Description

Antique French barley twist desk with its original shaved mohair blotter, bronze nail-head trim, beautifully hand-carved details, and a fully functional, full width apron drawer. This desk has one of the best looking bases we have ever seen and it will probably be quite a while before we find another French writing table this good. This desk is in original condition and structurally sound, there is a hole on the top and a chip on the edge which can be seen in the detailed photos. The mohair is very worn but we think it looks great. France circa 184.

Handmade primitive Spanish desk with extensive inlay made from fruitwood. Beautiful hand-cut, crude barly twist columns flank the upper doors and seven hidden drawers can be found behind the drop-down front. The top exterior drawer is faux. This structurally sound piece has undergone very minor restoration, the top lock has been changed but the desk lock is original and hand forged, as are the hinges. Spain circa 1600.

Marvelous hand-carved antique French walnut Art Nouveau desk with original hand-beveled, glazed, bookcase top and its original tooled leather writing surfaces, all in excellent fully restored condition. Art Nouveau furniture is known for its delicate, graceful, flowing lines and this secretary has utilized them all. From its side paper holders to its pigeon holes (letter holders), to the interesting whiplash decorated feet this is an exceptional desk. We have been unable to find a mark or signature of the creator of this piece but it is likely from the French School started by E.Galle, it is very rare that those pieces are signed. This magnificent example should be owned by someone who appreciates great quality and craftsmanship in the rare Art Nouveau style. France, circa 1900.
