In the long run productivity will decrease rapidly and worker relationships deteriorate, leading to loss of revenue for the establishment.

· Although money is very important, it is not everything. Even a very hefty bonus might work negatively if you are unable to give the same amount the following year, negating your motivating efforts.

Avoid the big stick and wads of money as tools of motivating. Give the following try.

· To say thank you to your subordinate for extra effort made and extra time put in does not cost you anything but you may gain everything. This is especially important in voluntary work but no less at regular work place. Take note when someone goes the extra mile for the company or when a worker has to work late in to the night to finish a project. Let them know you are grateful for their contribution.

Make your decision without looking for old guidelines and rules.

*Almost all the rules we used to know regarding how to be successful have been broken. If you did follow those rules, you will be nothing special to be noticed and will most probably be over-looked. “I just don’t have enough tome” how many times have you heard that today? Up to now? How many times have you said it? In fact, I’d bet that you said these exact words more than a dozen times in the last 48 hours.

“I don’t have enough time to...

…finish my work,

…get in shape,

…start a hobby,

…spend with my family.”

Everybody has only 24 hours a day, whether they are kings or paupers!! While we all have the same amount of the time in the day, why is it that some people seem to accomplish a ton more than you? From the president to the postman, people all have the same time frame but accomplish loads more than in a single day that you seem to accomplish in a week.

Why is this? Why do some struggle and drown in their obligations, while others make the impossible seem effortless? Why are some people poor at time management time-poor while others are time-rich? Which are you?

It is a case of how you choose to spend your time. Consider the following and see if your days too cannot be loaded with accomplishments!

1. You Don’t Say No

One of the biggest mistakes people make is to take on burdens that do not belong to them. If and when you don’t say no, you find yourself doing other people’s work, neglecting your own. This happens both in the workplace and in day-to-day life. Ever find yourself doing someone else’s job simply because you couldn’t say no? If you do, don’t let it happen again.

2. Know Your Obligations

If you don’t know how full your bucket is, you cannot tell if and when your bucket is going to overflow. It is very easy to over commit your time if you not aware of all your obligations; of what you already have taken on. You need to make a commitment list. List out and budget all your commitments from work, life and community. Only then can you know how your remaining time balance.

3. Life Friction

Life friction is self-inflicted time management. On other words, you create your own crises by your own actions and disorganization. Life friction means extra re-work increased stress and wasted time. Ever get back from running errands and realize you have to go back out because you forgot something? Or that you have to go to the same place to deliver another parcel which you could have done at the first time?

4. You Lolly-gag

I find it hilarious that the very same people who lament they don’t have enough time are the very same people that lolly-gag and waste it. Ever see that person who arrives late to work and then spends the next hour and 15 minutes getting ready to start working? You don’t need to spend every second of the day under a stopwatch, but be aware of when you waste time whether it is gossiping, surfing the internet or recapping the weekend for the third time.

5. Put your Priorities First

Ever finish a busy workday only to think to yourself that you didn’t get anything important done? That is because you hadn’t got your priorities right. It won’t matter how fast you work, you may never get to what is important in time. You have to be able to say, “I am not going to do this, because something else is more important”.

6. Do Everything Yourself

We all have the same number of seconds in the day. At a certain point, the only way to get the essentials done is no have someone help you. But, some people have trouble letting others do work because they feel that no one else can do the job as well as they can. It may be true but in certain situations you have to face reality and let others in on it so that the job can be completed on time.

This can be particularly troublesome if a leader will not let their team do their duties and instead tries to take on everything single handed.

7. Finish Things

When you don’t finish a task given to you, you are only creating more work for yourself. Tasks not done or completed actually create more work for you. They take more time to pick back up when you return to them. They create unnecessary complications for yourself as well for others, when you leave them for the last minute.

Leave an expense report undone for a long period of time and see what happens. It ends up taking 5X’s as long to complete compared to if you had done it right away. So always ensure you don’t keep loose ends hanging around. Finish what has been given to you…ON TIME.

Goals are one of fundamental things in life. They define what are you are doing and why you are doing it. They serve as a constant reminder of what the end destination in any journey. They act as a road map to show us how reach where we want to go.

So, why do we need goals? The answer is simple; to keep us on task. Goals give us a purpose and a focus that cannot be replaced by anything.

Goals are expectation and it means looking forward. Does it not make more sense to commit to writing what you are seeking? Take a moment to think about the everyday common writing grocery list. What happens to your expectation when you leave that written list at home or at the office? If you are like more people, you potentially waste a lot of time thinking about what was on the list. Upon your return, you realize that you have failed to secure everything you had previously thought of having in the future.

Using goals to help your situation as a sales person is vital to your success. All of the sales people I talk to who consider themselves successful rely on goals to help get them there. I hear time and time again that people that set goals for themselves reach a higher level. They find a way to stretch themselves and make it happen.

Setting sales goals are demanded by sales management and yet results reveal for fewer of those demands are ever realize. Everyone knows Walter Disney or Walt Disney. Ask any kid and you will be told that Uncle Walt was the creator of the Mickey Mouse. Actually, add the very start, it was Walt who gave his voice to Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney is the best known film producer and philanthropist we have been fortunate to see in the modern times. He co founded the Walt Disney production with his brother Roy and became one of the most famous if not the most famous motion picture producers at all time. His company is now known as the Walt Disney Company and has a turnover of more than USD 35 billion annually.

Walt Disney has won 26 Academy Awards and 59 nominations which mean he has more awards and nominations than any other human being!! He has also won 7 Emmy Awards. So obviously we have so much to learn from him.

1. Correct Perspective

A man should never neglect his family for his job or business.

Your family has only you to look after them. After all it is your family! Your family should always be part of the dream you are trying to achieve. For whom are you going to achieve this dream? For them of course! So is only logical that they should be part of the process of achieving it.

2. Competition

Competition is what keeps you on your toes and ensure your products and services are better than that of theirs! They are like quality controllers. Automatically we try to make our product better than that of our competition. Walt Disney said “without competition I don’t know how to get along.” Competition makes you stronger and your products and services better. Don’t run away or curse competition. They provide you the engine to pull your business through by making you the best in the business. Like the street urchins who are immune to most disease by experiencing them first hand, competition will ensure you are immunized when you overcome them.

3. Choose to do what you love to do.

Walt Disney didn’t make Disneyland with the idea of making money. But money flows in!!! If you do something just for the money it will last only until fervor is over. If you love what you do, want to accomplish it passionately, than you will have the strength to achieve your goal long after your competition has given up. Money alone will not give you that kind of strength; only passion can!

Walt Disney said, “Disneyland was work a work of love. We didn’t go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money”

4. Do the impossible

Why not?! “If you can dream, you can do it”. Wise words indeed. Pursue the impossible, what they say cannot be done or what has never been done before. Pursue your dream until it becomes reality. Believe in your dream, implicitly and all the way and make it come true!

5. Act now!

If you can appreciate the difference between well done and well said, you know that I mean. In Walter Disney’s book, the way to get started was to quit talking and to begin doing!! Planning is good and a good plan is very good but don’t spend your whole life planning. Do a bit of doing too. Because without action no amount of planning will do any good!

“SEX” is a topic which is not discussed openly. Kenny Mokhele defined it as “an emotional state of affection which two or more human beings or animals engage into for internal and external satisfaction”

Satisfaction of practicing “marketing” is relying on achieving organizational objectives and most of the time its “profit”.

When you analyze the term “sex” carefully there are few things we can learn from it and apply for the success of marketing.

It’s about quality and not quality:

Some companies take a quantitative approach to marketing. When sales are down, they do MORE of what they’re doing instead of doing it BETTER. If what you’re doing isn’t working, doing more of it isn’t likely to fix the problem.

Pay attention:

Great lovers and smart marketing/sales officers do one thing very well. They ask their lovers/customers questions. “Is this what you want?”, “How can I do better?” Do you talk to your customers and ask these questions? Do you ask them why they decided to go with you instead of your competitor? Do you ask those people who did go with your competitors why they chose them? Ask relevant questions as much as possible and make sure you are delivering what your customer wants.

Experiment and Adjust:

Most companies choose their marketing tactics based on “what everyone else is doing” or “because I thought it would be a great idea.” Some companies don’t try new things because they don’t know whether it’s going to work. Best thing is, “test small, measure results, get rid of what doesn’t work and do more of what works. Doing unnecessary things will make your effort boring. Don’t be afraid to experiment and select the best.

You need to warm them up first:

You wouldn’t approach a complete stranger with this opening line, “hi, how are you? Do you want to have sex?” In business, however, this is what a lot of companies do. Some may say “Welcome to our website. Buy now!” Take the time to build trust in you. Show people how you’ve help others just like them. Show them testimonials, case studies and a list of you current clients. Ask for their contact information and give them something of value. They’re going to buy whenever they are ready. Show them that you are trustworthy and credible. Remember, it’s a long process till you build confidence in each other’s mind before asking “would you buy my product?”

How you finish is as important as how you start:

You don’t finish sex and tell your partner “OK, that’s nice. Now you can go home” that is exactly what some companies do to their customers. They never call them to find out how happy they are with their purchase and if there’s something else they can do for them. This is a perfect moment to stand out and build and even stronger relationship with your customers. And remember, selling to existing customers is a lot easier than selling to someone who never bought anything from you. Also it will be costlier and challenging to approach new customers. Always better to keep what you have and protect them.

Courage/Self belief

Without courage you are fight to reach your goal is as good as lost even before it has started! You must have the courage to give up and walk away from stability, where everything is smooth and assured, without a second thought of the risk you are taking. When it seems failure is inevitable it takes a huge amount of courage to keep going on and on until you get what you want. When the world around you doubts that you will reach that goal, when everyone doubts you will ever get there, it really takes what it takes to stick to your guns to see your efforts bear fruit.

Risk

Higher the risk, higher the reward they say. [I don’t know how they mean!!!] Risk and reward seem to be inter-depended and inter-twined. Of course we are not talking of hair-brained schemes here but about well thought out plans. If you fail, you will land and improve so that next time you know you will not fail. Today crossing the road is such a risk that what you venture to do seem like pretty sure bet!!

Your greatest strength

You must realize what your greatest strength is. This is mandatory for you to reach your goal. Only the people closest to you will know what your greatest asset is. It could bet asset is. It could be your PR or your computing ability or your drawing skills or your writing talent or your good at making speeches!! Once you realize what your greatest strength is then when you utilize this quality, it will be effortless for you because you are doing what comes naturally to you. So asked the people closest to you, people you trust and learn what your greatest strength is and utilize it to the maximum.

Job You Would Love To Have

The ancient Greek philosopher Plato had a wonderful theory; he thought every human was born with four hands and four feet and Zeus, the king of Greek gods taking fright, split every human in half. Now everyone is supposedly looking for his other half! (Ever wonder how the tern better half arose!!)

Nowadays when we hear the term soul mate, we take it to mean someone who has similar tastes, likes and dislikes. If one can have a soul mate, why can’t I have a good job? A job I would love to go to every day, 365 days of the year! I would have my off days, granted but notwithstanding. I’d still love to go to work because it gives me such a lift, a sense of accomplishment. Everyday I’d go home feeling that I have done a good day’s work. Next morning too I’d come to office with a jaunty step to my best. May be my job is not the highest paying job in town but the gratification and the sense of fulfillment, the job satisfaction will be hard to beat. The ideal soul job would be the one that satisfy us financially, while giving us job satisfaction and emotional and intellectual gratification.

find a job you would enjoy doing, even under the harshest conditions, for example firemen go to do their rescue act knowing full well that death is lurking at every corner, waiting for them to make the slightest error in judgment. What additional qualifications are needed, where to get that qualification, how long it will take, how much it will cost, etc? These are some of the things that you have to deal with and find answers. May be you have friends who are doing the job you are planning to do and perhaps they will be able advise you on how to get about. But be realistic regarding the time factor. You will not become a doctor or an engineer overnight. But then the satisfaction on reaching your goal will be that much greater.

Look for alternative placement at your current work place. Check with your personnel department and find out whether additional qualifications are required for what you are looking for and if yes, refer back to what we suggested in the previous paragraph regarding additional qualifications. This will be an ongoing operation as you will have to keep on checking regularly for openings in your office cadre.

As you know some people spend a life time looking for their soul-mates without success. So find your soul-job may not be a cakewalk. Be ambitious, be persistent and above all, be open-minded. Then your one half will have what it takes to find that soul-job so that you will become whole!!

Every day we have little pockets of time that get wasted. We are not using them to accomplish anything productive – and we’re not using them to relax. These pockets of time generally come along with feelings of boredom of frustration.

They occur when we’ve got some necessary gap between two tasks.

For example:

· Those ten minutes at work before a meeting, when it is not worth starting anything new.

· Waiting for a kettle or a pan of water to come to the boil

· Waiting for a bus or train.

· Getting stuck in traffic for twenty minutes.

· Standing in line at the post office.

All too often, we end up simply drumming our heels. But you can put these pockets of time to good use – even when they are as short as five minutes. Here’s how.

At work

Even if your hectically busy most time, you’ll probably have the occasional few minutes when there’s really nothing you can get on with. Perhaps your aging computer has crashed and you have wait for it to reboot, or maybe you’re waiting for a conference call and can’t start anything involved.

Instead of filling your nail, doodling on post it notes or making a giant paper-clip chain, here are few ways to salvage some of those time pockets-in order to make sure the rest of your day goes more smoothly.

Five minutes:

· Wrote a quick to-do list or check list for a project which is weighing on your mind. It’ll instantly seem more manageable.

Basic Photography Concepts

Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still pictures by recording radiation on a radiation-sensitive medium and it is an expansive art form that includes more than just portraiture, landscape or glamor photography. Both professional and amateur photographers may favor specific types of photography over others. While a professional photographer may work in photojournalism, an amateur may be particularly interested in macro-photography.

There are three absolute basics of photography... ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Combining these three in various ways will be the absolute basics of your photos. Let's break it down. ISO is a measurement which applies to film and represents the films sensitivity to light. It can go as low as 50, and keeps doubling up (next is 100, then 200, continuing to 400 etc) and reaches very high numbers. Low ISO is less sensitive to light. High ISO is more sensitive to light.

In dark areas such as indoors with dim lighting a high ISO number is needed because high ISO is more sensitive to light.
In bright areas such as outdoor in sunlight, a low ISO will be sufficient. Low ISO is less sensitive to light.

Aperture is the opening in your camera lens through which you let in light. So if you are in an area with strong light, you can let in less light through the lens. If it's dark, you can have a high aperture to let in more light. The numbers goes the other way here! A high number means you are letting in less light, and a low number is to let in more light. Aperture usually ranges from small opening with the number 22 (I know it doesn't make sense!) and all the way down to a big opening with the number 1.2.

In dark areas you can have a high aperture (low number). Meaning you are letting in as much light as possible.
In bright areas you can have a low aperture (high number). Meaning you are letting in less
light.

Shutter speed is the length of time your camera lets in light. This measures in seconds, or parts of a
second, usually from 1/4000 of a second all the way up to 30 seconds. Some cameras will let you
click and hold the camera button leaving the length of time up to you. This setting is called«bulb».
Conclusion: If you are in a dark area you need more light, therefore you have to set the camera to a slow shutter speed. In bright areas, you can have a faster shutter speed.
Final conclusion: By playing around with these three basic settings in your camera, you will be able
to make bright areas look dark and dark areas look bright and everything in between.
