Going Vertical with MFTWSC59

Hello, friends!! It is time for another installment of My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club, MFTWSC59. Each week there is a new sketch for you to play along with. You can check Kim's blog for a full list of the MFT Designers providing the inspiration. All the details can be found in the MFT forum on SCS - just look for the most recent WSC thread. Upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC59. You will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. For my card this week, I used Vertical Greetings and Finishing Flourishes. I love these two sets paired together!!!

The papers are new from My Mind's Eye, Miss Caroline - Howdy Doody. I sponged all the papers with Antique linen distress ink. The sentiment from Vertical Greetings was stamped on the label cut from the included Die-namics with that set (which is also available separately here). The three flags were cut using the Mix & Match Banners Die-namics. I cut a portion from each banner to make them a bit narrower (and also elongated the aqua banner). The little butterfly is from Notched Tag Die-namics and the small flower in the corner are the flower centers from Pretty Posies Die-namics layered together. The rolled rose is the smaller of the MINI Rolled Roses Die-namics cut from Puff cloud white felt.

Here is the interior stamped with a few flourishes using Antique Linen Distress ink and a sentiment in Rich Cocoa. The banner theme is continued inside as well with the remaining portion of the banners from the front.

MFT Creative Challenge - Baby

MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where the design team is challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, the theme is "Baby". Be sure to check the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have Baby themed projects today!

I chose to make a gift card holder card for a baby. As any parent knows, gift cards are wonderful for those things you really didn't think or know you needed until baby arrives :)

I used a few stamp sets on this card and lots of Die-namics!! You will notice I didn't use any actual baby themed stamp sets - love to find out of the box uses for stamp sets :) I made an extra long tag using the Tag You're It Die-namics as the focal panel for my card front. I have a quick photo tutorial to show you how to do that at the end of this post. This tag is about 6" long. I then created a pocket for a gift card which is in a sleeve made using the Vertical Greetings Die-namics (I also show how I made the sleeve at the end of this post). The "Special Delivery" is from First Class Friend and the "For" is from Tag You're It. I used chipboard, paper, and Die-namics By The Letters to create the word "baby". The flower is Pretty Posies Die-namics, which I think is such a sweet flower - perfect for babies :) Here is a look at the gift card removed.

The inside of the card features Polka Dot Greetings, shapes from Notched Tag Die-namics and a flower center from Pretty Posies.

Here are the Die-namics I used for this project.

Now I will show you how to create that long tag and sleeve for the gift card.

I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock cut longer than I wanted my final tag to be. Position the Tag You're It Die-namics at one end of the cardstock on your cutting plate. Position the second plate over your die so the bottom edge of the Die-namics is exposed and will therefore not be cut.

After running this through your die-cutting machine, trim off the excess around the top of the tag. Position the die overlapping the cut portion so that the bottom edge is at the length you would like your tag to be. Tape in place using removable tape.

Run this through your die-cutting machine, this time with the top of the tag not part of your cutting sandwich.

This is what you will end up with, a nice long tag!

I also used the Vertical Greetings Die-namics to create a simple sleeve for the gift card. Start with a piece of patterned paper cut 3" x 5". Score along the 5" side at 1-1/4".

Crease and fold at the scored line. Position the folded paper on the Vertical Greetings Die-namics so the fold is within the Die-namics and will not be cut. Secure in place with removable tape and send this through your die-cutting machine.

This is what you will end up with.

I neglected to take photos of the next steps, but it is very easy. Cut a second Vertical Greeting shape from patterned paper and trim one end so that it is the same size and shape as your folded Vertical Greeting. Adhere this trimmed shape to the flap on the folded shape, keeping all edges flush. For a nice secure pull tab, I used a ribbon tab which was sewn in place through a wooden button. Be sure to sew this only through one layer of the sleeve or your gift card may not fit (ask how I know this? -lol). I then used my Tim Holtz tiny attacher to secure the two sides together at the very top under my ribbon tab. This enables the gift card to slide in and out easily while also being pulled out of the pocket very easily.

Hello!! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Welcome to another week and another great sketch from Mojo Monday. This week's sketch, #228, was designed by Mary and it is a fabulous one!!! Here is what I came up with.

The paper is from Echo Park - Yours Truly and the stamps are from Verve. The lined heart, small hearts, and "Love love me do" setntiment are from Love Notes. "You rock my world" is from Small Phrases. I thought these sentiments went great together - The Beatles and rock :) Both of these wonderful stamp sets AND the Jotted Heart die are on sale through February 14th for 20% off. I cut a Jotted Heart from black cardstock and trimmed around the image stamped on white cardstock to create a matted heart. The three banners were also cut by hand. Here is a closer look.

Love You This Big - The Kraft Journal #58

Hello! Hope you had a fantastic weekend. I spent quite a bit of time in my stamp room, a big chunk with my 6 year old creating his Valentines cards for his classmates :) It is Monday and time for another fun challenge at The Kraft Journal! This week's theme is "Color Me Red". I opted to use red as the focal point for my card today.

The large hearts were cut using the Layered Heart Die-namics from MFT. The smaller heart was cut from red felt heart and layered on the larger heart cut from Brown Kraft cover weight cardstock. I wrapped the heart with some fantastic Tim Holtz Ruler Ribbon and Red Baker's Twine from The Kraft Outlet. The sentiment was stamped on Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock. I die cut three of the smallest flowers from the Botanical Beauty Die-namics from Vintage Dictionary Pages and added a center of Brown Kraft cardstock. Underneath all the layers, I tucked a Monarch Border cut from Light Kraft cover weight cardstock. For a finishing touch, I clipped three flags to the top - one cut from Black Twill Tape, another from Natural Twill Tape, and a third in red felt.

I had lots of fun combining all the elements of this kit with this gorgeous stamp set!!! The stick pins were one of just a few things left from my January kit :) I stamped some of the motifs from Vintage Dreamer in strategic places on the kraft background panel. Some I stamped in second generation Walnut Distress ink and the circular element behind the typewriter panel was stamped in second generation Sorbet ink. The typewriter was stamped in Walnut Distress ink also. The ribbon, flower, and pearls are from February's kit. The scalloped border was cut using the Medium Scallop Border die and green cardstock from the kit. Here are a couple detail shots.

Isn't that flower gorgeous!! You will get six in your kit along with 5 yards of various ribbons, and the pearls. Here is another look at the images I stamped.

Hello, friends!! It is time for another installment of My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club, MFTWSC58. I decided to play with Inspired By Lighthouses which I did not get to ink up during our Teaser week. BTW, did you see all the fabulous stamps and Die-namics released last night??? Swoon, if not be sure to check out the Brand Spankin' New area of the MFT store :) Now on to my card with this week's sketch.

I used a very neutral color palette with just a splash of color that the image was stamped on. The papers are from Lost & Found Two - Blush (MME). I used the new Vertical Greetings Die-namics for my image panel. For a mat, I cut a second label in chocolate fudge cardstock, cut in half and adhered to my image panel so that it was peeking out each side :) (There will be a space on the back side between the two chocolate pieces.) To the left of the ribbon flag I used a Light Kraft Die-namics cut stamped with a flourish from Finishing Flourishes in second generation Walnut stain distress ink. The lighthouse image was stamped in first generation. I also stamped a couple flourishes on the background panel. The ribbon is 5/8" brown satin double band grosgrain from The Ribbon Carousel. The jute tied through the wooden button is also from The Ribbon Carousel. Here is a look at the inside with a sentiment from Inspired by Lighthouses stamped on another Vertical Greetings and a couple more flourishes.

MFT New Product Tour - Who's that Girl?

I used a colorless blender technique on her shirt. I first colored only her shirt. Then I took a scrap of brocade fabric, squirted some colorless blender on it, and held it on her shirt to transfer the pattern. I think it looks pretty cool! I then colored her skin, phone, and pants; cut her out and adhered to a square of patterned paper for a background.

The paper I used is a new collection from CTMH - Pemberley. The layout for this card is CPS220 for the 5th anniversary celebration (and is being sponsored by MFT:)). For some interest below the image I layered three of the new Monarch Border Die-namics. The sentiment was stamped in one of the new Chat Bubbles Die-namics - Love these :) I cut three sizes of flowers using the new Botanical Beauty Die-namics and ran them through my Swiss Dots embossing folder. I topped the flower off with the three centers inculding in the Botanical Beauty Die-namics set. I finished the card off with a Leafy Flourish, Fancy Flourish, champagne seam binding from The Ribbon Carousel, and some mocha pearls from CTMH. Here is a peek at the inside.

I was lucky enough to get to work with Make a Memory from Market Street Stamps, and here is what I came up with.

I love that camera image!!! I can see myself using this awesome stamp set for lots of things - especially my Project Life album - that great camera and the sentiments are PERFECT for that!! I colored the camera with Copic markers and cut it out. The image has a wrist strap included, but I created my own using some Silver wired string and a little black pearl :) I even put some liquid glass over the flash for a bit of shine. I used the large film strip from the At the Movies Die-namics cut from Black licorice and Brown kraft cardstock as a backdrop for the camera. The patterned paper is Modern Homemaker (October Afternoon). I wrapped some Black crochet ribbon around the center panel and tied a bow with Black dual striped organic cotton twill ribbon - my last piece - yikes!! I better order some more :) Oh and see that lovely wooden button? I tied some black licorice Divine Twine in a bow through it to secure to my twill bow.

MFT Die-namics Feature & Pep Rally

Now that we've teased and tempted you all week long, it's almost time for you to shop for your favorite Brand Spankin' New products from MFT. But first... it's time for our Die-namics Feature and Pre-Release Pep Rally! This is probably my favorite day of teasers, because I LOVE Die-namics and it is so fun to see the fabulous creations cooked up by my fabulous Design Teammates! I also have a bit of fun getting creative, too :)

Our Design Team has been busy creating jaw-dropping and inspiring projects for you, and we've saved the best for last. We've taken an in-depth look at this month's Die-namics, while re-visiting the amazing sets being released tonight at 10 PM EST RIGHT HERE in the MFT Boutique. And while we are at it, how about we make your life even easier with a "cheat sheet" of all that's new? Head over to the MFT Blog to print out a shopping list.

On to my project today showcasing the gorgeous Botanical Beauty Die-namics.

Now, this little project makes me happy and that is why I paper craft :) And share with all of you, of course! I started out with a shadowbox from 7 gypsies and had lots of fun with a bunch of Die-namics. I used the Botanical Beauty Die-namics to make flowers from paper, cardstock, and felt. The trio of smaller flowers were each made with three of the smallest flower Die-namics. I curled the petals with a paint brush handle and layered them with Jody boosters. The centers are the two smaller ones secured with a brad. I used a few Jody boosters layered together to pop these up on a stitched panel in each of the small sections.

I used My Favorite Felt in Puff Cloud White to make this beauty :) I cut one of each size of the flower from felt and one of each center from patterned paper. I added dimension to each layer with Jody boosters and finished it off with a button and a couple Leafy Flourish Die-namics.

To create my letters, I used the By the Letters Die-namics to cut two chipboard letters and one Chocolate Fudge cardstock letter. I used a brown marker to ink the edges of the chipboard letters and adhered the three layers of each letter together using liquid glass. To complete the largest section of the shadowbox, I layered and stitched a piece of Chocolate Fudge cardstock with patterned paper from Crate's Paper Heart collection. I used more liquid glass to adhere the letters and dotted the 'i' with a heart button. I used foam tape to adhere a border cut with the new Monarch Border Die-namics. The skinny horizontal panel was stitched together and wrapped with some Bubble Gum Pink pleated tulle ribbon from The Ribbon Carousel. This panel was popped up on a double layer of foam tape over the Monarch Border. I adhered the felt Botanical Beauty and flourishes.

Here is another look at all the lovely dimension. Happy to say how thrilled I am with this that I might make two more with the words "love" and "honor" to hang in our bedroom!! That was not my intention at all, but I think I would love to wake up to this! The finished size is just shy of 6-3/4" square.

Hello!! Welcome to another great sketch from Mojo Monday. I designed this week's sketch based on this card here. You know how I love skewed panels - my apologies, Marisa :) Here is my card for this week.

I used one of Verve's latest releases, Wings of Love, and some Fancy Pants paper (Love Story). The heart was cut out with one of the hearts from the Wavy Hearts die set (Verve). I glittered the wings using a thin coat of liquid glass and a sprinkling of Prisma glitter (CTMH). The lovely black seam binding is from The Ribbon Carousel.

LaLaLuv You at The Kraft Journal

Hello! Hope you had a fantastic weekend. It is time for another fun challenge at The Kraft Journal! This week is challenge #57 and the theme is LaLaLuv You. I used this challenge to incorporate a musical element onto my card - sheet music patterned paper from Lost & Found Two - Sunshine (My Mind's Eye). Here is what I came up with.

I started this card using Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, SSSC151. I layered and stitched panels of Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock, Buff Ivory Cardstock, and that yummy Lost & Found Two paper. My panels were adhered to a black card base. I embellished with the smaller of the Decorative Doily Duo Die-namics cut from Buff Ivory cardstock. I cut the Eiffel Tower out of black cardstock using the Eiffel Tower Die-namics. A sentiment from Who's that Parisian Girl was stamped on a Mini Wavy Pennants Die-namics and glued to a Pewter Stick Pin using liquid glass. I added a sparkle flourish and a double bow of black & ivory striped grosgrain ribbon from The Ribbon Carousel.

MFT Teasers Day 6 - Pure Innocence

Hello!! Welcome to Day 6 of teasers for the My Favorite Things February release. Today the design team is featuring five new Pure Innocence stamp sets!!! As usual each of these is just darling!! I chose to showcase the Firefighter Boy set today.

OMGosh!! Don't you just love this little guy??? So sweet!! I think every little boy goes through a fireman stage, and my two sons were no exception!! The layout for this card is from Splitcoast Stampers, SC369. I colored this cutie with Copic markers and cut him out. The papers are from My Mind's Eye - Kraft Funday, Everyday Fun. The red star paper is from Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer - seems I find a lot of use for that pattern! I used the soon to be released Chat Bubbles Die-namics once again. The stars are the Stacking Stars Die-namics, and I used the Notebook Edge Die-namics as a border. Here is a peek at the inside.

The layout from the front is mimicked and the negative of that Notebook Edge was put to use. A sentiment from the set and the fire extinguisher were stamped to finish it off. Here is a look at the Die-namics I used for this card.

Hello!! Welcome to the fifth day of teasers for the My Favorite Things February release. Today the design team is featuring two new à la modes- Girl Talk & Rock Star!! I think both are really hip, and I think you will love them, too! I have a card featuring Girl Talk today.

Isn't she cool? I used some Fancy Pants paper - Love Story. Three new Die-namics are on this card, too - Monarch Border, Botanical Beauty, and Chat Bubbles. For a bit of sparkle, I added a nice big shiny black brad and some white metallic string from The Ribbon Carousel. I rounded a couple of the corners, something I don't do often enough :) Here is another angle so you can see the dimension I added with lots of Jody boosters.

MFT Teasers Day 4 - Vertical Greetings & Ring Me

Hello!! Welcome to Day 4 of teasers for the My Favorite Things February release. Today the design team is featuring Vertical Greetings Die-namics & Stamp Set, Ring Me Die-namics & Stamp Set, and Finishing Flourishes. I have two cards to share today. The first one uses Vertical Greetings & Finishing Flourishes. The new Up, Up, & Away Die-namics which you saw teased on Day 2 also makes an appearance with the previously released Inspired by Up, Up, & Away stamp set.

I thought this sentiment coordinated very well with those gorgeous hot air balloons. And let me tell you the Up, Up, & Away Die-namics are awesome!! I had no problem at all lining up to stamp on my die cut - perfect fit!! One of the flourishes from Finishing Flourishes is stamped in second generation Grey Wool ink (CTMH) above the sentiment for a little interest and to fill that space. The sentiment from Vertical Greetings is stamped on the coordinating Vertical Greetings Die-namics, that will also be available for stand alone purchase. I hand cut a mat for it by tracing the die on some Kraft paper. You can also shorten this Die-namics by using Joanne's Tab Trick tip :) The layout for this card is this week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch, MFTWSC57. Here is the inside of the card.

The hot air balloons are stamped in second generation Cranberry and Pacifica inks (CTMH) to give a behind the clouds kind of look. Incidentally, this cloud paper is from Cosmo Cricket and I have been hoarding it for about 5 years - lol!! I have just 1 12x12 sheet left and scraps! So proud that I put it to use here :) Here are the Die-namics I used for this card.

On to my next card with a retro kind of look featuring the Ring Me Die-namics & Stamp Set. This pair is so fun, & I am excited to see what the rest of the team has done with it!! Here is my first card using it.

How awesome is that phone!!! Brings back lots of childhood memories of the rotary phone that was in our house until my parents moved out!!! Look at the embossed detail! I added a cord using wired string from The Ribbon Carousel, but there is also a cord image included in the stamp set. The graph paper is just plain old graph paper which I backed with cardstock so it wouldn't be so flimsy (and see through). The layout for this card is one of Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketches, SSSC150.

And the inside. This time I backed the graph paper with some of the polka dot pattern paper.

Hello!! Welcome to the third day of teasers for the My Favorite Things February release. Today the design team is featuring Clearly Sentimental about Romance (the current Triple Scoop set which will be available for regular purchase beginning on Tuesday) and Clearly Sentimental about Pets, the Triple Scoop set for February. Clearly Sentimental about Pets will be available beginning February 7th at 10 pm EST for FREE with a $60 purchase!! How is that for fabulous? :) I have a card featuring one of the sentiments from the Clearly Sentimental about Romance set for you.

I went for a masculine card using Times & Seasons paper from Echo Park. The layout is MFTWSC55 from a couple weeks ago. The sentiment is stamped on a label from the Layered Label Die-namics. There is one new Die-namics making an appearance on this card, too. I used the three flower centers from Botanical Beauty Die-namics to make this embellishment. I won't call it a flower, though :)

MFT Teasers Day 1 - Let's Chat

Hello!!! Welcome to the first day of Teasers for the My Favorite Things February release. MFT is releasing some fantastic stamp sets and Die-namics on February 7th, and we have a fantastic week of teasers planned for you! Today the Design Team is featuring the newest Who's that Girl? - Let's Chat. This set is so fun, with some great sentiments and short "texty" words! Here is what I came up with.

I colored her with Copics and paper pieced her top with a pattern from Ooh La La from My Mind's Eye. A couple new Die-namics make an appearance on the front - Chat Bubbles and Botanical Beauty. The Chat Bubbles Die-namics are AWESOME!!! These can be shortened using Joanne's easy peasy cut and re-cut (Shorten your tab) method. The Botanical Beauty Die-namics are large and beautiful!! I have used the two smallest flowers here. I tucked two halves of the Oval Open Scallop Doily Die-namics in behind the image panel and there is also a Die-namics Vintage Flourish peeking out from behind the Botanical Beauty flower. Here is a close-up of the gorgeous new flower. I layered two of the smallest flower on top of one of the middle sized flower.

And another view of the paper piecing. The phone and each of her hands/arms were colored and pieced separately.

Here is a peek at the inside. See the fun sentiment and LOL :) - so cute!! The Oval Open Scallop Doily Die-namics makes another appearance, and there is the new Monarch Border Die-namics which you saw and hopefully purchased in the VIP kit a couple weeks ago :)

Hello!! Welcome to another fun challenge with Sparkle Creations!! SCRS72 is a theme challenge - use the Super Bowl as inspiration (or any football team). You will have two weeks to play along. I think the stars must have been aligned for me to end my Guest Designer appearance for Sparkle Creations with this challenge. You see - "Our" New England Patriots are making an appearance in the Super Bowl this weekend - woot woot!! I colored up Football Josh prior to the Patriots winning the AFC championship. After I colored him in Patriots colors, I though oh no - did I just jinx the team??? Well thankfully I did not :) Here is my card for this week's challenge.

The papers are from the Kraft Funday - Everyday Fun pad (MME) and are so perfect for a sports themed card because you can add any color to suit your sports team! I added the sentiment from this stamp set onto a hand cut banner and finished the card off with some black brads.

First things first - I ALWAYS start with a sketch, even if it is only in my head or inspired by another card. Even if I know what stamp set I want to work with, I can always find a sketch that will work. AND once you work with sketches a lot you can make almost any sketch work with the image/sentiment you want to use. Rotate the sketch, change shapes, tweak the positioning, change the order of the layers, etc.

For my example today, I am using MFTWSC55. I also had not inked up Pure Innocence - I Love You This Big from the January release, so I get that cutie out and stamp a couple images. I generally color my images first once I choose a paper line. I felt like working with Paper Heart from Crate Paper. This image is perfect for some paper piecing, so I pick a couple patterns that are appropriate for the outfit. I color first then paper piece. In this case, I also trimmed my image out. This makes working with images a lot more versatile, too :)

I lay my patterned paper out on my desk with my image and move things around until I think I have an arrangement I might like. I usually position the papers similar to how they will appear together in the sketch. Here are a couple of my arrangements that I pondered for this card.

At this point I decide what size I want my card. This mostly depends on the image or sentiment I am using. I am making a square card, and my go to size is 5-1/2" so that is where I begin. I start by cutting my bottom layer - in this case the ledger paper. I use 1/8" mats generally, so I cut that first layer at 5-3/8". If I decide to double mat or use a larger mat later I can always trim it, but you can't add back - KWIM :) This is where I get real technical ;) I hold my clear ruler up to my base and eyeball the proportions of the other panels in relation to the sketch. Again, if unsure I generally will cut a 1/4" bigger and then trim until it looks right :) Here is what I ended up with.

Note that it has probably taken me longer to type this thus far than to actually go through the process!! See that Woodgrain Fence Die-namics? I almost always lay my Die-namics right on my "card" to see how they will look :) I had the idea for a little scene in the back of my head, and I am going with it :) Hmm, now what color fence? In hind sight, I probably would have used the paper that I pieced his pants with. We can't have our pants the same color as our fence though - LOL! So I pick up some Kraft paper and cut a fence. I also know that every outdoor scene needs some clouds, so I go ahead and run the Cloud Trio Die-namics through my die cutting machine with some Puff Cloud White My Favorite Felt. (Sorry for the blurry picture, I was on a creative roll!)

Not sure how I am feeling about the Kraft fence, so I pull out some of the white ruled paper from the Paper Heart collection and cut a second fence. Don't be afraid to NOT use something just because you don't want to waste it. I keep a small plastic container at my work space that has extra die cuts. I usually only keep large ones or ones that were cut from felt or cork. Another great way to use up those pieces is on the INSIDE of the card.

I definitely am liking the white fence much better. Now I am thinking perhaps I will add my sentiment as a flag pole? I quickly stamp the sentiment on a scrap of paper. I also pull out a flag pole from the Mini Pennant Die-namics that was in my cast off box :)

I also had a couple felt birds in my stash (from the Notched Tag Die-namics), so I stuck those on there as well. At this point, it is time for me to go to bed. I leave my pieces on my workspace. I do this ALL the time. I find looking at an arrangement with fresh eyes really helps me :) The next evening I decided I did not like the flag pole idea, so it got scrapped. However, without it I felt like there was too much space to fill. I ended up cutting the overall card size down to a 5" square and I liked that much better. I added my sentiment in one of my favorite ways with a Die-namics Tab - the File Tab Die-namics this time. The last step in my process or one of the last steps is deciding on what color mats to use. Oh, I originally was not going to include the top panel from the sketch, but I decided to sneak it on there with some vellum :)

90% of the time I stitch my panels together, so I just apply a small amount of adhesive to the centers or to an area I know I will not be stitching over. Do NOT stitch over adhesive - not a good thing :) After stitching and laying out again to be sure I like, I realize this card needs something else and decide to add some ribbon and twine behind the main panel. Even though you don't see much of it, I think it helps to ground that large panel. I really felt like this was the finishing touch this card needed, that and a little bird! Oh and a button!

For the inside, I arrange some scraps, stamp a sentiment, and add a couple Hearts a Plenty Die-namics from my cast off box.

Use sketches :)
Don't be afraid to change your mind or "waste" paper - I bet you have lots, I know I do!!
Walk away from a project to get a fresh perspective.
Don't forget the finishing touches - it is the small details that really make a card stand out. Think bling, pearls, small die cuts (one of my go-to is the Notched Tag Die-namics - LOVE that set and could probably incorporate onto every card!), buttons, ribbon, twine, brads, etc :)

BTW, those red felt birds from my cast off bin ended up on my Kraft Journal card yesterday :) See, no waste!

Hello!!! I am just popping in with a quick post of a card made with this month's Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions.

The image is from the S.W.A.K. stamp set. I stamped him on Choice Snow White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I added lots of Frosted Lace Stickles for the snow/ice.

The sentiment and heart border are from the same stamp set. The hearts stamped in the upper right corner are from A Little Love. All the papers, the ribbon, and heart candy button are included in January's kit. Here are the details. So Romantic with The Kraft Journal

Hello!! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I spent the past few days in Florida with my 6 year old son - we had a blast!!! Now it is back to reality, but at least that includes some crafty goodness for me :) For challenge #56 at The Kraft Journal, the theme is "So Romantic". Now, I am not going to lie - this theme doesn't come easy to me! If you visit my blog, you know that my projects are not usually elegant or romantic - LOL! I did try to create a romantic feeling with a color palette of dark pink, kraft, and neutrals and a romantic sentiment :) Not sure that I succeeded, but here it is!

I stitched two pieces of patterned papers from the Love Me 6x6 pad (MME) and a piece of Brown Kraft cover weight cardstock onto mats of black licorice cardstock. I layered the stitched panels and wrapped with a piece of Black Twill Tape which was ruffled along a piece of red line tape. The sentiment from Pearls of Wisdom was stamped on the ticket from the At the Movies Die-namics. I layered this over a black circle and two Open Scallop Doilies. A few pennants from the Mix & Match Banners Die-namics were tucked under the doilies. The card was finished off with two felt birds (from Notched Tag Die-namics) and a Pewter Stick Pin tied with a Red Baker's Twine bow.

The layout for this card is MFTWSC56 turned 90°. Here is a shot of those sweet birds and all the layers I have on the card.

Hello!!! My son and I should be sunning ourselves in Florida right about now :) I took my 6 year old on a four day get-away to visit my father!! But I didn't want to forget to share a couple more cards I made with my January Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions. I have a couple cards on the simpler side to share :)

This first card has no stamping, just a sentiment sticker from the kit. There are actually two stickers layered on a Take Note 3 die cut. I kept the layout and layering fairly simple, adding a sweet satin bow and a couple heart candy buttons all from the kit. Here is the second card.

This card is just a trifle more complicated with some stamped images from A Little Love cut out - the envelope and heart, as well as a hand cut sentiment banner. These are all layered over another of those great stickers with a heart button added. I tucked a Small Scallop Border in behind the main panel and wrapped some twill ribbon from the kit around it to add a bit of texture.

That is about all - two simple cards to add to my Valentine's Day stash! All Star & MFTWSC56

Hello, friends!! It is time for another installment of My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club, MFTWSC56. This week's sketch is very versatile, and I hope you will play along with us this week! I used the All-Star Die-namics & Stamp Set for this card in honor of my beloved New England Patriots heading to the Super Bowl once again in a couple weeks. Perhaps, I will send this to Tom Brady ;)

Here is the sketch.

My card is pretty self-explanatory. For once I followed the sketch almost exactly! The papers are the Kraft Funday - Everyday Fun 6x6 pad from My Mind's Eye. I stamped five stars on the name plate on the trophy to represent Tom's fifth Super Bowl start - lol! I used some metal photo anchors to add some interest to the four corners, kind of different? Hopefully in a good way :) Here is the interior using some scraps that were lying on my table.

I paired another couple sentiments from the All-Star stamp set with the helmet image stamped in second generation Grey Wool ink (CTMH). Here is a look at the All-Star Stamp Set& Die-namics.
