Ravelry is an amazing crochet/knit online community you can join (for free\!) . You can post all of your projects you're working on, as well as projects you have completed, and even projects you wish to do. They also have a huge database of projects you can search with free patterns, as well as ones you pay to download from users, and other crochet pattern sites (like lionbrand and redheart - easier than going to each site separately to search!). So if you have not joined yet I definitely recommend it!
Once you do, you can add me as a friend and see my projects also :) My username is debbiejean
Happy crocheting!
I don't really know why, when, really , you can get a bag of 20 socks for 5 bucks at walmart, but the thought of blanketing my family's feet in warmth with colorful, cabled socks made with soft-as-a-blanket yarn has always made me want to make some! Of course my lack of knitting skills was a problem, and crocheting socks isn't so great when you've got two boys to make them for! (I find it always comes out a little girly!)
So while looking through the Martha Stewart website I wrote about a few days ago, I came acrossthis sock-knitting loom (click here to see it) and had to share it because I can't wait to try it!
Definitely going to be the next thing I treat myself to after the holidays!

I hope you're all enjoying getting ready for the coming holiday season!
Nicely made homemade gifts are always the best to receive, and I couldn't believe it this morning when I discovered some beautiful patterns on lionbrand.com from one of my favorite crafty gurus - Martha Stewart! here: Martha Stewart's Yarn Page
Besides some beautiful new yarns, there are plenty of gorgeous, quick projects I thought would make great gifts!
My favorite crochet pattern I came across right away was the Easy Lace Necklace (click here to see it!) using Martha's beautiful-looking Cotton Hemp Yarn (click here to see it). It uses less than one ball of yarn, so it's inexpensive, and I'm sure most women or girls on your list would love it - I think it would also look amazing with some beads or sequins added on! This is definitely one I'm going to make (and will share when I do!).
My next favorite pattern using Martha's was Half Medallion Bag (click here to see it). If you can find a gorgeous handle (or make your own like I wrote about here (click here to see)) This bag is another cute, inexpensive gift that can be personalized with beading, sequins, and anything else you think might look classy. I actually might not attempt this one until after the holidays (I've never worked with handles before) but am definitely going to try it out! The stitchwork is beautiful!
There are quite a few others if you go check out her pattern page too!
I am currently working on some cute juggling sacks for my son, which I will be sharing with you in the coming days too :)
Happy crocheting ! :)
I realize it's been a while since I've posted anything so I thought Id write just to let everyone know I'm still here :)
I have once again been pretty busy - just this summer my husband, son and I bought our first house and also welcomed our newest addition - a beautiful new baby girl ! So we have been pretty busy unpacking, setting up the house, homeschooling, and of course 90% of our time is now occupied with our wonderful little girl :)

Of course I have crocheted a few things for her which I plan to share as soon as I find our camera charger from our piles of boxes!
I'd also like to start sharing more things I find online - projects I plan to do, interesting pages and blogs, and some crochet tips. Of course I will continue to share projects I create myself - something I'm hoping to get back to now that the little one is sleeping longer through the night!
Also, for everyone who has e-mailed me with questions and comments I am so sorry I've taken this lng but I will reply shortly!
Hope you are all doing well and thanks for reading my blog :)
Happy crocheting!!
She makes up amazing designs of both sets of characters to crochet, and my son is always begging me to make some!
I had made him a Jigglypuff (a Pokemon monster)stuffy sometime last year, but it being my first attempt at this sort of crochet it has been in bad need of repair or a complete do-over soon!
I did, however, finish this Oddish (another Pokemon monster) stuffy for him, which he loved! I did the eyes and mouth by rolling up pipe cleaners and hot gluing them on instead of using felt and it came out pretty well! (That's it on the left)
You can check out Wolfdreamer's blog here:
http://wolfdreamer-oth.blogspot.com/
and you can find the Oddish pattern here:
Happy crocheting!!
I think the button adds a cute touch too!
Especially with 'Crochet That Fits'. I am so looking forward to starting some of these projects and thought I'd share some of the beautiful things I love in these books! Of course as soon as I finish them I will post pictures! I'm using links from ravelry.com - a free knit and crochet site you can join if you haven't already!

I really loved (in Crochet That Fits) the beautiful ballet-neck sweater on page 54 which you can see here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/balletneck-sweater

Also, the cap-sleeve top, which you can see here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cap-sleeve-top-4

Also, this long flared skirt is gorgeous!

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/long-flared-skirt

And the best of all has to be that black dress on the cover! The majority of projects are also intermediate or advanced beginner so they're not overly complicated either!

You can see the other pictures of these projects here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/crochet-that-fits

Positive Crochet has some really great ones also!

There is the amazing sweater on the front

There is this easy circular shrug:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/circular-shrug-2

This really cute cloverleaf top!

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cloverleaf-top

And more you can see here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/positively-crochet

Thanks for reading!

Debbie Jean

I know I haven't posted anything in quite some time, but it's been with good reason! I got married to my wonderful husband just a few weeks ago! So I have been quite busy with wedding stuff the past few months but am back to my crocheting now! I will be posting my next pattern this next week that I'm working now, and of course replying to any comments.
Thanks for reading!!
I found it again on Lionbrand.com website for free. I love all the scarf styles that have been around for the past few years and really wanted just a little accessory to put around my neck, not so much a neckwarmer. I loved this pattern with all the shell stitches and had found a really nice yarn to make it with, so I just adjusted the pattern to make it smaller and lighter.
Here is what I did and the pattern link.:
This is the original pattern:
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90268AD.html?noImages=
I went up to row 4, then instead of repeating the pattern more, only repeated it once again.
Then, instead of repeating it again the other way as the pattern says, I joined my yarn to the opposite side of the chain (the top of the piece) and single crocheted in all the chains around.
I think it came out really cute!

It's a very simple shrug, basically just a big rectangle. I used some wool I had found in the Wal-Mart factory ends bargain bin for $6.00 and it came out really nice!
I did follow the pattern on the site but did less rows than they reccommend. I kept folding it how it would be sewn on myself until I liked the fit, and of course it can be made bigger or even smaller, and can have a different look with a lighter yarn.
Very easy nice project though!
You can get the free pattern here:
The pattern is simple and they're made all in one piece. You can find the Applique pattern here:
http://debbiejean.blogspot.com/2009/12/pokeball-applique.html
The pattern for the fingerless gloves is below! Hope you enjoy :)

Fingerless Gloves

Materials:
Yarn of choice - a regular 50g ball is enough
Crochet hook size I/9
Yarn needle if you want to put on the applique

Pattern

Chain 20. Join with a slip stitch. Chain 3.

Round 1: Double crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch to join.

Round 2 - 4: Chain 3. * Back-post Double Crochet in next stitch, Front-post double crochet in next stitch* Repeat from * to * all around. slip stitch to join. Repeat for 2 more rounds.

Round 5 - 6: Chain 3. Double-crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. Repeat for one more round.

Round 7: Chain 3. Double crochet in next 4 stitches, chain 4, skip next 4 stitches, double crochet in remaining stitches. Slip stitch to join.

Round 8: Chain 3. Double crochet in each stitch and chain around. Slip stitch to join.

Round 9: Chain 3, Double-crochet in back loops only of all stitches in next round. Slip stitch to join.
Fasten off! Make second one.

Now you can make the pokeball applique if you wish and sew it on with thread.

It's cream white with gold wrapped around it :)
I just basically used her pattern, but instead of a 4mm hook used a 2mm one and basically doubled the amount of chains, also added a button in the back to make it cute. So here's what I did and thanks to the creative yarn blogger for this idea!!

Materials:
2mm crochet hook
crochet thread (I got my metallic thread at walmart)

Chain 154
Single crochet in the 2nd chain from hook and next 3 stitches
Chain 160
Single crochet in first 4 chains of previous chain to attach the two
Chain 168
Single crochet in 4 stitches of previous single crochets
Here, I crocheted the two parts together and put my button there, or you can actually crochet the button on one side and make a buttonhole on the side you finished on by chaining 3 or more depending on the size of your button and clip stitch in to the 4th single crochet in the previous row.
I made the flower myself by using the same hook:
Chain 5, join with a slip stitch.
Chain 4, join into first chain with a slip stitch , repeat in each chain around.
Chain 6, join in same stitch as previous petal with slip stitch
Repeat all around, fasten off.

I think they'd also look really gorgeous with some thin satin ribbon threaded through the cuff or the top. They also look nice without the ruffles on top, so you can stop crocheting there too.

Materials
Size G6/4mm hook
WW yarn - any color I used plain red redheart yarn sport weight

Pattern
Start with the cuff, worked across from side to side:
Chain 26.
1) Single crochet in the second chain from hook and each chain across. Turn.
2) Chain 3. Double crochet in each stitch across, turn.
3) Chain 1, single crochet in each chain across, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until this cuff can fit around your arm (remember not to make it too big - it stretches!)

Once you have a good size (mine was 16 rows ) ending with a double crochet row:
sew the two sides together by single crocheting them, then go back up to the top by slip stitches.
Now you make the glove part:

1) chain 1. Single crochet in each top chain to make stitches all around (I made 27, yours will be more or less depending on how big your cuff was)
2) Now, single crochet in first stitch, then single crochet in the back loop. Repeat this pattern all around, joining with a slip stitch. Repeat for 3 rounds, starting each round with a chain 1.
3) For the next round, single crochet in 2 stitches, then *skip 1 and make 2 chains and single crochet in the next two stitches*. repeat from * to * entire round.
4) Chain 3. *Double crochet in 2 stitches, then do 2 double crochet in each chain 2 space*. Repeat from * to * entire round.
5) The nest round, you'll make the thumbhole:
Single crochet 1 stitch front , 1 stitch back loop for this round to the last 4 stitches. Chain 8 (10 to 12 for larger sizes) and skip the next 10-12 stitches depending on how big your cuff is. Slip stitch in the 9th (or next) stitch to join. (you'll leave the thumbhole unworked).
6) Single crochet this new round by doing 1 stitch in the front loop and 1 stitch in the back loop. Slip stitch to join.
7) chain 1, Single crochet in next two stitches, *chain 2, skip 1 stitch and single crochet in next two stitches*. Repeat from * to * for round.
8) Chain 3, double crochet in each stitch around and do 2 double crochet in each chain 2 space around.
9) Now you can decide if you want the ruffles on top or not. If you dont, do a round of single crochet here and fasten off or continue to your desired size. If you want the ruffles, decide if one more round will be long enough glove for you, or do more rounds of single crochet depending on how long you want the glove. When you have your desired size, do 3 single crochet in every other stitch around to make ruffles. Slip stitch to join and fasten off!

I hope you like this pattern and happy valentines day!

I made this necklace just last night and love it! It's fast, easy and trendy. Im also planning to make a few more with the same design idea, so I'll post them as soon as I do! :)
You can always of course add your own touches by beading the yarn before you crochet it, embroidery on the flowers might be cute, or using 2 different colors - be creative!
Hope you like this one!
Pattern is below.
Pattern copyright Debbie Jean Currier - not to be used for sale or to make for sale, thank you!

Materials
Crochet hook size F5/3.75
WW yarn (try a dainty one)

Pattern
Chain 42
*Single crochet 10 times in first chain from hook, slip stitch with first single crochet to join
chain 2, join yarn to bottom of little round you just made.
Now, to make the petals, chain 3, skip one single crochet and single crochet in the next stitch. Continue all around small round to make 5 petals. SLip stitch with first chain to join.
Now, chain 12. Single crochet in first chain from hook 10 times.
Chain 2 and join yarn to bottom of small round.
Chain 12, single crochet 10 times in first chain from hook.
Chain 2, join yarn to bottom of small round. Chain 12.*
Repeat from * to * one more time to complete necklace, then:
Chain 42, join chain to the first chain 42 you made at the beginning and you're done! :)

I really hope you liked this one!

I made these lacy gloves after starting a similar project, and kind of getting bored! hehe.

I am really loving them so I'm going to share the pattern on here and hopefully you'll like them too :) You can make them as long or as short as you like, scrunch them up, wear them over or under clothes, or just like in the picture. And of course you can always add all your own little touches like beading, embroidery, different colors, , ruffles, anything!
Repeat from * to * all around. Slip stitch with first stitch to join. (you'll now have 30 stitches)5) *now, double crochet in the first TWO stitches once, then double crochet in the next stitch twice.* Repeat from * to * all around (you'll have 40 stitches)6) *double crochet in next THREE stitches once, then double-crochet in next stitch twice* Repeat from * to * all around.(now you'll have 50 stitches)7) *double crochet in next FOUR stitches once each, then in next stitch twice* repeat from * to * all around (then you'll have 60 stitches). If this hat is for a child, stop here adding increases here, and continue to the next step. If it's for someone a bit older, add a few more rounds of increses (the stitch where you double crochet twice) and add one stitch between it each time ( for example, in the next round, you would double-crochet in the next four stitches once, then double crochet in the next twice)8) Now, double crochet once in each stitch around. Keep doing rounds of double-crochet once in each stitch until you have the desired length of your hat. Then fasten off and add the applique if you like :)So that's the completed hat pattern Hope you like it and use it well!I'll be posting my second mug-cozy soon :)Debbie

I was trying to crochet my son a hat with a decent looking pokeball on it using a graph pattern I drew but it just wasnt happening!
So instead I made this applique by crocheting in rounds and thought it came out pretty good!!
You can make it bigger or smaller by adding rounds or using different sized needles and you can sew it onto anything.
E-mail me your creation if you like and I'll post it with your link ;)
debbiejeansmade@hotmail.com
**For Personal Use ONLY
Please remember, I am providing these patterns for free but they are my original patterns, so they are for personal use only, not for selling or making things to sell. Thanks :)

Materials
I used hook size F but you can use any size to make it bigger or smaller
WW Yarn in red, white, and black

Pattern
Using white, Chain 3
Slip stitch to first chain to join

Single crochet 9 times in ring
slip stitch to first stitch to join

Switch to black, single crochet in each stitch 2 times all around (18 stitches)
Slip stitch to join

SIngle crochet in first single crochet with black, then switch to white
Single crochet with white 2 times in each of next 7 stitches

switch to black, single crochet once in next stitch, then switch to red
Now single crochet 2 times in each next 7 sts with red
Slip stitch to join.

Switch to black
Single crochet in first stitch with black, then switch to white

Single crochet 2 times in each of next 14 stitches with white
Switch to black

Single crochet once in next stitch with black
Switch to red

Single crochet 2 times in each of next 14 stitches with red
Slip stitch to join

Now, you can keep making your pokeball bigger by adding rounds (adding 1 stitch between increases on each round) or leave it this big.

For the border, attach black and single crochet in each stitch around

Done :) !
As soon as the hat is done I'll post it !
Hope you liked it
Remember to always e-mail me your creations with my patterns and I'll post them up here for you with a link if you like :)

I've been wanting to try making a mug cozy for a while and finally have! It also doubles as a coaster (great for company!) since I made it go under the cup as well.
It's not perfect for the mug I tried it on, I'd have to make it a bit smaller and adjusting the pattern is easy!
It requires fastening off a bit, but Im thinking of making one without fastening off as well this week!
I used two colors but you can do whatever combinations you want with it.
Like the other one you can add your own touches too - ruffles, embroidery, beading, anything! :)
I'd love to see everyones different takes on this! If you'd like, send it to me and I'll post it here with a link to your page if you want.
debbiejeansmade@hotmail.com
Here's the pattern:

Materials:
Crochet hook h/8 (but really you can use any size you want to get your desired look and for your kind of yarn)
WW yarn in colors of your choice

Pattern:
1) Chain 20, slip stitch to first chain to join

2) Single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join

3) Chain 1, 2 single crochet in each stitch around (now you'll have 20 stitches) slip stitch to join.

Now depending on how big your mug is, you can stop here and skip to step 5 or make it bigger with step 5 - the base you're making now should be just a little bit smaller than the mug's base.

4) To make base bigger, *single crochet in first stitch, then do 2 single crochet in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * all around. Slip stitch to join.
If you need it bigger still, continue to add one stitch between increases (for example, in the next row you would single crochet once in the next 2 stitches, then do the increase - 2 single crochet - in one stitch and continue around)

5) Now, single crochet in the back loops only of all the stitches around. Slip stitch to join each round.
Continue this for 3 rounds, or until you reach the handle on your mug of choice.

6) In the next row, single crochet in the back loops until you reach the middle stitch (in mine, stitch number 20) Fasten off. Skip 4 stitches and cast the thread back on.

7) single crochet in rest of stitches around, slip stitch to join.
From here, continue to fasten off at those 4 stitches in each round until you reach the top of your mugs handle (for me, that was 10 rounds)

8) When you have finished your rounds, fasten off and fasten the thread onto the top of your handle hole. Chain 4, attach to other end with slip stitch. Single crochet in each chain, then fasten off.

9) Now, single crochet in each stitch inside the handle hole.

10) If you want to add ruffles to the top, double crochet 4 times in each top stitch around (or the bottom would be cite too!)

Thats it! Now you can add your own touches to it :)
Hope you liked this one!!
I'll be posting my second version (no fastening off ) soon this week and am also working on a pokemon hat for my son that I'll be posting (my first homemade graph pattern! yipes! wish me luck! lol)
