Dead Gentlemen Productions announces their latest feature film project tentatively titled Demon Hunters: Hell Yeah.

BELLINGHAM, WA – On August 5, 2016, Dead Gentlemen Productions announced their latest film, Demon Hunters: Hell Yeah. Much like Army of Darkness in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise, the project will be a restructured, spiritual successor to the Demon Hunters property originating in their college films Demon Hunters and Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake.  

“We are so energized to bring the world of Demon Hunters back on screen,” said Don Early, Producer & Director. “The movie will stand on its own, and serve as a foundation for future Demon Hunters projects. That said, we wanted to find a way to not only continue the story we started so long ago, but also draw from movies like Army of Darkness & Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors as memorable, enjoyable films without needing to know their previous films.”

The project, currently in pre-production, will star Nathan Rice as Gabriel, a disgraced leader of the Demon Hunters, and Steve Wolbrecht as Chris, the reluctant Demon Hunters recruit. Matt Vancil will pen the script, and Don Early will direct the film. No dates have been set to begin filming, but a crowdfunding campaign is set to begin in early 2017 to help fund the film.

WHO ARE THE DEMON HUNTERS? Since the most ancient days of the world, the forces of evil have gathered minions of all kinds to wreak havoc on the mortal plane. Heaven’s answer was to form an organization of warriors who fight to prevent Hell on Earth. They are the Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch, better known as Demon Hunters.

Demon Hunters and Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake are cult-hit films by Dead Gentlemen Productions, creators of The Gamers and its sequel, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. Demon Hunters has also found success as a web comic and most recently as an RPG filled with action and horror, brought together with off-kilter humor.

DEAD GENTLEMEN PRODUCTIONS began in 1999 with the production of Demon Hunters. Based on that film’s success, they went on to shoot a sequel, Dead Camper Lake, and followed up with The Gamers, Revamping Doyle, House Rulez, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, Demon Hunters: Orientation Video, two editions of the Demon Hunters RPG, and a Demon Hunters online comic.

Dead Gentlemen Productions & Zombie Orpheus Entertainment announce the Kickstarter for their new joint project The Gamers: Episode 1 – The Shadow Menace.

BELLINGHAM, WA – On July 5th, 2016, Dead Gentlemen Productions (DGP) in joint partnership with Zombie Orpheus Entertainment (ZOE) launched their Kickstarter campaign for The Gamers: Episode 1 – The Shadow Menace. This crowdfunding project, with a goal of $170,000, aims to create a 45 minute pilot episode of a new series developed for the web as well as wider, mainstream platforms.

What is The Gamers? Fifteen years ago, Dead Gentlemen Productions introduced the world to Matt Vancil’s comedy about tabletop roleplaying gaming where the heroes were ordinary people playing that particularly famous tabletop RPG. The film cut back and forth between the players playing the game around the table and the imaginary counterparts they played in their fantasy world of the game.

At the end of The Gamers, fantasy stereotypes Rogar, Nimble, Newmoon, and Magellan accidentally stepped through a portal into our world, where they defeated their own players. They’ve been stuck here ever since, without direction or purpose. Until now.

A new gaming group has uncovered the group’s old character sheets and the original gamemaster’s campaign notes. Now, the new players will set out to finish the story of the original Gamers, encountering minions of The Shadow who have infiltrated our world while searching for a way to get back home.

The Shadow Menace features the returning talents of Nathan Rice (Newmoon), Justin McGregor (Magellan), Phil M. Price (Nimble), and Matt Shimkus (Rogar), and adds a new group of players:  Anna Clausen (Megan), Jay Irwin (Zach), and Maggie Ferguson-Wagstaffe (Charlie). Two more characters remain to be cast. The Shadow Menace will also feature a special appearance from Russell Hodgkinson (Z-Nation) as The Professor.

“We are excited and inspired to return to the world of tabletop roleplaying games in the same vein that garnered our audience in the first place,” said Don Early, Executive Producer. “I’ve always wanted to know what happened to those characters stuck in our world at the end of the first Gamers movie. Now we get to find out.”

“This is a chance to create some really great comedy, highlighting some classic gaming experiences,” added Ben Dobyns, writer and showrunner of The Gamers: Episode 1 – The Shadow Menace. “Nnot only that, but we begin to tie all of The Gamers movies together towards an epic finale, joining old cast and new.”

The creators maintain that while this series can stand entirely on its own for new fans to enjoy, it is also the next part of the Gamers meta-story, a saga that DGP and ZOE have been telling for fifteen years. This series runs concurrently with the events of The Gamers: Hands of Fate and leads directly into The Gamers 4, which will conclude the adventures of Joanna, Lodge, Cass, Gary, and Leo.

Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors RPG

We finally finished this amazing book, also with your terrific Kickstarter dollars! Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors is a roleplaying game that blends comedy and action-horror in a modern day world where agents of a mysterious Brotherhood confront supernatural threats from folklore and myth with their own extraordinary talents.

The game uses standard polyhedral dice and a variation of the popular Fate Accelerated and Fate Core game rules. Players can get set up quickly and GMs can make use of story-generating charts and tables to create scenarios both scary and side-splittingly funny.

The Gamers: The Series

Thanks to the Zombie Orpheus Patreon Campaign we are co-producing with Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, The Gamers: The Series. Reuniting the original cast from The Gamers, the story explores what they’ve been doing here in our world for the past 15 years. Newmoon, Nimble, Magellan, Rogar and Mark will have to reunite and defeat The Shadow yet again, as they try to get back to their home realm. This project will bridge many events from the entire The Gamers trilogy so far, with hopes of leading up to the untitled project, The Gamers 4.

You can check out The Gamers: The Series, Season 0 below, which includes the short film mentioned above from The Gamers: Dorkness Rising Blu-Ray Kickstarter. Season 0 will be 5 episodes total (not including The Gamers: To Be Continued), and they will individually focus on Newmoon, Nimble, Magellan, Rogar, and Mark, respectively. The Mark episode will also heavily feature the famed The Gamers villain, The Shadow! The Shadow? The Shadow.

We are in development of Season 1 right now, and you can look forward to a Kickstarter coming soon to help fund it.

What’s next in 2016?

Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors Players Guide & Adventure PDFs

We still have a lot of work to do on two supporting PDFs. The first is the Players Guide, which may or may not be the actual title. This supplement will contain:

• Character archetypes with pre-stat’d Approach & Discipline arrays
• A random Concept Aspect Generator
• More advice on writing good aspects
• Consolidated TL:DR rules from the corebook
• 6 fully stat’d out Demon Hunters teams (Over 30 playable characters thanks to Kickstarter backers!)

The Burnout! Adventure PDF will contain several simplified adventures that have elements that you can randomize using tables in the corebook to help make each adventure different every time you play it.

JourneyQuest Season 3

While we’re not involved with this project, it’s worth mentioning that the long-awaited Zombie Orpheus Entertainment production, JourneyQuest Season 3 has completed a successful Kickstarter, raising over $420,000 in a nailbiting Kickstarter finish! Principal photography begins in April.

Dead.FM

No it isn’t dead. Our “Monthly” DG podcast has been on hiatus since December of 2015. We’ve all been super busy with all the above mentioned projects. Nevertheless, Dead.FM WILL return very soon. We’re discussing new show features and formats, and will hopefully get back on track in the next couple months. So stay tuned. Or don’t. We probably won’t know either way.

The Gamers: The Series

More episodes coming. Kickstarter coming. I’ve already talked about that.

Untitled Demon Hunters Series

No this isn’t Demon Hunters: Red Tape. Although that one is coming, just probably not in 2016. This Untitled Demon Hunters series is currently in development and will be an ongoing show where each episode will be self-contained, “slice of life” type of stories or sketches, within the world of the Demon Hunters. These will be up to about 10 minutes long each. More to come on this.

Gen Con 2016

Don Early and Chris Duppenthaler will be there, along with the Zombie Orpheus crew! We’re hoping to sneak ourselves into Gamers Live!, so we’ll see. We are also running 20 rpg sessions of Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors!!! GM’s are in training now, and depending on demand, we may add more. That means we might still be looking for GMs. We’re offering a 4-day GM Badge to Gen Con if you become one of our GM’s this year. Flight/travel to the convention and hotel are not included, so you probably should already be going. We’re going to be heavily promoting the new RPG, as well as The Gamers: the Series, and everything else I’ve mentioned already.

Up in the air, or possibly 2017

The Demon Hunters Comic – There’s still a lot of art to catch up on, so this comic isn’t returning until the Patreon is caught up, the RPG is totally done, and we have a few pages completed. Draw, Ben! Draw!

Demon Hunters: Red Tape – Believe me, there IS a plan for this and it’s likely going to land in 2017. The story is amazing. The episodes are hilarious. You’re seriously going to love this.

The Gamers 4 – We will begin development after the first season of The Gamers: The Series is complete.

SUPER SECRET 2017 PROJECT – We have begun development on a super secret project. We’re going to announce it at Gen Con 2016. Stay tuned! And by “Stay Tuned” I should probably mean watch our Facebook page because you already know how much I don’t update this site.

I should just carve out some writing time and make this my personal blog. Get ready for food pictures, 80’s nostalgia, movie rants, and reflections on internal longings.

Dead Gentlemen Productions Announces Kickstarter for The Gamers: Natural 20 & Accompanying Board Game in Partnership & Collaboration With Lynnvander Studios

BELLINGHAM, WA – On October 12th, 2015, Dead Gentlemen Productions announces partnership and collaboration project with Lynnvander Studios (based in Ontario, Canada) to create a new film, The Gamers: Natural 20, and an accompanying board game entitled CYBER:RUN. On October 20th, DGP will launch a Kickstarter to fund the new film and game with an initial goal of $120,000 USD. The Gamers: Natural 20 will be a sequel to the award-winning film, The Gamers: Natural 1, a coproduction between Seattle-based Zombie Orpheus Entertainment and Lynnvander Studios.

“I was really impressed with The Gamers: Natural 1,” said Don Early, president of Dead Gentlemen Productions. “It took The Gamers in a whole new genre, and cyberpunk worked really well. It was exciting to see our previous films receive a really cool spin-off. When Lynnvander approached us to do the sequel I was excited to see if we could work it out.”

Christian Doyle and Scott C. Brown will reprise their roles as Gary and Leo respectively. They will rejoin Monica Zelak, Daniel Johnston and Thomas Gofton from the first film, and will add a few new faces as the story expands. DGP & ZOE veteran, Andy Dopieralski, will be penning the script and directing the film. Scott C. Brown and Thomas Gofton will produce the film. Don Early and Thomas Gofton will serve as Executive Producers.

The CYBER:RUN board game is described as is a fully cooperative action-strategy board game for 1-4 players. The game takes place in a corporate headquarters where players must work together, fighting the security forces, hacking security systems, and collecting resources to complete a series of objectives. As the turns pass the game gets more difficult, forcing players to work quickly to complete their objectives. CYBER:RUN is drenched in the humor and style of The Gamers: Natural 20, and includes a series of optional video-clips that feature the characters of The Gamers: Natural 20, and replace many of the game’s cards.

To help announce the Kickstarter, DGP is using a Nouncy Campaign where fans can set their own social media announcements to be released simultaneously.

Dead Gentlemen Productions is a multimedia company based in Bellingham, Washington. Best known for The Gamers movies, the Dead Gentlemen have produced sketch comedy, web series, an improv show, an online comic and two roleplaying games.  

Lynnvander Inc. is a Southern Ontario based company with a vision for storytelling. Founded in July of 2005 by Thomas M.
