They're attacking and this time in no small number. It seems that with the decline of temperature comes the increase of population among the arachnid community besieging our house.

I have never been a friend of these miniature beasts. I have never opted to release them back into the wild from which they came. I have always took one of two actions: kill or ignore. More often than usual I ignore them as they don't provoke aggression in their webs but today has been a different story altogether, my friends.

I have been suffering a cold for a couple of days now, and you could say that tension is running as high as the as the pitch of the fever. No moments seems to pass between thumping headaches and sneeze attacks, but in the smallest respite of sleep. It had been a short time after one of those peaceful yet brief periods that I was alarmed to discover the octo-offender. My brother came in from another strange excursion into the world and had begun speaking to the creature as if he knew it from a previous adventure. He grabbed me from my chair and at once challenged me to defeat it.

I could not be bothered. So, he went back to chatting with the spider and I went back to playing bubble shooter because these are the pillars of our lives. Still, in the back of my mind I wondered what unique characteristics made this spider so remarkable to my sibling. Spiders inhabit nearly every room of this building, in fact there is one crawling its way up the wall next to me as I type this. So I proceeded to insert myself into the one-sided conversation and investigate the case further.

This beast, dear reader, was of no small consequence. It was indeed a formidable looking thing. I'm very sorry to say that photographic evidence does not exist as swift action was required if we were to survive the night. In my haste all prospects of the future escaped me and animal instinct kicked in. Sorry. If you require a visual reference simply imagine your hand with three more fingers and filled with venom sticking to the wall minding its own business.

I crushed its spindly body with my shoe and thought nothing more of it. A victory for all mankind and no small achievement, but now a simple trifle. One for the books but no longer a threat, I returned to my seat after brushing its corpse from my sole.

Of course, my dear brother mumbled a small complaint about how I should have removed it from its nest and sent it back out to the world at large. I understand this line of thinking, but it should be noted that its life would not have been any better out there. It might have lived well on the blood of other small creatures but it would have died soon enough slowly curling its legs toward its center and rotting away in the wilds of our front yard. Its life a pain to sustain and its many victims passing in horror without escape. I gave it the quick way out without pain or suspense. We should all be so lucky, I think.

Sure it meant no harm to us, it posed no serious threat, but what of the future? What do you do when you have a million of these things slowly descending from the ceiling in the middle of the night?

So, my course of action was clearly not the one everyone would take, but in the end I think the best. Indeed there is no more worry of spiders any longer and I would sacrifice a billion of them for a good night's sleep, but that seems not to be the case for this night. I can not sleep until the nyquil kicks in and so I thought I would regale you with a tale of spiders and intrigue.

So, yeah, being sick is a big old pile of suck. I don't know. I'll get over it. Anyway, since I'm in a bad way and I don't think anything creative is gonna rise up through it and get words together without a migraine infused embolism in my brain, I figured I'd just post links to the things distracting me from actually making this website about anything in particular.

I'd like to thank you for your patience. This short trial period has been one of growth and gestation, learning and maturation. I think now the time has come to get a bit serious with this business and actually do something worth your time. So, in a day or so I'm going to delete all the previous posts and really get to doing what I'm here to do. I hope I'm not rushing this.

It's all coming together...

I've added a page to the blog. It's a top-ten/bio/work in progress page. It's very exciting to learn new things just by stumbling on them and watching your work actually start to form into something nearly presentable. Just a couple of days and look how far we've come. Neato.

Of course, most of this is just temporary. I'm very suddenly getting to know all the little things about blogging(welcome to 1998, dumbass) and most of it is pretty slick and incredibly easy. I think I'm well on my way to settling the foundations for step one in my seven year plan to not be a complete fuck-up by age thirty. We'll see how that goes.

Now, to the meat and potatoes portion or why I'm even doing this at all, I have about fourteen or so short stories in the works. All of them at once starting back from a few years ago up to a few days ago. Ideas just swelling up to bursting. All kind of piling up so I better get them out here soon before they start rotting. I mean, I should've had at least one finished before I started this thing, but opportunity knocked and I may have leapt before I looked so I guess we're stuck with pseudo-updates until I work something out so to speak.

Okay, keep coming back and I'll keep wasting your time.

Madeleine L'Engle wrote A Wrinkle in Time and several other young adult novels, but Wrinkle is the only one I read as we were required to in middle school. I wasn't really into it as it was a bit heavy on the Christian passages and I've never been a pious person. Still, that quote above still made an impact on me and there's nothing religious about it. That advice is the backbone of all writers even if it's not quite the first time anyone ever said it.

It's essential for any serious writer to basically do what the job implies everyday. I know it's not easy, hell, I know I don't keep up with it like I should, but it's a new month and I guess I'm committing to the schedule. Because I know it's important and I'm just going to sit on my ass not going anywhere in life without pushing myself to make that commitment.

So, here's to writing everyday, maybe not on this blog, maybe not always on the computer, but certainly sticking to it and hopefully getting some real stories down here for you to read.

Maybe you'll do the same, or not. Whatever.

So, enough about all the silly bullshit. I think you get the idea and I hope you understand the message I'm trying to get to you without going too much into detail. At least the wise ones understand.
It's Monday now and soon enough all this shit will go away to be replaced by legitimate posts and somewhat significant content, at least I hope.
Writing isn't the most easily produced material, I put it somewhere between food and statues. But, you should see something worthwhile here soon. If not then just be patient or fuck off depending on your personality.

You guys rock, but I am afraid I'm not making anything right now and I won't be for a couple weeks, but not to worry. I'll still be here supporting you when you need me. Patience is a virtue indeed.

Okay, does anybody know how to make standalone pages I can create or link to in that little toolbar up there? I have it and it only links back to the homepage which is pointless, but I was hoping there was maybe a way to create pages for different kinds of writing or genres or something. If not, it's cool, but that would be nice.

Anyway, I hope my blog isn't hurting your eyes. I'll update later with more garbage.

In the hopes that you actually read this, I'd like to inform you that this isn't going to work for a bit. Public service announcements suck. If you do follow me and keep coming back then everything will be groovy, but I get the feeling that this is a passing fad and soon everything will fall by the wayside before anyone makes an impact.
That said, those who do stick around might actually become good bloggers like i hope to be. So, good for those of you who stick with it. All you other lazy bastards can fuck off.

Anyway, this is another one for the trash pile when things get rolling. Day one stuff is never great by any means. So, well, shit for the next little while. I'm sure you don't really care.

The great mystery revealed!

You may be wondering what exactly I was talking about with all that journey and discovery nonsense in the previous post and you'd be right to wonder. I was talking about nothing in particular and that post along with this one will probably be deleted in a few days. This is just filler really until I get everything situated.

The mission I've set out to complete here is one of creative outlet. This is the first step in a seven year plan and I'm just getting my feet wet. Cutting my teeth if you will. I'm going to produce original creative writings and random nonsense or what have you. Stories and anecdotes, lies and slander, plus incredibly boring details about my personal life that you will just have to sink your teeth into.

Whatever. I'll work on it and it will get better. Until then, well, this will have to do.
