Hope you are all having a great Valentines Day and received a lovely card and maybe even a gift from a loved one. Maybe even some of you got engaged today, I did some 13 years ago, so if you did get engaged many congratulations.

I did a Valentines themed tea party shoot recently for a lovely couple, Pete and Ellie. The tea party was organised by the fabulous The Secluded Tea Party and we set it up in a fabulous hay barn for the couple to enjoy after their lovely country walk together, it was a rather cold day but we had lots of fun on the shoot and soon forgot about how cold it was.

The Secluded Tea Party can arrange the most fabulous tea parties for your event whether it be for an engagement shoot, a wedding or even for a family party; and why not capture the tea party by combining it with a photo session. The cakes are delicious (I’ve tasted them!) and the set up is gorgeous; so contact the lovely Miss Sue Flay for more details on how to arrange your very own private tea party by clicking on the links above which will take you to her website.

If you have got engaged on Valentines Day then maybe when you set a date you will be looking for a Wedding Photographer, you can find out more about my Wedding Photography here. Please do contact me to find out all the details of my Wedding Photography Package, which of course includes a beautiful Queensberry Album. The package also includes an Engagement/Pre-Wedding shoot, so maybe we can arrange a tea party for two in the session as well.

Here are some of the images from Pete and Ellie’s session:

I am so lucky to do the job that I do; and I absolutely love it.

I want to give my clients the best experience they can have when they intrust me with capturing their memories. So I do feel it is so important to continue with my photography training and learn more, I don’t think you ever stop learning and by increasing my knowledge this will help give my clients an even better experience.

In the past 12 months I have done a lot of photography and business training with Aspire whilst I have been on their Bespoke Programme which is acknowledged by the photographic industry as a world class program and the best in its field. Through this programme I have had the pleasure in working with some of the best photographers in the UK and learning all I can from them.

I have also had the pleasure of attending a course with well known photographer Brett Harkness at Fanhams Hall Hotel in Ware, Hertfordshire. Brett is widely regarded as one of the UK’s top social photographers. Here are a few of the images that I took whilst learning from Brett:

I thought I would do a couple of photography projects throughout 2012, one of which is to photograph as many different dog breeds that I can. We all love our furry members of the family whether they are pedigree or cross breed dogs and I thought it would be an exciting task to photograph all shapes and sizes of dogs in a way perhaps that I would normally photograph people. They all have different characters just as people do and I hope to portray that in my images.

I have started off my project with four Gundog breeds and I have also asked their owners to tell me a bit about their characters. If anybody else would be interested in volunteering their lovely dogs to be photographed by me for this project and we can easily get together then please do get in touch.

Ok so here is the first lovely dog of the project.

Paris is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Her owner Sharon tells me that “She was born on 4th July which was ironic as her father is a US import so quite fitting,so she is just six months old. She is one clever young lady and is so willing to please but is so busy she finds it very hard to concentrate. Overall she is so lovable and I can’t imagine life without her”.

Angel is a Bracco Italiano. Her owner Lorna tells me “Angel is 14 months old, she is very affectionate, always the first one up on my knee! I also have Miniature Pinschers and she loves to play with the little dogs, she can be very clumsy but she always manages to be gentle with them”.

Monty is a Weimaraner, the breed that I own. His owner Nicola says about him “Monty is 20 months old and what a fabulous dog. A loyal and loving family member, who is also proving to be a brilliant farm dog but most of all he is my 4 year old son’s best friend!”

Lastly Harris is an Irish Setter. His owner Gaynor says “His nick-name is Scooby-Doo as he often has the silly gormless expression that Scooby has. He is an excitable and very lovable dog who still thinks he’s a puppy, not 5 yrs old, his favourite pastimes are chasing through the muddiest puddles he can find (typical setter trait) and pinching my Weimaraner Ava’s ball but doing everything possible to make sure she doesn’t get it back. He absolutely adores children and will spend forever sat in front of them giving them a paw”.

Hope you enjoyed the first posting from my project, please feel free to give me any comments below.

Well girls here’s to another New Year and probably another set of New Year’s resolutions. Will we stick to them this time? They are usually something along the lines of eating more healthy, going to the gym, losing weight etc. I know mine is going to the gym. So if you are feeling like this could be a new you in 2012 why not celebrate this change with a Boudoir session, or why not just celebrate being you as you are already.

Book a Boudoir session this year and let out your inner Tigress and let’s have some fun! The session will make you feel liberated and fantastic and what better way than to show off how gorgeous you are whilst wearing the most beautiful lingerie, a good excuse to go out and buy the lingerie you have always wanted. Don’t forget the shoes as well! Whether the ultimate images are for your husband, partner or best of all just for you; you will love this unique experience. As well as the photography session you will also be pampered by a professional hair and make-up artist.

Don’t just take my word for it, here are some words from two of my lovely ladies who have have gone through the Boudoir experience:

“The photo shoot was for me really stepping out of my comfort zone but knew my husband would love the photos for his 40th. Although I was very nervous Debbie and her hair and make up lady were fantastic – chatting, putting me at my ease and explaining how it all worked. I did yelp slightly when I saw myself in the mirror though – amazed at make over! As for the photo part, Debbie made it seem like the most natural thing in the world to be doing after a few minutes. By the end of the session I had had lots of fun and really felt boosted in my self confidence - I had done that! When the link to my photos arrived I was astounded – every image I loved and a few select friends were amazed too. I gave my husband the link in his card for his birthday and then went out. Returned to one surprised and extremely happy husband! Just goes to show that everyone should step out of their comfort zone a little more often!” Emma Williams

“What a wonderful experience…..something I’d never planned to do! My ideas and thoughts were taken on board by Debbie and Wendy and I was made to feel totally relaxed about the photo session. After the day I couldn’t wait to see the images…… The photographs are fantastic….amazing……I couldn’t be more pleased with them. I hardly recognised myself.” Natalie Rendell

To give you an idea of what the images can look like, Natalie has let me share her images with you here:

I know I am a bit late but welcome to 2012 and I hope that all your dreams and aspirations come true this year.

I thought I would start this post with a round up of what I have been up to in 2011, as at the start of the year I didn’t foresee quite a few things that unfolded throughout the year; but I am so glad that they did.

I started off the year in 2011 at the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers ) convention in Hammersmith, London; I visited the trade show that was running and just had the urge to spend spend spend, it was like being in a sweetie shop for photographers. I was very good though and did a few seminars with some great photographers and I also booked on a “Yummy Mummy” course with Aspire. which was to be a turning point for what laid ahead for me for that year.

So in February I travelled up to Aspire in the lovely Lake District and did a training course on photographing bumps and babies with the fabulous trainer Kate Hopewell-Smith. Kate had the previous year completed her 12 month Bespoke Programme with Aspire, something that I had wanted to do for such a long time. The Bespoke Programme is not just about photography development but about in-depth business training. I had previously done a couple of days training with this company the previous year and after listening to Kate and Aspire I signed up for the Bespoke Programme the week after and started on this new creative and inspiring journey the following month.

Since starting on the Bespoke Programme I feel that I have just learnt so much about running a business much more than if I had been left to my own devices; and I also feel that I have developed as a photographer and found my own style. I have also made lots of new lifelong friends along the way; I will be very sad in a way to complete the programme in March of this year but I know it is just the start of an exciting new beginning for me and my business.

The next few months saw me trying to find my feet within my newly reinvented business and I really pulled back from putting my business within the public domain until I felt that I knew where my business was heading and what it was that I wanted to achieve.

One thing that I really wanted to get started on was my new branding and identity as without this I just felt a bit in limbo, as of once this was completed I could then start on my new website, new blog and marketing material. I employed the services of the lovely Melissa Love who I worked with over a few months to help me with my branding; and I was so delighted when it was finally complete. I knew that I still wanted to use the butterfly within my logo as it represents nature, beauty and colour; which are all of the elements that I like to incorporate into the images that I create.

One of my more memorable blog posts for me was “Bring Back the Family Album”, which I feel really strongly about as I think these should not be allowed to disappear in favour of digital alternatives such as disks. Please read the post here.

I was also pleased to be one of the photographers who worked with Womans Weekly on their Centenary Exhibition and met some lovely ladies that I photographed.

On a personal note 2011 was also the year of my 40th Birthday, the year of my 1st wedding anniversary but more sadly one year on (actually the day before my wedding anniversary) that I lost one of my beloved Weimaraners Zac. He was the most special dog and I miss him everyday, I am just so thankful that I have so many images of him to remember him by.

I also passed being two years in business in 2011 and have never looked back, and now I am looking forward to what 2012 has to bring me. I have got lots of ideas and projects to develop in 2012 and am excited to show you what I have been up to within my blog posts, so I will keep you posted. If you click on the tab on the left hand side you can subscribe to my blog post so you can ensure that you don’t miss anything.

Thanks for supporting me throughout 2011 and I hope you will stick around throughout 2012. Here are just a few of my favourite images from 2011.

Happy New Year to you all!

I spent a few hours of New Years Day at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire in the company of Liz Fraser, Sophie Sulehria and Miss Sue Flay. It was a great show and we all had a lovely chat over the airwaves whilst having a lovely cuppa and some delicious Oreo drizzle cake courtesy of the lovely Miss Sue Flay. The experience wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be and I really enjoyed it. Sophie was a great quiz master and entertained the listeners with a quiz about 2011 and was surprised to find out that the top 3 travel destinations were Vegas, New York and Disneyland Paris!!

I recently shot a family photo session in Buckinghamshire just before Halloween so we thought we would include a pumpkin and some lovely Halloween inspired cupcakes within the photographs. Needless to say the kids loved the cakes!

These images show how I usually shoot a portrait session. We start off at the family home and then with a change of outfits we go out on location somewhere which can be a local park, the only limit is your imagination. This way we can get a really good range of different images which would look beautiful in a Queensberry album or book.

After the session is complete I will give you an idea of the type of products that are available for your images, that way you can get a good idea before you see your images of what it is that you want. When the images have been custom edited by me, I will arrange a viewing session so that you can see your images. Again we will go over the images together to see what looks best so that you can decide what you would like to order and I will help you through this process.
