few steps you can take.

Ask yourself what similar homes around you have sold for. This is a great starting point. However, any additions or upgrades you’ve made on your home should also be taken into account.
Seek a competitive market analysis. This can provide an accurate value of your home in just a single action.
Hire an appraiser to look at your home. This is not always necessary, but they can provide numbers to make the investment worthwhile.
Price based on competition, consumption, and condition. I call them the three Cs. You need to know how many homes are in your price range, understand how many homes are selling a month, and compare your home to others on the market with honest expectations.

Why are you even buying a home? Is it for financial reasons or do you want your own space?
Where are home values headed? You want to make sure your home is going to appreciate in value. A home is a major investment into your future. In 2016, homes are expected to appreciate by 4%.
Where are mortgage rates headed? It looks as if they're rising, so I suggest you buy a home as soon as possible.
