“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.” H. Ross Perot

It is easy to quit, walk away, and throw your hands up in defeat.

It is hard to keep going when there are so many obstacles, disappointments, and discouragements.

Perseverance has been the best and the hardest lesson for me to learn in the process discovering who I and my purpose in life.

What has kept me going is my support team – my incredible husband, my amazing friends, and my family’s belief and trust in me.

What has kept me going is a deep “knowing” that this is the path I am supposed to be on. The lessons are ones that I am supposed to learn.

What has kept me going are the people, resources, and opportunities that “show” up just when it would be easier to give up or I am in a place where I don’t know how to move forward.

What has kept me going is just doing one thing, one step at a time. Some days those are big steps and some days they are small, but it is moving forward!

When pursuing any dream, know that there are obstacles and make a decision in the beginning to keep moving no matter what. Look at obstacles as learning opportunities to improve and grow. Know that things happen for a reason. Know that it isn’t always going to be easy.

Hang in there! Keep persevering towards your desired outcome because as Norman Vincent Peale said “It is always too soon to quit!”

Make Today Count!

Our time is a precious resource. We use it every day with no way to “replenish” it. Once we have used a minute, a hour, or day…it is gone, never to be regained. How you choose to spend your time is an important decision. Is your time taking you towards your goals or away from them?

I participated in a group coaching course last year, designed by David Koons. I gained a lot from this course, however what really made the biggest difference in my life was “Power Start.” You begin each morning with a 15 minute Power Start. This 15 minutes is for you – each morning before you start your day, you remind yourself of your goals, what you are working towards, and what you need to accomplish today to take you towards those goals. It is a guideline to help you choose between a good way to spend your time and the best way.

How do I use my 15 minutes? I read my daily devotional, look over my goals for the year, the week, and my actions for the day. I take some time to visualize what those mean to me and how it will feel when I achieve them. I then look over my schedule for the day and make sure my tasks are taking me towards those goals.

It sets my direction for the day. I know my day is going to be filled with success. I am working towards my goals and focusing on the most important. I eliminate the most draining, increase momentum, and utilize my energy more efficiently. I am choosing to spend my precious resource of time wisely.

So, design your life, set those goals, and take 15 minutes to Power Start your day!

Make Today Count!
