Printing Kaleidoscopes onto Fabric

Have you ever used printable fabric? I've been having fun with it making these awesome quilt projects.

I'm not a professional quilter by any means but I do like to get out my sewing machine once and a while and design some unique projects combing Dazzling Reflections kaleidoscopes and printable fabric. Here are a few examples:

I saw this quilt block in a magazine and it was actually named "Sunflower", I took a photo of a sunflower and made several kaleidoscopes with Dazzling Reflections then printed them onto printable fabric. After finishing the first block I decided to make several more blocks and join them together to make a table runner.

This was a practice block I made using assorted scrap blue and white fabric and a kaleidoscope designed from a photo of a hydrangea. The finished size is 12.5" which will be perfect on top of a small side table.

Printable fabric is readily available at most fabric or craft stores and also online. Some are washable some are not so take this into consideration when selecting a brand for your project.

Just got back from a much needed break over the July 4th weekend and wanted to share with you a few free files and projects. The first freebie is a pair of firework themed KaleidoFrames, these are great for a variety of projects and can easily be re-sized to fit your photos. St. Patrick's Day inspired my latest kaleidoscope template and cutting file. It's a cool looking clover template that makes interesting kaleidoscope designs. In the example below I also used some Celtic themed clipart in Dazzling Reflections to make the frame.

We are back from the Scrapbook Expo. in Anaheim. We had a great show and loved visiting with everyone that stopped by. I've had several requests asking us to post pictures of our booth, so for those of you that could not attend the show here's what it looks like.

Here's me getting the laptop ready before the show opens.

Here's an example of a digital scrapbook page designed with the new template.

This template is unique in that it looks like we merged 2 kaleidoscopes into one, but this was made using a single photo.

Valentine Pocket Card

Valentine's Day is less than a month away so it's time to start thinking about making projects. I've started off with this Valentine Pocket Card. It's designed to be cut on a die cutting machine, such as, Pazzles, Gazelle, or Cricut (if using SCAL). The pocket edge is decorated with a beautiful lacy heart cut out design as is the edge of the envelope.

The finished size is 4" x 4" and cuts as a single piece from a sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper. It can also easily be re-sized to suit your needs. The heart insert consists of 3 pieces, the largest having a scalloped edge and the other 2 plain edges.

Here's the front view of the card. As you can see I made a kaleidoscope using Dazzling Reflections software for the front cover.

Here's another view of the inside showing the heart in more detail.

3D Kaleidoscope Diamond Ornament Freebie

Christmas is just around the corner and hopefully most of you are well prepared. I’ve spent the last few days making Christmas cards for a select few friends and family it’s something I enjoy doing and I try to come up with new designs every year. This year I made an ornament card, it’s a card with an ornament that can be detached. I like the design so much I’m sharing it with you today as a FREEBIE.

Yesterday morning I was shopping at my local Michael's store and came across more of the charger plates - these ones were in beautiful colors - Metallic Silver, Red, Purple, and Green and only $1.50/ea! I used a round kaleidoscope image on the purple plate, the rest of them I used the Holiday KaleidoGlobes.

I couldn't wait to get home and work on some new projects, here's the result.

KaleidoGlobe Holiday Plate

This afternoon I started pulling out all the Christmas decorations and arranging my home for decorating. I came across a gold charger plate that I usually put 3 pillar candles on, but looking at it I thought it would be great to put a Holiday KaleidoGlobe in the center.

So I rushed off to my craft room and got my ruler and measured the inside of the plate - 8" - great, I'll print a KaleidoGlobe at 7.5" and it will fit perfect. Here's the result.

This was such a quick and easy project, took me less then 15 mins. start to finish. Basically I printed the KaleidoGlobe on Matt finish photo paper as I didn't want to much shine, then using double sided tape attached it to the charger plate. That way I can remove it when Christmas is over...or maybe not!

A round kaleidoscope would look awesome on this plate as well. I'll have to keep that in mind for another occasion.

Scalloped Edge Kaleidoscope Fall Frame

Every Thanksgiving I like to make something special for my home, this year I've chosen a picture frame with a kaleidoscope mat and verse in the center. The scalloped edge kaleidoscope is a new template from our Simply Elegant template pack that was released last week.

This project really captures the fall colors and the verse by Ralph Waldo Emerson is perfect.

We recently launched our Facebook page and would love for you to follow us, and as a special treat we are giving away the digital kaleidoscope frame image to followers. To get the frame simply click on the Facebook tab to the right of the screen and click "Like" at the top of the page, then follow the links.

Gate Fold Card

This gate fold card was made using the Simply Elegant template pack, template number ksp07. The dimensions for the card are 5.5" by 11" then folded to make the gate fold. 3 kaleidoscopes were printed - 3", 2", and 1", then using double-sided foam tape mounted them on top of each other. A cuttlebug embossing folder was used to add texture to the 2 side panels, then highlighted with a pink ink pad.

A variation of this card could be using 3 different kaleidoscopes from the same template but changing the design.

Just finished making a couple of cards with the NEW Simply Elegant templates for Dazzling Reflections. I used clip art for both of them.

This first one I used silver glitter paper as the mat for the kaleidoscopes and added texture to the red background using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Finished size is 5.5" x 5.5"

This second card I used a nice textured green cardstock for the mat then punched a snowflake design for the center. I used glitter from P.K. Glitz to add the sparkle to the branches, pine cones, and snowflake. This card is also 5.5" x 5.5"
