I had the pleasure of shooting this photo session back in the middle of November, but life’s been a little crazy and I haven’t had a chance to share them on the blog.  I wanted to make sure I got them posted before Christmas, because this little beauty makes a perfect Christmas baby! I recently created the 2012 Diesel Planner on Blurb.com. This planner features photos of our beloved Great Dane, whom I photograph often. I was sooooooooo excited when I just noticed his planner made it into the Blurb Books of the Week: Weekly Planners that Insire! We missed the chance to make this dog famous!

The other morning I was up at the crack of dawn, which isn’t really my thing but I’m glad I was up that early so I could capture the amazing sunrise view from my in-law’s place.  I just walked a few hundred feet to the top of the hill, and this is what I found! Isn’t it amazing?

I think this is one of my new favorite photos! I just love the soft muted colors of the sky in contrast to the dark land.  Love it!

This was a view of a thunder cloud Monday evening as we were driving home.  It was so crazy to see this massive cloud all by itself off in the distance.  The sun was hitting it just right from behind us!

My husband and I will be moving to Vermont soon, and as excited as we are for our new adventure in life, I have developed a close relationship with so many of my clients here in Huntsville and will miss getting to photograph their families as they continue their journeys through life.  So yesterday was a bittersweet photography session for me as this was the last photography session I scheduled here in Alabama.  I met Jenny when we moved to Huntsville in 2007 and we’ve developed a close friendship over time.  I cherish what a kind and fun person and mother she is.  Jenny and Ryan have had me photograph their family when they were a family of three and many times throughout the growing stages of their beautiful twin babies.  Eli & Emilee are now 9 months old and are more expressive than ever.

I’ve decided to max out the blog with this last session and share about three times the amount of photos I usually put up with each post.  Enjoy the cuteness…

Getting two twins to smile at the same time when they are 9 months old is not the easiest thing to do.  I think we got some nice shots of them together, but one is usually happier than the other.  I think they plan it that way in advance to have a little fun of their own

Ethan is so proud and he loves to jump in and be involved with the twins.  They sure got lucky to have such a great big brother!

Oh, and she totally got busted doing what I hear she does all the time….finding anything and everything to put in her mouth.  Those blades of grass were just calling her name.

I will miss this fabulous family of five and having the opportunity to photograph them as the twins go through so many fun stages.

This heartfelt session was focused around one special Mom!  Laura contacted me to do a session with her mom and brother, who was planning a surprise visit into town for Mother’s Day all the way from New York City.  This mom was successfully surprised with the visit of her son, getting to spend Mother’s Day with both of her children.  What more could a mom ask for, right? Well, photographic proof is always fun too!

I met up with these two cuties at the Green Mountain Walking Trail.  It was a gorgeous day and such a fun afternoon getting to know Raina (three) and Ben (one).  They were such happy little campers.  Ben wanted to put anything he could find in his mouth, so we had to battle for his attention against twigs, leaves, and rocks.  Raina on the other hand was a model in the making.  She has such beautiful natural expressions and isn’t her red hair lovely?!?!

I did a session for this family last fall.  I absolutely loved working with them, so I was beyond excited when I was told they were getting married and wanted some family & wedding type shots after their special day.  They were married downtown at the courthouse and celebrated with a small reception of their closest friends and family members.  I got to meet the bride’s dad, brother, and sister-in-law at this session.  Charlie, who’s still four, was just as entertaining as I remembered from our first session.  I am very excited for this special couple and all the love they will share for a lifetime.

I’m so happy I got to meet the family and they were able to come for the wedding and share in all the happiness and love.

On Saturday I met up with such a fun and outgoing family.  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to take photographs in downtown, Huntsville.  Not only were mom and dad gorgeous, but their two little girls were highly entertaining, fun, and giggly.  I probably sound like a broken record by now, but spending time with amazing people whom I haven’t met before is one of the best parts of being a photographer.  It’s such a special feeling to have an instant connection, feel like you’re just hanging out with friends, then provide them with beautiful images to remember their family as they are today, for an entire lifetime.

When I was contacted to do this session, I couldn’t think of a better reason to plan a family session.  There are so many reasons people put off having family photos taken, but making sure you have special moments captured with those you love most is such an important part of life. Laura’s Dad and Step-Mom were in town visiting, and she wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to make sure she had some wonderful shots of her and her husband with them.  She wanted to make sure she had shots that will last a life time and she can look back on and smile.  I think that is just what she will do when she looks at these photos.  These four people were lots of fun to hang out with.  We had lots of laughs, jokes, and big smiles all around.  I feel so lucky to be a photographer.  The best part is meeting wonderful people, inserting myself into their lives, even for just a few hours, and feeling happy and fulfilled when I walk away.  Looking through the photos of this session, I had a big smile on my face the entire time, and I truly felt happy.  That’s what photography is all about.  You want to remember good times, fun memories, laughs, and mostly, your family.  So my message to all with this post is to celebrate life.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful Spring day in Huntsville.  I’m in love with the shots with the cherry blossoms in bloom behind them!

Thinking about our trip to Ireland back in 2006, I thought I’d share some favorite shots from the trip in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.  We will be having corned beef & cabbage (using my mom’s awesome recipe) and a pint of Guinness or two this evening.  Although these photos are not ‘new’, they are memories.  The reason we take photos is to preserve moments so you can relive them years later.  So that’s exactly what I’m doing today.  I hope you enjoy a few scenic images of Ireland to start off your St. Patrick’s Day.

A walk from our B&B produced sightings of old castles. 

The Cliffs of Moher is an amazing place where you realize how small we are and how grand nature is! We watched the sunset here and enjoyed listening to the waves lap against the cliffs.

Kinsale is a cute fishing town.  I loved all the colorful houses and sailboats on the water.

We followed a ‘carriage road’ in our small Ford hatchback for many miles until we started wondering why we were getting strange looks from people who were walking past us.  After we exited the ‘carriage road’ we looked back and saw a sign that said NO AUTOS.  Whoops.  It started out as a real road though, promise!

Our trip to Ireland was amazing and one I look back on with joy.  I am happy I got to visit Ireland with the love of my life, and come back to share our stories and experiences with my Grandpa before he passed away.  He was the most wonderful Irishman I’ve known, and I know it made his heart smile to know we explored such a beautiful country near and dear to him.
