Day2: Waitomo Glowworms & Ruakari Caves

2016-09-11T15:36:00.000+08:00

Our second day we spent time at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. We initially wanted to do the blackwaterrafting but since it was winter and the water was going to be cold we decided we'd take a look at the other caves in the area. There's three major caves in the area: waitomo, aranui and ruakari. Entrance fee if you take all three caves is 85NZD. You can take a look at their website for more information and packages Waitomo glowworm

In the caves, you'll be guided by a guide and later go on a 30minute boat ride. I wish it was longer...i can't get enough of it. The quiteness and darkness of the experience is calming.

Waitomo means wai(water) and tomo (hole). So it means..water hole. The glowworms caves is amazing!Unfortunately no photography can be done in the cave due to it may disturb the worms and their glows. but seriously...it's like stars in a cave. You've seen it right, those pictures with the blue dots on top. Yep...Gorgeous! These worms are unique to NZ and not found in anywhere else.

I do however have this picture of the worms thread. This was taken in the ruakari cave...where it's more photo friendly. the glowworms are beautiful but they're actually quite sinister beneath those pearl like beauty. those threads that you see, are actually to trap insects for the worms. Yup....they're carnivorous worms. yikess.

The caves in waitomo area are from limestone. Apparently according to the guide, all of that area was once beneath ocean allowing the limestone formation...i think that's what they said. haha.

New zealand North island.Day 1 arrival.

2016-09-11T15:10:00.002+08:00

Everyone knows Airasia opened a new route earlier this year.None other than to The land of the long white clouds! yippie!!
So when the sale for the route opened i woke up at 5am .... and kept trying to buy the tickets. Tried 2-3 times and luckily manage to get hold of 4 tickets. =]

So our flight was at 11.50pm last 11th august, transited at gold coast for 75 minutes (funny weh, angkat bag turun airplane jalan masuk scanner then go back up the plane. haha) We arrived at auckland international around 5pm. If you/re wondering ....no you do not need a visa when transiting on gold coast unless you go out from the building,

Auckland really has strict policies on outside products/foods/equipments being brought in. I mean really strict. I admire them for that. For protecting their culture, products and environment. So at the conveyor belt while waiting for our bags, came along 2-3 dogs sniffing the passengers bag. Yup...strict. It came up to my bag and sniff...and went away. Thank god. I had like a dozen pre-pack rice in my bag. haha.

Before you can pass through the immigration, you have to declare the goods that you bring in. NZ doesn't allow home-made food, meats, diary products to be brought in, If you do have, better declare first and they'll see whether it's okay or not. So i declared mine, and after being scrutinized for a couple of minutes, the foods....they passed me. So i asked what type of food that wasn't okay. According to the lady officer, food like home made ones, ones that didn't have ingredient and waren't commercially packed...they will take.

Then my friends went on to handle our rental car which we book from Go Rental. We took an auto toyota sedan with full insurance (no need to worry about the car getting scratch what not). Search for a prepaid simcard with data....there's a couple of telco in the airport but i chose Spark offering 1.5gb data for 29NZD, Yup ..data in NZ is expensive but i had to buy one incase we got lost or something came up.

The GoRental company picked us up from the airport and shuttled us their office. We were briefed about the car and rules of driving in NZ, paid the remaining balance and off we went. It was already around 7pm by then and since it was winter, it was dark. But before we headed to my cousins house for the night..we had to stock up on some groceries for our 11 days there. So we search for the nearest PaknSave. Really ...this mart is the cheapest compared to the others. And actually if you're driving around auckland, you will encounter paknsave almost about everywhere as we soon found out later.

Je'taime Paris. Part 1

2016-02-01T21:30:00.000+08:00

Note, this trip was done 7 years back. It's just a recall of what where i went for my own readings in future. Pictures can tell a thousand tale ya, but i'm only 30 now and i've already forgot bits and pieces of the places and things done. 😅

I visited, toured ;) Paris during Ramadhan. Yes, we went on trips during the fasting month. because there was like owh so much time we had during our one year abroad. Not.😏
So we had to utilize whatever little time we had. Most of our batchmate decided to go to Italy at that time but the three of us, me Yana and Ju decided ...nah, we'll go to Paris instead. Yippie.
We book tickets through Ryanair....'your one and only low cost carrier'. tararet taret...haha. The price of the ticket was dirt cheap. Costing us not more then 10 pounds at that time. Which roughly equals to rm60-rm70. I don't know if they still exist, i guess they still do. But i have to say this, their price is unbelievable cheap, especially when they have a 5pence promotion. 5pence!!

Okay back to the trip.
We went there for four days. On the first day, our flight arrive at Paris Beavauis (did i spell that right) at dawn. We were fasting and all we ate for breaking fast was 2 twiggies in a tunnel heading to a metro station. So much for our planningkan. Kihkihkih, Owh yes, from the airport there are busses that go into the city, Paris BV is on the outskirt of the city so you have to take a bus or a cab.

Our hotel, the Bervic Montmartre was in the 18th 'arrondissement' meaning district and near a metro station, Barbes-Rochechouart. Paris metro line like any other major city has several different lines but once you familiarize yourself with it, it's easy.
This area, the 18th arr. has quite a population of muslims, so we chose that area thinking it would be easy getting food 😀. So when we reach our hotel and checked in, we jalan2 pusing2 the area looking for food to break fast. Haha.. All food shops were close. They went for tarawikh kot..the only one that was open was a fast food joint (forgot the name) and a turkish joint. So we entered the turkish shop looking around for ANYTHING to buy and eat. But all that was left were sweets/desserts. 😅

I think the shopowners wife realise we were hungry... she kindly gave us some pastry like food. Heheeh. Sekbaik, if not tido with empty stomachla.

To be continued....

2015-01-17T15:26:00.001+08:00

Last friday lunch break, as any friday grand nefro round, ended close to 1pm. I hurriedly collected my bag from my office and headed to my car....excitedly planning like what all ladies do during a 2hour lunch break (shopping, eating, tido...wateva la.haha)

Walking down the stairs, upon reaching the ground floor...i saw an old lady all alone (grannie to be exact) finish talking to a staff and heard her say

'Xpolah...cubo tanyo adik ni ha pulak'

Translation-->{it's ok...i'll try asking this yound lady here}

Me dlm hati...alamak, apehal lak nek ni.

Grannie: nak...somi wan masuk wad ni nak. Dia buat HD kat mawar.malam tadi dia masuk hosp ni ha.

Me: err...name dia ape nek

Grannie: Azfar bin ****

Me: oww...nek tau tak wad mane?

Grannie: rasonye 3B...somi wan ckp dia nk poi HD dah...wan xtau nk poi mano ni.

There was another staff nearby...she asked the same question...to which the staff said the same thing ...err, ermmmm.

Me dlm hati...i know where the HD site is leh jek kasi direction but x bwk wan ni kang confirm sesat....plus xtau lak suami dia katne ni, kat wad lagi or dh g HD. The other staff went on her way.

Me: mehla wan saya bawakkan.

Wan: ye nak..

Me: jap saya call 3B jap, tgk tok ade tak.

So i called the ward...and enquired wether tok was still in or already went to HD....the staff nurse informed he was already at the dialysis centre

Me: ok wan, jom...tok kat pusat HD

Wan: yo ke..ok jom2.

So we walk over to the centre which was at the far back area of the hospital...ceruk hujung.

Me: sape anta wan hosp?

Wan: wan drive sendiri

I was like...biar betul wan ni. Nampak dah veryy old, jln pun slow ( i had to walk small steps to match her pace....senang lupe akan kudrat org2 berumur ni)

Me: wan drive sendiri??! Umur wan brape?

Wan: wan dah 75 dah...wan slalu drive....kalau nak anta tok g dialysis 3x seminggu..wan la anta

Dia gelak gelak sikit ....

Me: wan nampak lagi ke?

Wan: nampak2....alhamdulillah nampak lagi. Cume direction je lah wan xtau sgt. Senang sesat..

Direction....wow wan speaking.heheh

Me: ape rahsia wan eh?

Wan: ni ha...mase pantang tu...pantang betul2.

Me: owww. Ade brape anak wan?

Wan: ade four ....heheh

So we reach the dialysis centre....and mmgla, org nak lunch kot kan....info x betul diberinya. This tok-wan's husband rupenye still at his ward 😂

Ape jadilah kalau i just sent her on her own tadi after kasi direction.

So dh tau tu ...we went up to the ward.on the way....

Wan: nak ni org mane?

Me: saya org sini jek... Dok rasah.

Wan: oww, wan dok kat pj perdana. Kat paroi sane tu (i've never heard of it...org somban pun xtau.heeee)

Wan: nak makan ikan sembilang tak?

Me: makan jugaklah...dia mcm ikan keli gak kan.(haha...budak x kenal sembilang)

Wan: a'ah....rumah wan kat jelebu ado byk ikan sembilang

Me: owh ye...eh tadi wan ckp kat rumah wan kat paroi.

Wan: tok ko tu, mase buat dialysis ni dia x larat nak poi jauh2 jelebu tu. Wan dok lah sini kadang2.

Me: owww..

Wan: nak dah kahwin belum (soklan wajib from strangers to me 😝)

Me: belum lagi wan...

Wan: (silence)

Wan: anak wan dr gak...dr haiwan, keje kat kelantan nu.

Me:owww, saya farmasi wan, bukan dr.

Wan: xkisahla...same je tu.

Nak naik lift ...there were 3 chinese ladies...hurriedly entering and speaking in chinese. This wan pun join in the conversation. 😜

Me: wan ckp cina gak?

Wan:sikit2 adelah....er, ei, san , sek....(ala satu dua tiga tu...x reti eja.haha)

Me: tererla wan...hhehe

Wan: biase2 saje nak..

Dh sampai kat ward...and she found her tok...after hugging him tightly...

Wan: ni ha...cik ni tolong bwkkan- she said to tok.

Wan: hajah patimah...name wan hajah patimah. Carilah wan...kat jelebu, kat tmn pj perdana....hajah patimah. Byk ikan sembilang skang ni.

Me: ok wan....

Wan: cari wan eh nak....

Me: iA wan...

She hugged & kiss my cheeks.

I waived them goodbye.

Came across this article online...enjoy the journey, even if you know it's not going to be forever. Yep...

'My heart has no logic for who it chooses to love. No reason why. Its only function is to love. My heart always convinced my mind to stay, love them anyway, enjoy their company and to see the story through.

So when i met someone, even if i knew i couldn't have them forever i enjoyed the time we had together. I loved them for the moments that we shared and the joy that they brought me and it was the memories that i kept.

Every story must end that does not mean you should not enjoy the journey.

Someday i will choose to love someone who chooses to love me one day at a time and before we know it we hAve spent our whole lives together, and only in death will we part. Until then my heart will love who it loves, even if i can't have them forever.'

This is just snippets of the article.

2014-01-26T22:44:00.000+08:00

Two years ago after finishing my PRP year ...that's 'pre-registered pharmacist' (kinda like houseman), i was assigned to be a store pharmacist. The most dreaded place a pharmacist could hope to be stationed to (for some people).

I wanted to reject at first ..but my little heart and friends said to give it a go. Try it out..i could easily request a transfer if it didnt suit me (haha...easily). So i gave myself six months...

Six months turned into a year and in a blink of an eye...two years had pass.

Working there has thought me to manage and prioritize more effectively. To be a better leader (although i still have lots to learn in this area) and a better team player. To be open to new ideas and guidance from people way more experience than i am and be humble even though there's 20 people under my care.

So After countless 'dayAh...

'...ubat dah habis.nak beli urgent!'

'...ubat nak expired..offer please!'

'...doktor taknak generic..nak original..nak ckp ape?!'

'....doktor nak start ubat x,y and z stat.beli cepat...2 minggu boleh?!'

'...nak harge ubat x,y, z plz'

'...statistik ni tak tally...plz explain!'

'...feedback laporan X,y,z dah forward belum?'

'...ubat ni dh lame xde (tender problem) patient dh mrh2...nak ckp ape kat patient.ape plan korang?!'

'....pinjam ubAt bolehhhh??'

from my dear pharmacy colleagues from far and near....and

'Puan...ini ubat tak berkesan langsung..buang dlm longkang sAje!'

'I want original....ORIGINAL!!'

'I need my drug usage stAt..and my dept budget balance stat!'

from dear doctors...

And Cik dayah...

'.... Ubat x,y,z dah habis. Saya tak perasan'

' ...ubat X nak expired..lagi 2 minggu'

'...fridge rosak!'

'...suhu fridge naik!'

'...insulin sampai...fridge dh penuh/fridge rosAk!' (Goes hunting for an empty fridge in the hosp and found none!)

'...stok sampai...takde tempat nk letak!'

'...mlm tadi hujan lebat...stor dh leaking!'

'...pc ni rosak...sistem ni down...

from my dearest staff...

And me to other hosp store colleagues

'Pinjam ubat bolehhhh???' :p

'Mcm mane nak buAt ni??'

'Nak tak ubat x,y,z???slow and nAk expired!'

and suppressing the urge to fire back at auditors....kkm, adaf, finance ministry, iso, etcetc. Failed sometimes and had to apologize to the auditor when i was being arrogant...so said the auditor (but seriously, auditors shouldn't be influence by the auditee's questions and reaction)

Although feeling sad about leaving ....I think i'm ready to move on now. Heeee.
