Just How Many People Knew About David Tom's Young and Restless Firing Before He Did?

More stunning revelations are coming out following David Tom's (ex-Billy) firing at The Young and the Restless. Recently, Tom stated to CBS Soaps In Depth that, not only was he shocked about getting the axe, so were his former cast members. According to soap agent Michael Bruno, Tom may have been the only one who was clueless!

Bruno, who is Amelia Heinle's (Victoria) agent, appeared on Soap Box with Lilly and Martha where he stated:

There’s a lot of stuff behind the scenes which goes on that you’d actually be surprised that people don’t know. You kind of are like, ‘This is happening, everyone else knows,’ and here’s an example of someone where I knew this was happening, I don’t represent him, and this is a person who’s going to work everyday… and talk about out of line, you kind of go, ‘Shouldn’t he be the first one to know before everyone else knows?’ And this is not the first time.

The Originals Makes Sonja Sohn a Witch

E! News is reporting Sonja Sohn of The Wire fame has joined Season 2 of The Originals. She will recur as a new witch named Lenore on the CW drama.

Lenore will be a new adversary for Klaus (Joseph Morgan). She won’t be the only complication for the hunky hybrid. In the finale, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) gave birth to their miracle werewolf baby. How will fatherhood impact Klaus’ ability to keep his enemies in line?

The Originals returns to The CW in October.

Jonathan Keltz Upped to Regular on CW's Reign

Jonathan Keltz will be a regular on the second season of The CW’s Reign. Keltz gained hearts as Leith, the kitchen boy who had a romance with Greer (Celina Sinden), Mary’s (Adelaide Kane) lady-in-waiting.

Towards the end of the season, Leith helped save Francis’ (Toby Regbo) life. He returned the favor by giving him money, with titles to follow once he’s crowned king.

Unfortunately, it was too late to save his affair with Greer. She refused to break her engagement with the kind and extremely wealthy Lord Castleroy (Michael Therriault). In turn, Leith started courting a mysterious redhead, who turned out to be Lord Castleroy’s daughter.

Reign will return for Season 2 in October on The CW.

Julian/Lucas: Julian (William deVry) eases Lucas’ (Ryan Carnes) mind.

Sam/Silas: Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Silas (Michael Easton) grow closer. Then, Danny’s birthday party brings the drama.

Sonny/Ava/Carly/Morgan: Sonny (Maurice Benard) wants Ava (Maura West) to prove she’s pregnant with his child. Afterwards, Sonny runs into Carly (Laura Wright) and Morgan (Bryan Craig). He updates them on Ava’s current condition. As Sonny asks for Morgan’s forgiveness, Carly has a heated argument with Ava. Eventually, Sonny puts Ava in check.

Nathan/Maxie: Nathan (Ryan Paevey) accompanies Maxie (Kirsten Storms) to a meet with the judge. Later on, the two have a touching moment.

Perkie's Observations: Who is Luke's Doppelganger on General Hospital?

Ava claims she’s pregnant and can prove it. She pulls a positive pregnancy test out of the garbage and shows Sonny. Sonny says the baby isn’t his. Ava admits it could be Morgan’s. Sonny believes it could be any number of men that she slept with, but Ava says she was faithful to Morgan.

Ava says this baby is either Sonny’s child or grandchild. Sonny decides to take her back to Port Charles to his doctor for confirmation. He then swears he’ll still kill her after the baby is born.

Julian tells Alexis that Ric is his boss and that Anna is arresting him, so his family is safe. Alexis doesn’t believe it, saying Ric swore on Molly’s life. She can’t believe Ric would order the hit on all of them.

Julian swears on his own children’s lives and explains that Ric approached him in Witness Protection, determined to destroy Sonny. Julian says he was lonely and wanted his life back so chose to work with Ric. Alexis wonders what she’ll tell Molly.

Ric claims that Julian is lying, that he isn’t the boss. Anna says she has proof that leads directly to Ric. Officers find a gun. Ric swears he’s never seen it before and that it was planted. Anna says the gun matches the one used to shoot Lucas and the shooter in the park.

Ric swears to Liz that he’s not this person, that he’s being framed. He says he worked hard to distance himself from the mob life and is legit. Anna takes him to the station.

Fake Luke explains to Luke how he put his plan in motion, waiting for the right moment to make the switch and got the chance when Luke was taken to Miscavige. He also talks of marrying Tracy. Luke yells at him to leave Tracy alone.

Fake Luke says he’s leaving town, but promises to return and take over Port Charles and obliterate Sonny. He tells Luke that he’s set Ric up to take the fall, including getting Ric’s prints onto the gun.

Olivia finds a drunken Morgan and lets him know that she’s aware of what happened between Sonny and Ava. Morgan blames himself for bringing Ava and Sonny together. He thinks they can make their pain go away and kisses Olivia.

Olivia’s quick to stop it and says she’s not like Ava; she won’t take advantage of Morgan while he’s in pain. Olivia promises the pain will eventually go away.

Liz goes to Alexis to ask for her help with Ric. Alexis says she believes Julian. Liz turns on Julian questioning why he’s setting Ric up and planting the gun. Liz storms out.

At the station, Ric continues to deny everything and swears he didn’t touch the gun. Anna says the gun matched the one that shot Lucas and that it had Ric’s prints on it.

Luke questions who his captor is but Fake Luke refuses to tell.

Disney-ABC Thinks Another Syndicated Tyra Banks Talk Show is The Answer to Their Problems

If at first you don't succeed in syndication, try, try again. Professional pretty face Tyra Banks is taking a second stab at a syndicated daytime talk show; this time with the help of Disney-ABC.

The America's Next Top Model mogul has been tapped to host and executive produce a lifestyle-based chatfest for the Mouse House. The new program is slated for 2015.

“Tyra is an enormous and vibrant talent with widespread appeal and we’re eager to introduce her new lifestyle show that will incorporate her personal message of self-confidence to the syndication marketplace,” said Janice Marinelli, president, Disney-ABC Domestic Television.

Judging from a line below in the press release announcing the venture, Disney-ABC still believes "lifestyle" programming is where it's at in daytime:

Capitalizing on the daytime audience’s tremendous appetite for lifestyle content, Tyra and her team will provide daily takeaway that is innovative, informative, and accessible.

Former Disney-ABC execs Anne Sweeney and Brian Frons blew millions of dollars trying to rebrand SOAPnet as a women's lifestyle network, leading to viewer erosion and the network eventually being gutted. They tried the same thing at ABC Daytime, cancelling long-running sudsers One Life to Live and All My Children. Those soaps were replaced with a pair of "lifestyle" shows, one of which was quickly cancelled.

“The fire to inspire women and help them to blaze new paths fiercely burns inside of me,” said Banks. “I’m excited to be partnering with Disney-ABC to usher in a new era of lifestyle, beauty and entertainment that will inspire women to be the CEO of their lives via honesty, humor and the newest tips and tricks without being intimidating or precious. To my fierce fam of future viewers: I can’t wait to shake up daytime TV together. I have a lot of information to give and still lots to learn. Let’s do it!”

So Banks didn't "shake up daytime TV" enough during her first talk show? You know, the one that performed so poorly in syndication it had to be dumped off on The CW, before finally being cancelled? I certainly felt shook when she brought on Naomi Campbell to spend an hour talking about how mean the supermodel had been to her.

"Tyra is truly unique in that she is both aspirational and extremely relatable to women of all ages," said Lisa Hackner, executive vice president, Daytime & Syndicated Programming, ABC Entertainment Group. “With an extraordinary social media following and legions of fans built over her years on television, Tyra is more relevant than ever. She is the ideal personality to infuse lifestyle content with fresh energy, humor, and the practical information the daytime audience craves.”

It should be noted, Hackner developed the original Tyra talk show for Telepictures. I guess soaps aren't the only daytime genre to continually hire people to do the same thing over and over again.

It's predicted Disney-ABC will try to push Banks' latest endeavor off on the affiliates (especially the ABC-owned and operated ones) that have an hour to fill, courtesy of Katie flopping.

Perkie's Observations: Sonny's Swimmers Strike Again on General Hospital!

Julian tells Anna he answers to someone else, and wants to reveal his boss' identity to her. However, she refuses to make a deal with Julian. Julian informs Anna he’s already spoken to Scott.

Sonny reveals to Ava he has a recording of her confessing to Connie’s murder. Ava claims Carly doctored it, but Sonny won’t listen to her lies. He pulls out his gun with the intent to kill Ava. Ava quickly says there’s something he doesn’t know.

Nikolas talks to Alexis about his feelings for Liz, and how she’s more interested in Ric. Nik admits he wants Liz back, but Alexis wonders if he’s only trying to fill the void left by Britt. Nikolas vows he’ll always love Liz.

Liz and Ric end up in his hotel room. She asks him to promise not to hurt her again. Ric swears he’s a changed man. The two make love.

Tracy tells Luke she knows he’s planning their honeymoon and wants the details. Luke says they’re leaving tonight, but wants the rest to be a surprise.

Kiki visits Michael, and updates him on Ava and Sonny’s tryst. Kiki admits she didn’t tell him sooner, because he was dealing with AJ’s death. Michael tells her not to keep things from him anymore.

Scott tells Anna he’s giving Julian full immunity in exchange for the big boss. Julian confesses his boss' identity, much to Scott and Anna’s surprise. Anna shows up at Ric’s hotel room door with a search warrant. Ric swears he isn’t Julian’s boss. Anna fires back Julian just named him as the head honcho.

Julian has a talk with Luke about naming Ric as his boss. Luke informs Julian he planted evidence in Ric’s room. He tells Julian he’s going on his honeymoon, and expects Julian to run the business. “Luke” goes to Miscavige to check up on the real Luke.

Ava reveals Sonny can’t kill her because she’s pregnant with his child!

General Hospital's Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo) named their baby Gabriel Drake Santiago on Tuesday, with a little help from his big sister Emma Scorpio Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer). While some may wonder why GH would confuse viewers by not giving the little peanut his father's surname, the scenes were adorable.

Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) Falconeri renamed their son Rocco Falconeri, after he was rescued from Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati). The name Rocco received a mixed reaction on the Daytime Confidential podcast. Some of us loved it, and some of us didn't.

If you were one of the millions of Americans who went to the movies over the Memorial Day weekend, you might have seen the FX trailer for the new series Tyrant while waiting for–at least in my case–X-Men Days of Future Past to start.

Tyrant stars Adam Rayner as Barry Al Fayeed, the youngest son of a Middle Eastern dictator, who returns home with his American wife and children after twenty years in self-imposed exile. Imagine my delight at spotting former The Bold and the Beautiful favorite Jennifer Finnigan (ex-Bridget Forrester) playing Al Fayeed's wife and mother of his children.

Alison Sweeney Dishes Days of Our Lives Exit and Breaking Her Departure To Ken Corday

Salem is going to be a bit drama-free once Alison Sweeney departs Days of Our Lives as Sami Brady. Just how is the black sheep of the highly regarded Brady family going to leave the fictitious city? Sweeney gave TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan a little hint as to how her alter ego exits the soap opera after being a part of the canvas for 21 years.

TV Guide Magazine: So let's talk Days. You recently went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and hinted that Sami's exit from Salem wasn't going to be all that dynamic. You want to revise that so it sounds a little more, um, interesting?

Sweeney: Well, it's still a soap opera and it's still Sami, so it's always going to be interesting. She won't just vanish into the night. I had no say over what they wrote, so my only leverage with [executive producer] Ken Corday was to promise that I'll come back to the show if someone gets married or dies, or for Christmas or the 50th. I could not handle it if I was not there for the show's 50th anniversary next year. I very much wanted that door left open and Gary Tomlin wrote a great send-off story that allows that to happen. I will always be a Days champion. I hope Salem is still here in five years and that there's still a job for me. I want that town to be around forever.

Speaking of DAYS' Executive Producer Corday, Sweeney spills the beans on how she gave her boss the bad news of her exit.

TV Guide Magazine: How exactly did it go down when you told Corday you were quitting? Spare no details. Was he pissed?

Sweeney: It was a million times harder than I thought it would be. I made an appointment and went to Ken's office. He is so important to my life and I respect him tremendously. I told him my plans and he was so kind and wonderful and supportive. He said, "Is there anything I can do to change your mind?" I said, "No," and he was very respectful of that.

David Tom Reveals Y&R Fired Him For Being "Too Young" For New Kelly

Recently axed The Young and the Restless star David Tom is opening up about his brief return stint on the show. In an interview with CBS Soaps In Depth, Tom revealed how his firing came as a shock to all. According to Tom:

I think I was definitely well-liked there. As far as I knew, nobody knew about this. Not even the cast.

Tom also discussed what the reason was why Y&R let him go after assuming the role Feb. 3. Tom stated:

One of the reasons they said they let me go is that I obviously looked too young when they placed me with [the new] Kelly [Cady McClain]. Well, she was hired after I was. I don't understand why they didn't think about that [when they were casting her]. We don't really have a storyline [anyway]; She's with Jack. I thought I looked fine with Missy [Claire Egan, Chelsea]. I really loved working with her.

SPOILERS: Chelsea and Billy Team Up For Love On The Young and the Restless

Chelsea/Billy/Victoria: The Abbott playboy is ecstatic about Victoria’s pregnancy. Billy heads off to Victoria’s, and clues her in on the tea Chelsea spilled. Victoria temporarily bursts Billy’s bubble when she informs him her child could be Stitch’s. Billy doesn’t care whose baby it is, he’s just happy Victoria’s pregnant. He swears he’ll raise the kid like it was his flesh and blood.

Later, Victoria heads to Chelsea’s place and tears her sister-in-law a new one about snitching to Billy. Then, Billy shows up and Victoria is green with envy at how close the two are becoming. Victoria storms off and visits Stitch for a shoulder to cry on.

Watch for Chelsea to team up with Billy to get the dirt on Stitch. Chelsea crafts the bright idea for she and Billy to pretend to be a couple to make Victoria jealous. Just what will Adam think about this when he returns?

Genoa City Hospital: Family and friends head to the hospital when a serious health emergency emerges. Watch for fireworks to go off when some stunning news is dropped.

Neil: He and Lily have a nasty confrontation during a Father’s Day event.

Paul/Dylan: The duo, along with Kevin, rush to stop a disaster from occurring.

Sharon: The troubled woman starts to remember little splinters of the night she had her altercation with Phyllis. Sharon rushes to her therapist to talk about what she’s starting to recall, and wonders if Mariah can unlock everything. Sharon’s shrink advises her to steer clear of the con artist, since she’s not good for her mental health recovery. Sharon ignores both Nick and her therapist's advice about keeping away from Mariah, and is certain the Cassie look-alike can solve the mystery.

Austin/Summer: As the two’s budding romance starts to deepen, Avery isn't pleased with the lovebirds. Avery attempts to guide Summer into moving things slowly with Austin, but Summer isn’t hearing it.

Former Bold and the Beautiful Star Ashley Jones To Appear In Lifetime's The Secret Sex Life of a Single Mom

The Bold and the Beautiful alumni Ashley Jones is making her debut as a producer. Jones will star in and produce Lifetime's The Secret Sex Life of A Single Mom.

Based on the book of the same name by Delaine Morris, Jones will portray Morris, a wife and mother whose world comes apart when she discovers her husband is having an affair. Newly divorced, Delaine gets into online dating after being pushed by her friends, and begins a friendship with the online poster, "The Duke."

Under The Duke's tutelage, Delaine starts to see men in her area, and reignites the passion in her private life. Former General Hospital thespian Cynthia Preston also stars alongside Jones. Watch the steamy trailer below!

Young and Restless Newcomer Burgess Jenkins On Billy Abbott Role: "We’re Going to Have a Great Time"

Fresh off the heels of Daytime Confidential breaking the news of Burgess Jenkins snatching the role of The Young and the Restless' Billy Abbott, the actor is opening up about how it all came to be. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Jenkins revealed:

My managers contacted me and said the folks from the show had reached out about the role,. So, I talked with the producers about it and they filled me in on the role and it was apparent to me from the get-go that this was a wonderful character with interesting layers. I met some of the cast and we clicked right away. Not only are they terrific people, but I can tell we’re going to have a great time. I was taken with this opportunity right away.

Perkie's Observations: Alexis Admits She Loves Julian on General Hospital!

Alexis is surprised to find Julian out of jail, and he informs her the judge granted him bail. Julian tells Alexis he’s to blame for Lucas getting shot, and his family is still in danger. He has no choice but to go back to the organization. Alexis advises him to go to Anna, but Julian believes Anna’s feelings towards him will get in the way. Julian worries he and Alexis are through, but she admits she loves him.

Anna informs Dante they’re releasing Jordan, because Dante violated her civil rights. Dante denies it, and Anna tells him the truth about Jordan working undercover. It is vital to maintain her cover. Dante’s angry they weren’t told about the undercover operation, and he must now take the blame for a false arrest. Anna promises to clear his record, once everything is done. She stresses Jordan is out to get the head of the Jerome organization, which isn’t Julian.

Tracy wants Lulu’s help in figuring out what’s wrong with Luke. She explains what happened with Ned. She asked Ned to leave, but agrees Luke is different and has been keeping secrets. Lulu tells her Luke has been planning their honeymoon, and it’s supposed to be a surprise.

Carly wonders why Luke isn’t helping search for Lucas’ shooter. Luke claims the police are on it. Franco arrives, and Carly tells him she spoke to Sonny about Ava. Ric stops by the table, but Carly doesn’t have anything good to say.

Ric runs into Luke, who continues to accuse Ric of being Julian’s boss. Ric warns Luke not to cross him. Luke tells Olivia that Ric is on the terrace having a date, and suggests he be removed from the premises. Olivia isn’t fazed by Ric, and then explains Sonny cheated with Ava. Luke feels Olivia can do better, and hits on her. Olivia assures him that she’ll be fine, and tells him to go home to his wife. Luke warns her not to trust Ric.

Ric meets Liz for their date. The two dance and kiss. Ric wants her to spend the night with him, and Liz agrees.

Shawn visits Jordan in jail, and informs her TJ wants nothing to do with her. Jordan claims she’ll be freed tonight, and plans to continue to work for Julian. Dante arrives, and releases Jordan due to all charges being dropped.

Carly tells Franco all about Sonny's anger, and his vow to kill Ava. Franco’s not happy, since this will affect Kiki. Carly feels Ava is getting what she deserves. Olivia updates Carly on Morgan's current emotional state. Carly is shocked to hear Sonny and Ava had sex, but reassures Olivia it will never happen again.

Ava’s surprised to see Sonny, and can't believe her ears when he says he wants to be alone with her. Ava informs him they won’t be repeating what happened before, and Sonny agrees due to her past actions. Ava wonders what Sonny is accusing her of, and he blurts out he knows she shot Olivia. Perkie's Observations: Sabrina Names The Baby on General Hospital

Carly tells Sonny that Ava has been lying. She plays the tape.

Sonny is in denial. Connie wrote the letters “AJ” in her blood. Carly points out those are Ava’s initials.

Sonny is furious Connie was shot to protect Julian’s identity, even though the truth came out shortly after her death. He can’t believe he shot an innocent man, thinking he was getting justice for Connie.

Carly says Ava was covering her tracks. Sonny nows not to let Ava get away with this.

A police officer stops Julian from entering Lucas’ room. He isn't on the approved list. Luke, who was trying to kill Lucas in his bed, vouches for Julian.

Luke warns Lucas isn’t the only available Jerome family target. Julian says he could just turn Luke in to the police. Luke says he has a long reach.

Luke tells him to come back to work and all will be forgiven. Julian says the operation is in shambles. Luke is certain he can rebuild with Julian’s help.

Lulu questions whether the police have any leads in her cousin's shooting. Dante tells her about the shooter being found dead in the park. Lulu mentions being in the park with her father around the same time.

Lulu tells Dante she made a consultation appointment with Dr Chu. She offers to cancel, if it’s not something that Dante wants. He tells her to keep the appointment. Lulu gets a call from Tracy to discuss Luke.

Kiki wonders if Ava is in hiding so as not to get busted alongside Julian. Ava says she had no idea about Julian’s drug operation. She has been distancing herself and working with Sonny.

Kiki says she knows about Ava and Sonny. Ava says they got caught up in the moment.

Kiki points out Morgan is in a lot of pain. Ava promises to be a better person when she gets back home. She wants to reconnect with Kiki.

Ric asks Liz on a date. He tells her to get dressed up. They’ll see where the night takes them.

Emma gives Sabrina one of her koala bears for the baby, then asks about the name. Sabrina names the baby Gabriel Drake Santiago. She tells Patrick she finally feels hopeful about the baby’s chances. Sonny arrives on the island to confront Ava.

President Obama to Appear on Live With Kelly and Michael Friday

President Barack Obama will make his first appearance on Live! with Michael and Kelly on May 30. Obama will talk with the co-hosts about The White House Healthy Kids and Safe Sports Concussion Summit, which is slated to kick off May 29. Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan will head to Washington to sit with the POTUS in the White House's Blue Room.

Ilene Kristen Checks Back Into General Hospital

Soap legend Ilene Kristen (Delia) is making her way back to Port Charles. General Hospital newcomer Michelle Stafford (Nina) posted a pic on Instagram and said:

"So this chick... The reason I'm an actress today y'all. I watched her on 'Ryan's Hope' when I was young. It's the first time I was really taken and affected by an actress's performance. I loved her and the show so much I got my sister and aunt and uncle hooked on it! When she left i was so upset I stopped watching...So today I shared the stage with Ilene Kristen. Still brilliant!! A true artist!!"

So far, no word on when Kristen is slated to reprise the role of Delia Ryan.

All My Children's Matthew Cowles Dead at 69

Legendary actor and playwright Matthew Cowles (ex-Billy Clyde Tuggle, All My Children) died on May 22. He was 69. Cowles' manager Tsu Tsu Stanton announced his death on Twitter, stating:

Cowles was born on Sept. 28, 1944 in New York City. He was the son of the late Chandler Cowles, part of the Cowles Publishing family.

He started off on Broadway as the lead in the Edward Albee adaptation of James Purdy’s novel, Malcolm. Cowles went on to star in the 1969 series NYPD. He later landed his breakout role as con artist pimp Billy Clyde Tuggle on AMC in 1977.

Cowles netted two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for the popular role he played initially from 1977-1980, reprising in 1984, 1989-1990 and when AMC moved from television to the Internet in 2013.

In 2010, Cowles nabbed a supporting role in Martin Scorsese’s film Shutter Island. He also wrote the plays Mexican Standoff at Fat Squaw Springs, Noblesse Oblige and Our Daily Bread.

Cowles is survived by his wife, The Good Wife actress Christine Baranski, and their two daughters Isabel and Lily.
