I'm renaming this to "Memories of R.O.S.E." since I am no longer playing Rose. (Damn, I almost added a "for now" to the end of the previous sentence, but I managed to stop myself after considering for a split second how unlikely that would be.)

I have gone from Flyff to Gate to Heaven to d.o. Online to Lineage II to Conquer Online to a 15-day free trial of Seal Online (admittedly, some were played more fleetingly). After playing Rose, I have never ever said any other game was good, but Seal has managed to change that. O_O

At lvl 13.

Some sneaky monster just hit me from behind!

The results of being in an area with far too difficult monsters, all in the spirit of exploration.

Previous shots were in 3D mode; the rest are either in Cartoon or I-forgot-what-other-mode.

Seal is rather similar to Rose and, dare I say... even better in some ways?

There are more quests.
There are more NPCs with dialogue that makes the story element of the game stronger. (I'm a sucker for storylines.)
Characters can have pets.
Characters can be in relationships which gives out rewards the longer a couple is together in-game.

I had played the Japanese version just to try it out. It's P2P with a free trial that lasts for 15 days. Some other versions are actually free now but I'm not playing those due to language barriers or some other shit.

Instead, I am waiting for the English version of Seal Online to come out with an open beta some time before the year end.

Anyway, according to the posts in Roseguru, the IRose server closed down on August 31 2005 at 11:01 p.m. (GMT +8)

Kerene on Roseguru posted a notice that was on the IRose site:

When I first read this, I was like "Wah, I didn't know there was a Chief GM." Yeah, I should've been shocked except that I didn't find out that IRose closed from that notice or Roseguru. Rather, Kupfel found out and I heard it from him.

Apparently, the notice first appeared on 29 August but was taken down shortly after. Then it was up again.

Here's some choice tidbits from Roseguru...

Zef's post after the notice went up: "I recommend jumping online if you're not already. Total anarchy. PK everywhere. Get jumped when spawning in CF. Best way to get PK is to say something about losers who bought stuff on ebay."

More laughs at the6thmonkey: "i was playing roseon and i hot lvl 66 when i heard that horible news and my friend was lvl 68 at first i tried to figure out what was going on man angeryness. we were so happy bout the 2nd job the look on our young innocent faces would have brought a tear to the eye of a murder on death row....." XD

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, so the notice went up, then later the site went down, and when the site was finally up again, it looks like it does now; just shows the links to different versions of ROSE in other countries.

The Current State of Things

I haven't played Rose in quite a while now.

A few days ago, I was still playing Lineage II on the KittenKatKlub private server...

But now, I'm on to Conquer Online. O_O

It's... all right. But it's not as madly addicting as Rose was, nowhere near that at all.

Anyway, based on RoseGuru, it seems that there's a PvP hack that allows peeps to attack anyone in town. The hack was released on Gamerzplanet.

And... Oh hell, shall copy & paste, since this guy, Faseli on RoseGuru, seems to have summed it up well:

LOL, it's worse than ever before.

The value of the Vital Jam +5 has skyrocketed to double what it was before.

Mana Jams have gone down from billions in value to only roughly 7-10 million.

Mask of Lies and several other Union items have been duped/exploited to hell, significantly decreasing their value.

Since duping has been a lot harder as of recent, the prices of even duped gems have gone up slightly.

And, that's not all, about a week ago unique duping exploded to new heights before it was patched, so you'll surely be seeing hundreds of people with uniques.

To my knowledge, there are now more Shining Fingers than either Chakrams or Zamadars; more Bows of Sagittarius than either Bows of Artemis of Bows of the Fairies; more Fausts than Gatling Multi-Launchers; more Firangi-Firangis than Falchion-Gladii or Falchion-Firangis; more Chronicle Staffs than Lunar or Shining Staffs; more Crystal Wands than Coyote or Dust Wands; et cetera. So, obviously, all level 3 uniques were duped, and many clans are responsible for putting uniques in the hands of their members and the public (naming them would be pointless as it doesn't matter anymore, and would get me on their KoS lists).

There are less hackers than before; most people playing exploit bugs that allows one to do something such as dupe, and if not that, leech from the hackers/dupers and the fruits of their lack of labor.

Unless you've spent a considerable time on a character, have a unique/billions of zuly, or connections of your own; iRose is certainly not worth putting much effort or time into at its current FUBAR state. It's in a sad state, unfortunately with no foreseeable reprieve from the top-heavy economy and partial nudity.

The issue of IRose and GamesRouter's contradictory statements have yet to be resolved as well. (GamesRouter: IRose will close; IRose: IRose will not be closing on mid-August as being said; someone's reply from GamesRouter again stating IRose will close...)

GamesRouter's people are being dodgy about the whole thing as well on their own forum.

So yeah, just repeating the conclusion that the game is quite fucked up at the moment. Sadly so, in fact. T_T

And then...

Step 1:

Click on the orange button.

Step 2:

Click on this in the left.

Step 3:

Click on the left radio button then the light blue button.

Step 4:

Fill in all the fields then check your Account ID with the blue button.

If the ID you entered is new (not used by anyone else), you will see this:

Click on the confirm button.

Step 5:

Click on the left one to confirm all information entered.

Step 6:

Remember this

and keep clicking on it when you see it. It will bring you to the end of the registration process.

I was in Rose for a while yesterday, and I saw...

He's wearing Seraph Wings, and the armour, erm, don't bother. It insults the wings!

There was also 300% EXP and (and perhaps 150% item drop) event which apparently started right after the patch and it lasted for quite some hours.

Nothing very interesting so on to screenshots. ^_^

The Christmas Tree has blinking lights. XD But it's really just a huge, fancy Bonfire.

I can never get over how good the sky looks in Rose... *sigh*

And this is effect 244 I think. (Type /effect 244 and press Enter in Rose.) Purely an effect that shows only on your own screen and doesn't do anything, but cool nevertheless. Use other numbers to see different effects.

I haven't entirely quit Rose yet, just going in less.

I've been playing Diablo II: Lord of Destruction again, but not on Battle.net. And recently, Lineage II:The Chaotic Chronicle as well. The second one's on a private server, so e-mail me if you wanna join in. =p

Replaying Diablo II made me remember why it was such a good, addictive game.

As for Lineage II, I've only been playing it for a day or two, it's... all right so far.

And of course, they aren't quite as satisfying as Rose. Damn it.

It all started with this at Junon Polis' Storage:

Ironically, there weren't that many at first. All those only appeared right after Kupfel said "he ain't spawning enough to make this fun =/". And uh, I have no idea what that "Free Willy, Don't Kill Nemo" shout was about.

And look, they have no names.

White Gem Stones and Yetis were summoned too. I don't remember what else. Pictured below are Yetis, a Blue Gem Stone and a couple of dead muses.

And later that same day, I went for union war.

Looks like your usual union war?

Not.

Not when Budeaters appeared:

It's like a normal monster that will take off 3% of your EXP if you get killed by it, and it attacks both sides, both defenders and attackers.

Strangely, after the war ended (with everyone still in there, and all names in white, just before getting teleported back to Junon Polis), you can't attack the monster anymore, just as if it were a normal player. ^^;;

And the weird thing is, in the full screen screenie of the war, there's actually one Budeater with its name in orange to me. Very weird. O_o Also weird was the fact that the name of the war area was missing from the map. It usually says "Junon Cartel".

I heard Behemoth King and Jelly Kings appeared too, but I missed them.

And uh, I didn't miss the Red Elementals though. They didn't miss me too. I was too busy running away from them to take screenies. Those things... really hurt. And there were so many of them.

Straight out of the union war and I see this:

Anyway, there was then a shout saying that there was some sort of event in Righteous Crusader Training Ground.

There were Turaks.

Tried attacking one with bluebird tanking. Arf, Turaks have horrible AOE attacks that faints one. At 15XX HP, one AOE attack from it leaves me with about... 300+/- HP? After getting fainted, it does another AOE attack, and it's bye bye 3% EXP.

Kupfel said there were many more at the northern spawn point, so I went over to take a look.

It was here...

that I died. And look at who's about to zoom past in his Sporty Cart. T_T

Being dead this close to this spawn point meant spawning there too. -_-;;

And I was dead a second time. But it gave me ample time for good screenies.

And after successfully getting away...

Yeah, there were so many of them.

Turaks, Red Elementals and Budeaters are currently not found anywhere in-game in IRose. I don't know about KRose and JRose though.

Teh hacker GMs spawned them here, and I must say it's made the game more fun.

Talk about déjà vu.

Being in Rose and behaving exactly like the time right before the reset, i.e. not caring about dying. OK, it still bothers me when I'm about to die, but it's no big deal after I'm already dead.

Anyway, it resulted in:

IRose will close right before European Rose (ERose) comes into service.

I knew I'd quit if there was another reset or if IRose went P2P (Pay 2 Play), but I never quite expected to quit because IRose is closing down forever.

Sure, I can play on ERose, but they're going P2P not long after launching. Besides, playing on ERose would mean starting from lvl 1 again, and that's not any different from a reset.

It all seems so premature. I had thought that I would at least reach lvl 1XX before the end is close. *sigh*

I am currently searching for new games (preferably MMORPG betas) but Rose remains #1, not that there is any point in lvling further.

It's sad, trying out other games and comparing it to Rose. I am so rose-ified that it's hard to adjust to new controls and all, let alone the disparity in graphics.

Another 300% EXP Event + Requests to "GM"s

But it was only for about an hour till...

The grey lil icon with no item name on it is supposed to be clothes that makes one invisible, according to a friend. O_o

300% EXP Event + Lunar Stone & Ice Pole

25 June 2005. Out of the blue, there was an announcement:

I believed it, till I saw this,

and was disappointed.

Then Kupfel went, "rofl, it works". O_o

And so we began lvling in earnest, while there were such annoucements going on...

That one above alarmed us. In party chat, we went, "noooooooo". Then...

I gained 5 lvls in about 6 hours until this...

Bah! Well, at least he said it'd be held another day. Hope I don't miss it. ^_^

And oh, at one point, some weird things occurred.

This box will pop up whenever I clicked on the Vital Water in the left side of the screen to use it.

Clicking on "OK" or "Cancel" simply makes the box disappear, until the next time I clicked on the Vital Water again. This stupid box damn near killed me a few times. I couldn't use any Vital Water until I placed it in the hotkey bar. >_>

Also, I couldn't type a single letter or number or symbol, and attempting to press Enter rapidly a few times gave this:

It was terribly boring not being able to say a damn thing. And erm, I fell asleep when I went to take a short break that was supposed to last only 5 minutes.

Poor Kupfel. >.<

Anyway, here's 3 cool shots of Lunar Stone and Ice Pole (called Ice Bang before reset). Both are Mage skills.

And hehe, a certain someone (whom I just called poor a few lines ago) thought Lunar Stone is the one with the blue effects and Ice Pole the one with the red effects. ^^

No, no, no.

Ice Pole = blue; Lunar Stone = red.

And the pink? When both skills are cast at the same time and they get superimposed over each other. Lovely.

Dead People + Muse No More!

Yesterday, "I see dead people" was the statement of the day when Goblin Guardians were summoned in Junon Polis (near the warehouse), courtesy of uh, GM deebee, who is not really a GM. Sure, he has his name in blue as [GM] deebee, but in no way is he an official GM.

Anyway, I was talking about Goblin Guardians as in the ones that appear in Clan Field, the ones that are much, much harder than the normal version in Goblin Cave.

And look at the end result...

All these people came back to find themselves mysteriously dead in the middle of town where it should be safe from monsters, and instead of some profits made, they lose 3% EXP. ^^;;

GM Deebee made an appearance again in Junon Polis today, and at some point, he started giving people their second jobs in Righteous Crusader Traning Ground. O_o

For a week and possibly more now, no one was able to complete the quest for the second job quest. Everyone got stuck at the stage where you are supposed to get quest item(s) from a Stone Golem. It just... doesn't drop no matter how many you killed. All 4 classes were affected.

Some guy with a Korean name asked for a job change too, and deebee went, "hey, korean guy, you don't expect me to type your nickname, do you?"

That was rather funny. ^^

Anyway, Kupfel got changed to a mage and I didn't. T_T

He got Lunar Stone, and it was really cool and all. Oh my god, I forgot to take screenshots of it as I was enjoying the graphics. Erm, well, later then.

Then this came...

If it takes only 5 bloody minutes, why not spend 20 minutes and fix it for all 4 classes?

All in all, it took more than an hour before the server was finally up. -_-;; Bloody hell.

The Complaint charges Gravity and certain of the Company's executive officers with violations of federal securities laws by issuing materially false and misleading financial statements to the investing public that caused the price of the Company's stock to be artificially inflated.

The Complaint alleges defendants failed to disclose and misrepresented material adverse facts, including that: (a) Ragnarok Online was experiencing a material decline in customer demand and increased competition in the marketplace, which caused Ragnarok Online's revenues to steeply decline; (b) Gravity's mobile animation business was in such a dire state that it was no longer capable of producing a viable revenue stream for the Company; and (c) the Company's statements about substantial growth potential for online gaming were lacking in any reasonable basis when made because Gravity's royalties and license fees (for online gaming) were negatively impacted by unfavorable trends in China which caused a decline of Ragnarok Online revenues.

Too wordy?

Summary for the above two paragraphs: A class action lawsuit was filed in New York on behalf of those who purchased shares of Gravity Co. The lawsuit claims that shareholders have made a loss because of inaccurate information Gravity gave.

I don't know if I read this right (despite having studied company law for one semester before, oh-so-long-ago), but I think Gravity would have to cough up some compensation this time.

More RAM Needed + Junon's King Kong!

My PC only has 256MB of memory. As a result, I get this:

Yes, look at TRose.exe. -_-;; This was taken right after I clicked on the play button and it switches to full screen mode.

Now, this one below was taken during the game:

Where it's close to 0%, I was on my desktop. The two little angular peaks was when I ALT-tabbed between R.O.S.E and the desktop twice. I wasn't doing anything in-game, just seated. And where there's a huge block (like a rectangle) on the right was when I was in-game and I simply ran around. (Not attacking anything, and with no one and no monster in sight.)

God, I need extra RAM. >_<

Anyway, while Kupfel was asleep (at 6+ in the morning =p), I took on this:

Yes, I only got Oil as a drop, but that's not the point!
